The newborn socks having non slip soles is hilarious. I'm leary to use the crib shoes outside, I would think the rough cement side walk would scratch them up in a day!

While I was browsing around for shoes I did come across these grip socks with straps, perhaps try those out.

I also came across these flyknit shoes, I'm going to order them (free returns anyway if it doesn't work out). They look comfy, seems stretchy so perfect for fat feet and have a very flexible sole :-P

I am a HUGE fan of Robeez for early walkers. They worked great for my son! There's a soft sole sandal version for warmer weather, too. We didn't use the sandal style because it was fall/winter when my son started walking, but if they're as good as the full shoe then you'll love them.

As far as sizing - they're pretty true. I bought my son the 12-18 month Robeez and he started wearing them around 12 months. He's 17 months now and they still fit. He's just now grown out of 5T Converse and I put him in 6T Vans last weekend. So I'd say the 12-18M Robeez are the equivalent of a 5T and a 6T (as they tend to be a bit forgiving with the elastics and typically span a few sizes).

Are you an online shopper?

I am, and I’m really excited about the Squatchi that I ordered a few months ago.

No more guessing on shoe sizes. Ever. It’s great.

My daughter is outgrowing her first pair of shoes so I’ll be using it again very soon.

As for shoe recommendations, we went with these. Our pediatrician recommended soft soled shoes for new walkers. These were inexpensive and the quality is good. They’re pretty wide too.

My son has these: https://www.amazon.com/Zutano-Newborn-Unisex-Fleece-Bootie/dp/B01EU3RSLQ/ref=sr_1_51?ie=UTF8&qid=1479152940&sr=8-51-spons&keywords=baby%2Bbooties&smid=A19NVE4G6SOT2C&th=1&psc=1

I love them, but they run small. He's 3 months old in 6 month booties and they're snug. I'm still looking for some other ones to buy so I'll be following this thread.

How about boots for the baby? I've been cramming his little fat feet into the 0-6 month booties but the next size I have is 12-18, I somehow missed the 6-12!

Edit: the color I linked isn't prime eligible oops! I'll pick a different color. How about grey.

These ones! Tall foot box, and the boot opens huge for getting fat squishy feet in.

We bought something like this - although I think a different brand - and they worked great to stay on during crawling.

my life savers!!!!

These are socks but have a sole so they are comfortable and serious non-slip

I use to buy them at target but I don't know if they have them anymore as that was 7 years ago.

I let my kids wear those for the warmer months: https://www.amazon.com/Mejale-Leather-Moccasins-Anti-skid-Prewalker/dp/B014CSCTHC/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1536056873&sr=8-9&keywords=toddler+shoes+leather&dpID=51LeN7%252BZDrL&preST=_SY395_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

They are cheap to buy and we actually make them ourselves. My wife even created a model for the summer that lets in more air. We usually have a pair for indoor and outdoor use and sometimes one extra for indoor sports. My 4 year old daughter now even rides her walking bike in these shoes without destroying them by braking hard with her toes (like she would with thicker soled shoes). She now brakes in her leather moccasins like she does barefoot: by taking a few very rapid steps. I just love to watch these biomechanical adaptations that happen when strolling/waling/running barefoot or in very minimalistic shoes compared to thicker rubber soled shoes. Also has anyone noticed the what happens when you make your kids wear regular (high heeled) sneakers? They tend to stumble over their own feet and fall down more often than not. My wife and I use the term "clumsy shoes" when we see some kids running on the playground...
Also if you need to buy more sturdy shoes for fall/winter look for cheap models with thin and bendable rubber soles/ wide shoebox in supermarkets. You can easily remove the insole and have a very minimal shoe for a minimal amount of money. Also for winter shoes try flea markets or buy used children shoes. Winter boots are always a bit more of a compromise between minimalism and cold protection. Shoes marketed as minimal still have a rather small market segment and are hard to find used and are maybe a bit harder to resell. As kids only were them for one season or so its best to buy used/ or cheap in my opinion.

I just bought these for outside! At night I pull her socks all the way up.

u/nightmarecake · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

i think the shoes specifically were a random seller on amazon, not from patpat like the other stuff. these

We used these booties until my son was truly walking and needing something for outdoors: https://www.amazon.com/Luvable-Friends-Fleece-Booties-Bottom/dp/B00X21MRHI/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=velcro+booties&qid=1568389924&sr=8-1

Then we switched to a pair of tennis shoes from Target- Surpize by striderite. They are velco, the tongue opens up wide enough to get his foot in, and they have flexible soles.

Any toy that's sorting, stacking, and able to carry and move from place to place (a basket and Easter eggs at the moment). Leapfrog makes a tea set that she loves (but you'll be singing the songs for days). Sidewalk chalk and the box it came in. 360 sippy cup. Sturdy Velcro shoes. Extra utensils and cute bibs to take to restaurants.

I do! So we just went through some shit where all these water shoes we tried either ran big, like absolutely gigantic, or the ones that fit had weird seams on the inside that rubbed my kids foot raw and bleeding. We ended up getting THESE Carter's Floatie water shoes.

They fit true to size, come in cute patterns, are fairly priced, have no razor sharp seams, have a real sole on them so your kid can walk over sand and rocks and other various sea shit without killing their feet, and they pull on really easily. They're also just nice for playing around in. My kid likes to go to this fountain in our neighborhood park and boop around so I can just throw her in these and not worry about her getting her sneakers soaked. They dry out quick because they're made out of this kinda scuba suit material.

These in all different sizes is what we used until he was ready for real shoes:

To all the sock haters - I hate them too. My mom got us a pair of Zutanos and they are AWESOME. They look so ridiculous but they kept my January baby's feet warm and didn't fall off. He's 3.5 months now and just starting to grow out of them so I ordered more.
