I had to have a fasciotomy due to compartmental swelling to save my leg. So I don't know how many sutures you have.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H11D796 (not until a week after suture removal.) Otherwise I kept pressure with a long long ace bandage securely wrapped.

Best of luck man, it's a long road but we will get there.

How'd it happen?

edit: also it may be bs but I bought supplements for bone regeneration and take these everyday https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008HFUIAM

  • Water-soluble CBD tincture

  • Mattress topper — I had like 6 pillows that I put on my bed in different configurations, and could never get comfortable. I got a Zinus Swirl 3in, it's really soft though so probably not for everyone, and I'm down to just using a pillow for my head and a

  • Half-moon bolster pillow — great for putting behind your back/neck or under your knees, and they're way cheaper than most pillows.

  • Orthopedic house shoes — I've gone barefoot my whole life, so this one killed me, but my legs and feet hurt so much by the time I got done with breakfast that I couldn't do anything else, so it's definitely worth it.

  • no-show compression socks for foot pain, wish are really hard to find so I finally stocked up on these

  • Caddy/organizer to go beside my bed, has all my medicine, supplements, contacts/glasses, lotion, snacks, water, etc It keeps me from forgetting stuff, and if I feel really bad everything is right beside me, so it's easier to get started.

  • Bluelight app for phone, I use Night Shift. Really helps me avoid headaches/eye strain.

  • Ergonomic mouse/keyboard

  • Himalayan salt lamps — it doesn't really matter what kind of lamp they are I suppose, but the light from these is really soft.

  • Heating pad — has anyone found one that doesn't have a giant cord in the middle?

  • Electric milk frother — can be used for cold drinks/whipped cream or warming up cider, milk, the coffee I fell asleep drinking, etc. It takes like 15 seconds, and it's really easy to clean up.

  • Cold brew coffee/tea maker — I got one that uses a two quart mason jar, and I just put my coffee or tea in and have cold brew for the rest of the week.

  • Something to keep your food hot in case you get sick making it. Thermos brand seems to keep stuff hot for a really long time.

You should get knee-high/thigh-high compressions! I wear shorts with mine at home. I prefer the ones that stop at my ankles ("footless") because my house has slippery floors. I highly recommend the thigh highs, but they can bunch up under the knees and become uncomfortable (I sit on my legs or squeeze myself into my chair tho). They also have silicon circles at the top to hold onto your legs better, but I fold them outwards because they leave dents in me and make me itch, they also aren't really needed since they hold on pretty good anyway, otherwise I love them.

My feet swell the worst when I’m at my desk job during the week. Compression socks help me tremendously. I’ve bought a couple different pairs off Amazon (like these. I usually have little to no swelling on the weekends when I’m on my feet and more active.

they are like really tight knee high stockings. they help with circulation, prevent ankles from swelling when your on your feet all day, prevent vericose veins, etc. when i dont wear them to work, my calves and feet are all achy, but when i wear them i am pain free!

heres the wikipedia. it explains a little better how they work.

I would definitely suggest wearing compression socks like these. They really helped my feet not swell on my 11 hour international flight to Europe this summer.

I made sure to get up and walk up and down the isle once every hour or so. I also didn't keep any carry on luggage under the seat in front of me so I could stretch my feet under there and have a bit more room. It's good that you have an isle seat so you can move whenever you like.

Oh! And drink tons of water. I know it makes you have to pee more, but the recycled air on airplanes really dehydrates you, and your body will feel much better if you keep fluids down.

I'm sure your flight will be great! Good luck!

I use these compression socks. They work well and are so cute. Not too difficult to get on. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DYKNDL3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_TEhRBbABWVY7M

I was in the same situation a year ago. I started wearing compression socks and a soft cotton ankle/no show sock. The compression socks were good for improving circulation to my legs, but there is a lack of protection for your feet from friction in the shoe. The ankle sock worn over the compression stocking offered that layer of protection. This also cut down on blisters on the tops and bottoms of my feet, but will do little for blisters between toes. I found that gold bond between the toes helped during walks.

I also found that my feet toughened up over time and I don't need to take as many measures to prevent blisters anymore.

Hope this helps.

I'm currently wearing these https://www.amazon.com/Maternity-Compression-Stockings-Pregnancy-Guaranteed/dp/B07CNGGW7P
They're tightest on the foot and loosen as they go up your calf keeping the fluid from pooling. They work great, but you might need help getting them on.

I was told I need surgery as well. But I went to a Physical Therapist (for a completely different issue) and she showed me how to stretch my bunion toe. She said it's really important to maintain as much movement as possible. She also showed me how to tape my toe using KT tape while running, and to avoid hills which can aggravate it. I where spacers and orthotics (in my work shoes too), and when I get home I wear spacer socks. Wear wide shoes too. That helps relieve the pressure on the joint.

I ended up getting these too just because they were cheap. Haven't tried them out yet though.

Socks with butterflies sound so adorable! My hubby got me this in white with hearts. Turning heads everywhere I go run in them!

These are the type of stockings I mean.

Lunch box would be a good idea! Clinicals are typically 8 to 12 hours, so a lunch box and a good water bottle would be a nice gift.

I have this neoprene sack one. Its been good for the last few years but I have to jam stuff in some days if I use more than one container.

Do you specifically have bad knees or are you just looking for tips on avoiding fatigue? I wouldn't wear a knee sleeve unless I had specific knee issues, but I do swear by compression socks and I always wear them at EDC. These have been great for me over the years: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DXW9KWU/

Sweet, sure those look great. I found good benefit from nightly hot foot soaks with epsom salts - then throwing on the toe spreaders for a bit.

I started with small foams between each toe, then went to Pro-Tec spreaders which pushed a bit more, then yoga toes which push the most.

Couple other items to consider are Injinji socks - so you can get a bit of separation all day, and toe spreader socks which I wore at night for awhile:

Congrats on the good anatomy scan!

I wore compression stockings during a trip in September when I was on my feet a lot and getting a little swelling in my ankles. It took a couple days to get used to them, but then it was fine (and no swelling!).

My OB advised that the thigh-highs were more comfortable. He said that for my purposes (travel) I didn't need the kind where you get fitted at a medical supply place. And I didn't need something super-compressing. I ended up getting these.

Even though the compression level is weaker, they were still tight to put on the first few days. What I really liked was that the silicone beading did it's job: I never had a problem with them slipping down. They were super secure. And at least after a few washes, the silicone still worked fine.

Also, with a doctors "letter of medical necessity", they're FSA-eligible, if that's relevant.

I mostly run in nylon compression socks I got on amazon. They are $22 for a 6 pack

I got these. They go over the knee and are only light compression (15-20). That’s what my doctor recommended. I found the sizing chart to be quite accurate, just FYI.
