I've got the note 3 and it's a Zerolemon 10k. I ordered it off amazon. (It turns the phone into a hefty little fucker, but if size was a problem, I wouldn't have picked up a Note 3 anyway. It still fits into my pocket, so I'm fine with that.)

It's pretty surprising how much of a stress relief there is never having to wonder if there's a plug anywhere, or asking for the table near an outlet, or rushing to finish the phone call before the battery runs out.. The sucker just stays on.. Totally worth it for anyone looking for a battery that hauls.

I got this one after going through two different glass ones (mentioned in the article). Love it. No issues so far. It's not glass, but at least this one stay on my screen. The other two I had were actually raised up along the edges so they would come off if you even look at it wrong.

u/soundwave314 · 18 pointsr/Nexus6P

I bought the 6P used a couple months ago and got an iCarez.

If I remember correctly, it had an outward-facing thick plastic film with tabs on the top/bottom for very easy placement/installation.

I use this and it hasn't had any dust or peeling problems https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01ACXSKAG/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Normally I would recommend IntelliArmor, but the flat TGSP was delayed and early reports are that the curved glass one is garbage.

In the meantime, I like Pure Gear. I have never seen anyone else on this sub mention it.

It is not particularly better quality than any other similarly priced screen protector, but it is the only one I have seen which includes an installation tray. As long as all decent TGSPs have colored bezels, I feel like the installation tray is a big deal.

Additionally, Pure Gear is the only brand I have seen which will pay to fix your actual screen if the screen protector fails to protect.

Edit: Proof they will pay to fix your screen — Front of box. Pure Pledge insert.

If you do not want to spend more than $20, amFilm is pretty much your only option. The quality is not significantly lower than the Pure Gear one, but no installation tray.

Most of the low review scores for the amFilm are from bad adhesive on the first batch, but this was corrected. The rest are usually from edge sensitivity issues, but that turned out to be a software problem and will be fixed soon. These guys actually have good customer service and sent me a free replacement when they updated the adhesive, but I have not applied it due to having already put the Pure Gear on. For the record, I had no problems even with the original adhesive. I just broke the protector (which was completely my fault, not the protector's).

I use this: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00LKYW6M0/

It works... OK. If you apply it for 3 nights in a row, the oleophobic layer can last for ~3 months - then you have to reapply it.

One thing I noticed, is that sweat absolutely destroys the coating (maybe from salt?). I stopped carrying my phone with display facing my leg, and the coating is lasting for much longer.

I am going to give you my conclusions after reading alot about this topic before I got mine.

The best one so far is Whitestone dome. If you can get it, do so and save yourself from wasting your money on products that wont work. Although it is the best, it is not perfect.
Cons:

Here ya go!
Wireless Charger, Clear Spigen Case, Spigen Car Mount Case, Peel Case, Glass Screen Protector, Apple Watch Stand, Airpods Stand.
I realize that the magnetic Spigen case won't work with wireless charging, but it's specifically going to be used as a car mount case for long drives/trips etc. These are Canadian links to Amazon, unfortunately.. but I'm sure that they should be easy to find elsewhere.

I bought the Anker one because I've been happy with their other products so far, plus you get an alignment frame, which is helpful. I know I'd get it crooked otherwise

If you want one that works with your case:

Ideally the Griffin TGSP or the intelliArmor HD TGSP, but both are sold out right now. They're well cut out, have adhesive all over the screen protector, seemingly high quality, and work well with cases.

The amFilm TGSP is what I went with temporarily. The updated adhesive one sticks just fine, and it doesn't collide with the case at all while still covering the screen.
Provides solid enough protection, and it's not really noticeable that there is adhesive only on the edges. The dot matrix on it does suck, but isn't that noticeable while looking at the phone straight on.

A lot of others I've read are poorly cut out, have poor adhesive, or/and are very difficult to put on. Not problems with the amFilm at least, though I'd still prefer full screen adhesive & no dot matrix.

3D TGSPs are good if you don't expect to use them with a case. They do cover the edges of the screen better, though I don't feel unprotected in any way with a flat TGSP & a case. If you try to use a 3D TGSP with a case, the case edges might apply pressure to the edges of the 3D TGSP, making the screen protector come off or break prematurely.

For anyone curious about liquid screen protectors: they are fine for scratches, but unlike the TGSPs, they won't absorb impact as well in the case of a fall. This makes the screen more susceptible to cracking than if you were using a TGSP, so stick to those IMO.

u/abz_eng · 8 pointsr/freenas

These would be great and probably are great for business but for home users not so much

u/Limitin · 7 pointsr/GooglePixel

How is the Zagg protector? I currently have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075WW69PS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it is terrible.

u/Zebov8324 · 6 pointsr/oneplus

Whitestone dome is junk. I've had two, and both started breaking by themselves within hours/days. Not to mention Whitestone customer support is easily the worst I've ever dealt with. It took them 3 months to reply because "they were having technical difficulties and didn't see my concern," then another 2 months to reply to that. On my second round (new phone), it's been six months and all they've done is closed my ticket twice.

I like this Spigen one. It's a wet application, so it's a bit harder to apply than the glass ones, but there's no bubbling in the center. If you apply it exactly right, the edges won't get raised up by a case. I've read some people have had success with this Whitestone one, but it is more expensive.

The best case in my opinion is this one by Urban Armor Gear. They're very rugged and barely make the phone thicker. I've used them on all my phones. My note 3 from 2013, my S7Edge, and now my Note 8. Never had any issues with them breaking or colors changing over time.

As far as glass screen protectors this one from amazon is pretty good. It even comes with a plastic guide so the protector gets perfectly aligned. The only problem is I can't use the screen protector and my UAG case at the same time. So I'm just using the UAG case by itself because that seems more substantial than just the screen protector.

u/askho · 5 pointsr/oneplus

This has nothing related to the aforementioned topic but if you have scratched your OPO, using a glass screen protector can sometimes hide the scratch and will smooth it out.

Yes it would.

I have always liked this one from Yootech

u/Rangizingo · 5 pointsr/Android

I actually just ordered this one courtesy of another redditor on /r/Nexus 6 referring me and put it on today. Let me tell you, it's actually flawless if done right. The one thing that sucks about the Nexus 6 is that the protectors are slightly smaller than the whole screen cause of the curved edge, but it still covers more than enough. I'm satisfied!

u/Wonkadonkathon · 5 pointsr/Nexus

icarez tempered glass was hands down the easiest screen protector i've ever installed, and in fact, the only install i would consider a success. zero bubbles and easy to get it lined up straight.

http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0168XT3E6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00

u/Hirshologist · 5 pointsr/Android

this is the one I'm talking about. It's absolutely fantastic. There are absolutely no sensitivity problems at all. It adheres pretty well.

It doesn't bubble, but like with any tempered glass screen, if you don't place in correctly and peel it on and off too many times, it can warp a bit. This happened to me once, but it was because I had a Pixel RMA and I tried to move the glass from my old phone to the replacement one. It honestly wasn't too bad. It's not a bubble, but a slight discoloration in the center that you only notice when the screen is off.

Nevertheless, I bought a new screen and it's absolutely fantastic. Trust me, this is the best tempered glass I've ever used. It actually makes the phone look better.

u/kermur · 5 pointsr/iPhoneX

I HIGHLY recommend this protector: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073DLZWX7/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Comes with a plastic guide to ensure proper placement.

u/runQuick · 5 pointsr/iphone

Maxboost Screen Protector - $10.99

  • Tempered glass sceen protector because the soft plastic ones get dirty/stained and peel off after a while. Trying tempered glass for the very first time.

    Spigen Liquid Crystal - $10.99

  • Clear because the phone looks great naked.
  • I don't like how thick this one is but if I go thinner like the Spigen Air Skin it is no longer transparent.
u/mortodestructo · 5 pointsr/GooglePixel

I'd personally recommend this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B075WW69PS/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

My wife and I are both currently using the "updated adhesive" model, and it's already saved my wife's screen twice.

• Dot matrix is only noticeable with the screen off, or in bright daylight when viewed at a particular angle.

• There's a tiny "rainbow" effect, once again only noticeable with the screen off, or in bright daylight when viewed at a particular angle.

• The "3D" curve doesn't quite cover the entire glass front, but it does absolutely well enough that you'll forget it's there after a short time.

Just my take on the matter. Personally, I'll take the few, small trade-offs over a broken or scratched screen any day.

As for the one you bought, go back to the store and demand your money back. Should be pretty easy. Tell them you were told by an associate that it'd work perfectly, and it was garbage. If it's a retailer like Wal-Mart, you'll definitely get it back. If you got it through a wireless store like verizon, well... it'll be tougher. You'll probably have to call them out on their shit, demand corporate numbers so you can complain, etc. (Maybe you'll get lucky though.)

u/Pinanims · 4 pointsr/GalaxyS8

Alright, everyone keeps telling you to be careful, which I guess you already know, i'm going to give you the benefit of a doubt and say that maybe you cracked it once by accident, it happens, and the second time was because your phone screen was already weak from being replaced... I'll say it's no fault except bad luck. Shit happens.

My recommendation is just bite the bullet on spending a little more than you want to for phone protection, it will save so you much money in the long run. Screens are $200 - $300 dollars to replace, when you can just spend $75 now and protect it. So here's what i think will help.

  • Get a case
  • The one that is most reccomended after me spending DAYS going through threads and looking for solid cases is the Spigen Neo Hybrid ($13.99). Slim case with actual protection.

  • Get a screen protector
  • Also through my research is that the TG (Tempered Glass) protectors are all awful except for the Whitestone Dome ($44.99). Is a hard pill to swallow but it's the only glass that fits well, no reduction in sensitivity, and has full screen adhesive to keep from having those ugly rings around the edge of your screen or having those black bars. I reccommend this because you seem to crack your phone, rather than scratch it, this may save your screen a ton.

  • If you reeeallyy don't want to swallow the $50 then most people just go with a wet applied film to just help from scratches and possibly a minor crack. Most people settle for the IQ Shield LIQuid Skin ($7.85). It's just a skin but it may save you in the end.

  • Get a stand
  • It will keep your phone more secure on your desk rather than having to deal with knocking it off when reaching for your glasses. Any cheap stand can work. I went with the Econstyle Stand ($7.99) because it's easy to move from my side table by my bed, to my desk by my compute. Just some extra security and ca keep your phone from getting any scratches from laying it face first on a hard surface.

  • If you want to get a little luxury you could always get Samsungs Fast Charging Wireless Charger ($39.99) which has a stand included so you just set your phone down and it's charging, but that's just extra luxuries and isn't necessary.

So you could spend a bit for some extra security that will save you time in the long run, or you can keep risking dropping your phone and breaking it. I bit the bullet and got the case, TG and stand and I haven't looked back. I actually dropped my phone first few days after having it, but thanks to my TG the damage was only there and it saved my screen completely.

Got this one with great reviews. I checked the reviews on fakespot and it says the reviews are 90% genuine. https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Maxboost-Tempered-Protectors-Accurate/dp/B073DLZWX7

I messed up the first one, but then I with the second figured out how to do it and get it to look perfect. No bubbles and a 99% perfect fit. Still have one extra since it’s a 3 pack.

I prefer to have a cutout for the camera area and I’ve been using iPhones and screen protectors since the iPhone 4S. I’ve never had any damage to the camera area. That way there aren’t any light reflections or etc messing with the light sensor, Face ID, and the selfie camera.

I would avoid this one because the cut out for the notch is wrong. https://www.amazon.com/iPhone-Protector-amFilm-Tempered-Installation/dp/B074ZNLM9J

u/enalios · 4 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

I have a note 8.

I went without a screen protector or case for a while. I was totally fine with microscratches, I just don't want cracks. Well, eventually it cracked after one really really bad evening.

After getting a replacement with insurance, I know use a Spigen neo hybrid case and this protector

The only problem I've had is that I spilled some soda and a tiny bit got under the protector.

I hike a pretty rough trail about once a week. I haven't dropped it on the trail but I feel pretty confident about it. Ive dropped it at the office and at the house and obviously the phone and screen are totally fine.

EDIT: there is a small change in responsiveness. The only time I notice it is when I use the camera because I often stand it precariously in my desk and lightly tap it to start a timer. Now I have to brace it to tap it, or I use the pen, which can still just use a light tap.

not the most premium out there, but honestly i regularly drop my note. it's nice when i break it to just shrug, whip out another $12 screen protector, and have it installed with 0 effort in 2 minutes.

everything about it is just so easy. adhesive is only on the edges, so you can't get bubbles or weird stuff. comes with a simple plastic frame to line it up during install so it's really unfuckuppable.

u/EwanG · 3 pointsr/GalaxyNote3

I was surprised not to see the one I use listed, but then realized most folks probably don't think of this when they think of cases even thought it is one.

I am referring specifically to the ZeroLemmon combination rugged case and 10000 mah battery:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GYD782A

It gives you much of the same protection as the Otter Box while also letting you go days (literally days) without having to recharge. Reviews on the Amazon site are pretty positive as well. If you're going to spend $50-$60 on a case anyway...

u/ConfessionsAway · 3 pointsr/technology

It's not an external battery case. It's a brand new, larger battery with a case around the phone to hold it in.

u/Quabbie · 3 pointsr/oneplus

I've had mine for about 3 weeks now. Phone manufactured on September 15, my girlfriend's was on August 22... Nothing really to complain about. Battery life lasts far longer than my N5. Here are my settings and specs.

u/sumchinesewill · 3 pointsr/oneplus

The clear case from Oneplus does not really protect the top or the bottom of the phone. It just protects the back and the side and it's slippery as hell.

I would go a diztronic case

Diztronic

and a tempered glass screen protector. The most popular one it seems is Orzly, although I've had issues with it, it seems to be the best one from reviews

Orzly

There is no cases out right now that will keep the sandstone look unless you get a clear case but it'll still make it look washed out. You can get an aluminum bumper case but it cases reception issues.

u/cozzy891 · 3 pointsr/oneplus

Get the Orzly

Definitely worth it. I actually prefer the feel of it over the stock screen.

u/utapesgeometriam · 3 pointsr/oneplus

I'm using the tempered glass protector from Orzly and it has a good oleophobic coating, seems much better than the screen on its own. Clarity is excellent and I've noticed no more glare than was present on the screen itself. I'd highly recommend it.

u/barefootBam · 3 pointsr/oneplus

I did. Very pleased with the move. The extra battery life is a huge plus for me. Size is a little daunting at first but you get used to it. After using it for a couple weeks, the Nexus 5 seems tiny in comparison.

EDIT: I would suggest the ORLY tempered glass protector on Amazon. Fits really good on the phone and can barely tell its on. Sometimes I forget I even have a protector on it.

u/stayeducated · 3 pointsr/GalaxyNote9
u/Lingo56 · 3 pointsr/LifeProTips

If the sanitizing wipe contains any alcohol DO NOT RUB IT ON YOUR PHONE.

Almost every phone touch screen has an oleophobic coating on it to make your fingers slide nice and smooth. The alcohol will completely destroy this coating if you keep using it.

What you want to do is use a UV Lamp to kill any bacteria on the phone screen. Usually oleophobic coatings last about 2 years before they wear away from regular use. I replaced mine on my phone using this coating mix.

u/ReliableSource · 3 pointsr/iphone

I've not done it myself, but you can just buy a bottle of the stuff and put a drop on the phone

u/[deleted] · 3 pointsr/GalaxyS8

I have the same problem though not quite as visible. I have to use a flashlight to be able to see it. IMO, this is an oleophobic coating issue. Get this product and apply it on the screen:

There are lots of TGSP on Amazon for the 6P, and they're all priced quite low too. I got the iVoler brand, but the PLESON brand was basically the same thing at the time I bought it. https://youtu.be/FgJRA_JryI8

Buy one of these

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N2JIQR7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_yL3jDbHBEF230

Plug it into your computer and recover files. In the scenario that the hard drive is just fine then you can even just get a new enclosure for it. Just get the right size - 2.5” or 3.5”

For the sake of £6 quid it’s worth having a go yourself.

u/phoeniks · 3 pointsr/NoStupidQuestions

Officially there is no way to do this.

Unofficially, I have done this in the past with a Tivo box. You would need to physically remove the hard drive from the DVR and mount it in your computer. Easy if you have a desktop, otherwise you can buy a cheap sata to USB connector on Amazon like this
https://www.amazon.co.uk/USB-SATA-Adapter-Cable-Drives-en-GB-SATA-USB-3-0-converter/dp/B01N2JIQR7/ref=sr_1_3?

On the Tivo, the filesystem was Linux which Windows cannot natively read so you will need a utility like this one
https://www.eassos.com/how-to/access-Linux-partition-from-Window.php#Linux_reader_for_Windows

Without seeing the DVR drive, I can't tell you how to find the video file you want, although there is probably a date and time stamp in the filename.

Having found the file, your remaining problems are viewing/converting it to a useful format, and possibly defeating DRM on the file.

This Spigen Tempered Glass protector is the one I'm currently using on my black pixel. I've used 2 others since I've had this phone and this is by far the best. I really don't even notice it most of the time and it makes the bezels a darker black which looks really good. It is a little expensive for just one protector but it went on extremely easily and I think it is much worth it for the quality.

7 months in I am still fond of the Whitestone Dome glass.

Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Glass-Dispersion-Dome-Whitestone/dp/B06ZZBPXMK/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

Most of the negative reviews seem to be people failing to make sure their phone was on a level service when they installed it.

My own install and review is below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1pF_s9iw2o

At the time it was the only English language demo of the Whitestone Dome glass, now some more popular youtubers have reviews on it too.

But the protector is still going strong on my phone. It attracts a little bit of dirt/pocket lint around the edges, but it does not penetrate the protector at all.

u/beyondthetech · 3 pointsr/GalaxyS8

The only one that looks promising is a relatively pricey one and a bit complicated, called Whitestone Dome. Uses a UV-activated bond. Check it out here:

I got the Diztronic case in matte black for my gold XS. I’ve owned diztronic cases for the iPhone 6, 6s, and 7. I’ve owned a couple of other cases but I somehow always go back to this brand. The matte blue used to look amazing with the phones with white faces, but this is the first time I’m opting for the matte black. Hoping the gold shows through the camera cutout.

Specially if you dont want to spend 4 times as much on Whitestone and not to mention the mess it creates. Further there have been threads here and at XDA on how the screen still cracked at the corners even with Whitestone on.

I have been using this one from Phone launch in September, still going strong, no sensitivity issues and excellent customer service. This actually cover just about everything so no corner is exposed and surprisingly still fits well with a case.

One negative is its a smudge hell, but I guess that the case with all glass protectors.

EDIT: Also, another issue is that there is not cutout for front camera and other sensors(except earpiece), after some months of use I am noticing some dust under the front camera, it doesn't seem to affect the camera performance even though I frequently get messages to clean the lens whenever I use it.

The Whitestone Dome Glass screen protector covers and fills in small scratches on the actual phone glass: It's not really a repair per se, but the full-coverage liquid adhesive (that you cure with a UV light) makes scratches invisible to the naked eye under the screen protector. You'll also be preventing more scratches and have some protection against the phone cracking from being dropped. I have one and love it, totally worth the cost but you need to watch the tutorials and be careful about installation. It's the best screen protector on the market right now for curved screens.

Hey everyone. I just recently got the amFilm curved TGSP. So far I like it. It does have a dot matrix, but it's only visible if you look for it. I would never notice it otherwise. I have no touch sensitivity issues either. The TGSP works great with my Fabric case as well! It was super easy to apply. I do have a small rainbow effect, but I've been seeing that if you give it a day or two, it goes away, so I will update with that. I feel comfortable recommending this, especially for the price. Here's a link.

Edit: rainbow effect is already gone less than an hour in. If you hold your phone at an angle under light with this TGSP on, you can see the dot matrix but I'm not too bothered by it. This is more personal preference though so take it with a grain of salt!

Sure, it's the Invision MX150.

My personal thoughts - Really, really nice arm. I wasn't expecting much for the price, but it's honestly flawless for the budget.

No wobble, lots of stability and huge range of motion even for that 29 Inch Ultrawide LG Monitor, I can put the monitor on it's side and it'll fit. I'm not sure if you'll get a larger monitor tilting on it's side though.

u/izzowing · 3 pointsr/pixel_phones

The only screen protector for any phone with a curved screen I personally can recommend is the [Whitestone Dome glass](http://www..com/ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078JR1HTN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_2ecJAbSCNS396) It's an ordeal to get it on but it works phenomenally once it's on.

The problem with most screen protectors that curve is they only have adhesive around the curves or on the flat which cause the screen to lift or become less responsive. With the dome glass it uses a liquid adhesive and a uv light to cure the adhesive so there no air bubbles, and no loss in sesnitivty. I highly recommend watching a few YouTube videos of the isntallation process before attempting to put it on.

I have had mine for about 3 months now and no issues. The one on my mom's Galaxy so has been for like 8 months and still fantastic.

I've bought multiple of these tempered glass screen protectors on Amazon and use them along with a phone case. The screen still has the same feel and responsiveness.

They hold up really well against cracking during everyday use and normal drops and falls. The only minor problem I've had is that dust can occasionally work its way under the protector, leaving tiny little spots (but that's on a phone that is constantly in a very dusty environment). I dropped my phone screen side down on dirt/gravel and accidentally stepped on it. The screen protector shattered of course, but my phone was perfectly fine with not a scratch on the actual screen.

Yeah, this is the one I've got, 30 quid and it does the job. Only up to 27" inch though which is the monitor I'm using - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0765Y4CT5/

I never, ever rotate my monitor though, I gotta tell you. My rooms quite small and I can only push my chair back so far and playing a vert on a 27" monitor in landscape is plenty big enough for me.

I always wanted to try tate out, but it felt more like a fun novelty to me than something that was essential.

If you've got a bigger room and a smaller tv/monitor, it could make all the difference, but that was my experience.

u/BritishAnimator · 2 pointsr/buildapc

For mounting, buy a VESA Desk mount which can usually rotate any monitor. This might open up your options rather than relying on a monitor that has a 180 swivel. I use DELL monitors for high quality colour grading and a Spyder X Pro for 6 monthly calibrations. If you want higher quality then you have Eizo Coloredge monitors. Their 24" models are 34cm and 36cm though.

Another possible option if space + quality are paramount is to see if you can use a small surface tablet as a secondary screen.

u/HappyBunchaTrees · 2 pointsr/gamingpc

You could put the monitor on a stand that anchors to the desk and give yourself more overall room for activities. Not sure if it'll free up much horizontal space for the mouse but it should make your desk feel a bit roomier. Did you mean that you wanted to have the monitor float free so it’s just facing you but sits on the table? Cause if so then yeh there’s options you could get a gas monitor stand. Sorry if I misunderstood your first comment https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0765Y4CT5

Yeah, the factory installed screen protector is surprisingly thin. I didn't realize how thin it was until I went to install my tempered glass screen protector.

I will say after browsing Reddit for s10e recommendations I narrowed it down to a couple results. If you're looking for a quality replacement I can recommend this amFilm Glass Screen Protector. The installation tray is pretty nifty and greatly improves on the ease of installation. There is a nice little 24-month warranty on it as well that you register on their website. I haven't had to make any claims, but with my typical usage I almost guarantee I will at some point over me owning this phone.

I also run fakespot on all purchases I make on Amazon and this one has an "A" rating which basically means they're not going out and purchasing a ton of fake reviews on their products.

The newly announced Raspberry Pi model A+ draws 220mA at idle.

http://makezine.com/2014/11/10/raspberry-pi-model-a-revealed-smaller-and-just-20/

> Without the extra components, the Raspberry Pi Model A+ draws about 30% less electrical current than the B+. After booting to the Raspbian login with a USB keyboard and mouse plugged in, the A+ drew about 220 milliamps whereas a B+ with the same setup draws about 310 milliamps.

According to the eLinux Wiki page on the Raspberry Pi camera module:

http://elinux.org/Rpi_Camera_Module

> Make sure the flex cable is inserted the correct way on both ends, and each connector has the locking tab engaged. The RPi + camera draws about 260 mA more current when recording video, than without the camera. The Model B is about 550 mA by itself, so camera use pushes it over 800 mA. Some power supplies, cables, and polyfuses may not maintain 5V onboard at this current load well enough for reliable operation. You can check this with a voltmeter across TP1 and TP2.[15][16]

So, 310 - 220 = 90mA improvement on the A+. That means the A+ recording video will consume about 720mA. That is 5*0.72 = 3.6W of energy required. For 8 hours, you will need a battery with a capacity of 3.6*8= 28.8Wh. A standard Li-Ion battery is 3.7V, so 28.8/3.7 = 7.73Ah = 7730mAh. Assume there's some conversion inefficiency, so we'll need somewhere around an 8000-10000mAh battery pack.

Here's one:

http://www.amazon.com/Compact-10000mAh-Portable-External-Technology/dp/B009USAJCC

Might be a bit too big.

Here's one for the Note 3:

http://www.amazon.com/Zerolemon-Zeroshock-Shockproof-Dustproof-Compatible/dp/B00GYD782A

I would think this would be a reasonable size battery to put into a camera that fits into a front pocket on an officer's uniform. The battery could also be worn on the belt similar to how mining headlamps work. It could use a smaller battery that is replaceable after say 4 hours of operation.

On top of this, the Raspberry Pi, no matter how optimized the new A+ may be, is still a full blown Linux computer running a full Linux stack. The camera interface runs through the hardware video encoder of the GPU which is similar to the ASIC a proper video-only camera would use, but all the losses from the application CPU pulling from the GPU, doing its own OS processing, and pushing to the SD card would be minimized by a streamlined ASIC. This could cut the power down a bit, but would be made up by the addition of an ADC and mic for audio. The camera could also be disabled when the officer is in his car, as the car already has its own cameras with a much larger battery.

I got this glass one. This is my first "high-end" device so I figured $15 (+$10 case) isn't something I'd skimp on. The plastic ones have always felt cheap to the touch for me and offer less impact protection. When the glass shield breaks it (hopefully) dissapates and absorbs some/all the impact force.

u/ElmoHat · 2 pointsr/oneplusone

I don't know for sure, but I imagine the import tax to be the same. You would be better off by going with [this one] (http://www.amazon.ca/Orzly%C2%AE-Tempered-Protective-Protector-SmartPhone/dp/B00KQKATH8) from Amazon in my opinion.

u/Gorehog · 2 pointsr/oneplusone

I just got a tempered glass screen protector to replace the plastic one that I ordered from OPPO.

Couldn't be happier with it. Better touch response and no bubbles behind the screen. Also a diztronic TPU case.

Diztronic and Orzly, dawg.

Grab an Orzly glass screen protector from Amazon. For $15 it fits great, is easy to install, and you can't even tell it's there.

I picked up mine from Amazon..

Edit - oh, and while you're at it, get yourself a good quality case for the mobile as well - I am using the Red TPU Case, but they recently put out an Ultra version, which has slightly beefed up corners for added protection ..

One of our friends here recently also reviewed it - http://redd.it/2mwh9q

I would say that there are some pretty good cases on amazon. I currently am running a Tudia Cygen case and an Orzly tempered glass screen protector. The case is durable and thin and the screen protector is really smooth and feels good. I recommend getting both.

u/allkill · 2 pointsr/oneplus

There are a lot of recommendations on the /r/oneplus forum (and newer ones than mine probably) but I use an Orzly tempered glass screen protector and a Tudia Melody TPU bumper case. I had bought a Diztronic TPU case at the recommendation of the aforementioned subreddit but I just found it cheap-feeling and ugly so I replaced it. But lots of other people like it so give it a shot.

Definitely looks like the Oleophobic coating has worn off. You can reapply it yourself if you'd like- about $20 on amazon, will last basically forever. Works on phones too. https://www.amazon.com/Crystal-Armor-Fingerprint-Oleophobic-Coating/dp/B00LKYW6M0

u/ExultantSandwich · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

You can buy the oleophobic coating applied to phones, and apply it to your screen protector.

https://www.amazon.com/Crystal-Armor-Fingerprint-Oleophobic-Coating/dp/B00LKYW6M0

I've heard mixed things though.

u/Technotronsky · 2 pointsr/MatebookXPro

Already love the original touchpad, but I don't know how the plastic will hold up over the next couple of months. Plus who doesn't love the touch of glass. Got mine here: https://www.protectionfilms24.com/custom-sizes.html

I find the prices really good, paid something like 13 EUR incl. shipping for 2 of these (wanted one spare in case I messed up... well I didn't ;-).

The exact measurements I used were: 63.5mm x 118.5mm with a 2mm radius on the edges. As you can see, I have a bit of space on the right/left side of the trackpad, so 119mm would probably be spot on. Right now I am applying an oleophobic coating every evening for the next 4 or 5 days so the surface is less prone to fingerprints and smudges, plus it makes it feel even smoother. Using this one here: https://www.amazon.com/Crystal-Armor-Fingerprint-Oleophobic-Coating/dp/B00LKYW6M0/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1BZETL2ULKAL3&keywords=oleophobic+coating&qid=1554233628&s=gateway&sprefix=oleophi%2Caps%2C285&sr=8-1

The reviews are mixed, but I find you really have to apply it a couple of times, making sure to let it sit for the night or at least 8 hours before applying it again. People tend to be very impatient, but this is key to getting the most out of your coating. You can also use this to restore the coating on your phones/tablets/touchscreens by the way, but please apply it at your own risk!

Edit: 13 EUR for 2 of these incl. shipping

Just got to be careful when you put it on so that you don't get it too close to the sides otherwise it won't fully stick. The sides of the phone's glass are curved, this causing the potential for this issue.

This is the one I'm using, and I've loved it so far. It fills out the entire face of the phone with small cutouts where they need to be. I don't really know how to describe it, but the edges of the glass are rounded and not as sharp as I've seen on other phones, you won't cut yourself dragging your fingers across the cutouts. And I haven't had to put it to the test, but it's apparently got a lifetime warranty, which is cool.

u/dakoellis · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

This one here. the case overlaps a very tiny bit on the corners but it isn't causing any issues. Got the case glass and phone during the christmas time sale and haven't had any issues with the glass coming up or anything

This one is only $8 shipped if you have Prime. And honestly only slightly more expensive than if you paid someone to go through the trouble of shipping you one.

I used it twice when I had my 6P. Worked great, got scratched after a while, cheap enough to just buy another and replace.

I use it as an SSD for games. There's a 15-20% decrease in read/write speeds compared to being plugged into a mobo sata, but I haven't noticed the difference and it hasn't impacted game performance at all.

u/finglongerUK · 2 pointsr/techsupport

if you have a desktop you could connect the HDD direct to the motherboard if you have spare power and sata cable

or you could use a USB > sata adapter or USB disk enclosure to connect the HDD externally

u/Jnsjknn · 2 pointsr/NoStupidQuestions

If only the screen and keyboard are broken, you can use an external display and keyboard to use the computer.

Now, if the computer itself is broken, but the hard drive is not, you can open the laptop by removing some screws and remove the hard drive. The rectangular part in the bottom left corner of this picture is the hard drive.

You can then get either put that hard drive into another laptop or buy a USB to SATA adapter (example) to plug it to a computer with USB.

I have made the decision simply to leave the back area around the data connectors open, to try and fit as many different convertors as possible. Hopefully something like this should work: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N2JIQR7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_RELKDbKER3B8A

If it's a Windows machine and you want to replace a HDD with an SSD... I have done this with the laptop of my GF and my mom's laptop. I used Macrium Reflect (https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree) to copy one disk to the SSD. You'll need an adapter so you can attach the SSD to your PC without removing the HDD. Something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/USB-SATA-Adapter-Cable-Drives-en-GB-SATA-USB-3-0-converter/dp/B01N2JIQR7

Macrium Reflect is quite good and I never had troubles with it for all the PC's I used it for. It makes a bit for bit copy of your drive. Be careful with the partitions though, those can be tricky.

u/crashgoggz · 2 pointsr/london

I've done lots of hard drive removals. what model of Lenovo is it?

I've had lots of luck googling the laptop model and teardown. once you've got the drive out, you'll want to plug it into the new laptop.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/USB-SATA-Adapter-Cable-Drives/dp/B01N2JIQR7/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1502610079&sr=8-3&keywords=sata+USB

I've used this type of thing on the past with success. Other option is to get the shop you are buying the new laptop from to copy over your data as part of the service.

Also, I highly recommend pairing the phone with the caseology parallax case and spigen full coverage screen protector. The spigen goes edge to edge and doesn't cutoff any of the lcd. Have not experienced any lifting or rainbowing due to the 2.5d glass design on the pixel. Also the screen protector goes right up to the edge of the case and leaves virtually no gap.

I would definitely go with a Spigen screen protector if you're going to go with one. It covers the whole screen, and also works with the Caseology Parallax. I have the same case, with the Spigen screen protector here's my setup: https://imgur.com/gallery/Szvz1 the screen had a bubble but it's normal and went away in a few days. Do you bubbles disappear when you put pressure on them and then re-appear after you remove pressure? If so, then the curvature of the screen is your problem. I used these on the Pixel's that my GF and I both use. No bubbles, perfect fit. I trusted the online review of other screen protectors and it really paid off.

They make them for the Pixel XL as well.

I bought these:
Screen protector
Case

Had them since Oct 2017 and still going great. Case is tight, not stretched. I cracked one screen protector with my keys and bought another.

Only issue I've had with the screen protector is it doesn't adhere to the screen, it just sticks around the edge.. so I get dust under it occasionally. But, it's also easy to pull off (intentionally mind you) and clean, so you can re-apply it and it works great again. Looks great.

My notes and advice on screen protectors.

  1. Your screen can be scratched by sand in your pocket (Micro scratches).
  2. All glue tempered glass screen protectors are garbage (Low touch sensitivity and can easily fall off. The touch sensitivity issue is caused by the glue raising the protector from the screen).
  3. The plastic ones feel gross.
  4. I've tried DIY loca, it can be a hit or miss depending on how careful you are. Please do your research before attempting this.
  5. Whitestone Dome is amazing but ridiculously expensive.
  6. I've found that full adhesive screen protectors can somewhat protect your device from a fall. I've personally had Whitestone Dome fall face first, protector cracked, phone was in perfect condition. Although I'm not certain if the phone would have cracked..
  7. Use this. I've been using it for a month and it works flawlessly. It's also only $12.99 compared to Whitestone Domes $40+.

Note - My recommendation is a full adhesive LOCA screen protector. You must be careful when installing it. You've only got one shot. Unless you buy like 5.

All the screen protectors have pretty bad reviews on Amazon. The challenge is the curved screen. A lot of the glass screen protectors only adhere at the edges. I've been fairly happy with the IQ shield. If you do get this one, then read the directions/watch the video carefully.

I just got a clear protector (case friendly) from IQ Shield, and it's great. I tried a matte protector (full screen coverage) first, but I didn't have the patience to do the edges and ended up going with this one.

The protector itself is still larger than the actual display area and the borders work great with the Spigen Thin Fit case (I got it because of the cutout for a magnetic mount plate) which I'm also using. It's not a tempered glass protector, so you do get that plastic-y feel and small amount of the orange peel look, but that's just a fact of life with the wet-apply, plastic protectors.

u/puppyyawn · 2 pointsr/GooglePixel

I bought two but have only installed IQ Shield. I was doubtful about IQ shield but it's damn near perfect. It's not a tempered glass but feels really smooth, I'm not sure you'd know the difference. When/if you install it...watch their instructions and if you still have a few bubble areas, let it cure over night....it should work those out and look great afterwards. Mine looked yucky at first but the next day, wow. The other one I bought is tempered but not sure if I'll even need to put it on. Here are the two links.....

I personally think the S-View cases from Samsung are an underrated accessory. They allow you to control media etc without even opening up the phone, and just look pretty sleek in general.

For actual screen protectors, it's a challenge because of the curved screen. I've tried a few, and have been very satisfied with amfilm - they're the most affordable, and if you register immediately you get upto 3 replacements free for damage. They do have a dot matrix pattern and have a rainbow effect under certain lighting conditions, but I havent found either to be a truly big enough hassle.

After going though a couple of Whitestone protectors I gave up on them. They seem really bad about lifting which causes bubbles. Anyway I started running these amFilm protectors a while back and have been quite happy with them. They aren't perfect(there is some reduced touch sensitivity, especially on the edges), but for the price I'll keep using them. The oleophobic coating is pretty good when they are new, but it does wear off after a while. I'll probably be replacing mine pretty soon just because the coating has worn off, but at $10 each it's not a big deal.

u/Aldarro · 2 pointsr/iphone

There's a little distortion at the edges, I think due to the rounded edges. But the protector does slightly extend beyond the edges of the display, so it doesn't obstruct the image.

I'm not sure of the exact thickness, but they're slightly thicker than the Belkin ones. I'd say that's definitely a good thing because the Belkin TrueClear Pro Ultra (Corning version) is too thin, to the extent that it cracks easily with small impacts.

if you want a glass protector only whitestone is good enough, even if it's not cheap.
save your money and don't buy any other glass protector, they are all the same and don't get fooled by amazon reviews. 90% at this time are fake.

if tpu/pet i would go for dry installation. the wet ones are too thin and fexible so it will not be very good with the s pen.
they are cheap but probably still not very good.

u/Sythrix · 2 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

There is only one good glass protector, here. It takes patience to put on and can be easily messed up if you don't pay attention.

Otherwise pick from various plastic film protectors like Skinomi.

FWIW, looks exactly like this product on Amazon for $13
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075WW69PS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_q0iJAbT19N777

Using one now. Has the dot matrix but doesn't bother me. My biggest complaint is dust/pocket lint has seeped underneath after installation.

u/they_have_bagels · 1 pointr/headphones

Well, it's a fair bit thicker than the original battery. But I purposely went for the Note 3 because it was huge; I don't care about thickness. It's pretty damn awesome.

Here's the Amazon link (not a referral link):

http://www.amazon.com/Zerolemon-Zeroshock-Shockproof-Dustproof-Compatible/dp/B00GYD782A

u/SRTman · 1 pointr/NoStupidQuestions

I'm not familiar with that particular product, but I did buy this battery about 2 months ago for my Note 3. It is also 10,000 mAh and I recommend it 100%. I'm averaging about 3-5 days on a charge depending on amount of time roaming since I don't really get service at all where I work.

u/blorg · 1 pointr/news

There is, but you need to put a new back on it that makes it absolutely huge.

http://www.amazon.com/Zerolemon-Zeroshock-Shockproof-Dustproof-Compatible/dp/B00GYD782A

Since the battery in the Note 3 is removable I would just carry a spare if you want longer battery life. Far more compact solution.

u/scy1192 · 1 pointr/Android

Galaxy Note 3 + 10,000mAh extended battery (3x the size of the standard battery which is already really good)

u/Changsta · 1 pointr/Android

He most likely has this.

Most people are getting 3-4 days of heavy use. 5+ days of normal use.

u/tannimkyraxx · 1 pointr/note3

I bought one of these about 6 months ago https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GYD782A/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_TIWMwbW5YX69Q it just about doubles the thickness of the phone and adds a bit of weight, but the trade off is I can go 2-3 days without charging and I am always on my phone.

u/metilco · 1 pointr/gadgets

The added thickness is a dealbreaker for most people, but this 10,000 mah zero lemon case pretty much triples the already decent battery life. I run 100% brightness with data/wifi/gps/bluetooth on all day, and lasts me a minimum of 48 hours (and I use it heavily).

I also ran the phone on an unpowered MHL->HDMI adapter using a bluetooth gamepad to play games on a tv, and it ran for over 10 hours straight.

Bit of a mini-rant, but the freedom of never having to worry about turning down brightness/etc really can't be understated.

u/RightEZ · 1 pointr/gadgets

I bought one of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00GYD782A and solved all my problems. I think external batteries are silly.

u/stealer0517 · 1 pointr/apple

u/Papigrande23 · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote3

You need to check Amazon for an extended battery. I don't know how to post pix, but my battery life, with HEAVY downloads and constant Bluetooth (smart watch & earpiece) is

[Case] Adore June Classic case for ONEPLUS ONE - original Cordura® - black | £8.96 via Amazon.co.uk

I can't speak for the delivery time due to having Amazon Prime (next day delivery) but the case itself is pretty nice. Fabric on the outside while having the inner layer being made of a soft fleece. The case was far too tight to comfortably use, needing two hands to squeeze the phone into and out of the case. It seems to be loosening up after the few days iv had it so it appears to be getting better.

Recommendation: Haven't decided

[Protector] Orzly® - OnePlus ONE Premium Tempered Glass | £11.88 via Amazon.co.uk

Quality protector, feels nice and doesn't appear to diminish the screen or touch of the device. However, it does not fit perfectly. It appears to be cut slightly smaller that the screen of the Oneplus. The left edge will fit perfectly but the right will have a small gap. Its not noticeable unless you look closely but again, its not perfect.

I've never used a matte screen protector on a phone so I can't comment on it. I'd be wary of how much it might degrade image quality.

Also, it's just a plain PET plastic screen protector. You can get a 3 pack of them on Amazon for the same price in glossy, matte, or UV coated.

The smarter chocie is to get a nice tempered glass screen protector

Lets start off with cases. Below is a link to an article about the top 10 OnePlus One cases. You may also want to look into the tempered glass protection options. Some people claim the tempered glass is amazing, while others believe it won't protect your screen. A lot of factors play into whether your screen will crack when dropped, so sometimes you get lucky and other times you don't.

I've had it now 2 months without issue. I fudged and applied it ~1cm off center but there isn't any bubbles or peeling.

u/Alien-Echo · 1 pointr/nexus6

Has anyone else experience this issue using this screen protector from Yootech? The cutouts seems to stay clear away of both the camera and the proximity sensor.

EDIT:
I bought and installed the mentioned glass screen protector. Works great and the screen behaves as it should during calls. As a side note, when I had the tap-to-wake mod from XDA working on my device and I enabled the power button to hang up calls, double tapping the screen to wake it up during a call would hang up the call as well.

u/maineac · 1 pointr/nexus6

I got the Yootech and it has worked very well for me. I did have the problem with the screen blacking out on calls with my previous protector and have not had it once since using this one.

u/reddituser2006 · 1 pointr/nexus6

Screen Protector I bought. Seems to work well. The only pain with them is since the screen is slightly curved you have to put it on almost perfectly.
I have this case and it seems to have saved it from a few small falls, but I don't know that I would trust it at a construction site. I would look for something a little more heavy duty.

u/iHateMyUserName2 · 1 pointr/nexus6

Yeah man, honestly it's great. It's the Yootech one. I kind of cheated a little when I put it on- once I dropped it on and smoothed it out, I used a hair dryer to get the adhesive extra sticky. Been a week now without any issues and the first 4 days was without a case.

Edit: No idea what I did wrong with the link thing, but whatever, it's there.

u/MillBaher · 1 pointr/nexus6

Are you able to plug your hard drive into a Windows PC and download a free program called HDTune that can check the whole hard drive for bad sectors using the error scan tab?

Do you have a spare hard drive (internal or external) that you could do a clean install of Mojave too to rule out a software issue 100%?

You can test the Mac with just one ram stick in one slot (alternate the slot) to work out if you have a ram stick fault or ram slot fault https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Pro+13-Inch+Unibody+Mid+2012+RAM+Replacement/10374.

I’ve seen some posts asking about the Spidgen Full Cover Glass tR Slim. I'll try to answer some questions today.

Rating: 9.5/10

Thoughts:

  • I've used Spidgen protectors before and they always feel great. This one is no different. I've never had one crack on me, but I also take care of my phone.
  • Front coverage is really well done.
  • Slim, like the name implies.
  • Glossy- fingerprint magnet like all screen protectors, but easy to clean.
  • Reflectiveness is about the same as without the glass. On deep angles, you can see a slight fog of white due to not being adhered to the screen completely, which I think is absolutely fine because why are you looking at your phone like that anyway?
  • If you run your knuckle across with some slight pressure, you can see some temporary ripple rainbow effect on the pressured area. It goes away after some time, but it can be noticeable with the screen off or with a black background. Again, this is due to the screen part not being adhered. This is the first time I've used a glass protector with only the sides having adhesive, so I'm not sure how this will effect it in the future. However, I don't think it's going to be an issue.
  • You can tell in the pictures that the outside edges aren't completely covered but it's actually a good thing in my opinion. I use a case with it and if it didn't have that clearance, many cases (at least the ones I own) wouldn't fit or would screw with the glass cover and lift it up. Also, without the case it has a nice white trim since I got the black front with my Silver Pixel (looks really cool btw).

The reason I gave it 9.5 instead of 10 is because of the inside coverage not being 100% accurate (See album). The top and bottom of the screen is perfectly fine and I understand the cutouts needing a little bit of extra space (camera/infrared sensor), but the left and right side of the screen are not completely covered. I heard that the other brands actually cover it a bit too much, while Spidgen's actually is a tiny bit short (preferable, but not ideal).

    ---
That's it for the glass protector. Here's some bonus pics of some skins:

    Slickwrap's Hemp Skin

    DBrand's Concrete Skin
Note: I cut out the Hemp sensor area because I had trouble with my Concrete skin before where it would interfere with the laser focus.

This is the protector I have: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N63XLQ6/

It covers the full screen, and current one has survived since November. The previous one (same model) lasted only 3 months before it got a crack in it, which I'm not sure how it happened.

(Edit: grammar)

u/ChevyNexus · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I'm on my 2nd Spigen and it seems to be very prone to scratches. It covers the phone extremely well fitment (sp?) wise but it seems a little on the fragile side. I just ordered the IntelliArmor so I'll see how that one works out. I'm in the united states and picked it up for like 12 bucks. Worth a shot.

This is the one I have that has the black edges. There's also a version with white edges. Some people complain about air bubbles in the middle, but I believe they were just applied poorly. I put mine on, waited 20 minutes, and decided to pull it off to adjust it. Fit perfectly with no bubbles.

u/t-poke · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I had a Spigen tempered glass screen protector on my Pixel XL, and absolutely loved it. It only had adhesive around the edges, but if it was dot matrix, you wouldn't know it. Or maybe it wasn't dot matrix, I don't know, but I couldn't even tell I had a screen protector on.

I have not found anything similar for the 2XL. I have the Amfilm one on now, and it's not bad, but the dot matrix is clearly visible and I think touch sensitivity has suffered a bit. I am disappointed to see that Spigen doesn't have anything for the 2XL. Based on what I've read, it seems the Amfilm is the best TGSP out of all the mediocre options, but I would love a TGSP just like the Spigen one I had. Anyone know if Spigen has plans to make one, or if there's another one that is very similar?

I'd recommend this guy for a screen protector (Spigen Full Cover Glass): https://www.amazon.ca/Spigen-Google-Screen-Protector-Tempered/dp/B01N8S5R93/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1501820609&sr=8-3&keywords=spigen+pixel

It's one of the only ones that covers the entire screen and doesn't have any halo or rainbow effects. There are some negative reviews on amazon, but I have it and can only assume that they must not have applied it correctly.

For a case I got the Case by Google silicon case (grey). Not the most protective, but I think it's pretty great. I tried out an Otterbox Commuter and an Incipio Dualpro, but I found they were just too bulky. Only issue with the Google case is that it's stupidly expensive for what it is. I grabbed mine on sale though.

Probably one of the more complicated applications, but seems promising. The plastic protectors were ok, they always left a rubbery feel that I could never get used to.

u/icrucifiedjesus · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

Regarding screen protectors:

I have found only one SP that has edge-to-edge protection and that also has adhesive on the whole screen and not only on the edges. https://www.amazon.com/Whitestone-Dome-Galaxy-screen-protector/dp/B06ZZBPXMK

or EU: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/whitestone-dome-glass-galaxy-s8-plus-full-cover-screen-protector-p63747.htm

The availability and the price are kind of a bitch tho.. Also the installation. You gotta prepare a bit for that by watching youtube installation videos for example. But if you want a fullscreen SP, that is properly holding, water and dirt proof and are ok with spending a bit more then I can only recommend this one.

u/Abenlog · 1 pointr/iPhoneX

I just installed this screen protector: Amazon Link

This was the first tempered glass screen protector that I've ordered which came with a super intuitive guiding system. The protector leaves space around the bezel for a case, which is exactly how I intend to use it. It also doesn't cover the notch. The guiding system was ridiculously easy to use, and I got a perfect fit the first try. Plus, it includes 2 extra protectors, just in case. Highly recommend it, especially at the price I paid.

Coupled it with a Spigen Hybrid Armor and my phone feels well protected now.

u/goonersaurus_rex · 1 pointr/iphone

ummm...I dont know? haha. I just generally buy cheap ones through amazon - my only screen is an anti-fingerprint coating (which doesnt last forever but w/e).

Literally the determining factor on this one was the fact that the pack included a guide to help get the placement correct (first time I have seen that).

FWIW this is what I got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073DLZWX7/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don't put too much thought into the protector. Mainly there to prevent light scratches - I dont expect it to save my phone from certain death. So with that in mind, the cheapo ones tend to do a great job. If it gets busted, no brainer to just slap a new one on.

u/bschn100 · 1 pointr/verizon

ok, some people don't like your question. I would suggest doing it yourself. get a protector with an install kit, they make it very easy, and alignment is no longer an issue.

>Does anyone recommend using a screen protector, or am I okay to just type right on the gorilla glass?

I'm using a wet application, non-glass screen protector. I think the closest to the one I have is this one. Mine does a good job with fingerprints and light scratching but it's definitely not for everyone. It makes the screen feel plasticy (which feels less luxurious).

People always say to get the Whitestone Dome tempered glass protectors but those are expensive and if you mess up with installation (or if you notice problems with it later on) I heard they charge for a replacement + shipping. Doesn't seem worth it.

I just wish phone manufacturers would stop with curved screens altogether.

Not tempered but I've got this one and really like it.
I've never done a wet install before so I thought for sure I'd fuck it up...there'd be bubbles or dust trapped underneath it. But the instruction video was really good and miraculously I got it on perfect on the first try.

The texture is nice...more on the rubbery side but its smooth. Doesn't leave fingerprints or streaks very noticeably.

u/LucasJLeCompte · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I go the IQ shield. It comes on with this liquid applicator and the didnt really bubble. It doesnt go all the way to the edge of the screen, BUT it leaves a nice gap so that you can put a case on the phone. So it covers all the usable screen.

I've got an updated Tempered Glass from amFilm with much better adhesive. In my post history you can see me trash the version one and tried new ones.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075WW69PS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_acZ-zb3DAMT2G

If you have a Version 1, send them an email via Amazon and they sent a replacement.

It's much better. There's sometimes a "rainbow" oil streak depending if there's moisture and humidity in the air which couldn't be helped due to no adhesive on the clear glass it self. So far, I am very satisfied. Better adhesive and no popping sound from poor adhesive. If you want to give this one a try, I would recommend it with the updated version.

Note: it's a dot matrix design and the dots are visible if the screen is off or tilted in an angle to the light.

u/WheninRome · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I have the amFilm TGSP for my 2 XL.

It was good at first. Adhesive only on the edges. Dot matrix pattern. I noticed no rainbow effect like the Spigen ones had for the Pixel 1's.

Today, I notice there's a hair between the screen and protector. Seems it slipped in through the adhesive.

I went to their store and saw that they have a version with stronger adhesive, so I contacted them and am awaiting feedback.

If the TGSP is the same, but has stronger adhesive, then it's a win in my book.

u/Trixter313 · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I had the same issue and ended up settling with a non glass protector, until I looked on Amazon again and found this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075WW69PS/

It's my first adhesive around the sides only protector and was surprisingly easy to install. Micro dust specks don't matter anymore because there's no adhesive on the clear parts. The only issue I had was one time I dropped my phone and the screen protector just popped off. I stuck it back on but there was visible dust underneath it from the ground. Contacted support and they sent a new one out.

My screen survived

u/jusuchin85 · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

Maybe because I had issues with it in the past.

I was looking high and low for a screen protector for my Pixel 2 XL and despite a few different ones, I didn't really stick on one that works for my phone. So, I went without a protector for 2 years - only a case (and recently, just the dbrand skin)

Looking back, I noticed that there were very subtle scratches on the screen. But no major ones. I was careful when using the phone, drop it once (no cracks - case protected it), but otherwise, just using it normally.

That's why when I got my P4XL, I just didn't see a need to use one. A case is a different story altogether, but who knows... I may abandon the case too lol.

u/Hi-de-Hi · 1 pointr/Pixel2XL

u/TechKingAmongUs · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

Zagg Glass is probably one of the better ones even though they're expensive. There are cheaper alternatives on Amazon, however, dust creeps in after a few weeks of use and you do get a little bit of the rainbow/ oil effect when the screen is off. Least with Zagg, you get a lifetime replacement if you keep breaking the protector.

Check out Whitestone Dome for the Pixel 2 XL too. Pricey, but looks like it solves all of the curved screen problems everyone runs into from time to time.

Personally, I have https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075WW69PS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it works great with cases (X-Level Guardian and Spigen Rugged Armor). I do have the two issues I mentioned above, but so far it really hasn't bothered me all that much yet.

I've been told to reinforce the desk by sandwiching two pieces of wood between the arm clamp and desk to spread the weight. Is the sandwich the best way to go, or should I simply add one wood piece under or over instead? Thanks. Table top > https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/linnmon-table-top-black-brown-10251352/

So are you looking for advice on a mounting system?

I have this one (I'm in the UK):

Invision PC Monitor Arm - Ergonomic Height-Assisted (Gas Powered) Full Motion Single Arm Desktop Clamp Mount for 17-27" Screens Adjustable Tilt Swivel VESA 75 to 100mm Weight 2kg to 6.5kg (MX150) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0765Y4CT5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_dQ9HDbVGF6YR5

It rotates to portrait, and had proved very solid so far.

u/kaje · 1 pointr/buildapc

I had a stand like that with two 27" monitors. It was fine, no issue supporting their weight. I ended up replacing it with individual stand like this though, for better adjustability.

u/MikeyR16 · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

I've ended up buying a monitor arm from invision I found the Ergotron and Amazon basic too expensive 100 gbp :-O and the invision is 1/3 of the cost, had some good reviews as well. I can report back with feedback about the arm if you guys want.

How do I like the monitor or the arm?
The arm is really good I can move it in any direction and it's solid, easy to move around the desk too.

u/ChrisDNorris · 1 pointr/buildapc

I bought two of these and two apple crates to stand my current desk on. Works perfectly, cost me £70. The crates have even given me extra storage space.

Messy atm coz I'm recording, but: link.

You need an RMA. Any hardware base issues you are having shouldn't be there. My fingerprint works 99.99% of the time on the first try. AS for gboard just tell it to add your wife's name to dictionary. If you are using a screen protector, F**K dot-matrix screen protectors, basically unless you use <https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Glass-Dispersion-Dome-Whitestone/dp/B078JR1HTN/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1518553296&sr=8-5&keywords=pixel+2+white> then touch will be wonky or if you don't use a screen protector at all. Not sure what you want here, this dimming/sound seems pretty standard when dealing with a oled/stereo. Definitely an outlier, Pixel 2 XL is by far the best and smoothest android out there, save maybe MAYBE the S8.

u/almightyshellfish · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

Now I have to disagree. I bought the Whitestone Dome screen protector and it's been solid. Well worth the price. The results are undeniable. Just my two cents.

This is the one I used. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078JR1HTN?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It's crazy expensive for a screen protector, but it's perfect. The application is kinda tricky and I had to redo mine after it didn't work the first time, but it really does work.

u/TysonRios · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I actually just ordered the Whitestone Dome Glass protector. It's pretty much the only non-matrix tempered glass one that has good reviews. Pretty highly recommended from Reddit people. It costs quite a bit and installation is a bitch but kinda worth it for a $950 phone I suppose.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078JR1HTN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_eTbPAbBJ5Z8P3

u/alexanderwept · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I can't say for sure because I don't have a tempered glass screen protector (I don't have a screen protector at all because I am a glutton for punishment, I guess). But this one has been in my Amazon cart for about four months. I've heard REALLY great things about its ease of application and quality - probably why its pushing $50.

u/KaplowWolpak · 1 pointr/pixel2

If the Zagg one sucks, I'd ditch it. If it suits you better than other screen protectors, you might just have to be careful for however long it takes to get the replacement.

You might even be able to slap a cheap plastic one on while waiting for the Zagg screen protector.

I did hear about the Dome Glass screen protector being pretty nice, but it is significantly more expensive. The installation seems to be as fool-proof as possible, but it's more intimidating than other screen protectors.

I ordered amFilm from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PP9Q288 Can be tricky to put on, but instructions are very helpful in getting all the bubbles out. No lifting. Hope this helps someone else.

u/Choup17 · 1 pointr/galaxys10

Installed this last night:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PP9Q288?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Bubble free, round edges to match the slight curve and very easy install! I saw this recommended on xda forums and it has exceeded my expectations.

Edit: this was the second screen protector I purchased, did not like the "jumpy" brand at all (Amazon).

u/je-june · 1 pointr/galaxys10e

Amfilm $10

https://smile.amazon.com/amFilm-Protector-Tempered-Adhesive-Installation/dp/B07PP9Q288/

Comes with an alignment frame, almost impossible to screw it up.

Get this:
amFilm Glass Screen Protector for Galaxy S10e, Tempered Glass, Full Screen Adhesive, with Easy Installation Tray (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PP9Q288/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_I72ZCbSX5BDPJ

Fit is near perfect. Comes with a plastic case thingy to make the installation easy. Broke the screen protector after 3 days (phone fell acreen first on gravel). Thank God I had it.

u/wild_user_appeared · 1 pointr/galaxys10e

I have the amFilm one. Super easy to install with the included installation tray. But it has a black border around the sides which covers up a little bit of the screen. Had it for about two months and still no scratches which is nice.

Do you have any idea how it compares to this one from the same company? (Apart from the obvious value of a 3-pack)

u/phonicparty · 1 pointr/galaxys10

Nope!

Although I'm now using this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07PP9Q288/

It has a thinner black border than the other. Still no difference to image quality on the front camera that I can notice

u/TIFUbyResponding · 1 pointr/galaxys10

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PP9Q288/

I found this one to be the best, out of the half dozen or so I tried.

u/Arctic172nd · 1 pointr/galaxys10

I use this one with a spigen tough armor case with no issues.

u/echosaber88 · 1 pointr/galaxys10

I'm using this :

Not much of the side is lost from the black bezel since the phone is flat and it's also full adhesive.

This one is good. It's a bit of a pain to install but once installed you can't even tell it's there.

u/skmaria · 1 pointr/OnePlus7Pro

I personally think that we did shit while installing it lmao.

This is the one: Oneplus 7 Pro Tempered Glass Screen Protector,Fingerprint Scaner 3D Liquid Transparent Clear Full Curved Edge Case Friendly Anti-Scratch Coverage for Oneplus 7 Pro 2019-2 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RRVMX2Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_g7nuDbEXD574E

Finger print sensor and touch sensitivity are pretty good with it to be honest. Other than the lifting which is 100% our fault, I have really little complaints!

u/crkdslider · 1 pointr/dbrand

I'm currently using this one.

For the price it's pretty good, but I will be getting the Whitestone Dome protector next after this one.

u/misanthropicity · 1 pointr/OnePlus7Pro

I just looked yours up, and it seems similar to the one I used:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RRVMX2Z/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_xRsmDb4BWWXXP

Mine applied fine. I cured it with the UV light. It was perfect for about 24 hours. Today small bubbles started appearing and spreading throughout the day on a few of the edges. Are you having any issues like that?

u/MuseR- · 1 pointr/oneplus

I'm getting it tomorrow. I've heard really good things about it on xda. And it comes with 2 for 30 great value. Same as Whitestone dome

Just received mine and installed it today, basically a Whitestone without the fancy packaging and currently you can get a 2-pack for $30

u/toeburghz28 · 1 pointr/oneplus

I was using this one. I could understand how it could be a nice screen protector. But I had an astonishing amount of bubbles under the screen, and so much glue seeped into my speaker grill/charging port. I didn't even use the uv light so I didn't ruin the phone. Two times in a row.

u/postdochell · 1 pointr/OnePlus7Pro

I've had this one for a couple weeks and it's fantastic. Only complaint is the installation was somewhat difficult as it kept slowly sliding down before it had dried even though I'd done my best to make my desk level. So I had to carefully nudge it a little bit to keep it centered as it dried/cured/set whatever it's called with the UV light.

u/TribeFan98 · 1 pointr/oneplus

What I have on right now. I had a Whitestone Dome, which was nice, but after I dropped my phone I ordered this one, and it comes with 2 for almost half the price. Installation isn't quite as easy, but everything is of the same quality. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07RRVMX2Z?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image

I've had it on since end of June with no real issues. Minor bubbles on edge from pocket flexing but they can pushed on and go away. I feel like I screwed up the install on that spot though. I tried to clean up excess glue and pulled it out from behind screen. The I stall is not easy but it works great.

u/JAC556 · 0 pointsr/nexus6

I recently tried this one from amazon. Very pleased. As stated it doesn't cover the entire screen to avoid lift.

u/neuromonkey · 0 pointsr/GooglePixel

Seems like the perfect place to ask!

As /u/afjeep says, the Spigen gets good mentions.

I can definitely recommend that you NOT get the Zerolemon. It doesn't fit the curve at the edge of the screen, and leaves an 1/8" "halo" of un-adhered protector. It hasn't caused me any problems, but it isn't a good design.

I've never seen a fingerprint sensor protector. I don't think it's a capacitance sensor, and I suspect that it might not function if covered. I'll go cover mine with Saran Wrap and see if it works...

EDIT: Wow! It works! I'm amazed! It reads my fingerprint and swipes through a single layer of plastic wrap. It correctly rejected my other fingers, but responded to the ones I'd previously stored. When a little piece of the plastic folded over and created a bit of second layer, it stopped working. So. One layer good, two layers bad.
