There are small CD receivers available from major brands. You wouldn't need to use speakers if all you listen to is headphones.

Blast from the past! I had that same Sony many years ago. It was my first real stereo...great unit.

Problem is that shelf systems have really gone out of fashion and aren't really that prevalent anymore. Here are some options that I would consider

  • Sony CMTSBT 100 $200 comes with everything you want but has proprietary speaker outs so you'll have to pigtail it.

  • Onkyo CS-445 $235 has everything you need plus a sub out.

    Yamaha MCR-232BL $270 no eq settings that I could find on this guy.
