My kid was a big fan of this shape sorter, his toy scooter, Duplo train, and an assortment of balls and tupperware. It's not quiet, but this vtech walker was also a hit.

This F'n thing

We had the girl's version, but that thing goes off randomly, is loud as f*ck, and immensely annoying.

Changing from a bucket seat to a convertible helped but i see that seat is already a convertible. Cool toys helped. My son loves this one but he was older than yours when we added it so ymmv:. In addition, someone back there to feed him helped (at least until he was full). The single biggest helper was honestly a tablet with Sesame Street or Daniel tiger on it. I waited so long to do it as i wanted to limit screen time but i should have done it sooner. A frazeled Mama driving is more detrimental. Also, he loves k-pop so i play that as well. We tried white noise, silence, childrens songs, my favorite music, an array of toys, someone back there to play with him and none of it made any difference to him. Hes still not a big fan of car rides and will sleep for 1/2 hour max but the tablet and k-pop (hes a huge fan of PSY) are the biggest helpers. Good luck, i know how much it sucks :(

Cautious kids are great. I actually thought my kid was going to be an early walker, since she was on the early side to crawl and to pull herself to stand, but she REFUSED to walk. She was totally capable to walk around 11-12 months, but would have a death grip on whatever she was holding on to. I didn't mind, since I knew it wasn't a development issue, it was just because she hated falling! Around 13-14 months we could trick her into taking a couple steps if we distracted her, but as soon as she realized she wasn't holding onto anything, she'd sit down immediately. When she did start to walk, she was really ready, and really stable that she rarely fell. She still did, learning to walk is hard, but compared to my friends with FEARLESS early walkers, she didn't fall at all lol. They'd be so battered, covered in bruises always, where my kid has only had a couple. She's 17 months now, and though all her friends are now climbing all over everything, she has no interest. I really don't mind that she took her time, waited until she was ready.

It's hard when you're around babies the same age and your kid is still not walking (we were SURROUNDED by early walkers, walking at 10 months kind of thing, which was tough) but looking back she just took her time. She's a cautious gentle soul, which is lovely, and totally makes sense that she wouldn't throw herself around like the early walkers. She really loved her walking toys, something like this, and used that to get around until she had the confidence to walk. I found mine at a second hand store. Gives them the stability but shows them how nice it is to be able to get around. No idea if it actually helps them or not, but my kid loved it.

how long is the drive?

When we travelled with our 10 month old, we found the following helped:

A hanging toy on the seat. This is the one we bought

A remote/phone toy. Our son always loves going right for our phones or the remote control so we bought this

I dont think movies are a good idea, as they'll get bored relatively quickly because they can't really make sense of what is happening.

If your 11 mo can sleep in the car seat, plan on long stretches during naptime or night. Its best to travel while they sleep for everyone.

Our longest drive was 6 hours, and we did a 2 hour drive at naptime, stop to feed, 1-2 hours awake, stop to feed/roam around outside (for like an hour, gotta give him energy burning time), nap time again for the last 2 hours or so.

These are all things that not only I love but a lot of people in my bumper month group really liked as well, and that I didn't think to ask for in my registry and wish I did:

VAVA nightlight
USB charged, this touch operated nightlight was my best friend in the hospital and at home for late night feeding

Love to Dream swaddle
Amazing swaddle that's super easy to use and lets baby self soothe with their hands

Merlins magic sleepsuit
When baby outgrows swaddling (which happens fast!) this helps muffle the startle reflex to keep baby asleep.

hushh portable sound machine
Basically the only way I get any sleep

beaming buggy
Plays music, lights up and has white noise. Somehow is total magic.

Oball toys
Because there's always someone who wants to just buy toys and these are great for small hands

Also any baby books are great mine loves good night moon and she also loves her small blanket that came with it! You could also do some bath toys too! And clothes is always great at that age!

u/knitpixie · 3 pointsr/beyondthebump

We got this Vtech walker at Christmas and LO loves it. The toy panel comes off and we have it laying on the floor for now. It sings songs, lights up, has tons of different moving parts... definitely a good buy!

u/shashaf · 2 pointsr/beyondthebump

Mine liked those bead on a wire toys(like https://smile.amazon.com/First-Learning-Bead-Activity-Center/dp/B00MOPKP36/), stacking cups (which he still likes now at almost 2), and these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B004G8QSYO/

Once our daughter was big enough we got her an activity table that went around a seat, it converts to a high chair/booster that grows with kiddo which saved us buying a high chair.

Activity center: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LTI0ARO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_vt5MDbQPJ4TAX

Once she was a bit bigger we used her bouncer and kept her in our line of sight.

Bouncer: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016XS2O7O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Mu5MDbGS0KDD7

Now that she’s walking we use baby gates and a play yard fence to keep her in a solidly baby proofed area and she still loves her bouncer at 17 months old

Play yard fence: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006NTY1HU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_vv5MDb89CNM0C

Edit: we also had a larger swing in the living room and a smaller portable swing I’d move around when I’d need to go to a different room to clean or something.

My five year old got these things for his first birthday, and we pulled them out again for #2’s first birthday and he loves them just as much. :)

My daughter is not the best in the carseat even now at 15 months. She needs a lot of distraction/stimulation to keep from fussing. But at that age she did do much better after we were gifted with a toy that played music that strapped on to her carseat handle (we also had the Mesa). This was the one we had but there are a ton of different options on Amazon.

u/LdyGwynDaTrrbl · 2 pointsr/clothdiaps

It's a skip hop toy. Skip Hop Farmstand Avocado Stroller Toy https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DG4DVSN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_EYjPDb5N8XJBH

Target has it too.

Fisher Price makes a similar toy that comes in a set. Fisher-Price Taco Tuesday Gift Set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DK6QJMM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_E0jPDbD7B1E75

5 days without indecent! Sat him down by my feet on a towel in the bathroom while I brushed my teeth not realizing he could reach his plastic baby bathtub; brought it down on his head.

His papa put a mesh guard rail on the side of the bed for when we hang out there. He grabs it and tries to climb over. Slows him down though!

Then his grandparents got him this Vtech baby walker (http://www.amazon.com/VTech-80-077000-Sit-to-Stand-Learning-Walker/dp/B000NZQ010/ref=pd_sim_sbs_75_2?ie=UTF8&dpID=51IDXlTonTL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL320_SR282%2C320_&refRID=0Y7RGXKXWD4C6JEZ8VZX); great, one more thing to worry about him face planting on or pulling down on his head!

u/crimsondhampiel · 2 pointsr/beyondthebump

My 9 month Lil girl looooves this. VTech - Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NZQ010/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_tLW0tb0BBR0779EE. She can even walk with it, although it still takes supervision since we have hardwood floors..

u/Divergent99 · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I could be your buddy with that scale! You see with that amazing scale I imagine you will end up losing some major weight. (not that you need to)... And how will we haul off that weight? With my pink dump truck!. :)

u/shoobilydoobily · 1 pointr/beyondthebump

I'm not sure if this toy would be age appropriate but I thought it was cool. The manufacturer's recommended age is up to 1 year, Amazon recommends it up to 2 years. We got one for our almost 4 month old and she loves it. It attaches just fine to an infant seat but I'm not sure about a convertible.

My baby is 15 weeks old. Here are a few things we really like right now.

She's still a little young for books, but that's coming up soon and you can't really have enough of them.

Clothes are not always practical as they grow at different rates. My lo just moved into 6-9 month sleepers at 3 months old. Never enough wipes, ask for return receipts with diapers just in case.

A little early for baby proofing stuff yet, but baby gates and such will be helpful soon if you don't have them yet.

u/unsubtlety · 1 pointr/beyondthebump

Depends on their age! With my young baby (<3 months) I have had luck with really loud white noise through the car speakers (though he is nearly deaf do you may not need to do it as loud!). Now that he’s older he also enjoys his Baby Einstein Sea Soother latched to the headrest in front of him, as well as a dangly toy I’ve wrapped around his car seat handle (I’m not sure if most car seats have a handle like mine, mine is a combo car seat stroller) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XPYKQFF?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I’ve heard the soother is a favorite of older babies too

Mine just turned one. He has one of these that he loves. It's actually broken because he's loved it to death.

Pretty much anything with music and flashing lights is guaranteed to be a hit, but get a gift receipt because kids can be picky. My MIL got my son a Chinese-knockoff car that flashes and plays music, but it makes my son cry and we can't figure out why and we got him a floor mirror because he loves my MIL's full length mirror. Both were duds.

Have you seen Baby links?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Manhattan-Toy-Links-To-Go/dp/B00DZETW52/ref=sr_1_2?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1453932984&sr=1-2&keywords=Baby+links

You can get others with different textures and shapes too. Good for fine motor as well as brute strength and chewing on.

Thank you for the contest Jason :)

I know this is a super late reply, but we got one of these and my son loves it. We strap his favorite toys on it too.

Also! If you're looking for something to keep them relatively calm in the car, my guy adores this Beaming Buggie. We go through batteries like hot cakes though!

u/Cakepeddler · 1 pointr/breakingmom

Maybe it's time to add some things to her diet? Sounds like she's just using you as a pacifier or for comfort. Even if she is feeding at night it's probably good at this point to switch it up for her. I'd wean her off night feedings and force her to feed more during the day. She's at the point where she could eat baby foods at 16 months. If you think it's Autism and she's habitually chewing she might need chew toys.

My son has Autism here are some of his favorite chewys:
