Honestly this guy: http://www.amazon.com/Vibratex-Mystic-Wand-Hand-Held-Massager/dp/B0030FXMT8

Is my OG. I just got rechargeable batteries and a battery charger and I was good to go. The Mystic Wand is mostly waterproof with a washable head so you can get it good and clean or use it in the shower. It's quiet enough to be silenced by a comforter thrown over your body (I tested mine just now and you can't hear it with the door closed), it's light weight, it's got a really flexible neck, and even though it is a strong vibration it's still a nice, smooth vibration and not a clit-numbing BZZ of a Hitachi. It's lowest setting is still strong and it has pulse, build, and rhythm options as well. Even with the neck and the batteries and the high-intensity it still lasted me nearly four years, which is relatively unheard of for vibrators like it.

I love it. I just wanted to try something else out, you know? I'll probably buy a new one ASAP anyway.

To start with, here are some links about getting ready for your first time:

  • Our very own r/sex FAQ on first time sex.

  • Aunt Shakti's Action Plan for Proactive Modern Virgins - tips for you on getting ready and having a painless first time.

  • The Hymen Myth

  • You Can't POP Your Cherry! (HYMEN 101) - YouTube video

The last two are important because pretty much everything you've ever heard about the hymen is probably false. You don't POP a hymen, and only a clumsy brute rips one. If you have one at all, it is most likely narrow and quite stretchy, so there is no need to tear it. Your bf needs to get you fully aroused and well-lubed, and then ease his way in and gently push the hymen out of the way. (This is true whether you're a virgin or not. I've had sex thousands of times and my gynecologist says my hymen is still intact.)

A tiny percentage of virgins do have hymens that significantly obstruct the vaginal opening, but these should be dealt with by a doctor, not a guy with a battering ram. It's a simple outpatient procedure.

    Becoming Orgasmic

Two good places to start, each with many links:

  • The r/sex FAQ on Orgasm troubles is an excellent intro.

  • Learning How to Have Orgasms has links to many great resources.

I particularly recommend the book Becoming Orgasmic and a wand-type vibrator like the classic Hitachi Magic Wand or the battery-operated Mystic Wand. Both are comparatively powerful and easy to use, and they tend toward lower-frequency, so they feel nice and rumbly, not buzzy.

    Loosening Up

If you are really too tight for pain-free penetration, I strongly recommend that you get a set of dilators. These are basically tapered dildos in graduated sizes, starting with one smaller than your little finger and working up to the size of a normal penis. Getting a set is a lot cheaper and easier than trying to buy individual dildos in the right sizes.

  • How to Use a Vaginal Dilator | Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital

  • Vaginal Dilator Set - Vaginismus.com (~$45)

    Info for Him/Both of You

  • A Guide for Male Virgins - tips for getting ready, a detailed 12-step plan for first-time sex, and what to do afterward.

  • Better Sex 101 - lots of good tips for couples on having a good sexual relationship.

  • Anatomy of the Vulva - so you both know what's where.

  • How to Locate the Clitoris - because that's important!

Also, make sure he reads/watches the links above about the hymen!

Annnd finally... here's a book that I think every young guy should read and reread often, so buy him a copy as a present!

  • She Comes First: The Thinking Man's Guide to Pleasuring a Woman, by Ian Kerner - the best book for men who care about satisfying women.

That should get you started. Relax, be safe, expect silly stuff to happen, and have fun!

This has stood up to almost 3 years of serious abuse. And it doesn't plug in--takes AA batteries. If you buy the special ones (I forget what they're called; our local sex toy store sells them) it'll last forever on one set of batteries.

:D

EDIT: fail linking.

Well, my favorite vibe is huge, expensive, and wired, but you might like my second fave. Got it for portability and a little more ease of use in partnered play. I do use it alone from time to time and it's nice. I think it's slightly on the weak side but my gf finds it more than strong enough so. Probably not a bad place to start.

somebody elsewhere in the comments has already recommended you the big wall plug-in hitachi wand. I'd like to suggest its baby cousin instead http://www.amazon.com/Vibratex-Mystic-Wand-Hand-Held-Massager/dp/B0030FXMT8

it's smaller, less intense to start with (though it can ramp up to a pretty high intensity if need be), and it has a bunch of fun pattern settings that the plug-in version doesn't have. I have yet to find a sexually inclined human being of any gender/genital construction that doesn't like this thing.

best of luck with your new ladybits!

Hitachi is great - but I've found I like the mystic wand just as much and it's significantly cheaper
