It sounds like you are just hitting puberty, so I would suggest something inexpensive and well-made. This little thing is great.

Go with the grain, go slowly, don't press hard and lube up well. For now, shave your sideburns at your cheekbone line, this will give your face a more manly and defined edge.

Remember, as you get hairier you will never get rid of the beard shadow completely. Don't try to.

Wilkinson Sword (this) one. By no means a bad razor, and I learned a lot about how to control the blade by using it. That said, I love my new Jagger.

Death by a thousand cuts.

This Razor and the wilkinson sword blades make up the only DE razor I have. I think it's great, although I've never compared to another DE.

My razor is a Wilkinson Sword Classic. I actually bought it at a grocery store for about 4 euros instead of 10 as I said earlier. My brush is a Shaving Factory XS. The soap is Proraso with Green Tea and Oat.

Edit: The blades are Astra Superior Platinum.

> You're getting swindled buying gimmicky cartridges anyway. Double edge safety razor master race. You can buy 100 blades for under $10 and get a better shave.

This. I switched many years ago now and havent looked back.

Edit: links for noobs.

This one is surprisingly good
And these guys have lots of good stuff

This isn't really a money saving tip - if you follow /r/wicked_edge's advice, you'll end up spending loads on badger-hair brushes and other unnecessary shaving paraphernalia.

If you really want to save money, buy a cheap double-edge razor (such as this or this, if you want something metal), then buy lots of razor blades in one go. I use these ones, but any with fairly good reviews will do. Use a gel/foam/soap of your choice and you're set. The blades will probably last you a couple of years and the razor should hopefully last a year, if not more.

Nope - i've had one 8 months now (DE89Lbl), used every other day, knocking around in a washbag with a lot of other toiletries.
No damage on it at all!

I also have a cheapo plastic $5 Wilkinson Sword razor that gives a shave every bit as good.

[Amazon link to $5 razor!] (http://www.amazon.com/Wilkinson-Sword-Classic-Double-Blades/dp/B0012Y1FCK)

The above one is $30 as it comes with 50 sub-standard, horrible blades. I bought mine in a high street pharmacy and threw away the supplied blades after one shave.

I'm convinced that a good shave is down to the shaving technique and the blade quality, not the razor itself.

I use Derby blades in both razors, with a double pass method and they both give flawless results.
The cheapo one gives slightly better results as it can shave closer to the septum of my nose with the lower profile. It seems the EJ always leaves annoying little tuffs that i just can't reach.

However the Edwin Jagger looks better, and feels more substantial - it also travels better in my washbag, with a blade in situ - when i flip the lower plate to protect the blade. The cheapo $5 has no such protection.

It may seem expensive. But it is honestly a one time purchase. The razors are a quality built, they'll last you a life time. The brush will last a very long time as well.

You can get this [Wilkinson Sword] (Wilkinson Sword Classic (Razor + 5 Blades) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0012Y1FCK/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_aEiZxbBJK7E3T)

Or this [RiMei](Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/271820853520) its a cheap but effective razor. If it breaks they're so cheap you can just replace it.

The cheapest brush might be [Omega Synthetic](Omega Blue Handle Syntex Synthetic Fibre Shaving Brush Vegan Cruelty Free https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004L08KSO/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_uJiZxbKFTR0GG)

Thanks for another option. I haven't looked too carefully yet. The one I saw was the Wilkinson Sword Classic, somebody there gave it a video review.

Would you have a suggestion for something in the $10-$20 range? To start with of course

u/megazver · 1 pointr/AskMen

I threw out the multiblade and switched to old-school shaving with a cheap-ass newbie safety razor. You can probably get an even better shave with a more expensive razor, but this one was the only one for sale in my vicinity and the only one I was willing to pay for and it was still better than the multiblade. Don't forget to change the blades every few shaves on each side.

Here's the guide to actually doing it:

This is what I use. 🤷🏻‍♂️ 9$ on Amazon.

I had a Mühle previously, but I dropped it once and it broke completely. The one I linked was a quick replacement (bought it at Rossman) and I've used it ever since.

they are horrible,

Theres the gillette one which is a rebadge, but its meh at best,

If you want a cheap decent razor i would go for the wilkinson sword double edge classic, it retails between 5 and 10 bucks and its a solid razor.

safety razor, Lush's Ambrosia and an alum block (not really needed when you use the Ambrosia) is my shaving needs. Except this month is Movember :)

Last years with this basic setup.

u/songwind · 1 pointr/wicked_edge

I don't know anything about that razor, and it seems a bit suspect that there's no manufacturer listed in the name of it.

We've had a few good reviews of the Wilkinson Sword Classic which is just a couple of GBP more.

u/Stinzent · 1 pointr/artofmanliness

Dirt cheap, pretty much all you'll ever need in terms of razors and blades. I got myself a nicer, full metal razor at some point, mostly for the looks, but this one is surprisingly sufficient. Used it for years. Toss the Wilkinson blades though, they're bad. (I know it's in German, bear with me. The brands are international I think, so you should get those anywhere)

I still use a basic "starter" Wilkinson model I got recommended for its "soft" shave and personally, I never had such smooth and close shave as with disposable razors (https://www.amazon.com/Wilkinson-Sword-Classic-Razor-Blades/dp/B0012Y1FCK). Another awesome benefit of these is that you can get the hair unstuck super easy, not something you can do with a disposable...

The "secrets" are:

  • proper shaving cream, always, no exception (I use The Body Shop)
  • changing blade on time
  • finding the right angle
  • not applying too much pressure; basically no pressure at all if I can help it, just keeping the blade against the skin

If you have to go through the same portion of skin multiple times and you do it with a multi blade razor, I think this might be one of the reasons for your ingrown hairs.... And maybe what you shave off is not hair, but rather bumps of dead skin? If you get your skin and hair to normal, shaving should also get easier.

Here's a cheap plastic one that could work.

Might help you out. Also:

And if you have a target nearby sometimes they carry a badger brush by Shea Moisture. It's $9 and its the brush I use almost every day. Very good value.

Edited to add: I don't have any extra razors otherwise I probably would consider lending you one as long as you pay it forward, but Badger and Blade members often have Pay-It-Forward (PIF) giveaways for certain things. You might want to lurk there for a while.

I prefer the Wilkinson Sword Classic Razor when it comes to ultra budget DE razors...

This Wilkinson Sword razor is modestly priced, or you could get one of these Lords, though I would recommend against the Click.

Riippuu toki höylästä. Kolmella neljällä kympillä saa kyllä jo semmoisen setin (höylä, terät, suti, mömmöt) millä tekee parturiliikkeen tyylisen "luksusajelun" kotioloissa joka päivä vuoden ajan.

EDIT. Todiste alaäänestäjille:
