I actually have a nifty after market gas cap for my car that I got ages ago that really helps with that.
Though there are just some days I look down at my hands and go "seriously?" when they refuse to do something they could do fine the day before...

I got one of these, they self key. I also got one of these, which need tumblers installed.
For the gas cap, stay the hell away from dealerships to key it. One wouldn't do it unless I ordered the cap through them, and the other wanted $80 and said they couldn't guarantee they could key it correctly. I went to a reputable locksmith and it took 20 minutes and cost $15. I'd also recommend this, and I used silicone lube in the gas cap tumbler since it would stick at first. Haven't had an issue since.

In theory, one of these green caps should fit a Mk4. I decided that I didn't need to order one, since I'm the only person that ever fills my tank.

There are always some negative reviews, but like Is said I have the 1.25 and the can swells up in the heat as it truly is vapor leak proof for me. If I go with these I will get the flexible spout extension and the DOT approved cap.

A fuel transfer pump is one option.
Another option is to replace your gas can nozzle if it is slow, I just converted all of mine to something like this:
