My group has a couple of these dice trays from Amazon. Pretty well built and a nice size to pass around the table and handle dice sizes like Kings of Tokyo has.

A 10 or 12 inch dice tray with felted interior is only about $20 on ebay, and while perhaps lacking the fun of building your own, not too hard on the wallet.
