I neeeed hot food in the winter because I get so grumpy if my body is cold AND my food is cold. So I have two of these thermal containers:

Actually I have one of those and one Thermos brand, both good. Some of my favorite lunches are hearty soups, chili, oatmeal, and congee. I end up eating a LOT of oatmeal because it take almost zero work: put rolled oats in the container, add hot water, add flavorings, and go. It will be cooked and ready to eat when lunch rolls around. I've started making savory oatmeal too, and it is so satisfying. The container will even keep hot things that aren't liquidy, but there will be condensation and moisture.
