I wear in on me into the water. There's enough room for your phone, cash, and your room key card, or if its normal keys i get a carabiner and clip it to the strap.
That's all my valuables, clothes and stuff I'm not worried about being stolen and just leave on the beach.
IMPORTANT!! Test it with some paper towels inside before you leave, You don't want to use the $500 phone as a guinea pig. I've had a close call or two.
I agree with picking up a round for everybody.
I would also seriously consider picking up one of these waterproof bags for phones for everybody. Yeah, they look a little dorky, but I assume everybody is going to have their phones with them and this way you won't have to worry about them getting all sandy/lost. And if you all do want to go in the water, you don't have to worry about leaving your phones/credit cards on the beach unattended.
These will probably be far more useful than a drink-holder.

I sweat a lot on rides, but even i've never sweated enough to damage my phone.
I'm honestly just curious what does your phone look like after a ride? Usually on mine I put screen inward so the screen will have some sweat on it (looks like raindrops on a screen sort of) but nothing else.

Something like this might be a good reusable alternative. I had one at bisco so I could swim with my phone and it worked pretty well!
