I do alot of Overlanding so I carry a pretty advanced medkit. To save money on the box instead of going with pelican I went with a similar case at Walmart, cant remember the brand but its water proof as well.

I just carry laxative, asprin, benedryl, bismuth subcarbonate, hydrogen peroxide, boric acid ointment, iodine swabs, quickstop, some gauze, dressing wraps, those brown compression thingys, various bandage sizes, cotton pads(dollar store), scissors, tweezers, and gloves. I carry all that in various amounts in a plastic case like I mentioned, very similar to this http://www.amazon.ca/Neewer-Waterproof-Shockproof-Protective-Cameras-Ideal/dp/B00RV53XBA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450752812&sr=8-1&keywords=plastic+case

All that is then kept inside the truck behind the back seat. I have a minor medkit right inside the back door of the bedcap on the drivers side, its held to the wall with velcro straps so if you need it you just rip the cord and off it comes. It just has a shit ton of gauze, sheets torn up to make bandages and some quickstop.

Most of the kits cost me nothing as it was stuff given to me by the hospital after my surgery and since they can't take it back I kept it for good use.

I use the amazon basics large as I like to pack light.

I carved out the bottom dual "something" holders to fit the external gopro dual battery charger.

Hero 7 black is the way to go. The hypersmooth stabilization makes it worth it.

Accessories to get:

First of all, get a gopro plus trial. It gives you 50% off of batteries and other accessories, but not chargers or microsd cards.

Grab a few extra batteries. With the trial, they're $10 each.

The dual bay charger is well worth the price.

These are the microsd cards I use in my H7B. They're fast, reliable and cheap. Also on gopro's recommended list of cards to use.

I use tempered glass protectors for the lens and rear screen and they don't affect video quality at all. They went on very easily and the lens cap is a nice bonus.

For a case, I currently use this one, but the official case looks good too.

I use this frame mount and love it. The front round piece can be removed if desired; I took it off as I don't need it for what I use my gopro for. It includes mounting options for both standard threaded mounts and gopro mounts. And the back slides on and off.

If you need a head mount, the amazonbasics one is identical to the official gopro branded mount aside from the logo (I have both).

Completely optional, but I really like these aluminum knobs over the standard plastic ones.

That about covers everything I use. Hope this helps some!

What I did was buy a bunch of Pick N Pluck foam. It let's you customize the size of the holes you need for each mini and you can cut it down into sections to fill whatever size container you are using. There are tons of different sizes and companies that make it and it is a much cheaper alternative.

Looks like this case. I have one and like it. It's nice and small.

I'm actually using two Drift Stealth 2s, which were selling for about $80 apiece a few weeks ago - unfortunately up to $116 now.

They do 720p at 60 fps and have about a 3-hour battery life; I can get about a week's worth of 10-mile-one-way commutes on one 32gb card. I put waterproof cases on them: another $30 apiece - mostly to avoid wind noise. The cameras themselves are water resistant.

I used the main support bar of a seatpost-mounted back rack to mount the back camera; I sawed off the post so it only extends backwards far enough to mount the camera.

I use Cyberlink Powerdirector 14 to sync up the two tracks - it was a real pain in the ass at first, but then I started clapping right after I turn them both on - functions the same as the clappers they use in the movies, gives you an audio indication of where to sync the tracks.

I have this case: Sony LCSU21 Soft Carrying Case for Cyber-Shot and Alpha NEX Cameras (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B06EON2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_sqY2xbQGTE5K1

It allows me to keep my A6000 with lens attached, plus one extra lens. I frequently carry around the A6000 with 1670Z on it plus the Rokinon 12 and it works great if not a bit overstuffed and can't zip.... But it's the smallest possible! Works for me. I also have a ThinkTank urban approach when I need EVERYTHING with me.

Melamine or acrylic dinnerware. They are pretty dinnerware-ish and still extremely sturdy.

Melamine for the plates, that is, and acrylic for stuff like translucent salad bowls and glasses. Although there have been some reports of melamine leaching into food, so something to research further first.

Corelle is laminated glass, and pretty darn sturdy too, and probably more luxurious feeling.

Although you could also figure out something foam lined to carry more breakable stuff in. Line a drawer with this stuff https://www.amazon.com/CamKix-Customizable-Magic-Camkix-Medium/dp/B00NTJUXXI or something like it and cut out places for your fancy-ass glasses to go.

I just ordered this storage case together with customisable foam. Pretty good reviews for both and affordable prices compared to the Pelican cases.

u/Tekkatite - I would get the $449 (on sale) Zoom F4.

It has the same -127dBu EIN and 15dB higher gain than the $499 DR-680Mk II, but will cost you $50 less.

Good comparison of the F4's big brother, the F8, with the DR-680 here.

The F4 is essentially the same recorder as the F8 with 6 inputs and 8 tracks instead of 8 inputs and 10 tracks.

Great promo video from Zoom, recorded with the F4, here.

Hope this is helpful and good luck with your short film!

If you need it right away and especially for travel, you could go for something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M60UN4X/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_a1DTCbG4BJB5P

The foam can be configured to firmly hold anything that will fit in there.

I have heard that the foam can start to degrade and flake off after a while but by the time that happens the third party solutions with better, custom molded foam will be out on the market.

u/funkmachinego · 2 pointsr/minipainting

I have a similar case, but not nearly as much paint. I actually use some magic foam like this one to act as a holder. It works great!

u/riggerjeff · 2 pointsr/ipad

If you’re willing to cut your own foam, you could use a “POV” case like the AmazonBasics - Custodia per trasporto GoPro, misura Large: Amazon.it: Elettronica. (There are a number of similar cases available, and you might find one more ideally sized for your purposes — I wasn’t searching in a language I speak.)

You will also be able to find sheets of foam —either to be cut or what is called “pull and pluck” here in the US—to customize the case, but I’ve generally been able to upcycle foam from other packaging.

If you’re willing to forgo the “hard(ish)” case aspect, try searching for cable organizers, pencil pouches or makeup bags to find pouches of various dimensions. If you want “pro” gear, both Think Tank and Tom Bihn make “special” pouches for wrangling cables and adapters, but there are many lower cost solutions available once you’ve decided what type of “organizer” you want.

Good luck!

I had the same dilemma recently and it took me ages to find a solution, I couldn't find a case which naturally fit my 2ds xl with the grip attached, and most generic cases were totally over sized

What I eventually did was buy a case designed for a gopro, pulled out the foam insert it came with, and put in a generic pluck foam insert

I hope you don't mind but I get the vibe you might be interested in drone flying so I really wanted to lay some of the knowledge out for you. I'll give the TL:DR at the end.

What drone model is this?

I shot the majority of the video with a Mavic Pro 2 . It is $1500. If you do get the same drone, I do recommend the Fly More Kit , as it gives you two extra batteries, a good carrying case, and some extra propellers. It is $379. Finally, I would recommend the hard case for it, for traveling, as it really has made accessing my accessories and batteries on it so much easier. It is $52.

For the videos in the State Parks, I shot those with my digital Camera, a Fujifilm X-T3, and then stabilized them. It is illegal to fly a drone in a National State Park. National Forests are okay though.

If you do decide to get a drone, I can help make recommendations if you plan to buy a DJI drone, as that is the brand I did a lot of research into. There are a lot of drones out there, but only a few capable of 4K. DJI is the top brand in the industry right now, mostly because they acquired, Hasselblad, in 2017 and have been using Hasselblad's tech to really produce amazing images. In case you never heard of them, Hasselblad is a professional camera company that created the original cameras for the moon landings back in the 40s.

How easy was it to learn to use?

For this question, it is actually two-part question. Ease of use is 50% of the knowledge you need. The other half is how to use. Drones are not well liked in many places and, ideally, you should research every flight to make to make sure you are not flying in illegal airspace. I recommend reading up on drone rules before you make the financial commitment, so you can be sure you are able to follow the regulations. This is the FAA's website for drones. For example, if you live in a big city near an airport, are you willing to drive to a remote location that doesn't have a large population of people to enjoy flying? I got lucky, and found a local park in River Bend, NC and flew there. After 5-6 flights, I had a good sense of how to operate. I've flown a total of 50 times and 4 hrs 19 mins. Despite this, I learn something new every other flight or so. This trip to Alaska has really built my confidence a lot.

Where can I fly legally?

It's not the end all, be all resource, but download an app called Airmap. Also DJI's app, "DJI Go", might be a good resource too. Personally, I use Airmap to research the airspace before I fly and I also google the places on the internet if it is a known location. The FAA has an App too, but it is terrible and useless.

Ease of use

Personally, the drone operates like a video game. I think it is wonderfully easy. The only part that gets tricky and when the drone is turned around so you will need to reverse your directions. The controller links directly to your smart phone and shows a live feed from the drone's point of view to the phone screen in your hand. There is small delay in signal from drone to phone, so don't let it become your primary source of control unless absolutely necessary. There are sensors on the front, back, both sides, and bottom to make the drone aware of obstructions. As long as the drone is not in sport mode, 99% of the time the drone will not fly into something by mistake (nothing is perfect).

TL:DR Simple answer.

Mavic Pro 2

It's pretty damn easy in my opinion, but everyone is different. Hand-eye coordination isn't everyone's forte. In addition to operation, even the best drone pilot should learn the software features that control the drone and the regulations of drone flying.

Happy Flying and Good luck. It's a lot of fun for me. I am going to get my Drone Pilot Certification as soon as possible.

Yi Discovery shares the same form factor as the Yi 4k so you can use cases made for them. I am using this one for mine.

I just got this in the mail today from amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Case-Small-GoPro--Black-Hero/dp/B00AU0HMGA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1396484810&sr=8-2&keywords=gopro+pov+case

It fits basically everything i need in it. I love the size of it, tablet size just thick. Fits my hero3+ perfectly with some mounts, 2 extra batteries, and all charging cables. Fairly touch/hard exterior, don't need to worry to much about anything getting crushed. I bought it so i can throw it in my backpack when i travel and not have to worry about it. Youtube videos on it are what sold it to me.

u/Filldos · 2 pointsr/flying

for 9 dollars more you can get yourself some QT Halo's if they're in stock. i emptied out one of these to store it in.

u/ScottishGigolo · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

Unfortunately this was the first “tournament” case I bought- close to 4 years ago. It’s a camera case and does its job, but I now use a drone case for travel tournaments. I have the one linked below which I usually for 6-8 lists in for days when I’m in decisive. There’s a smaller version which will fit a single Feldmar mini tray with room on the sides for damage deck, tokens, etc. that one I don’t have the link to, but it’s highly recommended.

I use these:

https://www.amazon.com/Sterilite-14228604-Stack-Carry-Handle/dp/B00IPUCPA0/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref=yo_pop_d_pd

And either line the bottom with metal like this and glue magnets to my bases:

https://www.amazon.com/M-D-Building-Products-56072-Galvanized/dp/B001GTVS82/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref=yo_pop_d_pd

Or I just got some of this and it also seemed to work well:

https://www.amazon.com/Customizable-Magic-Camkix-Extra-Large/dp/B00LAVI7B2/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref=yo_pop_d_pd

My thunderwolves and Bjorn have a few craft magnets glued to their bases and the metal option has worked great. Getting magnets to stay glued to the base was the hardest part and the larger bases don't move at all during transport.

The foam is pluck foam, and I used it for some bikes and terminators without too much trouble. It's a little smaller than the case, put I used the foam that I plucked and made an outside row of foam to keep the main tray in place and for extra storage

u/RadikulRAM · 2 pointsr/guns

Use these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Customizable-Magic-Foam-Camkix-Medium/dp/B00NTJUXXI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1474505567&sr=8-2&keywords=magic+foam

You can pull the pieces out, and put them back in. It won't be the most form fitted thing though.

u/BabbysRoss · 1 pointr/volcas

Amazon sell a few different cases in their Amazon basics range, this is the small GoPro case and if you cut out some of the foam, a volca fits nicely. There's plenty room for the knobs and it's fairly sturdy.

u/YYCmax · 1 pointr/djiphantom

I'd go with one of the GoProfessional hard cases. [This] (http://amzn.com/B00I8UCVZQ) one for a regular P2 (with or without gimbal) or [this] ( http://amzn.com/B00H6BU3J4) one if you have a Vision. I'm not being paid by GoProfessional to say this but their cases are hands down the best out there. I've seen and checked out pretty much every hard case on your list and something that I immediately disliked about all of them was that the foam wasn't hard enough. It was mushy and the phantom would rock around in the case. The GoProfessional foam is rock solid but still provides protection for the phantom.

It's not the biggest case, but holds most everything I need

I was not aware the lens protector on the Hero5 is replaceable. That is nice to know. I still think I will get something for the front.

Saw this case and these tempered glass

Guess the case is all about personal preference. Thought about that was I was looking. I don't have that much stuff, just enough to keep it secure when I grab and go for snowboarding.

u/SplatterSack · 1 pointr/backpacking

I picked up one of these cases on Amazon. Although, mine is a bit different and came with out the inner flap... (just noticed)

Here is what it looks like all together. I'm leaving all of the extra mounts at home and only taking the following:

  • GoPro
  • Waterproof housing
  • LCD Backpack
  • LCD housing lid
  • (2) 32GB MicroSD cards
  • (3) Batteries
  • (2) Chargers
  • Head-band mount (not pictured)
  • Short tripod (not pictured)

Also, I'm up in the air on whether or not I'll bring my Canon T2i. I have a 28-135mm lens, but it's super heavy. I may pick up a 40mm pancake lens.

    EDIT: I leave one-way on Sept 17.
u/jkurthoconnor · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I ordered and just received this GoPro case with exactly the same intention as you: to repurpose as an Iris case: AmazonBasics Large Carrying Case for GoPro And Accessories - 13 x 9 x 2.5 Inches, Black

With some careful foam cutting it should work well. One iris half fits (with some space to spare) in the large cutout, so the second half should fit (after foam cutting) in the side meant for accessories.
