Sorry for this bothering again, but if you are in Europe, I might have found a better deal. it's 9.99, gold edition (includes Frozen Throne and Reign of Chaos).

(I wish Amazon URLs were shorter, url shortener aren't really well eyed here)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B005NH6JIW%3FSubscriptionId%3D035HRQETZS3GCGBJ3F82%26tag%3Dmffindgame-21%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3DB005NH6JIW

Also... if you click on "23 new" or "1 used", you can find even better deals... 8 pounds new, 7 used. Since the pound is going down these days, 10 pounds is only about 11 euros.

And, again, sorry for spamming you with all these replys!

A bit off-topic, but you can hide the long URLs.

Amazon link

Just type [link text](URL) in this case the link text would be "Amazon link" and the URL would be the one you linked.

I've been meaning to play Warcraft I & II, but Warcraft III was my first Warcraft game when I was a kid in 2002. I've watched cinematics from other Warcraft games though, and from what I've seen, Warcraft III has the most diverse amount of likable characters. I'd go with Warcraft III to see if the game-play and lore is in your interests.

Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos has four (five if you count tutorial) campaigns:

  • Human - Mostly about Arthas as a Paladin and how he got Frostmourne. Has major characters of the Alliance such as Arthas/Jaina Proudmoore/Uther the Lightbringer/Muradin Bronzebeard.

  • Undead - Mostly about Arthas as a Death Knight and the return of Archimonde (An Arch Demon - One of the mightiest demons in the universe), and shows the fall of Lordaeron/Quel'thalas. Has major characters such as Kel'thuzad/Sylvanas.

  • Orc - Mostly about Thrall and his quest to find a homeland without prejudice for his people, while fighting the Alliance (Humans, Elves, Dwarves and whatnot) who have also come to this strange new land (Kalimdor). Has major characters such as Thrall/Cairne/Jaina/Grom.

  • Night Elf - Mostly about Tyrande/Malfurion, and the two lovers fighting to defend their homeland forests of Ashenvale from the Demons, and the Orcs & Humans who would all desecrate their sacred glades. Has major characters such as Tyrande/Malfurion/Illidan/Thrall/Jaina/Arthas.

The expansion to Reign of Chaos is Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.
This has three campaigns, and one bonus campaign (Which is not part of the main storyline, but still lore filled):

  • Night Elf - Mostly about Tyrande/Malfurion/Illidan/Maiev Shadowsong, and mostly takes place in Kalimdor, the Broken Isles, and the Eastern Kingdoms. Has major character such as Tyrande/Malfurion/Illidan/Maiev Shadowsong/Kael'thas Sunstrider/Naga & Lady Vashj.

  • Human - Mostly about Kael'thas who seeks to sate his peoples hunger for magic, while dealing with the racist lord Garithos. Has major characters such as Kael'thas/Lady Vashj/Illidan/Akama.

  • Undead - Mostly about Arthas/Sylvanas. Arthas has to protect the Lich King from a dangerous threat to the undead Scourge, while Sylvanas breaks free from the Lich King's control and begins to ponder the future for herself, and her freed undead. Has major characters such as Arthas/Sylvanas/Kel'thuzad/Balnazzar/Varimathras/Lich King/Illidan/Kael'thas/Lady Vashj/Anub'arak.

  • Bonus Orc Campaign - Follow Rexxar as he helps the Orcish Horde create a new homeland and a new city to house the Orcs, and defend this homeland from an old Human threat. Has major characters such as Rexxar/Thrall/Gazlowe/Cairne/Chen Stormstout/Jaina Proudmoore.

I highly recommend you check out Warcraft III as I believe it's a great way to introduce you to the series and the universe, as the storyline is not dependent on any previous knowledge of the game series, and has many memorable characters with different motives and personalities, while not being overly complex to confuse you.

If you want to play Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, Warcraft III: Frozen Throne, check out the links I have provided. Apologies in advance if you are in a different region then EU, I am sure you can redirect yourself to your regions store page. x)

P.S. If you want both, I'd recommend you check out Warcraft III: Gold Edition, as this contains the base game & expansion. Good luck and have fun!
