Absolutely, you can buy an external charger that plugs into a wall socket and will charge up your battery. They come in various kinds and can hold one to four batteries. It is recommended when you start dealing with multiple batteries at a time.

Now, charging passthrough is fine, but having one extra battery to switch up is pretty convenient. Idealy if you charge up two batteries in the evening, you can get through your next day easily without having to plug in somewhere. If that's sounds good to you, I'd say go and get an extra battery and a charger :)

Battery wise, stick to these (this, this or this) and buy them from a trusted retailer (I believe Imrbatteries.com is one but I wouldn't know better, I personaly buy from nkon.nl since I'm in the EU).

As for a charger, this one and this one have done me no wrong in the past 2 or 3 years :) I haven't had any other.

EDIT: Oh and if you do get an extra battery, be sure not to carry it with other metallic objects around. Best is to have a silicone or hard plastic case (you can get that for very cheap on amazon or fasttech or something)

Hey there you are, I was hoping you'd see my thread since I knew you had experience with other chargers. :)

I now have 4 ways of charging the hopper's batteries, and 3 of those methods involve constant current. The hopper charger is the only one that dances around all over the place.

3 other chargers I have (in no particular order)

  1. Nitecore F1 - Charges at a constant 1 amp
  2. XTAR MC1 - Charges at a constant .5 amp
  3. Olight UC - Charges at a constant .75 amp

I'm going to contact hopper labs and see if they'll provide some insight on this. Perhaps these batteries are designed for variable charging? I'm no expert on the matter, but constant amperage/voltage seems like a more normal method of charging batteries. Every lithium battery I've ever charged has been that way.

What temp are you using and is the grasshopper/batteries new? Using on temp ~3-3.5(finishing off with one or two hits on 4-5) I have been able to get about three bowls with a brand spanking new battery. But I have found they degrade quite quickly and the threading between the body and the back end has to be really clean to get the most out of it. I just had mine out tonight and got two bowls with the first battery with a little left to go(was done after that). But carrying spare batteries is a must if your using your hopper on the go all day or sharing it. My hopper daily carry set up includes 1 spare battery and portable charger like the ones I'll link to bellow. I have had a lot of luck with this set up. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IZQRC34/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M5KU97Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
