For further reference, the kitten lady can help you with more details on how to do this, and other kitten fostering advice.

If you can’t get to a vet quickly, you can bathe him yourself with just plain Dawn dish soap (no antibiotics, fancy scents or lotions) or baby shampoo (or even just warm water would be a good start) to reduce the fleas. The Kitten Lady also has videos on how to bathe kittens. You don’t want to introduce fleas to your house, since he’s too young to take anti-flea topical treatments, and if he’s loaded, they could get into your furnishings and carpet.

The vet will determine his age, which will set the schedule for when he can start vaccinations; they’ll also check to make sure he’s nominally healthy, no broken bones or obvious anomalies, and give him a dewormer, for which you need to be sure he can poop!

My kitten tip: get some powdered lysine - your vet can sell you some, but you can buy it cheaper [online](Vetoquinol Viralys Powder, 100gm https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FULBT4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_7uk6AbYFWZ62F) (that tub will last you at least six months, also comes in gels and chewies). It’s a immune-boosting supplement that helps them get past the kitten stage and fight off respiratory infections, etc. Worth its weight in gold!

Happy new cat!

This lysine is cheap while this one is more palatable. Each would be 1/4 tsp on food twice a day. And for a single cat either container would last a long time.
