For those of you wondering how someone could confuse the two, here is a pedicure file, compared to the cheese grater they got. When I got my first pedicure I legit thought they were using a cheese grater on my feet

I actually recently felt the urge to add some pink to my hair too but didn't want to worry about committing in case it clashed with my wardrobe. I found some Punky Color [color depositing shampoo/conditioner] (https://www.amazon.com/Punky-Punktabulous-Depositing-Conditioner-Strengthen/dp/B079DWXWMY/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1540351237&sr=8-3&keywords=punky+color+pink+shampoohttps://www.amazon.com/Punky-Punktabulous-Depositing-Conditioner-Strengthen/dp/B079DWXWMY/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1540351237&sr=8-3&keywords=punky+color+pink+shampoo) . It's allowed me to experiment with color, but it washes out of my ash blonde hair within a week in case I need to look more formal.

Wash Day: Morrocan Curl Cleansing Conditioner

Or, I Co-Wash with Trader Joe's Nourish Spa Moisture balance conditioner. I also prefer the TJ's shampoo when I need to wash my hair to remove product buildup (which I do once every two weeks).

Post wash I use the LOC method to moisturize.

Leave In - Giovanni Direct Leave-In Weightless Moisture Conditioner

Oil - I use my own mixture I created with Peppermint Oil, Tea tree oil, Black Castor Oil, Almond Oil, Avocado Oil and Olive Oil. My hair really loves it.

Cream - I wear my hair in twist outs, the cream I use for my twist outs is the Cantu Conditioning Curl Cream

I retwist my hair once a week (personal preference).. and I use a bit of Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream, but sparingly, as it makes my hair feel slightly crunchy, I only use it in the front for my bangs to curl up very tight when I twist them.

For edge control, I use the Olive Oil Eco Styler gel..

My hair is 4b/4c. Chopped two years ago -now past my shoulders, nearly 16 inches in length. I tried a LOT of products before I found those my hair likes.

Also, I recommend checking out Amazon's Texture's and Hues page. It's for women of color.. and it's AMAZING.

I agree with acronymopolis. Shorter hair helps with the flaking. I use tea tree shampoo and it helps a bit.

I also have several other shampoos that are prescription and OTC. I used the T-gel stuff with coal tar, but that didn't work for me. A shampoo with salicyclic acid is pretty easy to find in the grocery or drug store. This is the one I use. I use that in rotation with this shampoo as well. Then I also have clobex, but that is a prescription.

I've heard that some people rub oils and whatever into their scalps. You could research that. Join up and get some heathcare and make an appt with a dermatologist. Better to catch it early.

Lol, tar is pretty much an end-all for bad dandruff. I use this. edit: It's like when you've tried using a lighter to light a fire, and instead you use a nuke.

I had the same issue for many years.

What worked for me is the following:

I changed my shampoo to one that is sulfate free. Sometimes sulfate a can cause your scalp to dry up. I now use Mitch Double Hitter Sulfate free 2 in 1

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005NWMR56

And then after I get out of the shower I take 5 drops of Aveda's Pureformance Comp. Oil and massage it into my scalp.

http://www.aveda.com/product/5216/16484/Collections/Aveda-Men-Pure-FormanceTM/Aveda-Men-Pure-Formance-Composition/index.tmpl

Problem solved!

Hope this helps!

EDIT: I just realized I didn't even answer your intended question about the soap. I could just relate to the research your doing due to having the same problem and I thought I'd throw my two cents in. ;)

I like these just because it's the only bottle I need, and they smell nice. Also, it makes more room for my wife's other 27 bottles in there.

DERMAREST Psoriasis Medicated Shampoo plus Conditioner, 8 OZ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003LZTY4Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_vX3PAbXAY3FWS

I have psoriasis on my scalp. This has helped me greatly. Leave on for 10 minutes. It has salicylic acid in it which helps clear sore spots. No smell.

u/AvatarIII · 2 pointsr/Parenting

Best analogy I can think of is car wax. It makes the hair look and feel nicer.

Anyway, might I suggest this: Head and Shoulders 2-in-1 Citrus Fresh Shampoo and Conditioner 450 ml https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00G8EOVCU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_dy4JzbX1EHDGT

I have like Cuban curly hair, albeit short Cuban curly hair, but I swear by this stuff. It’s the only styling gel I’ve found that doesn’t dry out your hair, if anything it works almost like a leave-in conditioner or something cause my hair is always super silky smooth whenever I wash it out. Check out the brand I guess? Lmk how it goes haha

I use Paul Mitchell double hitter shampoo. It's sulfate free and if you shampoo two or three times a week like me then it lasts for months
Edit: Found it on Amazon

The combo that works for me is MG217 (coal tar) and Dermarest (salicylic acid shampoo), switching between them every few days. I prefer these to the T-Gel and T-Sal shampoos, I just prefer the consistency better. As someone else mentioned, using a very fine-toothed comb -- like a lice comb -- you can get the large flakes out. Good luck! :)

DERMAREST PSORIASIS SHAMP/COND works great for hair.

I'm not sure if you would rather have just the moisturizer if your bald, i've never used that version.

What kind of Cantu are you using? I've found the mens line to be pretty great.

  1. https://www.amazon.com/Cantu-Butter-Collection-Shampoo-Conditioner/dp/B01LTIAUA6
  2. https://www.amazon.com/Cantu-Butter-Collection-Leave-Conditioner/dp/B01LTIAU8S
  3. https://www.amazon.com/Cantu-Butter-Collection-Cream-Pomade/dp/B01LTIAUHY

I also use a twist it comb and what I basically do is wash my hair with the 3 in 1 about once a week, after that in goes the leave in conditioner, then some pomade. Make sure your hair is damp when you use the conditioner and pomade and a metal pick is a must, but honestly after sticking to this routine for a few weeks my hair is so soft that I kind of just pick it out and mold it into a shape.

A really good trick is after you use the twist comb pick UNDER the curls and twist a little (not enough to untangle anything) to add some volume and get a fuller look.

It sounds like your dog has inhalant allergies. Symptomatic treatment is pretty much the only realistic option, unfortunately.

We had a little dog with terrible inhalant allergies for years. She was constantly itchy and we tried everything. Then one day our vet recommended we try this shampoo. We bathed her 4 times in two weeks and our mostly bald-pink dog turned white with new hair growth and almost completely stopped scratching. My wife called it "Miracle Grow." We bathed her once a week after that and was more or less symptom free for the rest of her life. When she passed away she was in full coat.

Unfortunately the shampoo is currently discontinued, but there are other shampoos out there with similar ingredients. Combining this one with this one would be a pretty close analog.

If you do try the medicated shampoo remember to let your dog soak in the lather for 10 minutes and then to rinse well. Bathing twice a week for a month should tell you if it will be beneficial--if there's no improvement in that time, then you could try a different shampoo.

Don't buy into the whole colloidal oatmeal or naturopathic route if you can help it. If shampooing helps, it's because your dog's skin condition is caused by, or exacerbated by the microbes living on your dog's skin, so you need a product with real anti-microbial ingredients.

So this is in the files of the group I admin on facebook, another admin wrote it up for us but hopefully it will help you:

Mites are a royal pain in the ass. Here is how I fought them:

  1. Go to the vet. You need revolution for them as various mites are resistant to ivermectin. Cat dilution will be fine and go a long way. Excess medication should be stored in these to remain usable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IP87H5U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The hamsters need a drop on the back of the neck. I pull their scruff up and drop the medication onto what is between my fingers. Given what you guys are looking at, dose then once, then two weeks later, then three weeks later. Pregnant mums can be dosed, and the medication can be passed onto their pups. I wouldn't dose the pups until 4wks.

  2. Toss everything wooden. Yes, it sucks. I'm so sorry. You can try bake/boil/freeze but in my experience this DOES NOT WORK. I'd have a good cry, then pitch it and remember you can always buy/make it again.

  3. Clean everyone out. Use vinegar+water to clean everything. Be thorough. I would give everyone smaller cages if you can/have the means. Paper towel bedding, an igloo, water, food dish, and a wheel. That's it. They might be unhappy but they'll live. It’s a temporary accommodation.

  4. Vacuum all your carpets. Throw out your vacuum filter, or wash it very well. If you have hardwood, vacuum it for now. We'll get to floors/furniture/etc later.

  5. Hot wash/hot dry all your clothes, towels, bed sheets.

  6. Buy permethrin (https://www.amazon.com/Sawyer-Products-SP649-Permethrin-Repellent/dp/B001ANQVZE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468184846&sr=8-1&keywords=permethrin). If you have cats, get rid of your cats. Dogs and other animals that are mobile around the house need to be removed from the house for a while. Open windows and doors and put fans on. Then permethrin the hell out of everything. Anything you cannot wash (floors, carpets, sofa, chairs, curtains, bed) needs to be permethrined. It smells like gasoline. If you get light headed, get outside. After ~24 hours it's safe to go back. If you can, move the hamsters outside too. They like your backyard, they can be stacked there.

  7. After a week, clean everyone out. More paper towel. No bedding. Vinegar and water.

  8. Minimize contact and handling. If you do handle, wash up to the elbows with anti-bacterial dawn soap.

  9. There is an invermectin dose you can give yourselves to protect you from mites. (https://www.amazon.com/Denorex-Therapeutic-Maximum-Dandruff-Conditioner/dp/B00BR01AV0/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1468185361&sr=8-2&keywords=denorex) or (https://www.amazon.com/The-Healing-Tree-5060-Charcoal/dp/B008LUP5JC/ref=sr_1_10_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1468185373&sr=1-10&keywords=charcoal+soap) to alleviate itching.

  10. Clean every week. Dose after two weeks. Then dose again after three weeks. Keep on the DL to followers for now, then use it as a teaching opportunity for everyone else. I wouldn't adopt out babies until you guys are certain you're mite free.

  11. To find mites, they're easier on males - usually on the testes you can see them. Check and rifle through their balls and scrotum for bites. They also like to go under the arms.

There’s also the tape trick. Wrap a bit of tape around your finger so the sticky side is facing outwards, then brush your hamster with it. Just be careful the tape is not too sticky (run it over your clothes to reduce stickiness if needed). Mites will usually come up as black specks.

  12. YOU CAN DO IT! I believe in you.

Try this. Why would you use the serum over this?

Denorex Extra Strength Dandruff Shampoo + Conditioner 10 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BGB9IFA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_rtVUDb4T5JQTE

Does that serum keep your face completely clear?
