I'm pretty sure I got her that one for Christmas last year, along with We Should All Be Feminists and The Second Sex. It hasn't seemed to really sink in yet. I probably should've included that in the OP. Sorry!
ETA: Also The Handmaid's Tale! Got her that one, too.
Anything by bell hooks.
We Should All Be Feminists by Chimimanda Ngozi Adichie.
Also, my favorite magazing, Bitch, has this awesome section of books that you should check out
Also, if anyone has trouble understanding the thought process behind Feminism or explaining it to others there's a super short and sweet book called We Should All Be Feminists based off of a TEDtalk of the same author (Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie).
It's the size of your hand, large font, and about 52 pages long.
Here's the TED Talk
Information time: This booklet is a written transcription of her TED talk here. Half hour long, Published on Apr 12, 2013, 2.3 million views.
Please watch the TED talk so we are informed about the topic. She says that Nigeria and Laos (and other places in Africa) are still have some gender segregation in public and are a bit more sexist than European countries. Otherwise 20 minutes in and it seems to be the usual talking points and feminist anecdotes so far. Not too bad on the 'crazy and I drank the flavor-aid' scale.
The booklet itself is only 64 pages long. That makes it easier to see how they could afford to give out so many coppies.

>Female writes "Why we Should all Be Feminists".
> Male: Okay, I'm a feminist.
>Whedon: No you're not.
Alright here are a couple of good articles that go over the basic concept. You might not agree with everything that's said in these, but it'll give you a good idea of the prevailing thoughts and ideas on it. One thing you have to understand about feminism that makes it kind of difficult to keep track of is that it's an incredibly broad label, so it's pretty much impossible to say "Feminists think X and believe Y".

And also, you didn't say anything about this but it's a commonly held belief about feminism so I'll go ahead and address it: Feminism is not about hating men or putting men down. In fact, a study was conducted showing that women who don't consider themselves feminists show more negative feelings towards men than feminists do. If you're interested I can try to dig up the study for you
And if you're really interested, this book is supposed to deal with both men and women's issues in relation to feminism, though as a disclaimer I haven't read it yet.

Here are three books. I linked to Amazon to help you find them easier.
We Should All Be Feminists, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie A personal and powerful essay from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie which offers a 21st century definition of feminism while exploring what it means to be a woman today.
The Beauty Myth, Naomi Wolf Naomi Wolf's bestselling book looks at the every day pressure on women to conform physically is a constant and all-pervading ideal of what 'beauty' is, touching on the potential oppressive and tyrannical impact it can have.
How To Be A Woman, Caitlin Moran Caitlin Moran's part memoir/part rant is full of titbits and tales from her own life as well as advice for your own, while asking all the questions we want to know the answers to. Examples include, 'Why are we supposed to get Brazilians?' 'Do men secretly hate us?' 'And why does everyone ask you when you're going to have a baby?'
I truly wasn't trying to offend anyone or cause negativity with this post. There seems to be lots of confusion on this issue. I would like to recommend this book to anyone who would like to learn more.
