I don't know what your business is, but it's pretty cheap to buy the stuff to convert a VHS tape. $50 here, plus $5-10 for a nice used VCR. Too bad you didn't offer to do it and just charge the guy $75, IMO.

If you are looking for dead simple

I set that up on a computer with my mom and she got through our entire video collection.

Rewind your entire tape and then eject put it back in then fast forward till its over record the ammount of time displayed on the vcr then rewind it again and press play to start the recording. It should have a timer in the included software for how long to record for just set that to the length of your video and you are good to go.

I picked this up for my parents VHS, apparently it does vinyl as well. I can't comment on it though because it was a christmas gift and they haven't opened it...also you can't borrow it because they live in Newfoundland...but it might be worth picking up one yourself.
