Anyway, when I was a cable installer I had three bags. My daily bag just a regular backpack, usually something funny. Right now I have a Stormtrooper Backpack I got at a fan expo. It has a console cable, a laptop, and my lunch.

Then I had a hand tools bag - mine had some slight customizations but it was fairly close to this Klein 28-Piece Electrician Tool Kit, which I only brought in if I needed hand tools. The main customization was to add crimping tools and specialty cutting tools for coaxing and CAT6. I used a Husky 10-inch Electrician Bag because it made it easy to organize.

Finally, I had the Milwaukee M18 Cordless 6-Tool Combo Kit if I needed something more heavy duty. There's a ton of extra space so I would store patch cables in the side pouches inside of the power tool bag.

The rest was in my truck which had something like 100-200 tools and a huge array of patch cables, connectors, test kits, etc.

I enjoy Titanfall 2, it'd be weird for me to wear a backpack with the cover of the game on it (think child's backpack) but it's okay if it's a themed backpack that just looks like something from the game, like this one

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GVJU0OY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_gHYCyb0MJB4CN

u/tenmilez · 23 pointsr/Firearms

I had a SOC bug out bag flying into ATL and they pulled it from the regular luggage (without any indication, naturally) and put it in the oversized baggage area. So I sat through everyone else's shit getting picked up and the carousel stopped so I had to go hunt down my missing luggage. Their explanation was that because it was camouflage it might have a firearm in it so they pulled it. Fucking retarded on so many levels.

u/danltn · 8 pointsr/AskUK

Imo.... If you're buying hand luggage, don't buy a suitcase. Buy a hand luggage rucksack. Way fewer problems (they've never checked the size for me), and you can force it to be a smaller shape. Carrying it on your back is usually easier too.

It seems to be much cheaper ($54.14+tax&shipping vs $84.99 no tax or shipping) on amazon.

get a big (not massive just big enough for whatever you'll need... and u will probably need less than u think) backpack and something like this http://img.diytrade.com/cdimg/415696/4214250/0/1223525564/Non_Woven_Draw_String_Bag.jpg

during the day theres not much u need to take and that smaller bag will carry it, and folds up to 0 space. plus is handy for taking showers etc to bring ur stuff to shower rooms in.

carrying a duffel bag will get annoying when u have to walk ages to train station etc when u could just have one bag on ur back.

i had this back pack http://www.amazon.com/Cabin-Max-Backpack-Approved-massive/dp/B002Q5APX4 with space in it still and went around europe via trains, staying in hostels for just over 17 days. it was more than enough room. on first trip (for about a week) i crammed so much stuff in it but didnt need hardly any of it.

u/loddist · 5 pointsr/onebag

Not sure how durable, but the brand seems alright. Good reviews online too. 35L, could fit in urban situations with a pop of colour. Semi suitcase opening. 50 USD.

Solo Everyday Max Hybrid: https://www.amazon.com/Solo-Everyday-Max-Hybrid-Backpack/dp/B01AC3ZXJW

Alternatively, you can go with the tried and true Osprey Porter 30L. 90 USD.

Speaking as an owner of one of Everlane's Modern Snap backpacks, I can say that it definitely never feels like it's ever too bulky, and though I may not be 5 feet tall, I don't think that would be an issue regardless. On the contrary, it's one of the least bulky and most stylish backpacks I've ever dealt with.

If you ever have an issue with your backpack, Everlane is quick to take care of it. I know this might not exactly convince you about the bifl quality of the backpack, but when I first got my backpack, there was a flaw in the stitching that caused one of the snaps to partially come off. However, emailed Everlane and they promptly gave me a label to send the backpack back and sent me a new one. They definitely stand behind their product. I can't quite put my finger on it, but just by feeling and looking at it, the backpack just seems to be undoubtedly high-quality.

A friend of mine, who was the one that referred me to the backpack, has owned his (the original snap backpack) for I believe like three years and it has nothing wrong with it whatsoever save for the faded colors which are inevitable when you've abused it every day like he has.

So I would definitely recommend this backpack and can see myself using it for years. And if you're still hesitant about the size, they also have a Mini Modern Zip Backpack which claims to be able to fit a 13" Macbook. I don't have experience with that however, and like I said, the Modern Snap has never felt bulky, but exactly the opposite. Hope I've helped! Feel free to use this referral link if you'd like! :)

Edit: Also, I've heard the Fjallraven Kanken recommended a lot. I've seen somebody with it and it looks fairly small but I can't tell you how it would hold up. Like the look of the Modern Snap better personally too.

Is owl a brand? You have it capitalized like it is. Or do you mean just general school supplies with pictures of owls on them?

I have no idea where to go if it's a brand, but Urban Outfitters downtown usually has some random owl-patterned things. Indigo was also good for those kind of things, but I think they're closed now, so maybe Chapters?

And for binders you can always get the ones with a translucent pocket over the cover that you can slip a sheet of paper into, and customize it with whatever pictures you want. That's what I did all through high school - much cheaper than buying new binders every year.

I also found this if you're not adverse to online shopping.

u/LucidOneironaut · 3 pointsr/rva

They might be spoken for, but I'll keep you in mind if Keep Virginia Cozy doesn't want them. Anyone who wants to build one can do so with the following materials:

Backpack Straps

Picture hangers

While you're at Lowes you can pick up nuts/bolts, or you can use pop rivets (with backing washers to prevent the plastic from tearing) like I did. We got our trash cans at Walmart so we could size them to our shoulders/back.

u/MichaelWithAOnTheEnd · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I want to replace my colorful High Sierra backpack with something slightly more "adult."

I am considering a plain black JanSport like this that I would customize by adding a bow and monogram, kind of like this.

The look I am going for is casual (hence the backpack), classic (hence the classic Jansport silhouette), and girly (details like bow and monogram) without compromising functionality.

What do you think, people of FFA? I would love some ideas on where to get it monogrammed, where to find the right kind of bow/how to attach, and whether black is an appropriate choice or if I should go with a "neutral" print like polka dots or something. Thank you in advance!

Edit: another idea is this which may be a better choice for being "adult" because it's canvas.

Another edit: here is what I mean by a "neutral" print

Last (?) edit: I'm not sure I know what I want with this whole backpack thing after all. I love the ease and practicality of having a backpack rather than another type of bag, and since I am in academia, I can totally get away with backpack use, possibly forever. But I just haven't thought much about personal style since like, high school/college, and am kind of unclear on what sort of image I want to project. I guess I just gravitate toward practical things but also want them to be attractive in some way, and don't want to just randomly accumulate possessions based on convenience anymore- I would like to be more mindful about purchasing items in the future that contribute toward some type of cohesive image. Help is very, very welcome from literally any one of you who wants to assist me with getting a handle on the basics. I have already read almost all of the sidebar resources and absorbed lots of new info that way, but I think I might need more help than I can get from reading stuff.

u/arhythm · 3 pointsr/onebag

For those who are interested in this bag, it's currently $55 on Amazon right now. Solo Everyday Max Backpack (ACV732-4) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AC3ZXJW/

I bought one myself and am undecided on keeping it as a first bag or getting an osprey Porter 30. I like the large pocket but would like some built in organization in a secondary pocket for small items like any camera, chargers, etc. There's the 2 side pockets that could maybe fit a water bottle if the bag isn't packed full and a pocket on front that could hold a wallet or phone, my Nexus 6P barely fit.

The shoe compartment on the bottom also takes a ton of room in the main section of the bag. Though I'd guess that's the same for any bag that has that.

For the size of it I also expected more space. There are some interior pockets in the main section but again, with clothes in the main section you won't be able to fit much.

u/Varixai · 3 pointsr/titanfall

Hey, for you and /u/Sogarde - Here's a post I wrote when someone asked what shirts were officially licensed. It's a good roundup of just clothing related merchandise at least:

-
That's an good question, it seems to vary. Here are some sites that I've found and their visible licensing situations:

-

  • Merchoid - Their About Us page says they only sell licensed products, and there's an officially licensed stamp on each product page. They even have several news articles about their officially licensed Titanfall 2 line.

    -
  • Yellow Bulldog says they have Titanfall 2's entire swag lineup of officially licensed gear, including some clothing. (and are advertised around the web like this)

    -
  • SportsDirect's T-Shirt is labeled official, yet no guarantees are offered on the product page or in general by the website.

    -
  • Sites like Redbubble and Teepublic are obviously completely unlicensed; sites like this are simply storefronts for independent "artists" to sell their artworks. That can be anything from original artwork or just ripped/traced game assets. (it also explicitly says on these sites that these are "titanfall inspired" products created by fans)

    -
  • Hot Topic's line makes no licensing claims at all and their About Us page says they sell both licensed and un-licensed merchandise.

    -
  • There are some completely individual products that are said to be officially licensed as well, like this backpack.

> if you always take pictures like these, could we see some older pictures?

Would love to share, but I don't think I have them any more. I did take a similar picture before backpacking in Europe, driving the American Southwest, and traveling through Israel, but I'd just text them to my Mom. They looked pretty much the same though, I have my packing list pretty set.

> also, you reall wont need anything warmer? not one long sleeve shirt ir even a windbraker?

I wore a hoodie on the plane. Still it was summer in Bangkok and Tokyo, so I was pretty good without a sweater, lol. The only time I was cold was at the summit of Mt. Fuji http://imgur.com/a/T9uvG, though I bought some long underwear on the ground that really helped.

> what's your bag?

This. I was not satisfied with it, it hung really weird on my shoulders, 4/10 would not use again.

> what do you read on your kindle?

Siddhartha in Japan, The English Patient in Thailand. Loved both. Didn't have all that much time for reading though, I mostly did it on planes.

> no camera?

Used my phone camera. Tons of pictures here.

This is what I take out with me:

Kelty Redwing 50

Eureka! Midori 2 (I don't own this, I borrow my father's, I own a larger Eureka! Tetragon)

Kelty Tuck sleeping bag

Therm-a-Rest Trail Lite sleeping pad

Vasque Breeze 2.0 GTX boots (they have put out a new version in the past year or so labeled the 3.0, I believe)

Let me know if you have any questions about any of the gear, or general questions. Happy Camping my friend!

I'm a huge fan of the Ogio backpack. I have two. One I've had for almost two years (Like 1 year and 10 months), http://www.amazon.com/Renegade-Laptop-Tablet-Backpack-Black/dp/B0076D099Q/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1377711292&sr=8-3&keywords=ogio+laptop and it's still going strong. I use it for work, and for a large laptop i need to use for work. I have had another one for 7 years: http://www.amazon.com/OGIO-711105-Black-Metro-Streetpacks-Black/dp/B000NDQNNW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377711276&sr=8-1&keywords=ogio+metro and it still works great.

Of course, none of these work for a 5yo, they are way way too big. Might I suggest one of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003HS5JMQ/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Got one for my 4 yo, and it works great for preschool, it's well made BUT, it might not be big enough for normal school. You have to fold a standard piece of paper.

My wife has a Jansport backpack she's used for like 20 years, and it's still being used. But I can't speak from personal experience. That might be the way to go as well.

u/DioTheory · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

This backpack would make my life so much easier!! It's on my Practical list.

I currently have a messenger style backpack, but it only fits about 2 textbook-sized books at a time, and it's falling apart. I've had it for 3 years now. Also, my primary transportation to school will be a motorcycle, so the messenger bag really won't work at all for that.

I'm going to school at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and I'm majoring in Physics! I'm absolutely thrilled to be able to go here. Their science programs are all fantastic and I'm SO LUCKY! I have 2 more years left, so I should graduate right as my husband's military contract runs out.

Wish me luck! And thank you so much for the contest! <3

u/GladioliRose · 2 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

I'm a daily messenger bag carrier but I used to have several backpacks. There are few i am considering to purchase as well. I'll list them below.

If you want something that will last you for the rest of your life, go tactical. These are great for bug-out bags as well. Some of them will be compiable with Hiker cosplay. Amazon

If tactical isn't your thing and you prefer something urban. Need a cool looking pack that lasts for a long time too? I got you; I have few suggestions. Herschel Supply , Arctic Fox , ASERF , Rhine , Blue Lounge , CaseLogic , and Convey.

If you want to go down on the messenger bag route like I did, then here I go ~! Timbuk , Tumi , MNMUR. I personally am a huge fan of Timbuk's messenger bags.

u/bulius · 2 pointsr/ManyBaggers

They have backpack straps on Amazon that you can attach to Pelicans.

u/EmpressHotdog · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

Oh I have a Jansport big student classic daypack! It's the only thing that will fit everything I need. I have a navy one, but I would get this one if I could, because it's my favorite color. I like solid colors and coral, so this would be my top pick. Also, maybe this is the backpack you're going to get?

I have used this bag through middle school to college. It is the perfect size for holding my Macbook, notebooks, textbooks, etc. When you need it to be compact, draw in the side straps and you have a small portable backpack. However, if you release the side straps, the bag is perfect for a weekend trip, camping, airplanes, hiking etc. I have even used it for snowboarding. Here is PX link. If you know anyone military you can get it through them without tax.

If you wanted something bigger with aluminum back support, I also have the bug out size. If you know you will be carrying heavy weight for long periods of time, this bag is the most comfortable and supportive. It also counts as a carry on in airports, so that is a plus.

Mystery Ranch Hover Pack 50L. $299, 420D nylon, 4.8 lbs.

vs

Kelty Redwing 50L, $129, 420D nylon, 3 lbs 11 oz.

Both have wraparound zippers that let you open up the whole compartment (a feature I like), but the Kelty has side pockets with pass-through storage for long items behind them (trekking poles, etc).

Having trouble seeing the value in the Mystery Ranch stuff to justify the price difference, pound for pound.

Jansport. Seriously. I tried buying cheap backpacks for years, and I finally bit the bullet and bought jansport when my friend told me he'd had his since 7th grade (as we were graduating high school). I'm now starting my first year of grad school, and I've had mine since I started college (so 4 years now), and it still looks new. My friend's backpack is also going strong. No rips, it only looks dirty because of how long he's used it. Best part? Costs $30. If you're worried about a laptop compartment, just buy a laptop sleeve and stick it in there. Oh, and it has a lifetime warranty.

I was going to recommend an Ogio backpack too. A few of the office guys just got these Metro backpacks to carry their laptop, iPads, and other nesseceties. I opted for the messenger bag style of the same set up. These Ogio bags are BAMFs

u/suzie10000 · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I second the two straps comment. Get one of these! My campus is small too and there are days when I have to pack so much in it.

But in all seriousness, this is relatively inexpensive and has served me very well. The zippers are high quality. NB: the straps feel odd at first but then fit much better once you wear it a little.

u/r_a_g_s · 1 pointr/motorcycles

We got a bunch of Ogio Metro backpacks from a CycleGear a few years ago; they were blowing them out for $20 or so. I'm the only one in the family who rides, but we figured they were just pretty good backpacks for the price, so we got 3-4-5 (can't remember) for the kids to use for school.

It's pretty good. It's held up to a lot of abuse. And I jerry-rigged a chest mount for my GoPro by drilling slots in the black plastic base it came on, and running the backpack's chest straps through the slots. (Why yes, I am a cheap so-and-so.)

I would try these straps out especially since they’re only $12 or so. Then just secure them to the backboard. I personally would just use some eyelets to run the strings through. The rest should be pretty easy. Hope this helps

u/BluShine · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I don't carry a bag every day. But for hiking and travelling, I think a sling bag is perfect. It can easily fit a water bottle, camera, sunscreen, snacks, a raincoat, etc. It's comfortable to wear on long walks, and it's great to be able to unclip the strap and switch shoulders.

I have a cheap-ass "Tinyat" bag that doesn't seem to be available anymore, but is very similar to this one, and it's held up astonishingly well for a few years, despite taking it on tough mountain hikes and regularly stuffing in a DSLR that just barely fits the largest pocket. I've thought about upgrading to a nicer version, but most of the name brand sling bags are either significantly bigger or lack a shoulder-swappable strap.

These guys seem to be pretty popular among college students.

Honestly, I used a higschool backpack like this: https://www.amazon.com/Jansport-Big-Student-Backpack-Black/dp/B000E3D2VM/ref=pd_bxgy_468_img_2/144-1159476-3947922?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B000E3D2VM&pd_rd_r=fe3b2925-308e-11e9-9e3f-3bc4e26de95d&pd_rd_w=UUmnn&pd_rd_wg=9ljUB&pf_rd_p=6725dbd6-9917-451d-beba-16af7874e407&pf_rd_r=2RANH3RQR4V95Q9JNRS9&psc=1&refRID=2RANH3RQR4V95Q9JNRS9

for 7 years until i was gifted a higher quality pack. But this did fine for all those years and ALWAYS fit as a carry on.

Just remember not to bring too much, you can do laundry there, and it's cheap. Have fun!

Initially, I wanted to get an Aer Fit Pack 2, but I don't really have the cash to spend that much on a backpack at the moment. What attracted me to it was that it looked nice and had compartments that I was looking for; one to place my laptop and notebooks, another to place my clothes, and a third for my shoes.

After spending several hours on Amazon searching for a cheaper alternative, I ended up ordering a Solo Elite Backpack which should (hopefully) arrive some time tomorow. I'll let you know what I think of it once it arrives, but in the meantime, maybe this short video will help you determine if it's something you'd want to consider.

**

Other alternatives I was considering**

|Backpack|Price|Reason I didn't go for it|
|:---:|:---:|:---|
|Crosslandy College Backpack|$35.99|Didn't like how it looked. No exterior pocket for water bottle.|
|Solo Everyday Max Hybrid|$46.68|Yellow straps are ugly.|
|Targus Work & Play|$59.81|Yellow accents. Would have gone with this instead otherwise.|
|Targus Work & Play (Black & Gray)|$79.99|Costs more than the one with the yellow accents. At this price, I like the look of the Solo Elite more.|
|Solo Elite (Burgundy)|$60.00 (plus tax and shipping)|Prefer black and wanted to get it sooner rather than later.|

Looks like you can buy it from Amazon.

This backpack will easily fit both. In fact, it's able to expand enough that you could probably fit a few pairs of clothes in there too (but prolly not recommended because when this backpack is stuffed to the brim it might actually end up too big for a carry on).

https://www.amazon.com/Sandpiper-of-California-Bugout-Backpack/dp/B007VMOPRY

This thing was the "private special" in basic training because everyone bought one, haha. I had mine for 6 or 7 years before it gave out (and these were hard years out in the field and overseas).

It's a tad bit tactical looking, and you'll see it's got extra things like a waist strap, chest strap, etc, but all of those can be folded and hidden in the bag (in fact, even the shoulder straps can fold into the bag so you can carry it like a briefcase instead).

I forgot to mention that I will be buying one of this carry-on backpack beforehand - which I'd assumed to be big enough. What's your opinion on Silverstone raven's build quality?

u/xreecey · 1 pointr/backpacking

I brought this one to travel with KLM airline which is quite strict on the size compared to other airlines

One of my older ones did, but that one gave up so quickly. The one I had in high school didn't, but still lasted as long as it did.

Don't get one of these, they're smaller and don't last as long.
DO get one of these. Bigger, sturdier, and designed to carry heavier loads.

There are a lot of types of backpacks. Just pick one that you think will serve you long and well. :P

u/dizzyvonblue · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

First off you have my sympathies, for your loss. And some internet hugs! I've never lost anyone so I can't say I understand, but I know it hurts and im sorry.

I included a bunch of things to represent what I think people might have on their wishlists. If I win Sort My Priorities and surprise me!

Japanese Candy kit I'm sure snacks are a big hit on peoples WLs. I want one of these specifically for my son.

Backpack/rucksack Classes are starting back up for many including me so these might be in high demand soon.

New Shoes Again classes are starting soon, if not for parents maybe for their kids. OR maybe people need new shoes to prepare for a climate change. I live in Indiana and weather is insane, so I try to always have boots and flats.

Seeds I have a ton of seeds on my WLs. They are usually cheap, and they make my yard pretty!

Thanks so much for hosting, and good luck everyone. I wish your Debit card super speed on its journey to you!

Of course! It's so adorable, too. It has little Totoros on the lining! <33 Here you go!

While it's not exactly stylish, I use this Jansport backpack at school, and love it. It's got a lifetime warranty, holds a ton of stuff, and is quite comfortable. It doesn't look as square as that picture either, unless you filled the thing with blankets or something, just FYI.

u/TheSkyFlier · 1 pointr/titanfall

Unfortunately there isn’t a whole lot, since it’s an old game, but there is a backpack that seems pretty good. Everyone who got it says it’s good.

My OGIO Metro is the greatest piece of apparel I've ever owned. Loads of space, lots o' pockets, and the thing's durable as cow-hide. Seriously, get it. It's the best backpack ever, don't listen to anyone else.

Seriously, get it. It's on sale as well.

What did u manage to fit it in ? I'd 100% get the RVZ01 if I could fit it into something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cabin-Max-Backpack-Approved-55x40x20/dp/B002Q5APX4/ref=cts_ap_1_mltfb_1647925031

I have one of these

backpack the size of small case (approved to ryan air sizing for 1 piece of luggage in overhead)

I took everything I needed for 2 week hol

you'll do fine with yours just triple check those measurements with airline you're travling with

only prob with hard plastic is if you don't use the space its wasted (cant squash down like fabric)

u/CharcotWeek · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

I have the Kelty Redwing 50 and love it. Pretty affordable for what you get as well and quite durable. Also has a handle so you can use as a duffel if you're so inclined. kelty redwing on amazon

I ordered this jansport backpack for $26 last week, but apparently is $40 now. Anyway they have a lifetime warranty.

If you are determined on company, this might be to late, but Fjallravens Kanken is as buy it for life as it gets, and not awfully expensive. I just checked up on the one my father uses on daily basis, which have been going for 15-20 years by now, and the only sign of use is that the colour has faded.
