Sansa Clip - Awesome lightweight mp3 player for working out, mowing lawn, meditating.... Can be found for less than $20.

PogoPlug Classic - I've seen them for $17 or less on slickdeals. It's a poor man's Raspberry Pi. Can be easily hacked to install ArchLinux and used as a low power server/linux box.

Bluetooth keyboard. This Anker one has good reviews for less than $20 and I almost bought it. I paid $10 more for a Microsoft Wedge that I found on ebay though. Use it to turn your Android phone or tablet into a word processor and note-taking device on the road. Great for conferences or college courses when you're going to be moving a lot and don't want to lug the laptop around.

This one hands down. I've used it for a year and a half now with no problems. I just throw it in my school bag everyday and I've been impressed at how durable it is even though it's just plastic. It's also slightly wider than the iPad, which I like, because every other iPad keyboard or keyboard case that I've tried feels too small to type on comfortably.

Edit: I should also mention that the battery life on it is phenomenal.

Not really. Maybe if you jailbreak. But you're probably better off just getting a cheap Amazon Bluetooth keyboard and using that.

I use my mini for almost all of my school work. For math and science classes, I'll use Penultimate and a stylus to take handwritten notes. Never had a problem, and the multitouch detection works perfectly. For regular note taking I use this keyboard and Evernote. For the lecture slides, I just save everything on Google Drive and view them in there.

Personally, I think the smaller screen is perfect for all these purposes, and I've never had any problems with it. The only downside of the smaller screen may be handwritten notes, but I feel like it helps me keep things concise.

There's a bunch of keyboards that seem to be compatible, OP. Here's one under $14 that has 4.2 stars and seems to be pretty solid, albeit no-frills. There are a lot of "nicer" ones that have the keyboard act as a stand, which is probably more along the lines of what you're looking for. This model looks pretty great and is only $23, and would be perfect for your use case.

As far as printers go, you'll want to look for AirPrint compatible printers like /u/wjtech said. A lot of them will be marketed as "mobile printing" capable, so look through this list and see if there's anything that fits what you're looking for.

Holler at me if you find a printer in that list or see a different keyboard, and I'll check compatibility.

i bought this: http://www.amazon.com/Anker%C2%AE-Bluetooth-Ultra-Slim-Keyboard-Devices/dp/B005ONMDYE

cheap and good size. connects via bluetooth and runs on standard batteries.

iPad is great as a total laptop replacement for school. Grab a school planner app like iStudiez Pro and a bluetooth keyboard and you're set to rock. The difference in portability is enormous. Some bluetooth headphones are a great addition as well, since I hate having to worry about how far away the iPad is from my face, or what direction it's pointing. (Also, so people walking past me to their desks won't have a cord to trip over, and I don't have to move my iPad or take off my earbuds as they go by. Cord management in crowds = totally worth the price of bluetooth gear.)

Honestly, the keyboard is what makes it all work as a total laptop replacement. It's simply a game-changer. It gives you all of the standard keyboard shortcuts for cut copy paste select all and so on. It's got arrow keys which are ridiculously useful. It removes the on-screen keyboard, giving whatever app you're typing into a lot more visible room.

The keyboard I linked has an on/off button and is dirt cheap. The on/off button is critical, because the standard bluetooth keyboard that comes with a Mac doesn't have one. This means that when you stuff it into a backpack, all its keys will get pressed and its battery will drain.

Haha, it's nothing special. Well, actually the price is, $20 and it has ipad specific buttons like home and brightness. I'm very happy with it. Only complaint is that it's a little louder than I'd like when typing because it's so light and plasticky.

I got a cheap bluetooth keyboard that I carry with me in my bag. I find it to be much less obnoxious than keyboard cases (which can get in the way when you just want to use it as a tablet)

This is the one I got (below), $50 cheaper than the apple one, but works just as well.

Combined with this cheap stand - you have yourself a nice little workstation

Aye. I do agree with you on that :)

I actually went ahead and ordered myself one of these, don't know if I'll like it as I never actually tried to use it, but I have really limited space. Going to be using it for my tablet and my computer (if I am in bed), so that I don't keep having to remote access my computer from my bed all the time lol

I'd actually get something like a Arteck HB030B or the Anker you linked if space wasn't an issue.

I bought this one yesterday, I'm waiting for it to be delivered today. So, I can't review it. However, it has 3,991 reviews that rate it at 4.3/5 stars. It is currently $16.99 w/prime.

I can't help you with a keyboard-case combo, but I order the Anker Bluetooth keyboard from Amazon. It is essentially a ripoff of the Apple keyboard. It has worked flawlessly and has a very good build quality. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005ONMDYE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have the Apple keyboard for work, but can't spend that much scratch on an iPad keyboard.

This one has the same functionality, plus a physical on/off switch. No lag between button press and characters appearing, unlike some other budget models. The build quality is mad sturdy and it is super cheap. I highly recommend it.

edit: not a case. It's a keyboard.

u/Coltdog4321 · 1 pointr/Nexus7

Yes. I have this keyboard It works great. Evernote and a few other apps keep everything organized.

u/lesserlife7 · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Will this bluetooth keyboard work solidly with this tablet?

u/chemcalfarmr · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

this would! I have an iPad my work gave me to use... But I find it so hard when I have to type on a screen! :(

Compared to ~0.25" of some other BT keyboards yes it is quite bulky

You're trading length for thickness and also adding more failure-points, tiny hinges are always a pain in the ass.
