Just use at your own risk I guess. I would look it up online as I did. The strange thing is it says they can have a reaction (ranging from sever to even fatal) on the first use or after several uses.

This is what I bought in place of that though:

And this was also recommended:

A friend told me to talk to the pediatrician and save the orajel because once they are a bit older I may be able to put it on my nipple in case of soreness. Just make sure to consult your doctor first! Good luck!

I'm so sorry they werent more sensitive. I was warned that a lot of mama's feel like they ruined their babies the first few days after the revision. Baby is a little sore, and it takes a lot of tongue muscle to breastfeed. But also, baby has been used to using his tongue one way, and now it feels different. It works a little differently, and baby has to relearn how to use his tongue, which can be frustrating. Lots of patience, and some pain relief for the first few days.

You can use Tylenol, but be careful on dosage. It is done by weight. Here is a chart page that tells you the correct dose for your child's weight range. I would try to get by without it as long as I could though, because Tylenol is rough on their little livers/kidneys. You don't just want to pump them full of it unnecessarily.

I also used Arnica 200c pellets (Arnica is good for pain and tissue trauma...swelling/inflammation/bruising), the Hylands Teething Gel as my lubricant for the stretches, and Hylands Calming Tablets for when she just wouldnt stop crying. It helped a ton.

We got my daughter's severe tongue and lip ties revised a week ago (at 6 weeks), and the first 5 days were rough. And I'm an exclusive pumping / bottle feeding mom. She struggled to take the bottle at first too, and I can only imagine how much more frustrating it can be to try to nurse after it. My LC said her clients tend to complain that days 4-7 are the worst, and then it gets better. We are at the tail end of the fussy period, I think.

Hang in there mama. In the long run, you'll be glad you did this, even if it's scary and you regret it at the moment. You can always hand express some and syringe feed while having your baby suck in your finger for a few feedings. That gives you both a break from the stress, and also helps retrain his brain about the right way to move his tongue while feeding.

Good luck! And congrats on your sweet little one! The first couple weeks are SO DAMN HARD already. But by 6 weeks you settle into a groove and it's just routine. You can do this. :)

Edit: I'm not sure if it helped or not since she had it on immediately after the revision, but I also got my LO an amber teething necklace to help with the pain and inflammation. I figured if it helps with the pain while teething, it should also help with this. It couldnt hurt anyways. I got this one because it comes with a certificate of authenticity (there are a lot of fakes out there) and had good reviews. But i didnt pay attention to the size and it's a little big for her neck. You would probably want one a tiny bit smaller.
