I bought an 8 pack of LED strips [off of Amazon] (https://www.amazon.com/XT-AUTO-Flexible-Waterproof-Decoration/dp/B014V4RR9C?th=1) for $9 and a blue toggle switch from Autozone for $4. Everything else (wires, twist-on wire connectors, zip ties, etc) I pulled out of my dad’s garage.

I used the ashtray light for power and installed the toggle switch in the center compartment (the one under your arm). It took me several hours to get it right (it didn’t work in series but parallel worked just fine). Did it all off of my existing circuit knowledge from high school which was more than sufficient.

It looks great cruising down the highway, more than makes up for the broken map lights, turns on with the rest of the lights automatically unless I choose to turn them off, and doesn’t take up any extra space.

This is all DIY. Snagged these LED bolts off Amazon and just tapped into the wiring for the existing cargo light. Ran everything along the cabling into the hatch, drilled a pair of 7/16" holes for the lights, and hooked everything up.

I upgraded the Interior LEDs, Floor Mats, and Cargo Mat. Installed a dashcam.
Also, here's a cool little hack where you can disable the headlights on the Daytime Running Lights so that just the LED is on. It looks sweet!

u/AgentOrange96 · 5 pointsr/crv

Things I've done include:

  • LED the instrument cluster* and HVAC control cluster
  • LED all the interior lights
  • LED the rear lights
  • Install roof racks
  • Stainless steel exhaust system
  • Got all black (LX style) door handles
  • Upgraded the speakers because I thought I blew the old ones. I didn't.
  • Front and rear dash cam (Although the parking lines aren't helpful)

Things I'd like to do include:

  • Trailer hitch (although I'd go with a Curt one, not the Honda one)
  • VTEC THAT BAD BOIII (CRVTEC)

There are some other things too. If you have the LX, you can buy a remote for keyless entry (LX specific apparently) because it already has a keyless entry system built in. It just doesn't come with a remote.

There are some other official accessories, though many tend to be surprisingly destructive. (Drilling holes, cutting things with hack saws, etc.) I'd recommend checking out this Honda Accessories site.

If you live in the northeast, I do recommend a stainless steel exhaust system because the regular steel one rust out at the drop of a hat. Although I'd be careful where you source parts. The header I got didn't fit right and the muffler I got failed quite quickly. :/

Initially I just replaced the door handle I broke in an ice storm, but then I liked the black look and replaced them all.

*For the PRINDL21 lights, I replaced the bulbs with these. For the rest of the dashboard lights I got Two of these and One of these. To do the HVAC controls I needed another set of the T5's and for the cabin lights I just needed one of these.

I can’t help with headlights info, but I have a 2015 3 and did the LED Interior, reverse, license plate and parking lights upgrade. Really pretty easy and much better light all around. I used these and they all are still working great:

To mount it, I took some measurements and modeled the parts up in AutoCAD. The blue part is what I made. It's made from a Delrin block and has a Helicoil in the fastener hole. I finished it by glueing a piece or rubber to the fork contact surface with RTV.

Below is the above design in reality. All the parts are black, so it's hard to see the individual parts.

Congratulations on getting an ND. If you are getting one with a manual transmission don't look at anything other than the Club or Club Brembo trim levels, as those are the only ones that come with a limited slip differential.

If you are going to be buying a used ND, be sure to read over the threads pertaining to roof and transmission issues on the early model cars. The TSB's put out by Mazda also give good guidelines as to what to look for. You should be okay buying a early year used car as long as you look over the known wear points on the roof and check the build date on the transmission.

The following is a good basic list of items that any ND owner could install that would be enjoyable upgrades as stand alone upgrades or as a starting point for further modifications dependent on intended use.

3M Invisible Bra for the front bumper. Can't stress this enough, this car eats rocks to the face like crazy...

Stubby Antenna, stock one looks like a RC car antenna

Interior dome light and trunk light LEDs

Reverse light LEDs

Side marker and license plate light LEDs

Wheel Spacers if you intend to keep the stock wheels, Stock wheels are very sunk into the wheel well and look strange from the factory.

Sway bars, the stock bars are very thin and allow LOTS of body roll. Of all the parts that I listed, only the front sway bar has a high degree of difficulty to install assuming you have basic mechanical skills.

Stock exhaust is very anemic, recommend some muffler choices based on if you are looking for a more refined but quiet exhaust or something louder and more exotic. Don't bother with midpipe unless you are looking at headers as well. Cold air intakes for the ND have been proven to do absolutely nothing via dyno testing.

HKS Legamax Premium. More on the quiet side, gets louder with a great refined sound as it breaks in.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-XdBGS1nwI

Roadster Sport Race. Loudest exhaust but still okay to daily drive. Has an exotic sound.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvK18FsWilE

Also, I Just had the Innovated Dynamics spoiler in your picture delivered. FYI, Jose the guy that makes these is known for long delays and not answering emails /phone calls. If you order one of these spoilers don't expect to see it for 4 to 6 weeks. I'll post up some pictures once it is painted and mounted.

I have more upgrades done to my 16' Jet Black Mica ND with more planned for the future. DM me if you want to see pictures of my car on IG or if you would like an additional opinion on parts I have not covered in this post.

u/DaleATX · 4 pointsr/Miata

Not a difficult modification. You will need to buy the sockets for 194 bulbs and then wire them into the tail lights using quick splice clips. Remove the reflector assembly, and then carefully drill a hole the size of the socket body (don't go too far or you will drill into the reflector). Then use a file to cut two little slots on the edge of the hole to accommodate the 'tabs' on the socket body. Then assemble. That's it.

I have a 2016 CX-5 GT, here's what I ordered and I love every one of them:

  1. Steering wheel cover - Much more comfy to hold, especially in winter with gloves on

  2. Interior LEDs - Better and brighter white color

  3. Cargo Tray - Great for hauling things that would scratch your interior up. Also great for spills. I was hauling a lawn mower that leaked gas. No problem at all. Hosed off the tray and done.

  4. Soft Cargo Liner - This will protect the back of your seats when folded down, and puts a soft pad to protect things you put in the cargo area. Works nice in combination with the Cargo Tray above.

  5. Weathertech Floor Liners - These are great and fit perfectly front and back. I live in a snowy winter area, so these have seen snow, ice, salt, spills, boots, etc. And they hold up excellently. You REALLY want these, trust me.

  6. Moonroof Deflector - The moonroof on my CX-5 was really noisy, this helped a lot. I installed it myself, was a little bit of a pain but anyone could do it.

u/TheHoneyCreeper · 3 pointsr/Lightbar

green and red are some navigation lights i picked up at Academy for 10 bucks. But the real gems are the single white 9watt led. Its all powered by a 12v battery that are used for trail cameras that i re purposed for my lights and fish finder. The power goes into a waterproof fuse box i made. From there one fuse powers the fish finder the other powers my lights. The main switch is built into the fuse box itself. All of it is inside the hull out of the way.

u/mdezzi · 3 pointsr/chevycolorado

check out this post on coloradofans.

I bought these lights off amazon and these connectors.

If you remove the left tail light there is a wire pigtail there where the OEM bed lights connect to. It is already prewired to the bed light button in the dash. I extended the wiring all the way to the front of the bed and then spliced in two of the connectors (one for left rail one for right rail).

I cut the LED strip in half and wired one on either side. I used Gorrilla double stick mounting tape to mount up under the bed rails.

All in all it took about 2-3 hours.

u/ace13ace0nater · 3 pointsr/HondaRebel300

Here is the headlight, you get 2 because they are car bulbs, but they aren’t too expensive. They are the H4 size they they fit perfectly into the stock headlamp.

Here is a video on how to instal it. I really like how bright and white it is, instead of that nasty yellow tinge.

u/nouvie · 3 pointsr/CX5

It's not a huge thing, but I've enjoyed this upgrade.

The cargo privacy cover is definitely worth the bucks.

When camping, be careful of draining your battery. I camped last week, charged 3 cell phones and played the radio for about 45 minutes at low volume, then didn't have enough juice to start the car in the morning. After a jump I had an error regarding the electronic parking brake (don't engage the brake if you're at risk of killing the battery while parked) - it went away after a couple of drives, but it had me a little worried.

u/[deleted] · 3 pointsr/bikecommuting

I bought mine from a local walmart since they were on-sale.

They are pretty similar to these though on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/HOTSYSTEM-Off-Road-Motorcycle-License-Parking/dp/B00MVMRS6O/ref=sr_1_13?keywords=12v+led&qid=1567171577&s=gateway&sr=8-13

It says 9-watt consumption per light, but I doubt it's pulling that much. It's closer to 1-2 watts each which uses very little power.

I also took out the airbag light and now my truck beeps 25x when I start it so I have to go back in and replace that now, so don't do that. 01 ranger 2.3l

I'll link the actual ones I bought online below but they're just like the thin strip LED's you can buy at Walmart. There's a gap all around the headlight housing you can squeeze them into. Very easy and cheap! Looks great! I had the guys wire them to my parking lights when I got my Viper remote car starter put in.

BEFORE YOU BUY!

  1. these are not premium bulbs. Do they look good? Yes. Only one bulb has gone out in a year and a half. I purchased the exact same kit and when I replaced the one license plate bulb that went out, i noticed there is a slight shade of difference between the bulbs I bought a year and a half ago and the new ones. but when I first purchased the set of bulbs, they all looked the same color.
  2. I had to buy a separate cargo light. the one provided was not really bright especially with the dark interior. I had to special order it off an LED website. I forget where I got it. But I just looked for one that put out more light. It helped a lot.
  3. the license plate light cover takes a bit of force to pop off. I was scared at first to do it but it is fine. Just don't know you're going to need to apply a little bit of pressure to get it to pop off
u/spillern1 · 2 pointsr/Jeep

I drilled holes to flush mount these LED bolts and ran the wires in the open cavity behind the liner:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01ADHUXGU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ViLEyb6HW4P21

On those LED bolts I wired male connectors from this pack to meet the female ends run to an inline fuse on the hot and ground, all terminated into a waterproof switch I flush mounted by the driver's side cubby. Waterproofed these connections to ensure no issues with wiring:

Yeah super easy I think it took 30 minutes total to replace all the lights. The only one I had issues with the lift gate light, I had a hard time figuring out how to get to it. I used this kit it came with a little prying tool to get the lights out. I like them because they give off a much cooler light, which I feel makes the interior feel more modern/luxurious look.

I'll chime in on the headlight here too. Ive had my 300 for two weeks and have wanted to do these exact same mods too haha. Go LED, so much easier and I promise it'll be as bright as you're looking for. I found this via a guy who does Rebel 300 mods on YouTube. You will even see his review on the Amazon product page I linked. Make sure and get the H4. Comes with two, surprisingly, for $40. Also, I did yellow tint on my headlight afterwards if that piques your interest. I'll post it, so you can find it on my Reddit posts. I bought and installed SEALIGHT LEDS for high and low beam lamps in my 2019 WRX base and have had no problems. Worth noting though is that if you do the high beam bulbs as LED you'll have to unplug a connection that enables the daytime running lights, or else you'll be running full high beams anytime you don't have your regular lights on. Also, I got a pack of LEDS that I was able to use for the C lamps, trunk and license plate illuminators. Plus I upgraded the interior lights to LED. Have had everything installed since March with no problems.

These work pretty well in my stock housings. I have (h4 version ) installed in three bikes. OPT7 Motorcycle LED Headlight Kit w/ Arc-Beam Bulb - H4 9003 - 6000K Cool White - 40w 3,500Lm CREE - 2 Yr Warranty https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WVJR0D8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_2GGhzb9DW1R3Z

The instructions are real not clear, but the bulb separates with a twist from the mounting plate. Install the metal part, then your headlight bulb boot then insert the bulb assembly and twist to lock.
Make sure the bulb is positioned correctly with the leds pointing perfectly horizontal with the housing, otherwise you'll get a weird pattern high on one side - low on the other.

As for swapping the headlight bulb out I’ve used these and the beam is just the same as the halogen it replaced just whiter and a longer throw. OPT7 Fluxbeam LED Headlight Single Bulb for Motorcycle - H4 9003-6000K Cool White - 40w 3,500Lm CREE - 2 Yr Warranty https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WVJR0D8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_LnCMBbYDWH4TC
I’ve had no issues with people flashing me or any other issues. Two things are important. 1. This bulb comes apart to install it, this is not immediately evident, but a close inspection will show the bulb at two parts. The “holding ring - like the H4 has ) twists and comes off the the bulb assembly toward the front. You install this first, then your rubber protective boot and then the light assembly goes in and turns to lock. Now item 2. Is the only issue and fault with the bulb. When you insert and 1/2 turn, you can go beyond having the bulb exactly vertical in the assembly which will skew your lighting all out of spec, it will glare and be a non uniform pattern. The fix. Mark the fan assembly with a vertical line perpendicular to the actual LED chips. Now you know where vertical is and can install the assembly into the boot and the holder. Mine was about 5 degrees off if I just pushed in and turned till it stopper. I put mine vertical and then put a 1/4 dot of silicone between the holder and the bulb. Keeps it from moving, light is perfect. These bulbs have a fan assembly, it’s completely waterproof and I’ve submerged my DS in a few creeks with no failure of the light the fan just stays running under water till you turn off the ignition.

Many other people have as well. Some people put them in the plastic circle tabs in the ceiling over the trunk. But to do that you have to drill a hole in the sheet metal of the ceiling. I didn't want to do that, so I popped off both D-pillar covers and drilled holes in those. Worked great. They are high enough up so they don't get covered unless the trunk is 100% packed.
I soldered them into the switch for the stock trunk light. That way the automatically turn on and off when opening and closing the trunk.

Yeah I was looking at that. I also noticed a few people on mazda247 went with This kit from Amazon $18.99. A bit curious what the quality difference and brightness is on them.

Thanks! I was considering these but they do seem very white: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HRMSX6W/

I used 4 LED Strips for under dash and seats. Green T-10 Leds for gauges and green T-5s for HVAC and Defroster.

T4R dot org was my guiding source on this exact same mod; there are a few threads on there that are worth reading (use the sidebar 4Runner Resource Guide here to find your way).

I went with H11 LED Morimoto 2Stroke 2.0s for the low beams, CougarMotor LED 9005s for the high beams, and Alla H16 LEDs for the fogs. Finished the complete install in 30-45 minutes this weekend (fogs took the most time and effort; plenty of install vids for all bulbs on the Tube/internets). My dad loves the output on everything so much that he's looking to switch all his Highlander lights over.

Can't speak to the colored lights or film for anything, and I've noticed a slight flicker in the DRLs but nothing that dissuades me from using them (and they don't appear to operate like reports from others about LED/HID DRLs functioning at high beam power).
