I feel like an "outlier" here in that I don't really have an HG anything. I have products that I like in all categories, but I feel like there are tons of options that work for me.

As for the body wash thing, you might consider one of the Aveeno fragrance free body washes. I use this one in the winter when my skin is really dry and itchy and it always works well for me.

Here's what I would suggest:

Razor: either this one if you want to stay frugal or this one if you want to splurge a bit. I'd stay away from the QShave. It's a clone of a razor with a lot of design issues. One being that the head is so large it's hard to get under the nose, etc.; another issue is that it is extremely aggressive even at its lowest setting.

Brush: This synthetic brush. I think it's much better to start with a synthetic than a boar brush. Boar brushes are less comfortable on your face and actually make it more difficult to make lather until they break in. No reason to mess with those variables when you're just trying to get the hang of it. As for this specific synthetic brush, I have one and it is an amazing value for the money. It is one of about a dozen brushes I own, some of which were $200+, and this $12 brush holds its own with them.

Shaving soap: Lots of options here. Barrister & Mann's Latha line performs extremely well and is a great value. Several scents to choose from. Barrister &
Mann's Glissant line is a bit more expensive but has even better performance and more complex scents. Seville is a particularly good starting point with B&M, just an extremely clean, classic, masculine scent. Pre de Provence and Pre de Provence No. 63 are classic french soaps that smell great and perform very well.

Aftershave: Even more options here. You could go with Thayer's witch hazel with aloe, or if you want a traditional high alcohol aftershave, Fine Accoutrements is excellent. There are several scents, all based on popular and/or classic colognes. Or you could splurge and get the world's greatest aftershave product, L'Occitane Cade After Shave Balm.

Blades: Amazon has some good deals on blades in bulk but just sucks for sampler packs, and you want to start with a sampler pack because reasons. So head on over to TryABlade and order two of the "Top 10 Sampler." You can't use your Amazon credit there, but it's going to come to less than $10 including shipping.

So, if you go with the cheapest option in each category, you come out to fifty dollars or so if I'm adding right, which leaves you room to pick out one or more of those splurge options I mentioned.

For bacne:

  1. Change to a salicylic body wash. I recommend Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash.

  2. Use a salicylic acid exfoliant on the back, once or twice daily. I recommend Stridex Med Pads.

  3. Finish with a salicylic moisturizer. I recommend CeraVe Renewing SA Lotion.

You’ll notice the trend here: salicylic acid.

Salicylic acid penetrates the skin, causes a softening and sloughing of the top layer of skin, and helps unclog pores to resolve and prevent acne. This acid is also lipophillic, which means it can even penetrate oily skin and already clogged pores, resulting in a deep cleaning. Salicylic acid can reduce sebum secretion, which is another way it can help reduce acne. Lastly, it's also an anti-inflammatory, which can help calm inflamed acne and promote healing.

As a final note, unrelated to the bacne.. please stop using R+F products. The products are of average quality at best, way over-priced, and even more overrated. Not least of all that MLM schemes should be avoided. If you need help with your skin care, the community info in this subreddit has a really excellent FAQ and wiki, and members are more than happy to answer questions.

    Best of luck.

I've got OCD, and while my picking isn't as compulsive as some people's, it's a bitch. I've also got KP on my arms and thighs, and get incredibly ingrown hairs from shaving (and even when not shaving, but far fewer).

What I do. Scrubby nylon cloth with Aveeno unscented moisturizing body wash. Scrub scrub scrub, especially my upper arms and legs where the KP is.

After the shower, pat dry and apply Gold Bond Rough and Bumpy, which literally took me an entire tub to learn how to apply: hint, it's very thick, and doesn't spread easily, but use less than you think, because otherwise it just pills up and flakes off and is sticky and gross. But use just a little every day and it's magical.

Bonus avoiding picking: wear clothes that make it hard to pick; long tight pants, long sleeve shirts, socks, whatever. I compulsively pick at my toenails, and it's the grossest thing ever, so I wear socks 95% of the time so I can't physically pick at my feet.

Optional- I've stopped shaving, because the ingrown hairs just weren't worth it at all, but using an old fashioned safety razor and a new blade every shave (and only shaving once a week) really helped reduce the ingrowns. I used one side of the blade per leg. But like I said, I still got ingrown hair no matter what I did, so I've got body hair now and very few ingrown hairs comparatively. YMMV

So, brief internet research has revealed that bronhidrosis occurs due to a bacterial imbalance in your skin and that a basic treatment includes more rigorous hygiene rituals such as washing your underarms at least twice a day with an anti-bacterial soap where you lather for at least thirty seconds per washing and wearing anti-odor, anti-microbial socks and other garments.

If this approach does work (and I would think that your diagnosing physician should have given you strategies to combat this and if not, you should ask), then I strongly recommend adding in tea tree products to your hygiene routine, such as this shampoo and this body wash. Tea tree oil is naturally anti-microbial and anti-fungal and very refreshing.

If you get super desperate, you can also wipe down your armpits and groin with Hydrogen Peroxide every day for a week or two, but run that one by a doctor first. H2O2 is great at killing bacteria and it is something I have used in the past to balance my skin biome, but I also don’t have bromhidrosis.

You are also going to want to add laundry boosters (like borax or oxyclean) to your regular wash cycles because bacteria doesn’t always all die or get otherwise washed out every wash. A booster like Borax or Oxyclean inhibits enzymes, fungi, mold, and bacteria from causing your clothes to stink. You can use it every cycle along with your regular detergent, but you should also pre-soak your really stinky clothes for half an hour in warm water (half a cup per normal sized load should work, do NOT over stuff your washer).

As for masking your odor with a fragrance, don’t until you figure your skin stuff out. And than means eliminating anything you are currently using that might exacerbate bacterial imbalance. Swap out any moisturizers you are using for ones that are gentle and dermatologist approved (like Cetaphil products). A good dermatologist should be able to walk you through all of this stuff, though. So I’d say reach out to a doctor before following internet advice.

My mom had some and she used them sometimes on my dad and grandma, but I don't know for how many consecutive days and I dont know what the guidance is for them. She eventually did get them into the shower.

As woo woo as this may sound, Watermelon frost. I live in Southeast Asia and for my money this has been the cheapest, most effective way I've found to relieve mouth ulcers. I'm not sure where you live but check your local Chinese pharmacy or China Town.

Bonjela also seems to work for me.

u/eff_you_fungus · 6 pointsr/NailFungus

My big toenail got totally ruined by fungus because I left it untreated for 2+ years. Tbh I didn't know what it was and thought it'd go away on its own.

A year ago, during my trip to Bali, I was in the water so much that half of my toenail actually fell off! This is when I finally started doing research and treating it. I went through a 9 month phase where I slacked off because I was traveling a lot, which is why you see it get much worse. But about 3 months ago I decided I've had enough and took this to the next level. I've been extremely proactive in my routine and am finally seeing results!!! It's a lot of work but it's really encouraging to see improvements.

Here's how I'm doing it:

  • Keep it filed down using this electric nail drill (be really careful not to get carried away & use the slowest setting. stop if you feel ANY pain)
  • Keep it clean & trimmed I make sure the sides of my nail/cuticle are free of debri and keep my nails short using these tools
  • Make sure to disinfect all tools & surfaces using alcohol or hand sanitizer & soap
  • Brush your toe 2-3 times a day with a soft tip toothbrush and tea tree oil body wash (especially in morning and before going to bed)
  • Apply Tea tree oil & Coconut oil after brushing
    • Why: Several studies have shown that tea tree oil has antifungal properties. (source) Coconut oil also has antifungal properties and also smoothes out your skin & nail, which is key cuz tea tree oil makes it really dry and rough
    • How: You can do it by hand, but to make it easier I bought this mini refillable perfume spray bottle, filled it up with tea tree oil & coconut oil 50/50. So all I gotta do is spray it on my toe after I brush and dry
  • Apply Vicks vaporub I apply this along with the tea tree oil & coconut oil once a day or so
  • Apply Urea Cream at night in addition to the tea tree oil & coconut oil
    • Numerous studies have shown combination therapy of urea and an antifungal agent to be an effective treatment for onychomycosis. Urea functions to soften the nail plate, which can enhance the passage of antifungal medications to the underlying nail bed.
  • Footsoaks I've done footsoaks 2-3 times a week for 30 min each. Recently I've been combining 2 part warm water, 1 part vinegar (distilled white or ACV), and like 5 tbsp baking soda. Sometimes I only do baking soda. Sometimes I add a few drops of tea tree oil. Sometimes I soak just with bleach & water. But if you do the bleach & water, make sure you use regular bleach (not the splashless kind). Anyways as you can tell, I kinda mix it up when it comes to footsoaks
    • In the lab, plain old sodium bicarbonate limited growth of the most common types of fungi that cause skin and nail infections. (source)
    • Vinegar can protect against bacteria, fungi, and other harmful microbes, so putting it into a foot soak could have potential benefits for the feet. source
  • Antifungal foot powder I use this foot powder anytime I wear shoes to keep it as dry as possible
  • Try to stay bare feet as much as possible
  • Put toe in sunlight as much as you can fungus hates the sun
  • Clean socks I change into fresh clean socks constantly
  • Handwash & sanitize socks I handwash all of my socks by soaking them in this collapsible dish tub with super hot water, laundry detergent, and a few drops of dettol, which is this super concentrated antiseptic liquid that kills the fungus
  • Spray on sanitizer If I'm ever lazy, I carry this hand sanitizer spray to spray my toenail before going to bed. I also spray this in my shoes & flip flops at night. I also use this to spray down my nail filer, sink, hands, etc. to not spread fungus.

I use to have bacne*. Trt didn’t really amplify it, but it didn’t help it either.

I shower twice a day, in the morning I do a salicylic wash ( https://www.amazon.com/CeraVe-Salicylic-Ounce-Fragrance-Exfoliate/dp/B077TWXCQV/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=salycic+acid+body+wash&qid=1566330525&s=gateway&sprefix=salycic+acid+bo&sr=8-3 ). Put it on with a brush or luffaand let it sit on your skin for 3-4 min! Very important to let it sit.

In the afternoon after the gym step one is a benzoyl peroxide wash, a 10% works a lot better for me than the 4%. But I know some people can’t handle the 10% ( https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Song-Benzoyl-Peroxide-Treatment/dp/B07GJLMK14/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=acne+wash&qid=1566330637&s=gateway&sr=8-3). Again let it sit on your skin for 3-4 min after applying before rinsing. Step 2 (https://www.amazon.com/Noble-Formula-Pyrithione-Vegan-Butter/dp/B00606RORK/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?keywords=zinc+soap&qid=1566330752&s=gateway&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFLSEVEVlNQMFk3S0EmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA3NDcyOTMzUlUyRENFS0RZTUZZJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA2OTM4OTUyUVAzMkRYRU5HRkk5JndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfcGhvbmVfc2VhcmNoX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= ) apply this to your skin with a luffa and let sit 1-2 minutes, if you can have someone apply it directly to your back that helps tremendously.

You should see difference in 30-45 days. Be warned, it gets worse before it gets better. Week 2-3 people are like wtf and will quit, don’t. Just keep washing and cleansing.

Also, if you use conditioner a lot. Rinse your head forward not back. I’ve found that conditioner with sulfides make acne a lot worse.

Day 90 your skin should be completely clear. I love my skin now. Kind of “time consuming” and no such thing as a quick shower anymore. But can wear a tank top or work on my cars outside with no shirt and not have any worries about my skin being judged.

u/SkyWarrior21 · 5 pointsr/wicked_edge

If you want something that is just good enough to get the job done and don't care for scent, go for a shave stick or cream in a tube such as La Toja, Arko, Derby, Wilkinson Sword, Speick, Palmolive etc.

But honestly, your best bet would be Pre de Provence. It's very cheap and because it's a quadruple-milled soap, it will last many years plus the quality and scent of it is amazing.

u/shewh0mustnotbenamed · 5 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I'm loving my Panasonic Facial Trimmer. No cuts, ingrown hairs or PIH! It's way gentler than tweezing.

I bought Benton High Content Snail Bee Skin, Lotion and Mask Packs. The Skin and Mask Packs are long-time favs and the Lotion is a new addition. The Skin and Lotion were a steal - $9 for 5 oz on Amazon Prime. Yay for snail-y, niacinamide-filled goodness!

In the beginning of the month, I started Curology (4% Azelaic Acid | 1% Clindamycin | 4% Niacinamide). I'll replace niacinamide with tretinoin soon - my provider is being cautious and tons of my skincare includes niacinamide. I switched from generic tretinoin gel 0.01% to Curology to avoid drying alcohol and try azelaic acid (for acne and PIH). So far so good!

I'm on a quest to find fragrance-free, low pH (goal: pH 5.5) body washes. I want to snag CeraVe Hydrating Body Wash or Aquaphor Gentle Body Wash as soon as I find them in a brick-and-mortar store. Here's a list I've compiled with * next to ones I've tried:

Not sure what your budget is, but here are a few soap of the lower-cost, Amazon available soaps that I would recommend.

Pré de Provence

Pré de Provence is an excellent triple- or by some accounts quad-milled soap French soap, and strikes one of the best cost/performance/longevity ratios I've ever seen on a soap. It creates an excellent, slick, protective lather and provides an awesome post-shave feel even after you rinse it off. It comes in two scents:

Pré de Provence is a light, herbal scent that seems to have a strong sage note in it. I haven't used it, but I have used its brother. $11.99USD for 150g on Amazon.

Pré de Provence No. 63 is a warm, spicy cologne sort of scent that has notes of pepper, cedarwood, leather and tobacco leaves among others. $14.04USD for 150g on Amazon.

Cella Crema da Barba

Cella is a soft Italian soap that has a mild scent of cherry and almond. I don't know if it would be considered "manly," but this stuff has been around for nearly 120 years, and men have been shaving with it for all that time, so it has to be doing something right. It's also a great performer with good post-shave feel. $12.00 for 150g on Amazon.

La Toja

La Toja is a Spanish soap in stick form, containing mineral salts. Its scent reminds me a bit of briny sea air and talcum powder. La Toja's claim is that the addition of the mineral salts helps as a skin conditioner. $6.00USD for 50g on Amazon.

Speick

Speick is a German soap whose scent comes from the speick plant and lavender essential oil. It's one of my favorite soaps of all time in terms of both performance and scent. $8.08USD on Amazon.

Chiseled Face Groomatorium

Chiseled Face is one of our US artisans, and his products are among the best performing that I've ever used. He has a handful of different scents that you may find interesting, but my favorite of them is Ghost Town Barber.

Chiseled Face Ghost Town Barber has notes of bergamot, basil leaf, white patchouli, oakmoss, texas cedar, leather, smoke, and gunpowder (I copy/pasted that from his description). $14.99USD for 113g on Amazon.

These are all US links, so I hope they work for you. I'm sorry to say that I can't help with the dry skin thing; my skin is fairly oily and not overly sensitive.

Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89

Brush: Fendrihan Synthetic

Shaving Cream: Speick (currently overpriced)

Or if you want to go for a Shaving Soap:

Shaving Soap: PdP 63

or

B&M Latha Oceana

AfterShave: Nivea Sensitive Cooling (or get one from local drugstore, walmart etc (non cooling version))

Blades: Get this from tryablade.com

But if I were you:

I would get: the DE89 razor from Amazon, a 22mm synthetic brush from Maggard Razors, B&M Seville Shave soap/Speick Shave Cream from Maggard Razors, Blade Sampler from tryablade, and nivea aftershave balm sensitive from Local stores

I think most of it is bullshit, but some of the stuff does work.

Like Watermelon frost. I have zero idea how it works, but it does work. I've been using it since I was child, and it works for canker sores.

My issue is that most of the homeopathy stuff is not as strictly regulated by the FDA, and the ones that sort of work can cause bad reactions for prescribed medicine you're taking.

u/Noonibensi · 4 pointsr/beauty

I have found that an apple cider vinegar rinse every other week or so works great! My hair blow dries a lot faster and it seems fluffier. I ordered one off amazon that’s actually a shampoo scented like apples for like $4-5 bucks. Best investment for my hair in awhile.

Live Clean Apple Cider Detox Shampoo, 12 oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BIWYZZK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6S05CbGZ935E7

Edit: Oops - you weren’t looking for shampoo, but this lets me use my normal conditioner and still leaves it fluffy and not weighed down.

You can absolutely use facial products on your back. Have you tried using a body cleanser with salicylic acid? Phisoderm makes one - link here - that I've tried myself and also tried out on my husband. It keeps acne at bay and heals up whiteheads as well.

I have used CoxRx AHA once or twice when I got unfortunate pimples on my chest from sweating while working out in the yard. Cleared it right up.

Also, to the comment about washing hair. I'd recommend washing and conditioning your hair and then washing your back. Some hair products, especially the conditioner, can clog your pores if left on your skin.

u/Th3wizz4rd · 3 pointsr/medical

u/banhammerpants · 3 pointsr/blogsnark

Do you use mouthwash? I used to get a lot and someone (my ortho maybe?) told me to stop using mouthwash and it seemed to work. I think it's the Sodium Lauryl Sulfate thing.

My crazy chinese mom would always make us use this awful bitter powder. You put some on the sore and try to keep your tongue away from it (to avoid the bitterness) and it would help the sore heal much faster. My sores could last up to 2 weeks, but with the powder, it would be sealed by the next day and on it's way to healing.

Anyways, I recently went looking for it because I'm out of the stuff and was pleasantly surprised to find that it's a thing:
https://www.amazon.com/SANJIN-Watermelon-Frost-Compound-Solstice/dp/B000VEWVMU
(My sister and I used to think it was all crazy eastern medicine mumbo jumbo, but we totally owe my mom an apology!)

*I've never bought it from Amazon, so I can't vouch for that seller. I was just looking for the name/packaging to try and remember how to ask for it at my local chinese pharmacy.

Good luck!

I've struggled with back/shoulder acne too basically for the past 15 years, and the combination that has worked best for me is the Neutrogena acne body wash with salicylic acid (used every day on problem areas at the very end of a shower), and then applying the glycolic acid toner from the Ordinary with my hands after my skin is dry and letting that dry down fully before getting dressed.

The toner was too harsh for my face but worked wonders on my back! I've only been using it for a little over a month but I have pretty much no active acne left and it looks like it is even starting to fade some of the PIH. It is drying, so I do sometimes use just whatever body lotion I have on hand at least half an hour after applying the toner. But I don't even do that every day, just when it feels a little dry. I'm a bit hesitant to recommend a product from TO right now because of whatever is going on with the company, but it has been more effective than anything else I've tried and is very affordable so I think it's worth a try!

I use a custom designed Shampoo called Function of Beauty. Basically, it allows you to custom design the goals of the hair care (for example, I want length, volume, shine, hydration, etc) and then they custom make it for you. It even has your name printed on the bottle. I just started using it a couple weeks ago, but I am really liking it thus far. About your age here!

I have pretty difficult skin... it's sensitive and gets rashes in response to all sorts of things, I have PIH (every time I get a pimple, after it heals, a dark mark stays on my skin for weeks and weeks), it gets oily and dry, the works. I ended up on this subreddit seeking help, and though I'm still experimenting with some things, it's DEFINITELY getting better.

I usually shower twice a day just because gym time works out in the middle of my schedule. I do my face washing in the shower, and I have the generic Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle body wash. It's actually pretty good on your face. I also have the Cerave hydrating face wash, but I'm not sure lately if it adds anything. Maybe. For now the Tea Tree Tingle seems to be doing just fine.

Every few days I use the St. Ives Pads. I know a lot of people on here recommend the Stridex, but my hyper-sensitive skin had a conniption about those.

By day, my moisturizer is the Cerave in the tub and they are NOT KIDDING. Of all the products I've tried courtesy of this sub, this is the #1 most helpful thing I've discovered yet.

At night, in hopes of treating my PIH, I've been experimenting with Retinol. They say it takes a long time to notice any difference. They're right. I've noticed no difference. BUT thus far, my skin hasn't broken out, gotten blotchy or rashy, or otherwise freaked out over this stuff, so... I'll hang in there.

Oh, and Sunscreen. I use Neutrogena Sensitive Skin. I recommend starting with VERY LITTLE and working it in one section at a time. It's easy to go overboard and end up with caked-on white face.

PROTIP WITH SUNSCREEN: you guessed it: there have been cases of melanoma in my family and I freckle out a lot and have a high risk (I told you my skin was difficult). ALWAYS remember to put sunscreen all over your ears (front and back) and on the tops of your feet/toes. People don't think to cover these areas and don't check for melanoma there in time, usually.

Oh, and last: I've tried the Aztec Healing Clay twice now as I've needed to get rid of blackheads or calm things down a bit. Definitely use Apple Cider Vinegar, that stuff is the best.

ORDER OF OPERATIONS

  1. in shower, Tea Tree Tingle or Cerave hydrating face wash

  2. (only 2-3x/week) St. Ives Pads

  3. Moisturizer Cerave in the tub or Retinol

  4. By day: Neutrogena Sensitive Skin sunscreen

  5. Randomly on a Saturday afternoon if my skin's been having freak-outs, Aztec Healing Clay

I'm pretty new at this myself, but so far it's working out pretty well. I started with the Beginner's Skincare Routine as a rough guide and otherwise lurked around figuring things out (which is still pretty much how I'm handling it). So far, awesome sub, and found a lot of this has been really helpful!
u/calicovirus · 2 pointsr/muacjdiscussion

Seconding what the previous poster said. I have a similar hair type - very thin/fine, but VERY dense so there is a LOT of it, and it gets oily quickly and doesn't hold volume past day 1 (and even that is because it likes the hair dryer). Like /u/Falling_Glass I usually just use Gold Bond Body Powder, but there are some other options depending on what exactly you are looking for. Bodyglide comes in a stick like deodorant, and it seems to have good reviews. Elitefts just started selling Dr. Greenfield's Chafe Shield, but I don't know much about it. Anti Monkey Butt Powder is another product I have heard about people using. There is also a Chafing Relief Powder Gel that works well, but is pretty expensive (and is marketed to women if that is an issue). Maybe one of these will fit what you are looking for.

u/melini · 2 pointsr/Hair

For a less expensive brand that's still really good... I love Live Clean apple cider clarifying shampoo, it makes my hair very much lighter and shiny. If you live in a dry climate, though, I would recommend conditioning well after using it, and perhaps using an oil, as it does make my normally heavy hair kind of staticky.

u/Jaezma · 2 pointsr/bigboobproblems

Is it an anti fungal? The other thing my doctor has me do was take low dose of Benadryl. I have super sensitive skin and am mildly allergic to a bunch of stuff. When I get really bad flare ups (of anything) the Benadryl helps.

This is what I used. soap

Also, clean sheets every day, and clean towels. I know it sucks and is a lot of laundry but it may be worth it to get rid of the rash.

Good luck and I hope it gets better soon!

Dude showers. A friend brought some to middlelands a few weeks ago and they were clutch. Basically a wet wipe but it's enormous. I used 2 and was completly clean head to toe. Also purchased and used this solar shower. Was hot enough to not even care if it heated up so we never had it in the sun. Held enough for 4-5 showers if you use it sparingly.

I bought this one off of amazon and used it when my feet started to get some sort of fungus when I was using my gym shower every day and it cleared up very quickly. I didn't need to finish the bottle. But I caught whatever I had super early.

Aveeno has a very good fragrance-free body wash. But if you're near a Target, you can just use their knock-off version for $3. I do this.

On the more expensive side, Cerave now has a fragrance-free body wash with excellent ingredients for $10 on amazon. If you have very sensitive skin, this might be worth trying.

u/webbed_feets · 2 pointsr/malegrooming

I have sensitive skin so I use Aveeno unscented body wash. I rely on my deoderant and cologne to make me smell good. I wash and condition my hair with [Tea Tree Special](https://www.amazon.com/Tea-Tree-Special-Shampoo-33-8/dp/B000MD65FO/ref=sr_1_4_s_it? s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1538936075&sr=1-4&keywords=tea%2Btree%2Bshampoo&th=1) shampoo and conditioner. I also tend to get red bumps from ingrown hair on my thighs (weird I know) so I use a 10% benzol peroxide wash for that.

You're welcome! I struggled with the problem for such a long time that I studied it and tried almost everything! Just spreading the word.

These things help, too: body wash 1, body wash 2 and cream 1 and cream 2!

I had no idea body wash might be a part of it. I currently use this fragrance-free body wash/ with a sponge loofa everyday, but I honestly can't tell if my hands are getting any softer. Are people with soft hands generally self-aware? I mean, I've only met one guy with super soft hands before and whenever I shake hands with someone who has super soft hands (very rare even for women), I complement them on it.

I will ask my mom to get me some of those salux cloths I guess.

What is a normal life? A "normal" life is just the typical regular behaviors we've come to accept as being commonplace. But there are many variants on living that have different behaviors. People go climb mountains or they hike trails that take months to finish or they sail around the world, etc.

For astronauts eating is not too exceptional. They basically eat the equivalent of MREs. Weightlessness adds a little complexity but not a ton. Your body isn't dependent on gravity for chewing, swallowing, or digestion (you could eat upside down, you can even drink water upside down though it can be a little tricky). Going to the bathroom in space is easy, doing it without making a mess is a bit more difficult. On the ISS astronauts use a device that pulls a small vacuum, pulling the waste away from the body quickly and funneling it into a waste collection tank.

On the ISS astronauts do not shower, instead they basically give themselves a "sponge bath" using a no-rinse cleaner (you can actually buy the same cleaner astronauts use). This isn't exactly "abnormal" people climbing mountains or hiking the Apalachian trail also don't take showers every day.

They also don't wash their clothes. They don't spend a lot of time outside in the dirt (there is no dirt) so their clothes don't get very soiled. They have an allotment of clothing they go through during their stay and then they just toss it when they're done with it.

There have been several studies on showers or washing machines on space stations and they're very much possible, the current ISS just didn't have budget or space for such things.

I'm starting to dive deep into the world of skincare pH and I'd like to try a low pH (~5.5 pH) body wash. I'm looking for a cheap, foaming body wash that I can use with a body scrub. I'm looking at the following body washes on Amazon:

u/IneffectiveDetective · 2 pointsr/AskMen

this body wash and using this for spot treatment has taken care of stubborn ringworm and the jock itch I used to get. I even took prescription anti-fungal and that couldn’t kill it off completely. I use this stuff without prescription and it’s gone for GOOD now. I only use the body wash now on a each morning basis.

u/halobreaker · 2 pointsr/fragrance

Although it's not my favorite cologne (I have a decant), I use 18.21 Man Made Wash (home) during the winter. The bottle is huge and reasonably priced. It's a heavy tobacco fragrance (i.e. Cuban cigar). The conditioner in it works well as a lotion to keep my skin from drying out. I don't use it as a shampoo, though. I use Lock Stock & Barrel for that.

u/kawausokoi · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Your sweat has antimicrobial properties to it. The main one is the gene Dermcidin which encodes an antimicrobial peptide that is excreted in human sweat.

It may be your hot showers and over-cleansing that are doing it. Try bringing the temperature down as far as you can stand it. I know how great a hot shower feels after a workout, but my skin just goes all to hell if I indulge myself. Does your gym have a hot tub? Heat does help with muscle recovery and I've found that sitting in the hot tub (as long as it is 101-105 F, any hotter is straight up awful) for 10 minutes gets me the relaxing heat I want from a hot shower but keeps my face out of danger. This may not work for you if your back has a tendency to breakout badly.

If you're going to hot tub often, I recommend a more gentle body wash like Eucerin's Skin Calming Body Wash and a light moisturizer like Hada Labo.

Since it sounds like you've been drying your skin out with all the washing and heat, I highly recommend using the Hada Labo linked above and/or their lighter lotion that's really more like a toner. This one is ultra light and watery. I use it like a toner before the milky Hada Labo.

I also remove my sunscreen and whatever buildup may have occurred during the day with micellar water before working out.

u/almightywhacko · 2 pointsr/wicked_edge

For soaps/creams on Amazon:

u/GetOffMyLawn_ · 2 pointsr/Fibromyalgia

Try getting a low flow showerhead, also try a handheld showerhead so you have more control over the water flow. Also a shower stool helps a lot with any fatigue issue. Cooler showers are supposedly better because they don't trigger blood pressure issues, but I hate the cold. But too hot and and I have other problems. You can get a filter that filters out the chlorine in case that's what's bothering you.

Also, you don't have to wash everything when you shower. Just the dirty bits. So your hair (if needed) face, armpits, groin, between the toes, and then under skin folds if you have any (like under breasts). No need to scrub either. Save the full body wash for once a week or whenever. If your skin is still sensitive see if you can find something very mild and unscented to wash with. Cetaphil makes a cleansing bar. It's not soap and it's not drying like soap. Ivory soap might be okay because it doesn't have a lot of additives but it is drying. I like olive oil soaps. Many of them are herbal but you can find plain ones. Glycerine soap is also better tolerated by some people.

If drying off is a problem then wrap yourself in a terry robe and sit or lie down and air dry. You can turn on a fan if you need more help. Some people use a hair dryer to dry off. Obviously make sure it has a GFCI plug or you plug it into a GFCI outlet.

If it's the water itself that is hurting you can buy waterless or no rinse cleanser like they use on people in hospitals. https://www.amazon.com/No-Rinse-Body-Bath-16/dp/B000093I60?th=1

Microfiber towels might be gentler on your skin than terry towels. And blot don't rub.

u/ArtsyFartsyAlcoholic · 2 pointsr/migraine

It worked for me too. This morning I had to wake up extra early but had a migraine just starting so I hopped in the shower and used my peppermint scented conditioner from Trader Joe's, after a few minutes I felt fine. If you have TJ near you I highly recommend getting this shampoo and conditioner set (I think they're less than $5/each). Not only are they nice for your hair and scalp they're also great for when you feel a migraine coming on.

Edit: The name is Tea Tree Tingle, it has peppermint and eucalyptus in it. I might be wrong about the price because in Amazon they're nearly $12 per bottle. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002LMBLTY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_2UQUzb878K4SS

Edit 2: There's also a body wash version! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002LMCFFS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_rUQUzbM6GFRF0

u/baconatedbacon · 2 pointsr/preppers

I'm glad you made it without too much trouble. Here's my thoughts:

Cooking: If you can avoid it, do so. I suggest a pantry with things that are low prep and require little cooking. Maintaining a good pantry is a lost art amongst my generation. Friends of mine have a pantry with nothing but spices in it. Peanut butter and honey are essential items in my pantry. This, like with planning meals, it is essential you stock items you eat normally. Low prep items might be things like bread and a can of tuna, bread and peanut butter, dry cereal, power bars, powdered drinks (koolaide, gatoraide), applesauce, jerky, crackers and spray cheese, canned items like spaghetti-o's, baked beans, soups/stews, etc. Get creative, you'd be surprised what you can come up with without needing to cook. MRE's were mentioned but they violate my advise of prepping with what you normally eat. Think about your options and maintain a rotating stock of these items. That way you can always eat what you normally eat but have unopened quantities in times of crisis. As you build out these items, try to note how long it takes you to go through them and you'll get a sense for how much you should store. You don't have to create a well-stocked pantry over night. Just buy a bit extra when you do your normal shopping.

Safety: I think you have the right idea.

Heat: While there are powered fans don't forget the old fashioned folded paper fans. They aren't as good as A/C by a long shot but any relief from the heat will help.

Baths: Just remember a bath is a luxury in a crisis and that many Europeans go several days between showers. If you must, there are no rinse body washes and shampoos, some of which even come in the form of a wipe such as https://www.amazon.com/No-Rinse-Body-Bath-16/dp/B000093I60?th=1
Will it be as good as a shower? Heck no. But I appreciate feeling cleaner does grant a major morale boost.

Boredom: A deck of cards is standard issue but I appreciate that gets old fast. I keep a few books unread on my bookshelf. It's a natural side effect of having a busy life anyway. I think reading is probably one of the better ways to pass the time.

Helping: It's always good to be neighborly like this.

u/Mindflux · 2 pointsr/AskReddit

This (Gold Bond) medicated powder applied to your nether regions (for men) after a shower feels amazing. It keeps your twig and berries dry all day long and if you should have an encounter with a woman your bits don't smell like a cesspool.

It takes a couple days to get used to the tingling (which only lasts a couple seconds).. but feels amazing. AMAZING.

P.S Don't get the green bottle, it's got more menthol in it which leads to more tingling.. but in a painful sort of way. (IMHO!)

u/106 · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I have some mild to moderate eczema. I use Eucerin Skin Calming Dry Skin Body Wash

I use a mild, fragrance and dye free soap only on the more... apocrine areas—then I use the body wash everywhere else. I try to keep the water on the cooler side and finish with a lotion or body oil afterward.

Regarding shampoo... I don't have any specific recommendations other than try shampooing less often (around once a week) and just rinse the rest of the time.

u/tquiring · 1 pointr/sex

This is what i use to keep me cool, dry and comfortable. Gold Bond triple action medicated body powder

Warning.. use it in moderation at first until you know what to expect as the menthol cooling effect can be uncomfortable if you put too much on your dangly bits. And i wouldn't recommend getting the extra strength bottle for the same reason.

I've also heard of some people using a makeup brush to powder their privates.

I have cystic acne all over my face and shoulders and chest (fyi I'm female, is that ok?)

I have to take a pill that balances my hormones but that's a pretty big move for me. Salcylic Acid (aka old school aspirin) is what helps me clear and dry out pimples/ones starting to come up. I use this for my face Phisoderm That's for my face.

Now for my body, I use the poof thingies with this: Body Wash This helps.

And yes, water like all get out, less processed food if possible, and see if a doctor could prescribe you clindamycin phosphate topical gel. You spread that over your face/shoulders/whatever (thinly) and it gets absorbed in the skin. It's an antibiotic. What's even better is that this one stays in the skin, so it's not just kill the stuff on the top, it's kill stuff on the top and if things below it are starting, well, there you go.
But that's prescribed only. Go see your doctor.

Change sheets often but PILLOWCASES DAILY. If you're having a horrid nasty-ass huge breakout, try this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC9ladgGHto . Don't do it more than once a month - you will dry your skin out like heck.

u/FreakyFruit · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

Hey man! I used Phisoderm's Anti-Blemish Body Wash, about two bottles' worth until I figured that the back acne seemed to be largely under control. I declared it a safe zone and switched back to normal body washes. I also used Clearasil's Ultra Acne Pads to clean up my back acne, mostly around my shoulder blades, every night before I went to bed.

It also helps that I never wear the same shirt twice without washing it first. If I'd worn a shirt all day, I take it off and change it for a new one before bedtime. Wash or change your bath towel and pillowcases every time you do laundry, which for me was about once a week. And don't forget to change your bedsheets every so often.

This helped me a lot! I still have some acne on my face and one or two on my back, but I have it under control now. Just my advice. Good luck!

Like what others said: aloe vera gel. Also, cold compresses or occasionally rinsing in cool/cold water helps with relief. Try not to wear tight clothing around the areas but if you do, make sure the fabric is breathable and light. Another tip is to use body powder, such as Gold Bond Medicated or baby powder.

I've decided to get more serious in trying to combat by PIH and need some help in formulating a new skincare routine. I usually do my routine every 2 days after I shower and am treating PIH primarily on my chest, back and shoulders. Whatever I plan on using on my face I was also planning on using there too.

My main problem is trying to figure out when to apply a Brooklyn Botany Vitiman C Serum, TO Niacinamide, and Rosehip Oil. My theorized routine is as follows:

-----

CeraVe SA Body Wash

Eucerin In-Shower Body Lotion

Alpha Skin Care Body Lotion, 12% Glycolic AHA

To Ordinary Arbutin

CeraVa Moisturizing Cream (for face, back, shoulder and chest)

Some other generic lotion for everywhere else

Sunscreen

-----

Where should I fit the Serum, Niacinamide and Rosehip Oil, and why? I've been reading that the Serum could come after AHA, but it interferes with Niacinamide, which I have no idea where that would go and why it interferes. I also read that the Rosehip Oil can be mixed with my Moisturizing Cream; just add a few drops.

edit and addition - My current routine is a simple body wash, Alpha Skin Care AHA 10% and some Hydroquinone cream (both on face, shoulder, back and chest), Moisturize then Aloe Vera. My skin type is also pretty normal, it didn't break out or anything when I first ever introduced the AHA, and with age my skin has seemed to become stable; I don't break out very often anymore, just recovering.

Hey, I am looking to start a skin care regime but i have little to no knowledge on pretty much everything. so i have a lot of questions, i apologize if this isnt the right place but hopefully im not breaking any rules. as some background I am a 23 year old guy, tend to have pretty oily skin, and i have some issues with acne and back acne. I was hoping for some feedback about what i plan on starting.

first off I am thinking of using a combination of these things:
facial cleanser and body cleanser while showering,

than i would also suppliment with:

a facial cleanser, exfoliator, and moisturizer at night.
I got most of these items from beginner guide on this sub, but what i was wondering is if any of these products are redundant or unneeded if my goal is for a simple and relatively cheap routine? Additionally i was wondering if anyone could roughly predict how long these volumes would last?
Any help would be really appreciated!! Thank you!!

I don't have rough and bumpy skin so I went with this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017610BG8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

They make antifungal/bacterial body wash that you could give a try. The one I use is Purely Norwest Anti-Fungal Foot & Body Wash. It uses tea tree oil, so it still smells nice and won't burn you. I use it on my feet, arms pits and groin. I recommend also using something atleast slightly exfoliating to scrub your armpits with while using whichever soap you choose.

If you feel like you have issues with very sweaty armpits, you can also try dedicated antiperspirants, which actually work to prevent your sweat glands from, well, sweating. (Just be sure to monitor your use so not to over dry out your skin).

Oooooh! I have this amazing problem too! Isn't it the best? :)

The three (four?) things I've found that helped me the most (and trust me I've tried SO MANY) are this Cerave bodywash scrubbed on using this scrubbie, followed after shower/bath with this aftershave and then this lotion after you give the aftershave time to air dry. I can also tell you that I've used that Buf Puf for probably a decade now and that alone doesn't do the trick. It wasn't until I got the other 3 products that I noticed a significant difference. Sadly, I started using all 3 at the exact same time, so I'm not sure which of the 3 are most helpful if you wanted to start slow and try one at a time.

I can tell you that shaving cream doesn't do anything for me in helping to prevent. And I've tried this after-shave powder and found it to be nice but not helpful for what I need. I sweat too much for a light powder to help with anything!

Edit: Just a side note - that Cerave lotion burns when you apply it right after shaving. I still do it and the burning stops after a second, but wanted to give fair warning!

I'm experiencing the same thing. I've had the worst eczema flare-up of my life for the past 3 months with huge, weeping lesions on my legs. Logic (and every dermatologist) says keep moisturizing, but I wasn't seeing any progress. I actually began noticing the weeping worsened after showering and applying lotion (Eucerin and Aveeno, for the most part).

My acupuncturist finally suggested I take a break from the brand name body washes and lotions. After 2 days of just rinsing with water in the shower and putting nothing on my skin, my patches stopped weeping and the itching began subsiding. Within 3 days, my skin started showing real signs of healing. (I'm now using a natural tea tree cleanser and applying sunflower oil after showers. This combo doesn't irritate my skin at all. Highly recommend!)

It's unnerving to think these products have been making our skin worse, but what a relief to actually see results.

Just logged back in. Yeah, I'd say 95% of the itch is gone now. I bought funga soap as /u/666isbad suggested and it worked within 1-2 weeks. I should note that I used this in conjunction with the ointment that my Dermotaloist gave so it's hard to say how much benefit the soap had by itself. But I don't care as long as it's gone.

Here's the soap I bought; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HNWNXAW/

I recommend one that has tea tree oil like this does.
