Awesome place. seems obvious to me that you need:

Art for the three big empty walls. Choose carefully what will work on the exposed masonry. Go for something that is in a deep frame and is not super rich in texture or it will clash with the wall.

A kitchen table

A rug under the bed

And maybe something to separate the bed (which is functioning like a king's throne) from the rest of the loft. Maybe a couple shoji dividers or a curtain?

u/BobTheHeart · 36 pointsr/streetwear

Just get a trunk from amazon and a lock, put the key for the lock on your keychain and you'd be good to go. Put the trunk under your bed and put anything of value in it. Also doubles as storage for anything else that won't fit in a closet/wardrobe.

So this time around, expecting boy #2, I didn't have near enough time to shop, but I tried to be resourceful and use what I already had! Luckily we had a crib, spent $30 on a dresser from a thrift shop and voila. Since I already have a boy, my baby sprinkle pretty much contributed to my glider purchase, monitor, and swing!

The ladder shelf is from Amazon, you can find it here for a steal $54!

The crib is from Babyletto Hudson Crib, I'm not sure they make gray anymore?

The glider/recliner is from Babies R Us, by Best Chairs- The Finley

The acrylic and gold side nesting tables are from Pier 1

Most of the other stuff came from either Target or TJ Maxx :)

I found this, it's nice... You should put them on it...I was thinking you could just put them on there and every once in a while I'll stop by and knock them onto the floor?

Available in Worf and Troi versions as well as Picard and Riker for a few bucks less.

u/deathbaloney · 7 pointsr/AnimeFigures

I'm definitely not in the "Detolfs are the only cabinets worth owning" camp--I also have an IKEA Malsjo and I recently got a double cabinet from Coaster Company that I like very much--but my Detolf has followed me to three different apartments (over the course of 5 years) and it's certainly been dependable. No stability issues, no structural concerns.

I'd probably avoid puck lights--they can create a spotlight effect that casts unappealing shadows on your figures. I use the Dioder lights from IKEA and they're fine. You could probably do better for cheaper if you were willing to get one of those spools of LEDs and a soldering tool, but the Dioders are definitely hassle-free.

Also, here are two options for dustproofing your case--both seem to work so it's really a matter of which you prefer the look of.

u/onebat4u · 7 pointsr/ActionFigures

This is what I have, they were cheaper when I got them and this is a smaller one but my favorite one was the last one I got it is from IKEA this one keeps the dust out the best.

u/Antistotle · 6 pointsr/sex

\> How do you maintain privacy?

It's going to depend on what you mean by "privacy". At one level you are "multicasting[1]" a sex show over an international network, so anyone can watch it, archive it, and etc. and on that level there is no privacy--what you are doing and what is turning you on about this is that you are PUBLICLY having sex and where others can interact with you at some level. That is inherently un-private.

What I suspect you are really asking is "how do I remain anonymous while do this". Which is a lot easier, depending on a few things.

  • First of all *do not* get famous. Have your fun, make a little bit of money, but don't make the news. People will tell you that "what goes on the internet is there forever". This is demonstrably not true, bit it is also true that stuff *does* float around for a long time. Don't do anything that would cause a search engine to create a link between your "real" identity and your nom de érotique.
  • If you in the US and expect to get paid for this...you will have to declare your earnings to the IRS. It is unpossible to avoid this legally, and forum rules (I think) would prohibit me from suggesting you break the law by finding an offshore webcam site that is willing to pay you in bitcoin, since hiding revenue from the government is illegal, and a nasty capitalist thing to do. However the IRS doesn't really care how you make your money (unless you're politically active in areas the IRS doesn't like, or you know someone who works there who might want to dig into your records), so you may not care if they know.
  • Another layer of anonymity is "how do I keep my current/future employers from finding out". Mostly don't tell the truth about *anything* in your webcam bio. If in real life you are Steven Smith from Kenosha, Wisconsin, your bio will be Stefan Jones from Milwaukee. ALWAYS come from a really big city.
  • Also there is "How do I keep this from friends/family/people I hang out with".
    • DO NOT TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB. Don't tell ANYONE in your real life about this, unless you manage to get famous and make enough money that you can live comfortably for a decade while the world forgets about you.
    • If you have any identifying marks that will be obvious on camera cover them. This includes tattoos. This may not be possible.
    • Buy a couple of reasonable quality wigs, or see if you can style your hair differently JUST when you're on camera.
    • Another poster mentioned masks. This is a good idea. Also costumes.
    • Depending on how much you would be making, consider doing the first few shows from a hotel room. Use a cheap chain like Motel 6, at least to start off with. If you make enough money doing it, go upscale. This could also let you do shower shows. If there's an adult themed hotel a couple hours in any direction from your home, you could REALLY have some fun.
    • If you don't want to do it from a hotel room, your own dwellings will be identifiable. Consider ways to hide that from potential viewers. Cheap room divider screens like this https://www.amazon.com/Legacy-Decor-4-Panel-Blossom-Divider/dp/B0062CEMPY (not a suggestion, just an example, but you could get two like that and put a couple lights behind them for a interesting background) can hide your personal stuff from the rest of the world.
  • Don't even expect anything you're doing to be hidden from authorities trying to find you.

[1] Technically inaccurate, but the so is broadcasting. However it is accurate enough)

This cabinet from Amazon is perfect for holding ~25 bottles. I blocked the window light.

u/raelovesplants · 4 pointsr/succulents

Make a grow light shelf. I'm an adult with an entire house but can't grow succulents and cactus indoors without one (because of location and window direction).

I have this shelf and these lights.

It's cheaper than actual grow light shelves, but I know it's still an investment. Maybe ask for one for Christmas or ask for Amazon cards.

Good luck!

Edit: that is not the right shelf. They must have discontinued it. It's more like this.

u/hashtag-blessed · 4 pointsr/Parenting

It sounds like your kids are craving more attention/interaction, which they probably get when they terrorize or destroy the house. I work with special needs kids that have some pretty extreme problem behaviors--tantrums, aggression to other kids and adults, destructive behavior, etc. I had a kid who would make herself throw up if she didn't get her way. This is how you get it to stop:

  1. If your kids are terrorizing the house, it likely has 2 motives. 1) To access something they want. 2) To get attention. If they "get into everything," get a box like this or this to keep things safe. These boxes lock with combo locks that young kids can't figure out. Removing that means of getting attention as much as possible will make you and your wife's lives easier since it will be less time spent physically controlling/redirecting your kids from hurricaning through your house.

  2. Give tons of positive attention for every single "good" behavior you see. Kid sitting quietly? Hugs/kisses/tickles/small treat (think 1 Skittle or something like that) and very specific praise. "Great job sitting so still and quiet!" If you just say "good job" your kid has no idea why you're saying it. If you praise them specifically for sitting quietly/following directions/helping mommy/etc. they will eventually know exactly what you want them to do if you tell them to sit quietly/do [instruction]/help mommy and do [instruction]. Kids want attention, and giving it to them when they do good/appropriate things will make good behavior more motivating.

  3. SUPER IMPORTANT, and the hardest thing to do: IGNORE bad behavior. Sounds bad, but hear me out. Kids act out most often because of being denied access to something they want or because they want your attention. If your kid is having a tantrum/destroying things/etc. for either reason, ignoring that behavior will teach the kid that it doesn't work. Ignoring doesn't mean let them destroy things without intervening, it means that they get zero reaction or attention from you (no eye contact, no talking) as you block them from doing anything destructive or physically dangerous.
Example: Kids want something, get mad and tantrum when mom removes it from reach or says no.
What to do: No eye contact. It's okay to tell the kids, "You can't have [whatever it is] right now. When you have a quiet voice and nice hands we can play with (something they like and can safely play with)." Then let them cry or tantrum. Crying never killed anyone. This is hard because the first several times you use this method on the kids they will be pissed. Acting a fool has been working for them their whole lives, so they'll probably tantrum themselves to sleep/exhaustion several times trying to get what they want. Let them. If you can't confine them to a baby proofed area or your house is set up in a way that they can climb or hurt themselves, you will need to be on your shit until you gain a little instructional control over the kids. (There really isn't a way to baby gate one room and take out the stuff you don't want them to touch?) This means that if they're doing something physically dangerous, like climbing, you block this behavior every time they try without giving them any attention for it--no eye contact, no talking to them, just pick them up from whatever they're attempting to do and move them away from it. They will run back to it and try again. Repeat, repeat, repeat. They'll get tired and give up eventually. If you let them get away with it, or give in after initially blocking the behavior, it will keep happening. And it will be harder to get them to stop in the long run. If your kids are just having a run of the mill tantrum, let them lay there and tantrum. It's not hurting or inconveniencing anyone but them.

  4. CONSISTENCY. "No" has to mean NO, no matter what. And if your kid is acting inappropriately in any way--whining, yelling, crying--you cannot give them what they want until they are behaving nicely. If they're crying because they want X, and it's okay for them to have it, tell them, "You can have X when you have a quiet voice and nice hands." Then hold the item where they can see it and as soon as they are quiet for a few seconds straight, give them the item and say, "I like your quiet voice, here's your X." If they sometimes get things when they're bratting out they will keep trying that behavior as a means of getting things every single time. (It's like if your parents gave you $100 every time you mentioned how broke you are for a while, then only every second or third time you mentioned being broke. You'd still try it each time you wanted money because it works sometimes!)

  5. When you want your kids to not do something, always tell them what they can/should do instead. Just saying "no" is frustrating for kids because they feel attacked and don't know what to do. Instead of saying "Don't do that!" you should say, "No climbing on the counter. You can climb on the beanbags or on the slide." (Go to a kids' consignment shop and on Craigslist--the Fisher Price slide that fits in a bedroom or living room and bean bag chairs are super cheap second hand.) Carry or guide them to where it's okay to climb, or to a toy they can play with, as you say this. If they start running back to what you told them not to do, start with the remove-with-no-eye-contact-or-talking each time they try that. Keep doing it until they give up.

  6. To teach them that they get praise for doing what they're told, tell them to do things you know they want to do, and then praise them for listening to mom or dad/following directions. Gradually start telling them to do other things that aren't necessarily preferable, but are still easy (close the door, copy me, clean up the puzzle, etc), and increase the difficulty of directions as you gain compliance. Start off with telling them to do things you can "help" (force) them to do if they don't listen. Like if you tell them to clean up the puzzle and they try to run away or ignore you, physically (but gently) return them to the task, saying only "It's time to clean up the puzzle." Then use your hand to bring their hand to the puzzle pieces (again, you don't have to be aggressive with this, use the minimum force necessary), put a piece in their hand, and move their hand with the puzzle piece to put it away. Repeat until the kid starts doing it without you physically making them. If you have to "help" them with every single piece, that's okay--the important thing is to show them that when you give a direction, ignoring it or running away is not an option and will not work. Don't give any directions you can't follow through on. As soon as they start doing as they're told without you physically guiding them to do so, praise them a lot: "Great job cleaning! I love how you're listening to mommy and cleaning up the puzzle. Good job!"

I know this sounds like a lot. And it will feel like it isn't working for a while, because their behavior will get worse before it gets better (Google "extinction burst" to see what I mean). But you're a good dad for recognizing what's going on and wanting to improve it instead of just trying to avoid letting the behaviors happen.

BIG NOTE If your child is 2 and not talking, have you looked into referrals for an assessment of any speech or developmental delays? In most states children with a delay of any kind are entitled to a certain amount of free therapy services. Giving your child a way to communicate, whether it's speech or signing if he's not at the speech level just yet, will reduce so much frustration. Ask your pediatrician, it can't hurt! If you do qualify for therapy services that would also give your wife a break from constant childcare--ABA services are often available in-home, and while your wife would need to be home, the therapist would be working with your son so your wife would get a break (at least as much of a break as you can get with just one kid instead of 2). PLEASE look into this--if you qualify for any kind of services it will make all of your lives so much easier, and it shouldn't cost too much if they find that there's a developmental delay of some kind.

Good luck, man! Parenting is HARD!

My SO and I recently moved in with some friends for a few months while i finish grad school (didn't want to renew a 1 year lease when I hoping to be done in less than 6 mos).

I have two bikes, SO has one, and our new housemates have three. Right now the 4 nice bikes are corralled around the dining room table and two less valuable ones are in the shed in the back yard. The plan is to build this which should store the 4 indoor bikes for less then $30.

Since it sounds like you only have one bike to store, you a) modify to have one vertical bike hook, or b) buy two of the bike hooks and mount it horizontally along the wall (like the REI rack) - whichever works best in your place.

As for how to hide it, with the money you saved on a premade bike rack you could buy a folding screen to go in front of the bike.

u/PhazonSamus · 3 pointsr/BadDragon

We use something like this guy. Lives at the foot of our bed. It just looks like the kind of trunk most people keep extra blankets in, so it doesn't scream sex toys at anyone that happens to come in the room. Our bad dragons we just wrap in cheap cotton towels or hand towels depending on the size to keep them away from anything else in there that might be bad for them.

When we were in college we had a roommate that liked to steal make-up and even underclothes. I got myself something like this:

Storage Trunk

Lockable Chest

And that worked pretty well. When she had the gall to say something about it I let her know it's because she stole my things and didn't return them - so I couldn't trust her with my belongings.

I still kept things locked up because those kind of hams have no shame and will do it again. They are weak willed and selfish.

Not sure what your idea exactly is for cheap but here is a couple of older pictures of how my game room is set up and stuff is displayed in case it gives you any ideas. Also I keep my games alphabetically organized and CIB close but separate from cartridge only. The displays used for the games, figures etc were on sale for around 130ish each IIRC from wayfair.com. The ladder style display used for my Dragon Quest and Blizzard plushies was from Amazon for like 80 or so.

I thought about doing that too! Then I figured I'm not THAT handy. I don't doubt I could rig something up. The question becomes whether I'm capable of making it look nice or not.

For what it's worth, someone else mentioned a billy bookcase. I also have one of those with the oxberg glass door. Additionally, I have a media cabinet that I got off of amazon that is deep enough for a row of 3DS games. Sadly I don't have any NES/SNES/N64/Genesis boxes to test. Whatever you end up doing, definitely post an updated pic! I'd love to see what you come up with.

Here is the link. They were $60 each, not $50 as I first reported. They were on sale when I bought them and I see now that they are being sold at almost $67 as of today. There are others on amazon from $70-90 depending on quality and finish.

The main reason I bought these 6ft tall privacy dividers was so that I could get up and walk in and out of my house without worry about my neighbors seeing me, as opposed to something like this which only gives privacy to the lower portion of the deck. Covering just the lower portion of the deck railing still wouldn't solve my privacy issues.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0135AV5XC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The primary downside so far is that if it is really windy or there are strong gusts (10+mph), my dividers will fall over. Each divider weighs only 10-12lbs. I end up leaning them slightly against the deck's railing as a result or place the divider between a deck chair and the railing.

I discussed installing a curtain and rod system on the two open sides of our back deck but that idea was shot down by Mrs. Durty South since it would become a permanent fixture to the deck.

I'd check ikea's catalogue though. Cause if I remember right it was $80 directly from them, but the shipping is brutal if a store is not close by. I'm sure there is some form of equivalent if they don't make this one anymore.

Bought it about 6 years ago and it's held up through 2 moves so far. Dimensions are almost identical to the DETOLF and I prefer this one because the shelves don't sway with every little vibration. However, you can generally get the DETOLFs way cheaper. I have a couple of them too and they're great for the price I paid.

u/Siedrah · 2 pointsr/AnimeFigures

Awesome! You should get them a display cabinet like a detolf from IKEA, or if that isnt an option, this glass curio cabinet that is basically the same thing!

u/GlisteningDragon · 2 pointsr/AnimeFigures

Be careful though, if there is no Ikea around they will charge a lot for shipping. You can find them on ebay for roughly $150. I bought this for $166 and free shipping from Amazon. If there is an Ikea around, defiantly get the cheaper one.

u/throwawaylsjkcnasnd · 1 pointr/AmItheAsshole

NTA you are not an asshole.

Lots, maybe most, parents feel this way. Don't feel bad about it. However...it might be wise to read some psychology books about the teenage mind...to understand why so many people here are saying that teenagers need privacy and solitude.

.

She might be wanting to keep paper journals, but can't be true to herself in her writings, if she knows there is a risk that her parents or siblings might find it and read it. Journaling can be a very healthy tool for a teenager. Sometimes paper helps one think in ways that a password protected word document does not.

.

Truth is you could make her appreciate how lucky she is to even have her own room, let alone one with a door on it. There were times in my teens, when my door was not a door, but rather a doorway. My father had removed the door after I broke it one day (it was a cheap plywood makeshift door to begin with). So I went months before he got around to fixing me new one. I actually nailed a blanket up over the doorway at one point....What I am saying is that you could make her appreciate having had a door, by removing the door entirely, and just giving her one of those changing curtains that people used to use in the early 1900s, and still use in Japan. ie: https://www.amazon.com/Legacy-Decor-4-Panel-Blossom-Divider/dp/B0062CEMPY/ref=sr_1_8?camp=1789&creative=9325&keywords=privacy+screen&linkCode=ur2&qid=1564416150&s=home-garden&sr=1-8

This would likely cause a big rift between the two of you though, as she would want to rebel more, do drugs more to escape, and may even grow to hate you. This is reality. You can't have your cake and eat it too. When you impose restrictions on another sentient mentally competent human being, they will feel as though their freedom is being tread on. Rebellion will become inevitable. You can try to restrict her and micromanage her or you can try to empower her and support her, and let her live her life. The control is no longer in your hands, and it shouldn't be. One person should not control another.

.

Some of us only feel as though we can let our guard down, and relax all tenseness of our minds, when we know that no one's eyes are upon us. Knowing that no one will barge in (here is where the lock comes into play)...is a confidence that affords us comfort to do things like experimenting with our clothing, dancing unjudged, exploring our sexuality, journaling, building shrines of the guy we have a crush on at school (just kidding).

,

During high school, as you might vaguely remember (I'm not calling you old, I'm not young anymore either)...well highschool is just a pressure pressure everywhere sort of thing, of constantly feeling like you are being judged from the left and from the right. So much so that teens...they get this mentality of....a sort of continuous fear of being judged...so their desire for a lock on their door can indeed be a sincere rational hope for a little fortress of solitude in their havoc highschool world. A place where they can feel that no one, not even their parents or siblings, will see and thus judge. A parent may not intend to judge, but that does not free the teen from the reality, that they will feel judged.

.

Yes, it is possible, that she wants a lock, so that she can stash drugs. However, if a teen wants to do drugs, they will find a way. Whether behind a locked door in the safety of her home....or at a boyfriend's house...where she can be taken advantage of when her mind is off-key because of a drug.

.

Ok yeah it would be annoying to have to have the lights off all the time while you’re still in the living room.

What about a room partition like this placed in front of the vivariums?

I don't live near an IKEA, but I also don't own a glass case. There are other options, but getting close to a detolf price range is difficult (not impossible).

If you can, try searching your local craigslist listings to see people getting rid of their glass cabinets. If not, Amazon sells this which is pretty close to a detolf.

I'm loving the vibe you've got! The main thing that makes this look dorm-ish to me is the clutter. I would suggest getting a trunk to store a lot of your stuff in (books, boxes, bags...) This trunk is a little more expensive but classy as fuck and would go well with everything else you've got going on in this room.

First off find out what her dorm allows and what they already provide. My mom got me a microwave and then we found out I couldn't have it (and the dorm provided them anyway)

Shower shoes/caddy. More than one set of sheets. A good pillow and mattress topper, especially if she's a light sleeper or has issues with new mattresses. A fan (window fan if it will fit, a tower fan is also nice). Power strips! the girls in the room next to mine didn't have one and having an extra made me one of their favorite people haha. A laptop lock (if she has a laptop). And last but far from least, A locking trunk. I got mine when I was 18 and at 29 I still own it. It's great storage, doubles as a small table, and it gives you a safe place to lock things away. When I lived in not so great neighborhoods I felt a lot better having my good camera gear locked away in there. Right now it protects a ton of old documents from my mother and grandparents.

I had the option to move in 4 days early in my dorm in exchange for helping other people move in on the main move in day. When my mom dropped me off we went out to dinner at the nearest pizza place and she got me a giftcard. Being able to buy a pizza designed to feed over a dozen people on move in day was amazing. It helped me meet some new people, become better friends with some of the other move-in helpers I'd met, and offering left overs to my RAs put me immediately on their good side. She should definitely have some (at least somewhat healthy) snacks for herself, but having some to share is a big plus.

Crappy Paint Mockup of how I'd live as a single young person in this space: https://imgur.com/a/2PCm7bA (If you are a couple and need TWO sets of multiple monitors, this wouldn't be sufficient, but I can't tell how many computers you need running at once here.)

I agree that your first stop should probably be ikea. They'll have good-enough desks that will look pretty good and work pretty well for a solid decade. You might look into an adjustable height desk so you can play with your optimal height. Or with a standard fixed desk, I agree on the previous comment that you probably want an L-shape.

Why do you hate couches? When I was in a small apartment, I got a "chair and a half" -- it easily fit two people that were happy to be close together. (It had a storage ottoman (more seating!) and folded out into a twin bed. It was the best.) You do need SOME nice comfy seating to curl up in. Ikea also has plenty of chairs. You do want at least two and something to put drinks and books down on nearby. Could be two chairs and an end table, or a coffee table, or a rigid tray on an ottoman.

Bookshelves. A nice freestanding ladder shelf would be good. Tons of styles, like https://www.amazon.com/SONGMICS-Bookcase-Bathroom-Furniture-ULLS44X/dp/B074X7WT6D

Here is a storage ottoman that is easily moved from place to place. Great to have a few around to unfold and put away as needs change. Less expensive than the fancy upholstered kind. You can rest your legs on it from a chair and then use it as extra seating when you have people over. https://www.amazon.com/SONGMICS-ULSF47K-Foldable-Space-Saving-Capacity/dp/B07JQ22YYS

The desk chairs look really ... young. Hard to advise there, though. If you spend significant time on the computer, I think it's better to prioritize function over form, or you WILL have body problems down the road. Get nicer looking chairs if you can. If you can't and these are working great for your body... eh. Make everything else look nice. You probably only need one desk chair, unless there's two of you with two PCs?

You may want a kitchen island to give you more counter space and storage space. You desperately need counter space. Here is an inexpensive one but they are all over the map for style. https://www.amazon.com/Casual-Home-Kitchen-American-Hardwood/dp/B00ROX6VRW/

You probably also want some shelves between the dishwasher and the balcony. Shallow for just glassware or deeper for holding actual dishes. Just give yourself a wide path between that and any island that divides the kitchen from the living.

I am thinking you don't need a dining table and chairs, so make your living space do dining duty. Or get a kitchen island unit that includes a bar and put barstools there.

Don't forget lamps. Good lighting will make this a home, and those will travel with you.

https://www.amazon.com/Coaster-Contemporary-Black-Curio-Cabinet/dp/B00FPGP4KA

But I'm wondering what other people have done as far as display cases/cabinets.

Looks like the room could use some color. Maybe an aztec throw like this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/605366917/vintage-crochet-afghan-indian-blanket?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=aztec%20blanket&ref=sc_gallery-1-3&plkey=def57b6f88685a853547f5c8b1982857cc741252:605366917&bes=1

A big plant in one of the corners could go a long way to adding some life to the room. I'm also a huge fan of ladder bookshelves like: https://smile.amazon.com/ClosetMaid-1316-4-Tier-Ladder-Bookcase/dp/B01N7S3EJS/ref=sr_1_4?s=furniture&ie=UTF8&qid=1540479478&sr=1-4&keywords=ladder+bookshelf with some books, small plants, and pictures. Hope this helps. Good luck finishing up the place!

I think it will be a little difficult to find something as streamlined as the soto for that price. You'd be better saving up for the real deal (because in the end it's what you want and it will make you happy) but if you do find an alternative that you like, go for it. Cheap ottomans aren't going to have the sleek legs that a soto one will. You might be able to find a nice cushion or decent low profile ottoman and buy your own legs, but that's just a suggestion.

Good luck .

u/DrConradVerner · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

If you're looking for a display most people recommend Detolfs if you have an ikea near you. When you get the chance you should check out the sub's faq link. You might find some useful things there. Nice collection though and welcome to the sub :)

EDIT: I personally use this from amazon since I don't have an ikea anywhere near me. They're pricier than detolfs but they are considerably larger than detolfs as well.

u/Dr_Raaky · 1 pointr/edmproduction

You're probably gonna have to glue stuff to the wall, but here's how you can do it without leaving any marks.

Use these: https://www.amazon.com/Command-Picture-Hanging-8-Medium-17203-ES/dp/B000OF6X48/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1535906789&sr=8-3&keywords=command+strips+velcro

They're basically plastic velcro strips with water soluble adhesive. You put one on each back corner of the thing you want to hang (like a picture, or in your case an acoustic foam panel), and another on the wall where you want to hang the thing. Then you can basically put the panel on and off the wall like a sticky note.

When you move out, just wipe the strips on the wall with a sponge and the adhesive will start to dissolve. After a few seconds, you can slowly remove the velcro strip with no damage to the wall. More instructions come with the package but that's basically it.

If you REALLY don't want to hang stuff on the wall, you can buy some room divider/screen thingies and hang your acoustic panels on them: https://www.amazon.com/Legacy-Decor-4-Panel-Blossom-Divider/dp/B0062CEMPY/ref=lp_3734261_1_2?s=furniture&ie=UTF8&qid=1535907125&sr=1-2 There may already be a sound/acoustic product like this, I don't know.

Two more things: I wouldn't bother with acoustic treatment unless you know for sure you really need it, since it's probably kinda expensive and a PITA to set up. As for the neighbors, if you live in a detached home, the walls will do a better job of keeping in the sound than you think. Remember, your neighbors will be protected by TWO sets of walls (yours and theirs). So don't worry. Just make sure to play your music at its loudest during daytime hours only, and maybe listen from outside the house just to get a feel for how loud it will sound to your neighbors. But if it's an apartment or townhouse then you're shit outta luck.

Might be smaller than you're looking for, but one possible alternative is using those football or basketball display case things. They should be relatively cheap and be large enough to hold a few scales. Not sure what the budget is but for example something like this could work like a mini-Detolf.
