A component cable shouldn't run you more than $5-7USD.

Monoprice sells one for around $6 as an add-on item.

I purchased this one from eBay. It's only about 4 feet long, which is great for my setup but may not be long enough for yours.

If you really wanted to use HDMI, you could get an adapter for about $12USD.

My recommendation is to keep an eye out for a used CRT. Even if the TV doesn't support widescreen or 480p progressive scan, the Wii really shines on a CRT. This is especially true if you're going to play Gamecube or Virtual Console games on it.

If you're worried about reliability, you could always get one of these. (I always thought mine was sewell brand, but this is what was in my order history.) Anyways, it's worked great for me. People will always be hesitant of non-crt setups, but there shouldn't be any lag as long as you have a good monitor.

Yes, with an adapter.

I'm going to assume your computer monitor has an HDMI input. In that case, both devices shoudl be able to connect with an HDMI adapter.

Here's a well-reviewed HDMI adapter for the GameCube, and here's one for the Wii.

If your monitor only has VGA or DVI, just look for Wii and Gamecube DVI/VGA adaptors.

This adaptor is supposed to be the easiest way to get the best picture out of a Wii, as the Nintendo component cables can be expensive.

Homebrew your Wii, if you don't mind doing such a thing. My Wii is a very capable emulator box now (even does PS1 games well) and back when I pirated all the time, I was able to run burnt off Wii games on it.

Component cables on the Wii is sooooo much better than the shitty RCA ones.

Also, you can get an HDMI Adapter for the Wii.

My B7A came with the 3.5mm to RCA dongle. You could pick up a cheap wii to hdmi adapter from amazon which would result in much better picture quality than the composite connection:
