I'm new to Wow. I've been playing the free version and I'm planning to buy 1 month of subscription. The thing is, I'm would like to buy this physical version of the game, because I also want the begginer guide books. My question is, does this physical version come with a key to use on battle.net, or is it just a dvd with an install iso. I need to know this because I'm using linux on my pc, and if it comes with a installation dvd, there could be compatibility problems. Thanks in advence

None of the expansions are obsolete in the sense that tbere is nothing to do, the gear is only worth transmog, but you experience all of it as you quest.

For the game, get this set and then you will only have to buy Warlords of Draenor and the upcoming Legion.

Subscription fee is btw 12 - 14/mo depending on how much you pay at a time.

As for servers, either go with servers designated for new players or ask around on battle.net or in this sub.

Hope that helps.

I couldn't find if there was any deals on purchase price under refer a friend. The scroll of resurrection promo would have been nice but appears to be over for now. Some good news though is they have a Vanilla through Cata battle pack that you can get straight from the blizzard store or amazon, then you only need to purchase the Mist of Pandaria expansion to have the up-to-date content.

Yes, if you buy this, then yes, you will get the free 30 days. BUT you can't just buy a dozen copies of the base game for 5 bucks each and get a year's worth of subscription time. The time is attached to the activation of the base game, so you can't have more than 1 free month.

You can probably find it in stores too...I am pretty sure I have seen this version at my local Target. But it's always been more expensive than the $5 online deal right now.

That's the thing, when a new expansion is released, they incorporate the previous ones on the base game and keep its price the same. For instance, take a look here. The game costs less than $30,00 and as per the description it contains:

> World of Warcraft Game
>
Includes Expansion Packs: The Burnings Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, and Mists of Pandaria

So Bungie would just have to devise something similar. For instance: after the second expansion is released, the first one is incorporated into the base game that would still cost $60,00. After the third on is released, the same thing happens to the second expansion and so on.

You might argue that "people who purchased the expansios will be angry because they paid more for the game and expansion". But this model is used on WoW and people don't complain because they want to be on the frontline, they want new content for the game they love right now, rather than 2 years later with a "Free" price tag.

Only problem I see with this model is that Destiny releases expansions way too quickly. Three months is a VERY short timespan, but they can adapt the model to fit their frequency.

So, long-story short, yes this would be doable, but I think that selling a whole new game for 60 bucks + 35 bucks for the expansions in 2 years is more profitable than just adding more and more stuff in the form of expansions to a base game.

Here you go...

Base game: Comes with all expansions up to MoP ($16.97)

Buy WoD digitally through Battle.Net for $49.99. You'll get a free 90.

So something like this would be a good place to start?
http://www.amazon.com/World-Warcraft-PC-Mac/dp/B00FRESQYG/ref=dp_ob_title_vg

So essentially I play the vanilla version plus all the expansions that come with the above link until I reach 90 and then I should purchase warlords of draenor?

u/Xithryl · 1 pointr/wow

Price for both here on Amazon is $21.88 if you are US

By both I mean the battle chest which is everything up to Cataclysm and then the Mists of Pandaria Expansion.

Sadly, I'm not EU, but I just started playing this week with the free trial. I finally decided that I would surpass the level 20 restriction and ordered the WOW Battlechest and the Warlords of Draenor expansion today. I plan on playing a Horde character, probably a rouge blood elf since I like the blood elf lore. If you were on the US servers, I would've been down to play sometime :(

Happy gaming and the best to both of us newbie!

Wildstar, FF14, Eve, WoW (retail price) base games all cost more than a one month subscription. Maybe "account activation fee" was a bad term, but basically you normally can't just pay for a normal one month sub and start playing.
