Honestly unless you're

  1. Showering after

  2. Using wet wipes

  3. Using a bidet

No amount of scrubbing at your asshole with dry paper is going to get it super clean.

After an hour or so of just moving around/body heat/sweat/etc, anyone who goes down on you WILL get some butt B.O.

People really should plunk down the $35 for a bidet and stop shitting like barbarians.

If you spill salsa on shag carpeting, do you scrub at it with paper towels or do you get some kind of water in the mix?
u/jmaca90 · 358 pointsr/hockey

For real though, bidets are the truth and seriously neither expensive nor hard to install.

I’m sitting on mine right now after taking a heavenly coffee poop and am reveling in my clean butthole.

If you want to live like a caveman smearing your feces further with an elevated soft paper towel, be my guest though.

Edit: Best wishes, Q. May you grab your nuts at many refs in your next chapter.

Edit 2: here’s a model similar to the one I have:
Luxe Bidet Neo 120 - Self Cleaning Nozzle - Fresh Water Non-Electric Mechanical Bidet Toilet Attachment (blue and white) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A0RHSJO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_GaF4BbHZXSN67

I may your buttholes ever be clean!

u/vidyjagamedoovoolope · 296 pointsr/gaming

Fucking love my bidet. Cheap and easy to get, and I don't wanna poop anywhere else.

Also you used the wrong comparison operator. That means toilet paper is the best

Edit: for reference people.. What I use is something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Luxe-MB110-Non-Electric-Mechanical-Attachment/dp/B001KKRCFA

Cheap.. Cheaper than the toilet paper you waste, you have a fresh just showered bum. And it really is amazing. Seems like everybody is skeptical at first, including me. I guess in the US were taught that paper makes your ass no longer smell like shit. That isn't the case, can confirm.

Edit 2: btw my SO loves it for after sex, it hits the vagina real good and clean it up then too, if you aim it towards there. So less dripping for hours after sex

u/ArchibaldLeach · 274 pointsr/AskReddit

A bidet. Seriously, go try one. Changed my life. Bought an attachment soon after for my toilet and now have a squeaky clean bunghole 24/7.

*Here is the one I use, since people were asking for an example.

u/steinman17 · 208 pointsr/INEEEEDIT

It's called a Tub Shroom. It works very well. Though the hair is rather gross after collecting other dirt and soap and stuff, I would never clean it off with my bare fingers. Use a tissue for god's sake!

u/Major_Fudgemuffin · 176 pointsr/todayilearned

Amazon's current bestseller is similar to the one I got, and is going for $25 here.

They are super easy to install and you will never feel cleaner after taking a shit.

u/robotortoise · 165 pointsr/Showerthoughts

Get a bidet, dude.

It changed my life. No ass rashes!

u/ProtonDeathRay · 121 pointsr/AskReddit

Even if I don't reach the top, I'm helping every single Redditor obtain a clean ass is a 5 minute installation by buying this over 300 person reviewed, 5 star, $53 fucking dollar toilet bidet attachment.

Please upvote for a collective clean-ass Reddit!

edit: sorry, for raw link.

u/Travels4Work · 119 pointsr/HighQualityGifs

If you can turn a wrench and tape some threads, a bidet will change your life. Never again will you make a thousand smearing wipes that still result in skidmarks. You just pat dry and walk away clean.

The only problem is that you'll never want to poop away from home again.

u/bertiebees · 110 pointsr/gifs

Get a bidet you animals

Edit: Ass usual the uncivilized shit wipers people have questions/confusion about bidets. They make bidets that run on electricity for warm water and a fan to dry you after washing your poopy butthole. For those of you willing to try the Cadillac of butt cleaning here is my amazing bidet. For you ballers on a budget I suggest the far cheaper but still adequate bidet. I say with zero hyperbole it will literally change your life for the better.

P.S For those of you buying and using "wet wipes" to clean yourself, you are living a dangerous lie that makes the rest of society worse off and doesn't make you as clean as a bidet would.

u/Trailberry · 107 pointsr/PersonalFinanceCanada

Without question, a bidet.

u/Cbird54 · 104 pointsr/youtubehaiku

It's cheap and easy to install and the guy who converted me to the way of the bidet recommended it to me.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TPGPUW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/saludyourshorts · 102 pointsr/PandR

Install a bidet. They are $24 on Amazon. Fuck fabric, only use it to dry your clean ass.

Edit: For your health

u/rakista · 100 pointsr/IAmA

Here is a mechanical one, you could easily have someone modify the knob to be a lever you could manipulate.

http://www.amazon.com/Luxe-MB110-Non-Electric-Mechanical-Attachment/dp/B001KKRCFA/ref=pd_cp_hi_4

u/fedora_nice_guy · 84 pointsr/askscience

Don't forget the energy costs of manufacture and transportation. It takes 17.3 terawatts of energy to manufacture and transport toilet paper per year. That's a huge carbon footprint.

If you're concerned about the ecological impact of TP, I highly recommend a bidet attachment for your toilet like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Luxe-Bidet-Neo-120-Non-Electric/dp/B00A0RHSJO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1541959341&sr=8-3&keywords=bidet+attachment+for+toilet&dpID=419LXSZM6YL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

You will use significantly less toilet paper, maybe even eschewing it entirely.

u/rabidfurby · 73 pointsr/AskMen

$35 on Amazon and it took me like 20 minutes to install.

u/iSmoke-Trees · 68 pointsr/explainlikeimfive

To my American brothers and sisters if you got shit on your arm would you wipe it off or clean it with water and wipe it?

I'm a American and I bought a bidet on Amazon after using it at a friends house. In American men want to seem masculine and they wanna seem not "gay". Most American men then see water going up your ass as gay or weird. They also don't understand how it could be cleaner.

I'm a guy who owns a bidet.

Astor Non-Electric Mechanical Bidet Toilet

Buy this for 24 bucks and you'll never go back plus it takes us a year to use a big package of toilet paper now.

u/tvise · 65 pointsr/AskMen

Here is the one I got, its powered by water pressure and because of that there is no electricity and they last a really long time. Astor Bidet Fresh Water Spray Non-Electric Mechanical Bidet Toilet Seat Attachment CB-1000 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003TPGPUW/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_rwh8ybK95BNM3

u/moutonbleu · 64 pointsr/vancouver

What's your bidget? ;)

I'd highly recommend this one, hooks up to the water supply. Totos are the best but you'll need an electric outlet nearby. This is from Amazon unfortunately, but don't know where to buy this locally. It's great!

Luxe Bidet Neo 180 (Elite Series) - Self Cleaning Dual Nozzle - Fresh Water Non-Electric Mechanical Bidet Toilet Attachment with Strong Faucet Valves and Metal Hoses https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00A0RMQ1E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_wD52xbYSPD7X4

u/Not-Jon-Stewart · 62 pointsr/AskReddit

You can get a simple bidet on amazon that works on water pressure alone for about $30-40 here

u/vikkivinegar · 59 pointsr/Youniqueamua

Pro tip:

To prevent Poseidon's Kiss, grab a lil handful of toilet paper and lay it in the water (in the "target area"), before you go. Paper gives a nice little "landing pad", if you will, and your butt will stay dry.

Also, I just got a bidet and it's the best fucking thing in the world. America is waaay behind on this. I got this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Luxe-Bidet-Neo-320-Non-Electric/dp/B00A0RX2UI/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=bidet&qid=1565294427&s=grocery&sr=1-5-catcorr

it was easy to install and keeps you feeling sooo clean. Also need to use paper only to dry yourself. That way I don't feel so wasteful to drop a few squares in the potty before I go #2.

^sorry ^for ^the ^tmi!

u/WedgeAndTonic · 57 pointsr/HomeImprovement

Yep, the Neo 320, never look back haha

Luxe Bidet Neo 320 - Self Cleaning Dual Nozzle - Hot and Cold Water Non-Electric Mechanical Bidet Toilet Attachment (blue and white) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A0RX2UI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_jz2iDb8K9DFPZ

u/stufff · 56 pointsr/CrappyDesign

You can get a pretty amazing detachable shower head for $25. This is the one I got on Amazon. It's totally worth spending $25 to up your shower experience and make sure you pressure wash your butthole. I like the occasional rimjob and I will reciprocate, but I want to make sure that butthole is clean. This gets the job done.

u/Jimbabwe · 55 pointsr/IWantToLearn

Get a bidet toilet attachment from Amazon. I got one a few months ago and my butthole has never been happier. This is the one I got: http://www.amazon.com/Luxe-Bidet-Neo-185-Non-Electric/dp/B00P2XZDGG

It can attach to almost any toilet and feels refreshing and awesome and you barely need to wipe at all after a good blast.

u/jjremy · 55 pointsr/worldnews

> <$300

My dude, you can get them For $35 nowadays.
Best $40 I've ever spent.

u/MackLuster77 · 53 pointsr/keto

Look into one of these:

u/Sr_Mothballs · 53 pointsr/gifs

This guy was worth every penny. It just doesn't work well if you take a lot of baths. Showers only and it's amazing.

Edit: Linked the proper tub product and not the sink thanks to /u/2muchCoding

u/RecumbentPhill · 52 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

The one I have is the Luxe 320 which has both nozzles and a hot water connection. Super easy to connect, and because I rent, I just have the plasticky hose coming underneath the door to the under the sink bit.

https://www.amazon.com/Luxe-Bidet-Neo-320-Non-Electric/dp/B00A0RX2UI

u/illuxion · 48 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

edit* Thanks so much for the gold!!!!

u/isabelladangelo · 44 pointsr/NoStupidQuestions

> When I'm at home, I end with a wet wipe, and as such, am sure that I'm clean.

Get a bidet. It's well worth it. The initial cost is a bit much but it won't clog up the pipes (like wet wipes will) and you will save money over time. There are now the bidets you can add on to your already existing toilet.

u/soeasilyexcited · 43 pointsr/SquaredCircle

idk if it's one of the better ones, but this is the one I have, and it works great:

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A0RMQ1E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There's also a cheaper ($35) version that looks to be almost the same (I can't remember now why I got the $50 one):

https://smile.amazon.com/Luxe-Bidet-Neo-120-Non-Electric/dp/B00A0RHSJO?ref_=bl_dp_s_web_5456991011

I actually bought it a few years back after I saw it linked in a random Reddit thread. Definitely the best thing Reddit has done for my life.

u/NotCynicalAtAll · 43 pointsr/technology
u/CharlestonChewbacca · 42 pointsr/AskAnAmerican

Yes. One of the attachment ones, not a separate unit.

I have one on each of the toilets in my home. They're only $35 people!

https://www.amazon.com/Luxe-Bidet-Neo-120-Non-Electric/dp/B00A0RHSJO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1526312435&sr=8-2&keywords=luxe+bidet

u/senbei616 · 42 pointsr/Showerthoughts

Get a bidet, and use baby wipes; your butthole will thank you.

Edit: This is getting way out of hand, it's near abouts time to fucking stop with the hate filled PM's and idiotic comments. I get it, you are really grossed out by poop. I don't know what I can do to help you other than put you higher on the transplant list for a god damn spine.

I hate all of you.

Before we moved in, I hired a forensic cleaning company to completely clean sanitize the whole house. (Well, except for the basement.) Being able to move into a perfectly clean house where I didn't have to worry about my then-infant daughter touching something nasty was a huge help.

Installing bidets on the toilets in the house was a big hygiene improvement, especially for my daughter.

Epoxy coating the garage floor has saved tons of time in spill cleanups.

u/watermeloncup · 39 pointsr/gay_irl

Don't use those things regularly, they dry out the skin and make things worse in the long run. Also don't flush them despite the labeling, they don't break up that easily and can clog your plumbing. Speaking from personal experience on both points :|

Instead buy a cheap bidet attachment for your toilet. I have this one and it took about 15 minutes to install.

u/vishuno · 39 pointsr/gifs

36 bucks. Amazon. Changed my life, and i'm a hairy dude. Spray it down, drip dry while reading reddit or use TP to dry it and get anything left and we're done.

Edit: Shit, if money is that tight for you and it'll make that big of a difference in your quality of life, i'll buy the fucking thing for you.

GAME CHANGER

u/JorjMcKie · 34 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

It will absolutely help.

You can wiggle your butt around and get it pretty much everywhere. I don't usually hose down my cheeks, but the whole crevasse can get a thorough scouring.

source: GF diet, with lots of spicy greasy food = Usually a 5-7 on the birstol stool chart. https://www.continence.org.au/pages/bristol-stool-chart.html

It'll pay for itself in toilet paper in six months or less, and you'll be able to get by with the shittiest, cheapest, thinnest toilet paper on earth and it won't matter because you're only using it to blot clean water off your tradesman's entrance.

u/trialbytrailer · 34 pointsr/HomeImprovement

Do it up real nice for some quality poop time. Get a $40 washlet/bidet kit from Amazon, a squatty potty, poo~pourri...hell, spring for some ambient string lights and a little zen water fountain.

Happy Black Friday, the Luxe Bidet is $25 today.

u/DJApoc · 32 pointsr/lifehacks

This one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TPGPUW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It attaches to your toilet and taps into the same water line. Took me about 10 minutes to install with no plumbing experience.

u/2muchCoding · 32 pointsr/gifs

The one you linked is for sinks whereas this one is for tubs. Either way, +1 for those things as someone with mid back length curly hair!

u/bailsafe · 31 pointsr/iamverybadass

Bidets are God's gift to man. The non-electric ones are pretty cheap too.

u/hemorrhagicfever · 29 pointsr/funny

They are super nice. I just bought a cheep one a year ago and i'm SOOOO glad I did.

But yes, you want TP after you bidet, but just like 2 squares to dry.... But if you dont have any tp, it's just slightly annoying to have a completely clean but slightly damp tush. Annoying vs unlivable.

If you're curious This is the one I suggest. It's $35. I did a lot of research and this one is well reviewed for the price. Installation is about 10 min, you have to unscrew the hose for the toilet, screw it back on, then take of the toilet seat, and put it back on. $35 is throw away money for most people. And you'll save loads on TP so it'll pay for it's self easy. And of course if you ever get the burning shits, you'll be blessing my name.

Seriously, just do it.

It is far cheaper to just get a bidet than using toilet paper alone, or toilet paper in conjunction with wet wipes. I did the math.

u/pezking6983 · 27 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

Skip all of that baby wipes nonsense and join the bidet masterrace. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A0RHSJO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/NightGod · 27 pointsr/tifu

The friends who were with me on vacation when it happened quickly ordered a bidet so none of us had to deal with becoming much better friends than we ever wanted to.

u/xeightx · 27 pointsr/tall

This shower head extension is one of the best thing's I've bought recently:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0064TYE9Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It makes me weep for all those years when I had to squat in the shower to get my shoulders and head wet.

u/Pokiarchy · 26 pointsr/BuyItForLife

The $30 luxe bidet on amazon is perfectly fine and will improve your pooping life significantly (I feel dirty when I poop outside of my home now). You will use significantly less toilet paper and generally feel cleaner (you still need some toilet paper, but never more than one wipe for residuals and wiping up the water you just squirted all over your butthole).

It's exactly like a super soaker shooting your pincher, and you can adjust the pressure, max pressure almost hurts but next time you're 'wiping the marker' think about how nice it would be to just hose it down and be done with it.

u/aveman101 · 25 pointsr/DoByFriday

Try a bidet attachment for your existing toilet.

example.

No dude wipe fatbergs. No blowout. I don't remember the last time I had to buy toilet paper.

Things to discuss:

  • Shopping experience (there's weirdly a lot of styles to choose from)
  • Installation experience
  • User experience
  • Value

u/poopyconnoisseur · 24 pointsr/ibs

Everyone on this subreddit, go on Amazon and get yourselves a bidet! Less than $30 to access that cooling booty relief, it’s also a major toilet paper money saver. This is the one I have, godspeed y’alls’ buttholes.

u/makesyoudownvote · 23 pointsr/TumblrInAction

Nah man. THIS is a relief.

u/NinjaAssassinKitty · 23 pointsr/technology

It's not hard to install a toilet seat bidet! There's lots of simple ones that just have an extension from the pipe that feeds the toilet flush tank

https://www.amazon.ca/Luxe-Bidet-Neo-110-Non-Electric/dp/B009ZLRSJ6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484745371&sr=8-1&keywords=toilet%2Bseat%2Bbidet&th=1

You can also get ones that attach to your hot water from the sink so you get a warm spray.

u/TheDiceToss · 22 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

I haven't gotten quite that desperate yet, but I may eventually try out one of the portable models they have on Amazon: http://amzn.com/B008CSDKSQ.

Edit: To follow-up on your comment about how Americans can live without it, it's mostly a matter of ignorance. Nobody here seems to know that there's a better way. Once someone tries it though, they can rarely ever go back.

u/joshuadhopkins · 22 pointsr/DIY

Thank you! The shower floor, so far has been easy to clean but we've only been using it for 3 weeks. I use a daily shower spray several times a week.

The drain cover pops right out and I use a rubber hair catcher TubShroom, inside the drain, which makes cleaning easy and keeps the unsightly mess of the drain hidden from view.

u/spookyjohnathan · 22 pointsr/TinyHouses

Consider a bidet. I got an inexpensive (~$45) bidet that bolts onto the toilet, never looked back, (heheh, get it?)

u/p0rtIand · 21 pointsr/Portland

Everyone should have a bidet in their home. They're not all that expensive either unless you go with a high end Japanese model. I think I spent $25 on mine which has lasted 5 years so far, and is the best quick fix for summer swamp ass.

Edit: added amazon link to the bidet I have

u/minimalady · 21 pointsr/trashy

Yep. I really hope they catch on -- literally everyone I know who has tried it has loved it.

I've tried wetting toilet paper when I'm traveling, but it's just nowhere near the same. HOLY SHIT I was just typing "maybe I should come up with some sort of travel bidet," and did a quick google.

It is a thing and it may change my life.

u/PrismaCarnage · 21 pointsr/soylent

I got a bidet. Changed my life, no exaggeration. Wipe first for the big stuff, then use bidet fully, then wipe again one time to get the water off. My toilet paper usage is way down, and my butthole is never agitated and sore.

I also take soluble fiber pills to make it be normal coming out. It's no big deal to me like it is to you. Taking 3-6 of them a day is way easier than trying to incorporate some traditional food into my diet. The fact that it's soluble is fine. There is a definite difference in the solidness due to the fiber pills.

Edit: added a link to the bidet I got.

u/lisbethborden · 21 pointsr/explainlikeimfive

OMG, only $35, though I recommend the $48 upgrade if you're a lady.

I'd be weirded out if bidets suddenly exploded, but not if it was in popularity. I have one of these at home and it's awesome...makes me hate traveling though, a few days away from that and you really start to miss it.

u/ice_veins · 21 pointsr/todayilearned

try this bidet feels better than wiping anyway and gets you way more clean plus this model has hot water hookup for those cold mornings

u/Himekat · 21 pointsr/JapanTravel

We bought the Toto C100, but I hear people also like the C200 (which has a couple of more features we didn't care about and a separate remote control that's not built into the console).

u/summiter · 20 pointsr/Ultralight

I bought this and I'm not ashamed. Well, maybe a bit because it's girly light-purple... My reasoning is that it seems like America is the only country really repulsed by the idea, but it solves the cleanliness and any monkeybutt/smell issues, and weighs about the same as a half roll of TP. It's waterproof and reusable, can be sorta crushed, works in any weather (summer or winter), and is a one-time-cost... no resupply.

u/box-of-stars · 20 pointsr/camping

Backcountry bidet, but only for camping where there's no toilets. No TP garbage and cleans your nether regions really well! I have the Brondell GoSpa

u/Abodyfullofmush · 20 pointsr/Marriage

u/brilaxing · 20 pointsr/toastme

You are gorgeous girl! Keep your head up, you can get through this. Dry shampoo can help spruce up your hair besides washing it. I also suffer from eczema. Besides using over the counter hydrocortisone (steroid cream) for breakouts, here's a few things I've done that help me:

Only wash your clothes with scent free detergent. I currently use Arm & Hammer Sensitive skin free and clear. For fabric softener in the wash I use white vinegar. (It does not make your clothes smell and for bonus points it helps clean your washing machine)

For showers, invest in a shower filter. I know it sounds high maintenance but it helps filter out the chlorine in tap water. This results in healthier skin and hair. They sell some that attach to your current showerhead and some that replace your shower head.
Also scent free soaps. Aveeno or dove original works for me.
The last advice is drink more water! Good luck OP, have a wonderful day!

Shower filter link

Showerhead with filter link

Edit: link issue
Edit 2: And lots of moisturizers! Such as Lubriderm, Curel or Cetaphil. Rub it 2-3 times a day head to toe. Once your eczema starts getting better, use it after you shower. As much needed.

I have four of these in my house. No plumbing experience necessary and they hook into the existing toilet supply without getting additional hookups for hot water or electric.

I love these and so do most guests that try them out.

u/ashe3 · 19 pointsr/HomeImprovement

Not entirely necessary before you move in, but installing a bidet is fairly easy, and once you start using it, you will never want to poop anywhere else. I'd recommend something along the lines of this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00A0RHSJO/ref=mp_s_a_1_1

Or, if warm water is something you want, upgrading to the 320 model isn't that much more.

u/prezcat · 19 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

YES. That's why I got a tub shroom. My husband was always so frustrated with my hair monsters on the walls (because I'd always forget to clean them......................) so I got one of these badboys. https://www.amazon.com/TubShroom-Revolutionary-Protector-Catcher-Strainer/dp/B01BYMTYBS?th=1

AND IT WORKS. :D

u/NeoNerd · 18 pointsr/skeptic

The EPA allows chlorine levels up to 4ppm (parts per million) in tap water. However, a normal swimming pool is at around this level. Most water is much lower. As a gas, chlorine becomes detectable at around 3ppm. At 30ppm, people start to cough and possibly vomit. At 60ppm lung damage happens. So unless your mother feels very ill after each shower, there's not a problem.

Even if your family are concerned, you can buy filtering faucets and shower heads for a fraction of the cost asked by this man. They cost around $25 for a shower head and about the same for a filter for a faucet. $10,000 is scam territory.

not that expensive to retrofit.

Personally, I don't like using public drinking fountains because the nozzles are a bacterial dreamland. I imagine the spray heads on a bidet are even worse.

$35 an Amazon for a Luxe Bidet Neo 120. I bought three of these (actually two of the 180s, and one 185), one for each bathroom and couldn't be happier. The higher models offer dual sprayers (one sprays further forward), and different controls. Taps into the clean water line going to the tank so it is super easy to install. I recommend 1000%.

u/Izdabye · 15 pointsr/AskMen

u/Gangreless · 15 pointsr/SuddenlyGay

$60, they have some cheaper models but I highly recommend the one with hot water attachment, it's only $10 or 15 more and so worth it. Also the one like this with the lever water adjust instead of dial, it's better at adjusting pressure.

I have this one in both our toilets:

Seriously...get a Bidet It's a super easy install (you have to be not totally retarded, but it takes like 15 minutes) and you will find that you go from using too much TP to a roll lasting you forever.

It's like the difference between living alone and living with your girlfriend...but all over again. It's amazing, and if you can convince the GF to use the bidet too...you'll reduce your TP usage to only ~12 times what you used when you lived alone instead of 250 times what you used when you lived alone.

Think of it like this...if you got shit all over your hand...would you just wipe it on some dry paper towel and call it a day, or would you wash that shit off? Why are you treating your ass differently?

It's basically a jet of cold water that's aimed at your asshole. I've owned this exact one for just over a year now, and it's legitimately one of the top 10 purchases of my entire life. That's not even an exaggeration. It has a dial that lets you adjust the pressure of the water, so that you don't accidentally give yourself an enema. The nozzle is already angled so that the water hits the right target. Seriously, buy one. It'll change your life.

This $50 thing CHANGED MY LIFE. It is AMAZING. It's a "shitty" conversation to have with your GF. It's like 5 minutes of awkwardness for a lifetime of a clean bottom. No wiping, almost no toilet paper, no remnants, it's faster, it's healthier.

u/rustywarwick · 14 pointsr/sexover30

If this is something you're really concerned about, you could invest in a very affordable bidet seat for your toilet

This will spray and help clean your ass a lot more than using TP. These are very common in Asia and formal bidets are found throughout Europe. Feels good, cleans good!

u/mattintaiwan · 14 pointsr/worldnews

bidets are $35 on amazon, and they attach directly onto your toilet in a roughtly 5-minute installation. No idea what you mean when you're saying "there's no space really". If there's space for your ass-cheeks, there's space for a bidet.

Every time someone brings up bidets on reddit, I always see some sort of disclaimer that could turn people off or confuse people about them (e.g. the water is too cold, they're too expensive, etc.)

The fact of the matter is that they're $35 on Amazon (here's the one I have), incredibly easy to install, shoot out room-temperature water, save you long-term on TP costs, etc. I have no idea why every house doesn't have one these days.

My family had a $20 limit for years. About 15 years ago, my mom got me a used VCR out of the thrift store - left the $17.99 sticker on it so the whole family could see she stayed under the 20 buck limit. That was a huge surprise. It was a luxury I couldn't have afforded on my own (they were selling for $200 back then) and it's still running fine today.

So I guess it depends on your recipient. but maybe you can make that $20 go toward something both long-lasting, and something your giftee really wants. Luxury items are affordable if the stars align.

as far as buying new under the BIFL flag, I'd over-spend by 4 bucks and get this showerhead.

Or pick a book they'd love off amazon. Books are archaic, but make great gifts. espcially the funny, coffee-table variety.

Bidets! I have this one and it is one of my best purchases of all time. Now I hate pooping anywhere but home.

There are other kinds too. When I was visiting Portugal they often had these bidets that were kind of a mix of a toilet and a sink, and I think you were supposed to run the water and wipe off with your hand... I never used it, but eventually the concept won me over.

Get a bidet. They're remarkably inexpensive and save you thousands in tissue paper. If you think "Oh it'll be weird splashing my ass with water, though," think about this... if you got shit anywhere else, would you be comfortable with just wiping it dry? Or would you insist on water and maybe even soap?

u/TheFoxKing5 · 13 pointsr/HomeImprovement

Bingo. If OP has to use it every month it means there’s a major clog and drano is doing nothing more than eating a tiny hole through it to clear it up briefly. There are also some plumbers that believe extensive drano use can damage your pipes long term.

Get a plumber out that can clear it out completely. And get yourself a drain catch like the tub shroom.

I'd let them know it's leaking and ask if they would please replace it. If they do, yay! If they take it away and don't replace it you can buy and install one yourself. No special skills or tools should be required; just follow the instructions. Then you can take it with you when you leave.

u/IGPub · 11 pointsr/BabyBumps

Looks like this one which we have, although the warm water line isn't hooked up. Totally worth it though! This one also has a "female" setting for those gnarly period days. That said, even if you don't get one with warm water hookup (we couldn't hook up the hot line) you'll rarely feel the coldness of the water on your butt hole. Only drawback is feeling like a heathen if you poop anywhere that doesn't have a bidet lmao

I use a different one than you do, and it weighs in at 65 grams. I can either use a sheet or two of TP afterwards to dry off, or simply pull up my merino boxers and let the water disperse into them - they're usually dry within a few minutes.

u/Vulpyne · 9 pointsr/TrueReddit

For those that are interested, there are actually very cheap modifications that you can install on an existing toilet rather than replacing it with an expensive bidet.

About 6 months ago I read an article on reddit about how great there were and got interested, and bought this one on impulse for $35: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001KKRCFA/ (I think there's a newer version in the same price range, so look around a bit before you buy.)

It just uses your normal water supply and the water where I live is from a well so it is ice cold in the winter. It took a little getting used to, but seriously I have to say that I love the thing. I would hate to go back to a normal toilet. It also vastly reduces the amount of tissue paper you use, so from an environmental standpoint that is pretty good.

^(Not exactly sure this is TrueReddit material, but since I have an opinion...)

u/Jelly-chan · 9 pointsr/katawashoujo

No, what i mean is different. There are toilets with a lot of weird functions (like playing music and other obscure stuff) and one of those being spraying or squirting water. But a bidet works too i guess.

The Tub Shroom! It collects hair at the drain of the shower which reduces drain plugs. My fiancée has butt length hair and this thing has been a worth every penny! We have to remove the hair from this thing at least once a week.

If you're doing it that often, consider a device to catch hair before it goes in the drain.

bidet, heated seat, heated water, deodorizer, custom jet strength and temp settings, front and rear spray positions. easy install. works great. no nightlight i guess.

u/Raisinbrannan · 8 pointsr/HighQualityGifs

You gotta get the angle right and then it gets 95%+ of it. A little bit of TP to dry off and clean up any remainder.

The first few times I got water EVERYWHERE, but it's pretty contained now that I know what to do (keep everything low while wiggling around a little to get the right angle and coverage)

This is the one I got. No fancy features and I thought I'd HATE the cold, but I don't mind it at all. Having a clean feature might be nice, but so far haven't seen a need for it.

u/gmick · 8 pointsr/funny

We've bought two for our house and three for relatives as well as talking a friend into buying one. If you can just get people to try them, there's no contest. This is the one we've been buying. It's cheap, easy to install, and effective. If you need some ammo for convincing people:

This post inspired me to buy one. This baby comes in on Friday. Viva la revolución.

u/Pyrallis · 8 pointsr/Frugal

Your solution lies not in which consumables to buy, but rather in reducing your requirement for them. In the case of toilet paper, install a modular bidet system on your toilet. After you've relieved yourself, activate the water spray. After that, the job of toilet paper is to dry your already-clean arse. The bidet will pay for itself in terms of reduced consumption of toilet paper. Mine has paid for itself many times over.

I was inspired to try it after reading about it in these posts:

Also bidet attachments that you can put on top of your toilet.

Yes! Total game changer. I have this one and it has served me well for 2 years! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003TPGPUW/

I would seriously use like half a roll of toilet paper before I got a bidet. Ridiculous. Sometimes I find that once I spray off my butt it paves the way for more to come out which I think was my problem. 😂

I also have a squatty potty because I take pooping very seriously. 💩

u/Schroedingers_Cat · 8 pointsr/mildlyinfuriating

I use TP as a test to see if I got it all, but it's very rare that I don't. Maybe it just depends on the bidet. I use this cheap-ass attachment for 30 bucks. Works like a charm. Nowadays it takes me over a month to go through a roll of paper.

u/SloveneQueen · 8 pointsr/SpiteChickens

Of course! There are a view inexpensive and promising ones. I chose this . Not exactly dirt cheap, but cheap compared to its similarly highly-rated competitors. There are cheaper ones out there.

Honestly people still just don't know what a modern bidet is, they still think its a separate unit entirely like the little sink

I try to explain to people that its $40 on amazon, installs in minutes with no tools, and lives right under your toilet seat. It makes you shower fresh after every poop and you end up saving money over time with the reduced TP/Wet Wipe consumption. It's completely hands free.

I evangelize about bidets like a 1920s automobile owner talking to his horse & buggy neighbor. Ya'll in the past doing it wrong.

What other mess do you NOT bring water into play to clean up?? Especially shit? You can wipe for days but you're never as clean as a constant adjustable stream of water can get you.

u/LurkerGhost · 7 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

I bought this bidet for my mom and soon bought it for myself after it was mom approved. (She was my beta tester.)

It's awesome, I used to go through a whole roll of toilet paper and have to buy the big ass pack of toilet paper from Costco like once every one or two months. Now it takes me forever to even go through one roll.

It has a function for men and women, and if you have hot water attachment, you can buy the upgraded model which has the hoses and stuff for it too.

Bidet is the way to go! A few years ago this one was recommended somewhere on reddit, I bought it and love it (as a mom to a crohnie).

I have an older Consumer Reports on toilet tissue, I don't like Scott 1000 or Angel Soft (or Costco's version of it). I settled on Target's Premium Ultra Soft (or Ultra Strong, I couldn't really tell a difference) that was listed on my report as in the top 5 for dissolving/fewer clogs.

Finally, we also updated our (25 year old) toilets to American Standard Cadet 3 FloWise Tall Height 2-Piece 1.28 GPF Single Flush and haven't had a single clog yet in three years.

u/Scrybatog · 7 pointsr/lifehacks

Wash your face every night before you go to bed with a facial cleanser. Or morning if you work night shifts.

Use moisturizer. Also use beard oil if you have a beard. Yeah, the rugged look is sexy, but dry hands and face are not.

Silk pillowcases are better than cotton for your skin and hair.

Wash your bedding items at least monthly. And if you wear hats a lot, wash them too.

You can use the skin treatments in the makeup aisle (anti-wrinkle cream, creams that reduce under eye bags and darkness, etc). It;s better to start using them when your younger and the wrinkles haven't formed than waiting until you look like Farnsworth.

Brush your teeth.

Drink lots of water.

Cut down on junk food being overweight, smoking, and excess drinking. Not only are they bad for your health, but they age you like crazy.

Use sunscreen!

Workout.

Exfoliate your body and use body wash.

Take care of your hands and nails. Keep them trimmed, cleaned underneath the nails, and use moisturizer. Same with your feet. You can even buy something like the Amope or a pumice stone for dry heels and calluses on feet.

I like a guy with a natural forest, but if you want to shave your pubes:

  • Trim the hair first. You use a trimmer or scissors and a comb (comb opposite growth direction of hair to make it stick up so it's easier to cut), Be careful. You want to be able to see what you're doing, not go to the hospital to stitch up a cut next to your dick.

  • Take a hot shower and exfoliate the area. The hot shower is to help soften the hair and exfoliating is to remove any dead skin cells and make the hair stick up, resulting in a closer shave.

  • Use shaving cream. Yes, you can use the women's shaving cream. You can also use shave gel or even conditioner if you want. I've found the cheap V05 brand that's like $.75 at my Kroger works just as well at the expensive shaving creams.

  • Use a sharp, new razor. A lubrication strip is good and the women's will work just as well as the mens so get those if they're cheaper.

  • Stretch your skin as you go. If you've ever seen that clip of the show The Drs where the woman complains about how men just always cut their faces during shaving and the cosmetic guy makes her shave a cucumber and a melon to compare shaving a a woman's leg to a man's face, you'll know that its easier to shave flat surfaces instead of lumpy, loose, or curved ones. So use one hand to stretch the area flat and the other to shave. Which way? Whichever you want. Against the grain for a much closer shave. With the grain for less chance of irritation and ingrown hairs. Hell, go left to right if you want. Have fun with it. Make a cool design like a figure 8, a triforce, or a checkerboard.

  • If you want to shave your buttcrack, I find it's easiest to squat down and grab one cheek and pull it towards the side. Shave that side then switch. I use an epilator though, so try and see whatever position is easiest for you.

  • Afterwards, gently exfoliate. Rinse off and dry. If you want, you can apply a post shaving cream, found usually by the women's shaving cream and the brand Wal-Mart carries is Bikini Zone, to reduce irritation and any redness.

Oh yeah, if you do that in the shower, it's a good idea to have one of these. It'll be easier to clean up after yourself and you won't clog the drains. If you have a anyone with long hair in your house or using your shower, you should already have one in every shower they have access to.
u/MoozeMemeMaster · 7 pointsr/malehairadvice

Visit a doctor or research for yourself, but basically:

Change up lifestyle (diet, working out)

Try rogaine,* minoxidill or other supps

If it doesn't work = buzzcut, grow beard get buff.

Try a hair catcher in the shower to monitor what works what doesn't.

u/tinyyawns · 7 pointsr/loseit

This. You don’t need to talk to your landlord about it at all. It’s not the same as painting or putting holes in the wall, which are permanent changes the landlord has to fix after you leave. Those bidet attachments are easily installed and removable, so the landlord will never know.

Also, ditch the restaurant plan. Unless you are backed by investors, own a patent to bidet, and include installation, no one is going to take you seriously. A much cheaper and more convenient option would be to get a travel bidet bottle like this one from Amazon. You can take it with you wherever you go.

Also, an all liquid diet will still make you poop but it will be diarrhea unless you find a way to get sufficient fiber. Unfortunately I am speaking from experience! So ditch that plan as well.

u/fingers-in-ears · 7 pointsr/Healthyhooha

I would ditch the wet wipes altogether. Even if they are unscented, they still contain detergents and other things that might be upsetting your skin. (For example, this is how I found out I am allergic to aloe vera.) Start using a bidet to clean your backside instead. If you don’t want to install a bidet onto your toilet, get a travel bidet. Cheap and easy to use.

u/kmc_v3 · 6 pointsr/preppers

I have one of these. It's a lifesaver for camping. You could most likely use non-potable water without ill effect.

Other options include scrap paper and reusable rags (boil them).

u/yourmotha · 6 pointsr/AskReddit

Along the same line, a watering pail (like what you use to water plants). Pour it down your crack for a cheap bidet effect

Edit: These are the cheapest I could find.

u/abigaelb4 · 6 pointsr/BabyBumps

This is the one I have. You can buy one that has a hook up for hot water as well but my tap water isn't cold for whatever reason so it doesn't bother me to just have a cold water line. It uses the water that would eventually run to the tank. It's basically like using the water from your sink line--I know a lot of people think that its uses "toilet bowl" water but it doesn't. It's really easy to install. I actually have reinstalled it on a different toilet in my house and it worked on both. You do have to buy little spacers to attach to the bottom of your toilet seat since the bidet attachment makes the back of the seat sit a bit higher than the front. Again, they're really easy to install/uninstall. Definitely get the ones that screw on so they don't fall off one day into the toilet.

To use you just stay seated and SLOWLY turn on the knob. The one I have linked has SUPER HIGH water pressure but maybe there are models that aren't so strong. Do NOT turn it on while you're standing in front of it "just to make sure it works". I shot myself in the chest the first time I tested it hahahaha. Lots of guests also get curious and turn it on while standing in front of the toilet instead of sitting and end up getting shot in the chest or face. It's hilarious. My father in law for shot in the forehead with the water!

All in all its a 45$ investment if you use the same set up I did--definitely worth the money and if you can always upgrade to a different model if you end up liking it!

There are handheld type options that look like a shower head but they require maneuvering on the toilet and seem like more trouble than just staying seated.

I tried moist wipes for a while but a lot of them have alcohol in them and seemed to dry out more than they helped.

Sorry for the long winded response, hope it was helpful!

Toilet paper? What's that?

I've had a constantly immaculate butthole without a hint of soreness for nearly 2 years, ever since I got my bidet (the linked one just happens to be the one I got, but there are countless others in that price range on Amazon).

Seriously, even during a flare when I'm shitting 10-15 times a day, my butt feels pretty damn good in between all the crimson and mocha explosions.

Sorta lied; I actually still use paper, but only to pat my butt dry after washing it with the bidet. I use the Cottonelle aloe/Vitamin E infused stuff and I go through about one roll every two weeks when I'm not flaring.

u/jibbyjam1 · 6 pointsr/technology

Just get a bidet add-on, like this. Baby wipes are nice, but they're a lot more expensive than regular toilet paper, and the bidet is something you'll only pay for once. Also, I like knowing that my asshole is clean enough to eat off of. Just take my word for it.

u/DrewFlan · 6 pointsr/AskMen

Get a bidet attachment instead. It will quickly pay for itself in saved toilet paper and be much more forgiving to your septic tank.

u/natlight · 6 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I have the Astor 1000 and it works great. Just a simple attachment to your toilet seat. Comes with a stainless steel braided line too. No heaters or other bells and whistles to break, just a plain and simple adjustable spray. Careful, the high setting will make you jump a few feet in the air. The heaters are not needed, you don't really feel the cold down there. I got mine on amazon for about $20. I will never go back to paper. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003TPGPUW/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_mob DTH

a few months back, i installed a bidet, this model, on my shitter at home.

it's a little hard to "aim" at first, but i can't tell you how much i recommend this over regular old tp/butt wipes. i never realized how nice it was having a confidently clean butthole.

u/iheartmyname · 6 pointsr/shittingadvice

I recently made two purchases which have rocked my shitting world. The first is the Squatty Potty - crappy name, good idea. It changes your pooping posture to one more like squatting, which means less pushing, less hemorrhoids and less wiping. After hearing about this, I tried for a while just putting my feet on the trash can and other things, but it's way easier and more comfortable to just get the stool (in my opinion). EDIT: Read closer and see that you're already squatting, but I still recommend the stool if you don't have one.

Second, I got a bidet attachment for my toilet. There are MANY to choose from, but I got the lowest priced one on Amazon and have been very pleased. This is a simple device that just provides a stream of cool water to your bum to spray off the poo. Then you use a bit of toilet paper or cloth (your bum is clean, so no poo stains to wash off) to just dry off.

Between the two, I barely use toilet paper anymore, and I also used to need to use quite a lot to clean up. The downside to these purchases is that I'm now completely spoiled at home and miss them deeply when I travel.

u/strobonic · 6 pointsr/keto

I got a squatty potty several weeks ago but TBH haven't found it to make a difference for me. I just have weird bowels I guess.

Installed a bidet attachment today, though. Total pain in the ass (heh) to install, since the toilet is right up against the vanity in my bathroom. No room to get in there, every goddamn nut was seized up, and then somehow I managed to break the fill valve in the toilet. When I turned the water back on, the cap on the fill valve shot off like a fucking rocket and I had a geyser of water hit me directly in the face. My husband ran out to get us a new fill valve while I wept. When he got back with it, I disassembled everything, put the new fill valve in, and then it all went in easy breezy and the bidet shoots water directly at my asshole with laser precision.

Many of them hook into the cold/hot water pipe from your sink. So if the toilet is next to the sink in the bathroom, you install a T and that's where it gets the water.

Some are cold water only, some take both and mix it. Most come with a "clean" function, for cleaning the nozzle. If you do that first while you're sitting there, it'll bring that warm water into the bidet so you don't get blasted with ice cold water.

https://www.amazon.com/Luxe-Bidet-Neo-320-Non-Electric/dp/B00A0RX2UI/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1551198995&sr=8-8&keywords=bidet

You could just get one that has both hot and cold water. The only difference is that the hot water is tee'd off the sink's hot water line. The hot and cold models usually comes with all the hardware you need (extra long tube to reach the faucet and a tee for typical faucet connections).

\^The one I have at home. Easy installation, simple concept, no buttons, just a push handle. Works great.

u/Busch_League2 · 5 pointsr/HomeImprovement

One negative that nobody ever mentions so I’m thinking it might just be the one I bought is that unless I sit just right it sprays the back of my nuts. There’s no way to adjust the angle so I have to deal with a little more cleanup than a quick bhole patdown about 50% of the time. Other than that it’s a big plus to my bowel movements.

I bought a cheap attachment one:

Not at all! This one from Amazon.

The one complaint I've seen from people is that it can decrease your water pressure - I personally only have a very small decrease when the filter is getting old (3 months or so), but we have strong pressure to begin with.

u/AskMrScience · 5 pointsr/mildlyinfuriating

I own this Delta showerhead and love it to death. It saves on my water bill while simultaneously giving me a more powerful rinse than I had before AND delivering hot water sooner and more consistently than the others I've tried.

Edit: No seriously, there's some actual science in this $25 showerhead. Check it out.

I had a bidet growing up and up until 2 years ago when I moved out. I had this baby ordered and installed before the 1st week of living on my own was over. It's such a clean asslife I live and pretty sweet on the wallet.

No. You stop wiping once you reach your taint.

Also, when you start using wet wipes instead of only dry toilet paper to wipe your ass is the day you start to get cleaner.

I've actually been convinced by the experience of Redditors in another thread here to go with the $40 bidet installed on my toilet. It gets here in a few days, and I think my days of dry wiping will be over then.

u/costanza_vandelay · 5 pointsr/IBD

This is a great thread for discussion. If I may add...

  1. Even better than a peri-bottle is a washlet. Basically an add-on bidet for a standard toilet. If you can get one that has HOT and COLD water, you will LOVE cleaning your bum with warm water. It chips away at pain quickly and dries without TP in a few minutes. Here is one on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Astor-Non-Electric-Mechanical-Toilet-Attachment/dp/B003TPGPUW/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1394858584&sr=8-8&keywords=washlet

  2. If you've got cash to spare, or if you want convenience while not at home, Toto sells a portable washlet that I've been tempted to buy. The description is misleading since you have to put warm water into it beforehand. http://www.amazon.com/Toto-HW300-W-Portable-Travel-Washlet/dp/B008O1G4LQ

I wonder if you could prevent it from getting quite as wet by adjusting the angle the shower sprays. We did a quick fix to our shower to make it more of a "rain shower" by adding an extension arm: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0064TYE9Y?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title

The water now splashes totally differently in our whole shower. Since it's strait down, the walls do not get nearly as wet. I didn't anticipate how big the change would be.

First, congratulations!

My suggestion is to take good care of your fiancee... since that's what you want them to think you're doing, after all ;-)

Did your father-in-law already buy a bidet?? If not, Amazon US actually sells cheap basic bidets/spray toilet seats that you could install, if you really wanted to go above and beyond. Really, though, a bidet is the answer you seek... your in-laws will feel comfortable, and happy to know you cared enough to go out of your way since bidets aren't so common in the U.S.

Having slippers, chopsticks, and bottled beverages (non-sweetened) available for them would also be a nice gesture. Not everyone uses them, but for some it's a real comfort to have them around.

u/vale_fallacia · 5 pointsr/tifu

As someone who takes narcotics for pain, may I recommend Miralax? It dissolves in coffee easily and helps keep the constipation to a minimum.

Softer poop will be much easier to pass, talk to the docs about how much Miralax you need.

(I'm not a medical professional, please talk to an expert before taking new drugs!)

You're also going to need a bidet attachment for your toilet. That will help clean your butt without lots of painful wiping. I recommend this one, it's easy to install and use: "Luxe Bidet Neo 120 - Self Cleaning Nozzle - Fresh Water Non-Electric Mechanical Bidet Toilet Attachment (blue and white)" https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00A0RHSJO/

You can get them to retro-fit on nearly any toilet. I got this one for about $45CDN just because of all the bidet talk here on reddit. I figured for the price it wasn't much of a gamble.

I can't express how much I love the thing. It is so far superior to toilet paper and you will have no idea until you try it.

I spent this weekend away from home and had to actually wipe my own ass for the first time in months. It was awful. Ate something that didn't agree with me so I was using the toilet more than usual too. Couldn't wait to get home.

u/romanomnom · 5 pointsr/AskDocs

Just to clarify a few things here. While internal hemorrhoids can bleed, they typically are not painful. The nerve endings are actually there to sense fullness in your rectum for you to defecate - not for sensing pain.

The pain you're having is most likely the same external hemorrhoid, or a new one that's popped up. Have you tried looking for it, or do you feel it when you go to wipe? You can of course have both internal and external hemorrhoids at the same time. The color of the blood is difficult to gauge if you're trying to google your symptoms, since it can vary with the color and substance of your stool.

How long have you been dealing with them (from the very first flareup)? While having a soft stool is ideal, you also don't want to switch to a pure fiber only diet (can actually make the stool harder w/o water), and you also don't want to irritate the bowels causing you to have to strain excessively.

Best recommendation is this:

  1. Begin taking stool softener everyday. They typically come in the 100 mg/capsule. Take two a day with a meal. Remember this is the Docusate Sodium. Not a laxative like magnesium or bisacodyl. If you're confused, just ask your pharmacist. Can be generic CVS/Walgreen brand.

  2. Start taking a daily probiotic. Also can be generic.

  3. Be mindful of your diet. There are certain foods/drinks that can irritate or cause flareups. Alcohol for example can cause constipation, while coffee can overstimulate the bowels leading to excess strain. Have things like this in moderation. Always stay hydrated. Remember, increasing your fiber isn't enough. If you don't get enough, start having some fiber gummies a day. But, also make sure to supplement your diet with water! Water helps create soft stools. This is important for the passage.

  4. For immediate relief, you'll likely need to start the Preparation H suppositories. Unfortunately, the ointment will not be enough and will not penetrate the irritated vessels. The suppositories typically bring relief within a few days. Go ahead and use the topical ointment to coat the outer layer of the suppository to help aid in the insertion.

  5. After a BM, and cleaning yourself off with toilet paper, use either Preparation H wipes or Tucks wipes. They both have Witch Hazel which is extremely effective at calming irritated hemorrhoids.

  6. If you can afford it, I'd recommend the following two items. One of the Luxe Bidet's from Amazon. Not only does it keep you cleaner and you use less toilet paper, the water is excellent for relief during flareups. Toilet paper can be abrasive and even touching the prolapsed hemorrhoid can cause pain. This is extremely affective, and I encourage anyone and everyone to make the switch. Super easy to install and work amazing. We have one in every bathroom of our home. The second thing is a Squatty Potty. I see they've upped the price. These were only $25 at one point, which is more reasonable for what they are. You could get away with purchasing your own stool for less if you look around. Essentially, elevating your feet allows your bowel to flow better, preventing access strain on the hemorrhoids.

  7. Lastly, I recommend to avoid working out until these go away. Once they're gone, resume exercise. Exercising will promote proper blood flow and encourage healthy BM's.

Hope this helps - and by all means, if you don't find relief within a week, please go see a doctor. While it may seem embarrassing to you, it can be a more serious issue that requires medical intervention. Feel better!

There's actually a relatively inexpensive bidet toilet attachment if you're interested. I don't have one but they seem to have great reviews.

u/AspieGram · 5 pointsr/bidets

We recently installed the Luxe Bidet Neo 185 Elite Series ($43) and I prefer it over my hugely expensive BioBidet DIB.

The standard round seat that was on the toilet when we bought the house was angled after it was installed, but the seat bumpers arrived the next day and now it sits level and we have no problems.

As far as operation, I really like it a lot. I chose this model because the DIB sprayer is REALLY far back. I have to use the feminine just to wash the backside. The "normal" backside was hits in the crack of the butt and is useless.
The Luxe hits right where it's supposed to. Now, there are two washes: feminine and "normal." Because of the design the two jets are side by side which results in the sprayer being the tiniest bit off center. So one wash will spray your parts a bit to the right and the other one will spray a bit to the left. It's only the tiniest bit, but since you mentioned angles, I thought I would let you know.

We have REALLY high water pressure where we live so we purchased a Luxe Metal T-adapter with Shut-off Valve to reduce the water pressure. That allows us to move the dial about 1/8" for adjustment instead of about 1/32"

The feminine sprayer does go forward all the way and hits ever feminine spot there is. If one doesn't close their legs, a stream of water will shoot out and hit the wall across the room. :/

We have no leaks, the seat no longer sits at an angle and I love it!

Please feel free to ask any specific questions if I missed anything.

u/GoAskAlice · 5 pointsr/fatpeoplestories

Hey, girl. I have colitis too (ischemic). I hear you on the bathroom thing. Boy, do I ever.

Might want to get yourself one of these. They're easy to install, all you need is an adjustable wrench and a flat head screwdriver. Even if you're not particularly handy, this is seriously easy. And worth it, holy cow, SO WORTH IT.

The first time you try it will be a shock because the water's not warmed up at all, but you get used to it, and after a flare-up, that cold water is a blessing. Very soothing. Stops me from shaking after I explode and am draped there, wrung out and weak.

I obviously didn't install it (as mentioned in a previous comment), but even though my father complained it didn't take him long and I remember him saying it wasn't that difficult. With that being said if you don't know anything about plumbing like me you should probably ask someone who does for help lest you end up flooding your bathroom or breaking your toilet.

u/Fistulotomy · 4 pointsr/CrohnsDisease

I had 3 fistulas: 1 low, 2 high. They did a fistulotomyb the low one and put draining setons in the 2 high ones. That was 5 months ago.

I bathe twice per day, each time for minimum 30 minutes but often for 90-120 minutes per bath. I read books, check reddit on my phone, watch videos, etc. I'm trying to jerry-rig some setup where I'd feel secure having my laptop in there so I could work during the day. It's hard to overstate how good a hot soak feels.

I also have a bidet on my toilet and a travel bidet which I take with me whenever I'm not home. I use panty liners to deal with drainage and change those 3-4 times per day.

I'm so grateful to have flexibility with my job where I can work from home on days I don't feel well. This experience would be much worse if I had limitations on my hygiene.

Other than the fistulas and 5-6 watery bowel movements per day I'm not overly symptomatic (subject to diet) so I'm grateful for that.

Started remicade and methotrexate a month ago. GI & colorectal surgeon want to give it 9-12 months and see if the fistulas are closing up.

And on a similar note, a bidet attachment for your toilet. They're like $40 and super easy to install. (Don't bother with a hot water one, it really doesn't matter). I have this one. Seriously game-changing.

u/abishop711 · 4 pointsr/BabyBumps

We have a detachable shower hose thingie! It was only about $20 on amazon (but make sure to buy some plumbers' tape too so you don't get leaks right where it screws on).

Super easy to install! Unscrew old shower head, wrap plumber tape around the threads a bunch of times. Screw new shower head on. Turn on water to check for leaks. If it leaks, then turn it off and unscrew and put more plumber tape on. Once it doesn't leak anymore, you're done!

Then you can just grab the shower head off the hook and rinse your lady bits nice and clean!

Edit: this one. It's $25 now. It can do both shower heads at once, but we usually keep it set to the upper hose one only to keep the water pressure higher. You'll have much lower water pressure if you use both heads at the same time.

u/1cyberdude · 4 pointsr/sexover30

Maybe the easiest thing to do is take control over it (Buy lube - seriously.. buy it). You know you're interested in it so why not prep before hand - clean yourself in the shower, climb into bed, hand him your newly purchased bottle of lube and suggest some back door action. Instead of worrying about how to take 8-inches though, start with a finger and gradually build up to it just to see how you and your body likes it. It should give you a better idea of how your IBS will handle it and it'll be slow enough that you can slowly introduce bigger things into the mix if you desire as you go along. Keep it casual and fun. You're playing in the backdoor - at some point you're going to see stuff but it shouldn't be a mood killer, what did you expect :)

On a side note - IBS or not, if you're worried about cleanliness, you can always install a bidet toilet attachment. I installed 2 of them in my house now and I swear by them. Not messy at all.

I really wouldn't recommend him going in without ever working smaller things in the mix. I'm his size and if i were to try that in the very beginning my gf's would never want to try it again.

u/iplaywithbugs · 4 pointsr/HaircareScience

If you think it might be your water, you can go here and request a hard water test strip. Many people in /r/skincareaddiction find that an in-shower filter really helps their skin and hair, like this one.

But the ingredients in your shampoo and conditioner look no bueno to me. In your shampoo there's a few silicones (which are probably causing build up) and some other questionable stuff. Casual internet browsing shows that the 1st ingredient in your conditioner is water, and the 2nd is behentrimonium chloride, which according to wikipedia is "is an irritating, toxic (to aquatic organisms), and slightly flammable yellow waxlike organic compound." I'm sure its not that bad (I'm not being sarcastic! It's probably not that bad), but there has to be better ingredients out there. Not to mention more dimethicone (6th ingredient), while the argon oil is #10, right after parfum. Awesome. So I'd switch that one out, too.

The silicones in both are probably building up in your hair making it what it is. Not all silicones are bad, but they need to be washed away now and again. I'd look in the side bar and what not to find a nice clarifying shampoo to wash out the build up, and get a good regular shampoo and conditioner.

u/petersen1998 · 4 pointsr/milliondollarextreme

Going paperless is still in fashion in parts of Asia. But for me, a guy born & raised in America, it was a leap of faith about a year ago when I installed a bidet under the toilet seat and no amount of Internet videos & articles could truly prepare me for that first blast. But here I am, almost a year later and I'd never go back. Benefits I've noticed include:

  • Hemorrhoid Relief: Because my work keeps me mostly in a chair at a desk, I used to have some terrible pain down there. Really, really terrible. We're bloody stools that looked like a Nightmare on Elm Street special toilet edition. They took a few months to go away, but today I have no problems unless there is an extremely hard stool.

  • Spicy Foods, bring it on! It used to be a real pain about 12 hours after I ate hot spicy foods. Now I wash away the heat from down beneath.

  • Cleaned to Pristine: Toilet paper will always leave poop residue on your bunghole. Wipe all you like, it's still there. With water, I'm 100% clean every time.

  • Great cool down after heavy exercise: On a hot summers day when you go out and run or lift or whatever, a great way to catch your breath and cool down is to sit on a cold bidet and let it take your breath away. Yeah, this one's a little weird but it truly is a great cool down.

  • Diarrhea Be Dammed: On those rare occasions when I'm sick with the flu, hourly bowel movements used to really irritate the backside because of all the wiping. With my bidet I said goodbye to chapped anus.

  • Go Deep: For the brave, you can actually center the stream and go for a minor colon flush.

  • The Humor: The face my 5 year old son made the first time he decided to play with the lever while sitting on my toilet will forever be burned into my sense of humor. I never would have known just how BIG his eyes can get. Absolutely priceless.

  • $Money$: Every dollar you're not spending on toilet tissue is a dollar you can spend towards sitting on a beach with the beverage of your choice.

  • Never running out of the Important Papers. (self explanatory, you KNOW what I'm talking about)

  • Environmentally Friendlier: Toilet paper actually is bad for the environment. The process to make it requires massive amounts of water and chemicals. I don't think anyone is clear cutting rain forests to make toilet tissue, but it does take trees and electric energy. After the fact, toilet tissue has to be broken down at the sewage plant and a portion of it ends up as a gray matter that ends up in landfills (take a tour of your local sewage plant to see what I mean).

I have found that it's healthier, cleaner and more environmental to give up toilet tissue. I've often wondered how much of an impact it would if everyone on Earth made the switch.

    The Bad:
While there are portable 'squeeze water bottle' bidets available, I find them impractical to carry with me. So on the rare occasions I'm not 'making the morning deposit' at home and I have no choice but to paper wipe, it irritates because I'm not used to it.

    How it works:
A device connects under your toilet seat with a small water sprayer that showers your 'down there'. A water supply line connects under the toilet's water tank using a T adapter. It's actually a pretty simple DIY project to install, but make darned sure you have all the plumbing supplies you need before you start if this is your only toilet. There are heated models available. My largest fear at the beginning was the cold water part. Heated models require wiring and are much more expensive. I decided to try the cold model first and see how it went. Glad I did, I'd never want to use heated water now. The first couple goes were a bit chilly, but it got easier every time.

I bought one of these a couple of years ago. Easy to install, no complaints. I don't know about anybody else but I -do- use a little TP to both doublecheck that the job is done and to dry my bits off. Overall, a roll can last me (single male) a month.

u/OverallPython · 3 pointsr/fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

Just installed this bad boy today. Super easy, took about 20 minutes.

I had pretty much the same reaction, with one minor difference. I had a brief, high-pitched scream at the beginning (described by my neighbor as "hyena-like"). That was followed by a mad scramble for the spray control knob, then another few seconds of unsticking my now wet shirt from my back while I repositioned for round 2. From that point on, though... exactly like yours.

Pro tip: it doesn't matter how tough you think you are, do not start off on the highest setting. You need to work your way up to that shit.

My shower tips (mostly include ways to avoid showering)

  1. Use a portable bidet- you can fill it with warm water and soap and spray yourself over the toilet. Saves on toilet paper (you can still use some to dry off) , leaves you feeling fresh.
    Canada: https://www.amazon.ca/Brondell-GS-70-GoSpa-Travel-Bidet/dp/B008CSDKSQ/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=portable+bidet&qid=1564670246&s=gateway&sr=8-5

  2. Scrub at the sink with a facecloth and soap. Sit on the floor or toilet if you like, and scrub yourself with the soapy facecloth. Then with a non-soapy one. Dry off.

  3. Cut your hair short, or give yourself an undercut, or both. Then wash your hair at the sink. Dries quick!

  4. In the shower- sit down. I sit on the floor of the shower, you could also get a shower stool. Don't use hot water if you are heat intolerant (or blast yourself with some cooler water every so often) Bring a cup of cool water with you to drink.

  5. Have a floor towel. I lay one on the floor before I get in. When I get out I just lay on the towel and pull another one over top of me. I can rest there until I can move properly.
u/leadbread · 3 pointsr/college

I don't live in a dorm, but I use this when traveling

u/iheartbrainz · 3 pointsr/BabyBumps

u/CarlaWasThePromQueen · 3 pointsr/keto

Portable bidet.

This one

And This one

The first one I find has a bit more pressure, but both get the job done. The first one is more portable obviously. All I have to do is get my hands on a 20oz bottle. I've literally cleaned my bum with straight Dasani water (cause we all know it's not worth drinking).

Hello, sorry to hijack your comment but I have a question for you as someone who works in a hotel if you don't mind. I will be staying in a hotel for 4 months (paid by my employer) while I finish the job training. I use a toilet bidet like This one in my house, and I honestly feel like I can't live without it. Would something like this be allowed in my hotel room? There is no plumbing that needs to be done, the bidet connects directly to the toilet pipe and it's very easy to install. Again sorry for the off topic question but I really don't know where to ask this.

I've been looking at this one from amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006VVN1S/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_ap_am_us?ie=UTF8 It has great reviews and is much more reasonably priced.

So long as that's a standard faucet size (and I can't imagine why it wouldn't be, even though it all looks a bit odd because it's unfinished), swapping a showerhead is about the simplest diy in the world.

This showerhead is dirt cheap and gets great reviews: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LV7W4K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Hoe8ybFX6DG57

We have one and it's great for the price.

You'll need a pair of pliers and some thread sealing (plumber's) tape. But pretty sure the Delta comes with some.

Easy peazy.

u/justPassingThrou15 · 3 pointsr/mentalhealth

If someone needs extra motivation to take a shower regularly, I can recommend a shower head that really improved my experience of showering. It's meant for showers with low water pressure, and it makes some very powerful jets that shoot the water out at a pretty high speed, but in a fairly broad spread, in small drops instead of in streams. It feels great. Just let the water get warm before you get in- the spread-out jets bring a lot of air with them, and if the water's not fully warm yet, it'll be extra cold, as it brings its own breeze.

Not sure if there's a way you can gift him a gift certificate to a local gym for a day pass or spa that has a sauna? My dads side of the family was Finnish and whenever we'd go visit we'd always take saunas together as a family. Part of that tradition was reading the "Finnish sauna rules" which I think were half joking, half real. Anyway here's a sign that he could maybe hang in his bathroom? Not sure if it's framed, so could get it framed and shipped. Timing may be trickier though..

Okay and this is a really weird gift and a little personal, but again popular with my dad (man with the Finnish blood who's in his mid-60s) and pretty much my whole family has one now. An attachable bidet for an existing toilet. It could honestly make his quality of life a little better. Installation is pretty simple too.

Also you could get him an immersion blender. Easy way to purée soups, smoothies, etc. and they're generally only $30.

Then there's this that could play into his mad scientist side. Again another popular gift that my Dad was into.

Hope this helps and you all have a great Christmas. So nice to hear that you're taking care of your father and keep in touch with him. I'm sure it means a lot to him.

Just be straightforward and honest after finding a calm, neutral time to bring it up.

I'm a big fan of coming pre-loaded with solutions whenever I confront a problem (at least to get the ball rolling), so maybe you could buy some flushable wipes (like baby wipes but not for babies) ahead of time and set them on the back of the toilet/otherwise nearby. Love those things.

Or try out a bidet toilet seat attachment...wistful sigh

u/FirstPlayer · 3 pointsr/DoesAnybodyElse

I pretty much went to the Amazon top-rated ones in the category; I got this one first and it's great, then when we built another bathroom next to my bedroom I bought one of these because I was curious about the warm water (it's nice, but it was a bit more difficult to install and takes time to warm up anyway). Both of them were a lot cheaper when I bought them 3-4 years ago; it looks like the top-rated one right now is this; I can't personally speak about it but the ratings are good. :)

Also I forgot to mention in my first post: toilet paper lasts basically forever. Using four to six squares just to dry off it takes me over three months to use a single roll.

the nozzle isnt in the water, it connects to your water line not the bowl water. and every bidet ive used/ seen has the auto retracting nozzle so its never exposed unless its on. best 25 bucks you could ever spend right here

They aren't motorized, they use the pressure from the water pipe to shoot the water at your poop hole. I have one similar to that and it works fine. The heated ones seem nicer, but cold water won't hurt you and it'll wake you up in the morning.

u/Landotavius · 3 pointsr/SeattleWA

Since colorectal cancer is on the rise, and earlier in today's sub someone mentioned bidet attachments for their toilet -- I think we should take a moment to appreciate this review of the top selling bidet attachment on Amazon:

>Speaking as a hirsute gentleman, the Luxe Bidet Neo 120 has soured me on pooping in bidet-less toilets forever. It's shown me the difference between rubbing peanut butter out of shag carpeting with a paper towel, and that sparkling clean feeling you get right when you step out of the shower.

>The unit took me all of about 10 minutes to install on my existing toilet with only a wrench. The easy-to-control flow valve allows you to provide just the right amount of water pressure for a full range of cleaning, from "gentle trickling stream" to "full-on 'Silkwood' decontamination", ensuring the end of your bowel movement leaves you feeling cleaner and more refreshed than using just toilet paper alone. Even flush-able wet wipes pale in comparison.

I hope to report back on the state of my rectal health shortly after a few weeks of use. Hemorrhoids be damned!

u/duckstewie · 3 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

A bidet will change your life.

u/PUBGGG · 3 pointsr/TooAfraidToAsk

get a bidet. will change your life. Used to take me maybe 25 wipes (and I would always put water on my toilet paper to clean better). Now it takes me about 6-7. Imagine getting shit on your arm, would you simply wipe it with tp 25 times and call it good? No, you would rinse that shit off first with water, wipe some more. So why is your ass any different? It isn't. Get a bidet. You will use less TP and thus have a less chafed asshole, no more itchy asshole if you ever had that issue.

u/Xenomac · 3 pointsr/Frugal

Here is the item that I bought. It's REALLY simple to install and it should take no longer than 5-10 minutes.

What does it do? Pretty much when you are done pooping it shoots water on your asshole completely cleaning your asshole out. And when I mean on your asshole I MEAN RIGHT THERE, ON YOUR ASSHOLE. Note: If you have hemorrhoids it's best to get that fixed first before using the bidet.

How does it do it? (I'm bad at explaining things.) There's a diverter tube that get connected to the tube that flows into your toilet, that attaches to the bidet. It uses water pressure from your house and jets the water onto your backside. You may have to move your butt around to make sure the water gets your whole butthole. Then you get up and wipe your butt with toilet paper. There should be no poop, only water on the toilet paper. It's 95% one wipe day, EVERYDAY!

Put it like this: Imagine if you got poop on you arm right now. How would you clean it up? Would you be happy with using a paper towel and leaving it as in? No, you probably would run water on your arm first then wipe it off with the towel. What you are pretty much doing right now on your backside is being happy/content with using just the toilet paper to clean your backside and being happy. That's just gross. That $55 that I spent on my bidet has LITERALLY paid for itself in less than a week. The feeling of actually being clean back there feels amazing. (Note: I do NOT work for LUXE bidet or know anyone that does nor am I an investor.) Buy it, try it, and you'll be thanking me later. Unless you have hemorrhoids.

u/kappakingtut · 3 pointsr/ibs

This one is the best simply because it has a mist setting that gets everything off and covers your entire body.

If you take out the 2 water flow restrictors shown in the reviews it makes the water pressure double.

u/Kevdog1800 · 3 pointsr/askgaybros

I got you boo boo!

My favorite method is to get a shower shot. This is the one I have and I love it, but it’s VERY easy to cause a bigger problem with a shower shot than you had to begin with (explanation below.) I bought my shower shot along with this shower head which I can discreetly unscrew the handheld shower head and screw in my shower shot when I need to use it and none of my roommates have a clue that I just rinsed out my butthole. It also allows me to control the water pressure on the shower head.

The better method to start with would is to go to the pharmacy and get some Fleet Enemas. Enemas or a Bulb Douche are the preferred beginning option because it’s easier to control how much water you’re using.

So, as a few other people have mentioned douching isn’t always necessary. If you have enough insoluble fiber in your diet, your body will clean about 95% of the debris out on its own. Insoluble Fiber helps to add bulk to your stool and hold it all together so when you go to the bathroom, there aren’t any little pieces left behind up there. Do not mistake that with soluble fiber which draws more water into your colon. I still prefer to give it a quick swish just for peace of mind, confidence, and comfort.

When you douche as far as water is concerned, less is more. You ONLY want to rinse out your rectum. This is why Fleet Enemas are good because they’re designed to hold the right amount of fluid. You DO NOT want to use too much water as it can over-fill your rectum and spill into your colon. If that happens, you can douche until the water runs clear, and then 10 minutes later a brown slurry begins dropping into your once clean rectum and... it’s NOT GOOD! If possible, you want to douche, and later have sex, after you have a good solid bowel movement. So go bop bop, shower and douche multiple times with a few ounces of saline/water until the water you push out runs clear a few times. Then soap and shower as normal.

Do NOT have sex immediately after douching. Despite your best efforts, chances are there is still some leftover water/saline in your rectum which you want to give 30 minutes or so for your body to reabsorb what’s left behind or you might spring a leak!

Now, douching is great in my opinion BUT you do not want to douche all the time. Douching strips healthy mucuses out of your rectum which potentially could increase your risks of contracting STDs. Your rectum is also home to a whole biological ecosystem which is part of a healthy immune and digestive system. The general consensus from doctors that I’ve read is that if you’re JUST rinsing out a small section of your lower GI like your rectum, it’s probably not not much of a concern but why upset your gut biome at all if you don’t have to. Douching is great! But don’t over do it.

I think that about covers it! If I missed anything or you have any questions feel free to ask!!!

u/Comac10 · 3 pointsr/howto

Ohhhhhh well in that case just get a shower head that has two heads. One that has a hose on it. I got one for for like $20. Give me a minute and I'll look it up.

My main recommendation when looking for one is making sure there is a knob to adjust the pressure (basically all of them have this it is how you turn them on) and a little switch or knob to adjust the water angle.

Greenco Bidet Fresh Water Spray Non-Electric Mechanical Bidet Toilet Seat Attachment

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A17T3N6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_HXUWAb6HKZPZV

It attaches to your toilet. You need a flexible hose, though, not a straight one. It will make your seat uneven if you don't buy spacers to lift the front of the seat up, but honestly I don't have the spacers and it doesn't bother me at all to have a slightly slanted seat.

u/wittyrandomusername · 3 pointsr/HomeImprovement

I bought this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A17T3N6.

I went cheap because I didn't think I'd use it long term. It's been almost a year and I'm still using it. It works great, and I love the adjustable nozzle. Cleaning it is not too difficult either. The only thing I will say is you should get new bumpers for the toilet seat also, since after installing it, the back of the toilet seat will sit up a little higher. These are the ones I bought https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076BFPJSC. Instead of relying on the adhesive, I actually screwed them into the toilet seat with small stainless steel screws and covered the screw heads with a little caulk.

u/Slugged · 3 pointsr/philadelphia

This confuses me. Do you just squat over the bowl and hose off your ass? It seems like shitty water would go everywhere. I've considered those ones that kinda snaps onto the rim of the bowl like this, but I can never bring myself to actually buy one because they seem cheap.

I have extensive experience with this!!

First and foremost, get her a bidet that attaches to the toilet. It will make post-pee/poo so much more manageable. Make sure to get one that is easy to operate and where she can turn the knob easily. Amazon has tons to choose from. Edit: This is the one I have experience with. Worked wonderfully and was easy to install.

Other helpful products:

-A loofah that suctions to the shower wall. Several at varying heights is even better. Also a loofah on a long handle for when she has more mobility.

-Shower protectors for her casts/bandages

-Finger foods she doesn't need utensils to use for when she gains some mobility back. Cut veggies, berries, and crackers are a good start.

-Pull-on pants without buttons. Don't have to be sweatpants, necessary. Again, you can find tons on Amazon.

-Slip-on shoes

Good luck to your mom!! If I think of anything else I'll let you know. :)

I’d be happy to offer you guidance on your journey into the amazing world of bidets.

I started out with this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00A0RHSJO/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1523776662&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=bidet&dpPl=1&dpID=419LXSZM6YL&ref=plSrch

It’s an awesome bidet and does the job perfectly, is super easy to install and for $35 you can’t go wrong.

However about six months ago I decided to splurge and get the king of all bidets, the Toto Washlet:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00UCIOWRM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1523776789&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=toto+washlet&dpPl=1&dpID=31uvbuDPUAL&ref=plSrch

It’s expensive but worth it; the water is heated, it has different speeds and the nozzle can move back and forth, and the best part is that it dries your butt afterwards, which is amazing.

One thing about bidets though—for us guys, unless you don’t mind your balls being sprayed with water, it is kind of necessary to make sure they’re out of the way, or figure out a position where the water doesn’t hit them.

u/croyvig · 2 pointsr/sex

> I honestly can’t imagine how this works. Do you have a link? How do you get the water from I’m assuming the tank above the toilet? Also, how does it not get in the way when you’re using the toilet?

They tap the fresh water inlet line before the water enters the tank. Or, with a minor plumbing reroute and some extra cost parts, if you can reach your shower from the toilet, you can do what I did and have a manual bidet that has access to warm water.

The bidet itself cost me about $20.

As someone with a lot of hair who also sheds a lot of hair, I'm going to suggest a "tubshroom" strainer for your shower. It will still eventually get clogged up but lasts waaaaaaay longer than any other strainer I've tried (the struggle is real, folks).

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BYRMGCC/ref=asc_df_B01BYRMGCC5001553/

Other tips:

  • When washing your hair, don't pile all your hair on top of your head and "scrub", just lather your hands and run it through your hair, using your fingertips (NOT nails!) to massage your scalp.

  • Wash your hair as infrequently as possible (once a week if you can).

  • Scalp massage can help increase bloodflow in your scalp and is the only thing that is proven to increase hair growth.

  • Don't "scrub" your hair with a towel while drying it. Turban wrap it in a towel and let it air dry. Or if you use a hair dryer, don't be aggressive with the styling brush.

  • Careful with brushing / combing. Don't use plastic bristle brushes: boars hair or bust. Combs should be wide-toothed, with not rough edges.

  • Don't brush / comb wet hair.

  • Start from the bottom of your hair and work your way up. If you're prone to tangles: be generous with conditioner, maybe even switch to a leave-in conditioner. Be generous with detangler spray (you can make your own by diluting some conditioner in water).

  • Not related to hair drop, but if you're not prone to tangles and tend to have oily hair, I highly recommend apple cider vinegar as a conditioner / clarifier. It is the only thing that leaves my hair soft and shiny without giving me an "oil slick" in two days. Use 1 tbsp vinegar to 1 cup water.

  • Don't wear your hair in tight styles that pull on your scalp. Braids are your best option (they don't pull on your scalp, and the tie is at the bottom of your hair, so it's not damaging newer hair at the top).

We have ALL had this happen, please don't feel alone, or desperate. I can say that bidets are LIFE changing. They also really help with irritation. Here's one that you just attach to your existing toilet seat, and costs about $25. Brondell is a great brand, too (they make the super upscale ones, too). It gives you exactly the same effect as a shower, only without having to shower, and only works where you need it to work. (Also, if you feel like there's a little "left over," all you have to do is sit on the toilet and turn the bidet on!) https://www.amazon.com/Brondell-Bidet-SimpleSpa-Non-Electric-Attachment/dp/B075MMHQX7/ref=pd_cp_60_2?pd_rd_w=AASfp&pf_rd_p=ef4dc990-a9ca-4945-ae0b-f8d549198ed6&pf_rd_r=00E2J3KRWWYVEH6XGC8Y&pd_rd_r=e37b109c-a2c9-11e9-a9ae-270e3ef58a57&pd_rd_wg=2kBOB&pd_rd_i=B075MMHQX7&psc=1&refRID=00E2J3KRWWYVEH6XGC8Y

You don't need to own your home. The most practical and least expensive kind just fits under the toilet seat. Takes 10 minutes to install or remove. Like this one:

I've had my eye on this one as well, since bidets can add weird stress points to toilet seats that could damage the plastic of the bidet.

Depends on your toilet seat of course.

This brand claims it's thin enough not to add any stress points to the toilet seat:

Actually sounds like you have hard water. I just went through this in our new apartment -- my hair was super gross every time I washed it. Decided to buy this filtering showerhead Culligan WSH-C125 Wall-Mount 10,000 Gallon Capacity Filtered Showerhead, Chrome Finish https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006VVN1S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_4ToIxbT2R6HDR and my life is changed.

I live in LA and our water is horrible. We rent as well, but I changed out the shower head to one with a filter and it seems to have helped a little. This is the one I use:

Have you tried Culligan Filtered Shower Head. It works well for me.

Edit: DevaCurl also just came out with a clarifying shampoo based on miclear water. It's really easy on the hair. That should help you wash away the hard water build up.

Do you have really hard water? You could also consider a water softener if the filter doesn't do the trick. It'll be a more expensive investment, FYI.

u/Lisbethhh · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Hello fellow canadian :)

This showerhead helped my skin a lot.

u/gatoapestoso · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I use this one with a replaceable filter. It’s helped. I was hoping it would clear up the weird itchy scalp thing I have going on, but no luck there. I do have soft healthy hair though!

u/Willawonka · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Yes a million times over. The water in my city is so bad that I used to get out of the shower feeling like I had been in a pool. This is the filter that I ended up getting and it's seriously amazing. I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate this little thing. It has helped my skin feel noticeably softer, my hair feels much cleaner and doesn't get as greasy as quickly as it did before. I have way less dandruff, and I even feel like it has helped my acne as well. I just feel much cleaner.

I honestly would reccomend one of these shower filters to anyone living in a city that has questionable water. The filters only need to be replaced every 6 months, and they're only $10 on amazon. It's a no brainer imo.

u/PseudoPsychosis · 2 pointsr/NoPoo

If you do end up staying for an extended period of time, I would look into buying one of these filtered shower heads

Otherwise look into buying a Portable Brita Pitcher

The Brita Pitcher will make you 3/4 gallon at a time. If you have some empty milk jugs you can periodically fill them with filtered water for potable use. I don't see why you would need more than 2 or 3 gallons of water to give your hair a full wash!

u/luminous_delusions · 2 pointsr/FancyFollicles

Haha, probably not! The only ways I've learned to deal with hard water are either water softening systems (which are installed in a whole house's plumbing), getting a filtered showerhead, and/or using a shampoo that will counter-act hard water effects. I'm dealing with the issue myself in that the hard water here is turning my hair super brassy faster than I can keep up with it.

If you're staying in a place long enough to receive packages, I'd definitely get a shower filter and maybe some shampoo to help. If you can't the best thing is to just rinse your hair with filtered water or do an apple cider vinegar rinse to remove build-up from the water. I actually just ordered this filter since it seems to have the best reviews and a lot of them mention it improving their hair. The shampoo I got was Ion's Hard Water Shampoo (Sally Beauty brand) that I'd seen recommended a lot on other sites. I can't really comment on either since they haven't arrived yet, though. Sorry I can't be more help!

I got this one a couple of months ago and I've been happy with it. It has good reviews and is decently priced. Now when I use our other shower I can smell the chlorine as soon as I turn the water on.

The Sweet Home has a great comparison article on shower heads. I don't know if they really qualify as BIFL, but I bought the $23 Delta 75152 faucet based on their secondary recommendation and love it. I figured I'd use the high flow 2.5 L/min mode all the time, but honestly the 1.8 L/min mode is perfect. The 2.5 L/min actually feels like an absurd amount of water.

Next bathroom upgrade: bidet. I bought one a year ago when I was at a litre a day habit. When you are able to fully wash your "area" after shotgunning the toilet bowl it cuts down on irritation or rash that can develop later. Nowadays I've cut back on the drinking, but the bidet helps when I'm blocked up from other vices.

Seriously I cannot reccomend a bidet enough guys this is the one I bought (pretty much same one just updated) and it is the best ~$40 I have spent in a long time.

I'm not sure if you have Crohn's as it's not clear from your post so this may not apply.

Fissures became the ultimate reason I got an ostomy, I remember the pain of bowel movements so vividly. I actually became afraid of eating and started losing lots of weight.

I was taking sitz baths several times/day and using witch hazel pads for wiping. Each offered only moderate relief. A portable bidet actually helped a little, but sometimes it was also painful to have the direct contact. Something like this one, https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001KKRCFA/ref=mh_s9_acsd_top_bkUNrH_c_x_4_w?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=mobile-hybrid-11&pf_rd_r=382Z096K0MFFZ8744RFY&pf_rd_t=30901&pf_rd_p=c21ec71f-52a5-57f0-a441-f6e3c87ea1d7&pf_rd_i=686953011

Here's an electric one, on the lower end of the price scale since electric ones can be really fancy and get up to like $800+

Here's a really basic mechanical one.

For either type, you need to make sure that the shape/size of the bidet matches up with your toilet. Most mechanical ones are cold water only, which can be a bit uncomfortable. Some mechanical ones have a hot water hookup so you can temps but that would require additional plumbing on your end. Most electric ones use only cold water and have an electric heater in its storage tank. Some have timers/sensors. Some heat the water faster than others. Both types can be just rear (butthole) spray, or a combination rear and front (for ladies, or taint). But, the rear-only option can still be used by women for the front, with some creative maneuvering.

u/FreeThinker76 · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

This is a bidet. I don't care what pre conceived notions you may have about using it. I went through the same shit you did until I got this. No matter how bad your movement, this will clean you up in 5 seconds. I went from using a roll of TP in a day to taking about 7 seconds to use the bathroom daily. It's easy to install and easy as fuck to use. If this is as big of a problem as you say it is, get this and don't look back.

u/needler14 · 2 pointsr/NoStupidQuestions

No because while the water turns off, the nozzle also goes back in the guard. It all happens in one motion. Also your asshole is pretty far away from the nozzle unless you have a prolapse anus 😂

The one I use is the Astro Bidet and it works so well for $25. I know it sounds like an ad but honestly, after getting the damn thing, wet wipes became a thing of the pass and I use far less toilet paper now as well. Only use it to dry myself. Also has pressure control so you can control how much pressure the nozzle is giving out, just in case you are having a very very bad stomach virus giving you the runs.

u/dubchem · 2 pointsr/Accutane

So this is a little outside the box, but have you ever thought about a bidet? Here is one that is less than $30 and you will end up cleaner than using any type of paper. If you use the bidet at home, you can probably stand the paper at work. At least you won't have to use paper all the time.

I don't know why the price went up like $40. Seems it's only available via third party sellers right now. Look up similar ones. They're all pretty much the same.

As for guests seeing it, my dad fell in love with it so I ordered him one last year for Father's Day. My gf was apprehensive then admitted she liked it.

u/slash178 · 2 pointsr/explainlikeimfive

I have this same issue. You probably have some minor constipation and could benefit from more water, more fiber, maybe some metamucil. This is happening because your poop is too hard.

My solution (in addition to the above things) was to purchase an over-the-toilet bidet. I have this one, and let me tell you: it is life changing. My butthole is so clean, no more hemorrhoids, no more itchy, scratchy, stinkiness. It's like a localized shower for your anus whenever you want.

u/rougekhmero · 2 pointsr/Drugs

DO NOT shave with a razor or even clippers/buzzers. The first day or two might feel nice, but MARK MY WORDS, the next 6 months to a year will be the worst itchiest hell you have ever experienced.

Get some mirrors, take some adderall and go at it with scissors is your best bet.

ALSO, you can get a relatively cheap bidet (~30$ and up) that attaches to a standard toilet from Amazon. This thing changed my fucking life.

If you're re-doing your bathroom, maybe a fancy mom-level bidet is in the cards for you, but a year ago or so I bought one of these Astor Bidets from Amazon. $25, I feel at this point, everyone should be blasting their asshole with water. Super easy to install, seems to be a laser guided, heat seeking water stream as it hits the spot with stunning accuracy.

Has variable speeds, but full blast is total hole destruction, unnecessary. The downside versus a pro-bidet is the water is cold only, I'd imagine warm water bidets feel amazing but surprisingly, the cold water isn't bad at all.

It's a gamechanger, best $25 I ever spent.

This might be tmi but have you ever used a bidet? I got one on Amazon like this that hooks up to a normal commode. It's pretty forceful even on the lowest setting and you can really get it blasted into nooks and crannies. For that fresh clean feeling! And it's not a bad way to wake up in the morning ;)

u/buttpincher · 2 pointsr/AbsoluteUnits

There was another about a couple who has a poop sponge they would attach to one of these to wipe... They were so proud of their ingenuity too

Also they would re-use the poop sponge. Honestly though all people should get a bidet, we should not be wiping our asses in 2018, we have mechanical robots that will wash them for us for $25 on Amazon.

u/kachunga · 2 pointsr/ZReviews

just get one of these and call it a day

The only downside is burning cold water right on your butthole in the winter.

It's pretty regional. I'm sure I saw something about how in India/Pakistan they use a bucket and cup to clean up. I've lived in a place with these installed since before I can remember. Now we've got something like this. Obviously washing well afterwards.

I never thought I'd be discussing intimate hygiene with random people over the internet.

u/slappy1 · 2 pointsr/ibs

I've bought a few of these over the years and they are worth every penny! Your burning butt hole will thank you. Had some people laugh but later came to me and said they bought one too and love it. Haha! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003TPGPUW/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_9QeNwbV0WBVEP

For us, day 10 things started calming down with less urgent bodily alarms to hit the bathroom and the return of more normal density, thank goodness. As of now, I actually feel like my inner workings are functioning better than pre-keto, which is surprising. I really hope things calm down for you soon!

As a side note Someone in r/keto recommended this little godsend to literally save our butts during the process. It really helps as I completely understand how clean up can become a literal pain in the ass.

Make some time for yourself. Plenty of time. Get a bottle of lube and a smaller size dildo. (Not a hard vibrator) cover your bed with towels. Slowly start to play with yourself. Find what feels good. Keep a slow pace. Remember that your exploring. After sometime, your going to feel a warm comfort come over you. Your going to want to speed up. Go into the shower and continue picking up the pace. It might get messy. (I suggest buying bidet)you can use it before, during and after. You will feel an orgasm build. It will be like no other. Don't force it. If you get there, congratulations. If you don't, try again in a couple of days. Once you get more comfortable with your body, start involving your wife again.

Of course! Right now /u/fillup420 and I have the Astor Bidet, it was $25 on Amazon and it is seriously amazing.

When it's off, it's off completely. No dripping. I advise not doing what I did when we first got it, which is turning it on without actually being seated on the toilet. The spray is forceful enough to hit the wall across from the toilet. Shocked the snot out of me, because I was expecting a gentle water fountain-esque thing like is in the packaging's photo. Nope.

We have something like this, which works nicely, and bottles of the eco-friendly drain cleaner. We also rent, in a rather old German place where harsh drain cleaners are forbidden, and that seems to keep things clear.

Regarding drying, in the summer I just towel her off and she then goes along her merry way, and in the cooler months I use a normal blow dryer. None of my previous dogs have liked being blow dried, but this one gets offended when I stop. It's very sweet. Then I brush her until she gets bored of it. The only special thing I do is an allergy treatment that her vet prescribes.

I hear you on colour schemes. I almost always have black dogs and gave up on wearing much colour years ago, however I once had a black and white cat. We had dark floorboards back then, and I never noticed black hairs around the place, but I didn't need to because everything I owned was then covered in white hair.

u/ocdthrowaway00 · 2 pointsr/OCD

I use this bidet at home and love it.

For public bathrooms, you can get a travel bidet, like this one.

I usually just use some toilet paper that I've dipped into the toilet (after flushing of course!), and alternate between wet and dry wipes until it's clean.

u/alky-holic · 2 pointsr/Philippines

I bought this from Amazon:

Brondell GS-70 GoSpa Travel Bidet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008CSDKSQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_rccnybCJ7CAEJ

Now I never have to worry about bidet-less bathrooms anymore. I've used it in airplanes, malls and even hotels that don't have bidets. Capacity is a little lacking (only 500 ml) but you can always bring with you a 1L bottle of mineral water for stall refilling or just walk over to the sink with your pants down for refilling (not recommended).

Also, bring tissue. Wet wipes clog toilets if you decide to flush them down.

You're welcome.

u/MableXeno · 2 pointsr/menstrualcups

I use the specific 'feminine' wipes that you find in the drugstore.

If you are going to use a water bottle - just buy a peri-bottle or a personal bidet...so that you can have a little more control of the water.

u/saiikka · 2 pointsr/soccer

If you're ever in the need of a bidet, go on amazon and search up a portable bidet. I got one when i moved to North America!

edit: https://www.amazon.ca/Brondell-GS-70-GoSpa-Travel-Bidet/dp/B008CSDKSQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1504155231&sr=8-1&keywords=portable+bidet

What you do is instead of using toilet paper, you squirt your butt with water by squeezing the bidet bottle. This eliminates the need for TP as it'll clean just as effectively.

u/erinunderscore · 2 pointsr/Reduction

I'm two weeks post-op.

People here all have fantastic suggestions so far!
I used:

  1. Fruit of the Loom bras from Wal-Mart, look like this. They were cheaper at the store vs. Amazon. I specifically like this bra because it's shaped like a tank top -- not a racerback, which means I can wear more clothes with it without straps showing.
  2. Curad Non-Stick pads that look like this. That's what my doctor shoved in my post-op bra, so I just got more of them. Now I don't need them anymore. I didn't even finish the one box of 12.
  3. Husband installed this bidet for me. The dignity of cleaning my own butt after such a challenging surgery was nice.
  4. Someone else said heating pad -- yep.
  5. Consider pre-making some food -- something really healthy and easy to eat. I made a diet soup that is meant for a cleanse because it had a ton of fiber (cabbage, lots of other veg) and was easy to heat a little at a time. I can provide the recipe link if you want it. I also took psyllium fiber tablets every day and drank dark coffee each morning, while drinking as much water as I could. And I lost some extra weight with the soup, too. For breakfast, I only ate oatmeal with cinnamon and bananas since that's so easy to digest. I had no problems, uh, getting the job done with all that fiber.
  6. We installed a handheld shower head. I had my husband around to help me bathe, and it made things easier for both of us. I sat in a shallow bath and he helped me clean with the shower head. In the shallow bath, I used some scented epsom salts to help me relax. The first couple of baths were uncomfortable and awkward and it helped.
  7. Tylenol. I weaned myself off the drugs after 3-4 days. In the morning, I took half the dose of Tylenol (which is every 3 hours vs. 6) to see how my pain was, then I'd either take another one on time, wait a while, or take half a pain pill. I did this until I was using only Tylenol and eventually nothing or only one dose a day of it.

u/Dirthouse4lyf · 2 pointsr/bidets

It's this one here. I live in New Zealand so I had to replace the T with a 1/2 inch one because most toilet plumbing in NZ is 1/2 inch. Also had to get a 600mm extension for the tube because the connection was too far away.

The bowl on my toilet has the mounting holes quite far back behind the bowl and the seats available were hitting the bidet at the back and it would flex even with spacers. So I fitted the seat and drew out where I would need to cut and just snapped the piece off with some pliers.

Fits great now and doesn't even need spacers. Just had to ruin a cheap toilet seat haha

My situation is similar to yours, OP.

This Parks and Rec. clip speaks to me.

Recently I bought this cheap "entry level" bidet on Amazon, and honestly... I sort of look forward to pooping because it's so much easier now. It's a maximum 10 minute install process that anyone can do, and then you're set.

You sit down and take your poop, then turn on the bidet, slowly increasing the pressure until it feels right, then wiggle your ass around a little bit. Turn off the bidet, wipe a couple times to clear the water off, and then move on with your day.

I'd advise against using wet wipes if you plan on flushing them. Even though the boxes say they're flushable, they really aren't. "Flushable" wet wipes cause so many clogged septic systems every year. Here's a quick 2 minute video from the BBC talking about what wet wipes do to the London sewer systems. It's much worse if you have a septic tank buried in your yard. Wet wipes can easily clog the hell out of your tank and then you need to get it pumped. Imagine coming home from work one hot summer day and your front lawn has become a literal puddle of shit and piss because your tank clogged and overflowed.

First time was a little weird but after that it was awesome.

u/BurtMacklin___FBI · 2 pointsr/HealthAnxiety
  1. Talk to a therapist about this. This is some thing that could be helped with the right person to talk to.

  2. You need to eat. You're hurting yourself to avoid your period. This isnt okay.

  3. Look into birth control to eliminate your period. I can personally attest that the Mirena IUD stopped my period (2 years strong, only light spotting at the first 2 months). I've also read about BC pills that can reduce/eliminate your period. A doctor is a good place to start for help with all of this. Note: IDK how old you are or what country you're from, but in my opinion if you're old enough to have a period you're old enough to use birth control. I hope this is accessible to you.

  4. If its touching the blood, look into using tampons and getting a bidet ( https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00A0RHSJO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_MrGRCb6X5PXPM ). This washes off your private-bits after you go or have your period and you just pat dry when done. No need to touch a lot of blood. Talk to a doctor or gyno on how to use tampons. Here is also a pretty good guide https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/health-and-wellness/menstruation/how-do-i-use-tampons-pads-and-menstrual-cups .

Bottom line is you need to eat. Talk to someone about how you're feeling and about accessing these supports until you've dealt with the psychological root of your menophobia.

Would you rather wash poop off your hands with water, or with a piece of paper? Which do you think would get your hand cleaner? Using a bidet is a bit like taking a shower after each poop; your rear end will be squeaky clean. They're also cleaner because you don't need to rub your hand close to your dirty butt like you do with toilet paper or wet wipes. You only need to.. dab your rear end a couple times to dry it off.

u/FavoriteActorDennehy · 2 pointsr/sex

I was looking at the Astor that's top rated in the bidet category but the lack of heat control kind of turned me off. Are you finding that only cold water is a problem? This one is the highest rated with temperature control, but it's about twice as much.

Don't believe so, I think most hook right to the tank and do a gravity/water pressure feed. - http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00A0RX2UI

u/I_Can_Haz_Brainz · 2 pointsr/shutupandtakemymoney

Like all the other rebranded models bought from the same manufacturer.

Same except with the hot water line.

u/mobyhead1 · 2 pointsr/explainlikeimfive

I think some people think bidets are "decadent" or "high-falutin." Or disreputable, since a bidet could be used to masturbate. Plus, if you go into a home improvement store you're more likely to see this, which takes up additional space in the bathroom, is probably cold to sit on--or do you straddle it? Looks damned uncomfortable! Or they hear about those multiple-thousand-dollar Japanese bidets, and think one would have to be crazy to spend that much vs. toilet paper and a little effort.

But I bought myself the predecessor of this bidet Not very expensive, doesn't take up much space, runs both hot and cold water. And it is superior to toilet paper in every way.

u/WebMaka · 2 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

Forget the 120, step up to the 320. Hot/cold instead of just cold.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A0RX2UI/ref=emc_b_5_i

(At this price point I might have to pick one up. Didn't realize the hot/cold models had come down this much in price.)

u/SuminderJi · 2 pointsr/nba

I have this one

And this one

The second one is more expensive and honestly I like the first one (cheaper) one better. Plus the lever knob on the second one broke. The bidet works fine just has this plastic square you gotta push back instead of having that lever. If I had to buy again I'd just buy the cheaper one for all my bathrooms.

It'll be weird the first few days and you will need to use TP to dry off but after that you'll look down on all the plebs that don't have a clean bunghole.

u/amskeez · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

So the ultimate splurge would be the toto neorest with elongated bowl. Alas, that’s too bougie for my budget I settle for the bidet attachment from amazon. This this super economical one is a greater starter bidet. The tushy brand is a little nicer option as well.

I actually never bothered to hook up the cold water, as I didn't bother to clip the hose for the hot, so the water pretty much just comes out cold and gradually warms up. Install was easy, aside from the fact that my toilet crammed in a corner.

u/friendofsmellytapir · 2 pointsr/Showerthoughts

You can buy a bidet that fits under the toilet seat and all the fittings needed to install it yourself for less than $40, my father-in-law is obsessed with them and has installed them on his own toilets and for his kids at college in their dorms/apartments. This is what they look like

u/koalafied_human · 2 pointsr/DMT

Haha, I'm glad I could be of some help! Also if you really want to be a super pooper, get yourself one of these bidet attachments. I picked one up a couple months ago and it forever changed my views on pooping. It's like a power washer for your anus. I can't recommend it enough.

Also if you plan on snagging one, don't bother to get the hot water version. That's because the hot water has to heat up first just like how your sink works because it's tapping off the same line. You get used to the cold water version and don't even notice it after the first couple uses.

u/Derp_Stevenson · 2 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

I never thought it would be weird, I just thought they'd be expensive and never got around to looking into them. Last week I saw someone on reddit mention a nice affordable Luxe bidet I could get on amazon for under $40, and I figured why not pull the trigger. It was super easy to install, and it seriously is the greatest home improvement purchase I've ever made.

It's like washing your butt in a shower after every #2, just dry with a little bit of toilet paper and you're done. Amazing!

This is the model I bought if you're interested in looking at reviews and what not: https://www.amazon.com/Luxe-Bidet-Neo-120-Non-Electric/dp/B00JG2DETM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499879011&sr=8-1&keywords=luxe+120

Or buy a great $35 bidet and save hundreds on toilet paper! Best DIY quality of life purchase I've made, took 10 minutes. Especially helpful certain times of the month.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JG2DETM/ref=twister_B00KRO5XLA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

u/turkeypants · 2 pointsr/hotones

Those are the nice ones. There's another category of budget ones from like $20-60 all over Amazon from a hundred Chinese clone companies. They're hit or miss on quality as the reviews show, but I figured they're so cheap, why not give it a try. It has been great. The nicer ones offer better options, heated water, aerated water, air dryers, fancy remotes and all this, and that would be great but I don't want to pay for it and my hot water line is across the room from the toilet, so a cheapo is fine for me.

I got this one and it has been great. People in the reviews talked about it blasting your starfish skin off and wow they weren't kidding. The pressure twisty knob on this one is an illusion - realistically there's only Off or Peel Paint. So I got one of these twisty valves to go between the bidet hose and the main water pipe so I could fine tune the pressure to more reasonable levels and that has been great. You want some pressure to get that stuff off of you but not so much that your proctologist runs out of the room crying.

Wet butthole cleaning is the only way to go, the only way that makes sense, and sometimes it's nice to just let it run while you contemplate things and see if any more wants to come out. Toilet paper lasts forever now because you just need a couple squares to dab dry.

u/trollbocop · 2 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

Whenever I buy anything on Amazon, I sort by average review scores and get the best that isn't unreasonably higher priced than the others.

u/pokingoking · 2 pointsr/AskAnAmerican

I have this $35 one from Amazon.

Yes, it's cold water. It comes from the toilet tank.

The pressure it produces is .... fucking ridiculous. It has four little dots on the dial to indicate low or high flow. I've had it for a year now and I still can't even get to the lowest setting without feeling like my asshole is being ripped apart. I have to put it between "off" and the lowest one. So if you're worried about it not being strong enough, let me quell that fear right away. I literally cannot fathom anyone needing the high setting. It would probably make me bleed.
And yes, after you use it you use a small amount of TP to make yourself dry. I've seen other people say they use a washcloth for this since you're theoretically clean at this point. I maybe would do that if I lived alone but I'd feel weird having a reusable butt wipe in my bathroom that other people would see. I definitely recommend them. Overall probably the best $35 I've spent in the last 5 years.

I was actually looking at picking up something like this, it's small, fits right under your toilet seat, looks easy to use and easy to install... I'm sure we'd get used to the cold water in no time. :)

u/stickmanDave · 2 pointsr/changemyview

I spent some time in Pakistan years ago and became a "squat toilet" convert as well. Us westerners got toilets all wrong.

I have found that the combination of a squattie potty and toilet mounted bidet convey all the benefits of a squat toilet + hose but without the expense, hassle, permanence (I rent) and inconvenience for others that would go along with installing an actual squat toilet. The pair cost about $75 and took 10 minutes to install.

This is definitely the way to go.

I had suffered from very mild but chronic hemorrhoids for years. Once I started using this setup, they were gone in a week and haven't come back. I'll never go back to sitting and wiping.

As others have pointed out, any stool will do, but the squattie potty has the advantage of being designed to be easy to clean, and to slide out of the way under the toilet when not in use, reducing bathroom clutter. If you're going to buy a stool for bathroom use, this is the one to buy.

I second this! We got a bidet attachment a few months ago and aside from the obvious rinse after #2 which is great, I love it for cleaning up after sex and during my period. Serious life improvement. I'll share the link to the one I got from Amazon, it's only $45 and has a "woman" setting which aims more forward than the regular setting. It installed in about ten minutes. Totally worth it imo.

I suppose that depends on what you consider pricey, but I don't think bidets are too cheap either. I took a very quick look, and there was a pretty impressive looking one for ~$370.

u/KerNil · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

>Can you link the heated seat/bidet?

My seat is a Toto, too. This is the model in question: TOTO Washlet C100 Elongated Bidet Toilet Seat (SW2034#01).

Looking at its spec sheet:

>Power Rating: AC 120V-60Hz, 406W

So, if my math is correct, it draws 3.4 amps.

Here are all the items on my second-floor circuits. (My house was built in 1990, so I guess codes regarding circuits have changed a lot since then.) These 4 circuits are accessible in the attic.

Despite how crowded everything looks on my second-floor circuits, I have never had issues with a circuit tripping. While X number of receptacles may sound like a lot, the majority of the receptacles on the second floor have nothing plugged into them.

My bathroom fan draws 0.24 A.

Assuming that every light is turned on, and each bulb is 40 watts, Circuit 16 would have 480W (40*(2+5+1+1+1+2) = 480) and thus 4A of draw for lighting. Keep in mind, I am increasingly moving to LED bulbs, which obviously use much less than 40W each.

>How difficult is it to add another circuit from the panel?

I would say it is fairly difficult. I would not feel comfortable adding a new circuit myself, so I'd have to pay an electrician for this.

My seat/bidet isn't 12A (!), so am I still pushing my luck if I add 3.4 A to the existing circuit (#16)?

I guess it all comes down to the unpredictable variable of whether another high-draw item is potentially plugged into a receptacle on this circuit...

Probably a late reply but I would recommend to get one that at least has a self-cleaning function. It only costs a few dollars more but it is much more sanitary. Bidets just need to be standard. I have this one and it is amazing. Now it just sucks when I'm away from home - so in a public restroom I grab a wet paper towel to do a final pass after toilet paper and then toss it in the trash.

u/acquiredsight · 1 pointr/AskWomen

I actually have one that I ordered on amazon (this, or something like it, for anyone who's interested) and it's pretty great. It attaches to the same water that fills the toilet tank, so it's a pretty easy install, less than an hour. But it can't travel with me!!

u/ParadoxDC · 1 pointr/ibs

Yes just do the Amazon search and you'll see a few models that are all highly rated. I got this one for $35 because it was the highest rated and had the most reviews (and has the cleaning function). I honestly can't tell what the difference is between the other models besides a few basic functionalities. The one i got works perfectly and is a great price.

Yeah it was totally worth it, although my water pressure is awesome at my house and I made a few mistakes being over zealous with it at first leaving me a little sore for a while... Also I probably would've sprung the extra few bucks for the heated one as my water gets awfully cold too but overall it's a great unit that my wife still refuses to use.
