Well, I cant say its only the medicine. Ive had RSI for 3.5 years and i've been slowly healing the whole time. Ive become an expert on managing my RSI. Treating my chron's just really pushed me ahead in my healing to where i dont have my hands hurt some days even with plenty of computer and studying. The medication is really specific to chron's disease its a time release medicine than doesnt release until its in your colon. And its actually not working anymore im about to start a new medicine called Humira. These are pretty serious medications. Actually a lot of the medicines for chron's disease are the same or similar to medicines used to treat rhumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune conditions. I think the moral of my story is that you should go to a doctor and see if there is anything else causeing inflammation in your body, or something like a pinched nerve in your back causeing your problems. I know you can get a blood test that checks for the markers of rhumatoid arthritis.

Another thing that i did was really change my thinking on the mental side of RSI. i read this super short book that helped me understand and think about the ways that your mental state influences your pain. There are feedback loops that you can break that really help. For instance if you fear the pain and worry about it your brain focuses on it more. The more stressed out you are the worse they hurt etc. The book does a good job breaking down into layman's terms chronic pain and how it works. Why do i hurt? The book is really short you can probably read it in an hour or less but i found it valuable. I think in some ways this mental side of things is similar to Dr.Sarno's work. i never read his stuff but i tried to apply some of his basic ideas and combine them with ideas from why do i hurt to help me fight the mental side of RSI.

I use a clinical version of his to educate my chronic pain patients. Generally there is more going on in the patients life other than "pain" which is ramping up their nervous system.

If you are truly wanting a medical opinion, then here it is. Just because a MRI showed herniations, stenosis, sciatica, scoliosis and degenerative disc disease (DDD) it doesn't mean much unless your symptoms are consistent with the findings. If you MRI 100 people who have no pain, you will find the same exact findings in the majority of these people. So why do you hurt? I can't tell you that. No one can obviously. But if you live your life based on these diagnoses then you will never get better. If you are truly wanting to get better then I would suggest you look at pain science education. Some ideas are:

No one says you don't have pain but pain science education gives a different perspective on why you do and how to cope with it. Hope this helps
