I'd wait for Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition ($7.49). I bought it and I love it, but you need a controller since it's a straightforward port, but also if you're not into first person action RPGs, then maybe Bioshock 1 and 2 ($4.99) or Batman Arkham GOTY Pack ($11.49) for action. Then there's Microsoft 5-Game Arcade/Indie Pack ($9.99) if you want to go casual (or just get Mark of the Ninja ($3.75) from it). Some people like The Storming, Burning, Reflecting, Flaming, Sabotaging Pack ($9.99).

If you like strategy games, I'd either look at the Paradox bundles or wait for X-COM and Civ V Gold because I think they'll be cheaper later this month. Oh, and there's the Sonic Action Pack ($9.99) if you like platformers. I don't myself, but Generations make it a great deal for $10.

And this pack too maybe. For those who are interested in Deadlight and Mark of the ninja for instance.

Aquaria might fit the bill. It's a 2D underwater... something or other. I only briefly tried it, and had no idea what I was doing, but it did involve swimming, exploring around.

I never tried them, but maybe the old Sega titles Ecco the Dolphin would be what you're looking for. I think they were mostly in the Genesis/Mega Drive era. They should be in some console Sega collection or another, or they're available for a few bucks on Steam.

Edit: There's also Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, which I only really know from Giant Bomb videos. It's also a side-scroller, exploring a planet as a space ship. You'll gain gadgets and abilities with your ship, which lets you access new areas. And I think there's a bit of twin-stick shooter type of combat to it. It's currently on sale—as part of an Amazon bundle of 5 XBLA ports for $10; or on its own for $3.75.
