HERE is the one in the pictures. This is the one in the Iraq video found in the comments. Want to but one locally try a livestock feed store. You would be surprised at what you can find in those places.

I have no idea why there are so many flies in your basement, so my solution does not stop them from appearing, but will kill every single one that ends up down there. I would place a trap in the basement to attract and kill all the flies, and that might keep them from migrating upstairs. Hang this thing on a beam with a piece of heavy string or wire, or simply place it on a table or on the floor. There is a dry mix that gets added to water, called bait, and when it gets half full or full it will begin to smell and should be flushed down the toilet. Before you open it up, kill the newly trapped flies in the trap by pouring bleach into it at the open holes on top of the trap. That way they will not fly out when you open it up. Maybe next year the problem will diminish or dissapper altogether. Good luck.

holy crap, I foolishly thought I could use one of these to catch flies inside. After about a day the rotten meat smell proved that was a terrible idea. I put it outside and it filled up quickly. A big jar of live and dead flies. ugh, so gross. But they work.

I have one of these hanging in a tree that i bought from Greensgrow Farms, where 75% of my garden came from.

it will fill up in a week. thousands. I bought it because I feed stray cats on my driveway, ten feet from the tree, and I hated seeing flies hovering around their heads while they ate. This thing removes flies all day long. They’re attracted to the liquid bait, (water plus bait packet) and volunteer to enter at the top and it's over by drowning. Dealing with the trap when it’s full is a challenge.

If the issue is FLIES (not files), I DID have a big problem with them a couple of months ago. What made it worse was that workers were in and out repairing flood damage, so I'd get home at the end of the day and there'd be dozens of flies flying around inside my house.

Seems likely that there had to be rotting meat somewhere nearby. Maybe a cat killed some rats or something. Anyway, eventually they finally dwindled down and now I only see a fly or two outside once in a while.

While it was going on, I bought fly traps on Amazon and that worked, but the traps are really supposed to be used outside, and that's because they attract the flies into a jar by putting out a smell of rotting meat. It is just a powder you put into water, but a day later it reeks to high heaven. Flies go for it.

Anyway, hope your issue is just with them outside.

What about fruitflies, should I be concerned if they are present as well? I just planted everything brand new, so nothing has really grown yet.

Should I try something like this?
