From what I can tell, they're these covers. Nice and cheap:

For dual 140 slots, I noticed Silverstone has a pretty nice-looking option, though it looks kinda restrictive for airflow:

I already ordered this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07HJBLMGW?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image because it can get here Monday. Thanks though!

u/gilbertsmith · 12 pointsr/pcmods

Could take a sewing needle or something about the same thickness and punch them out..

Edit: Failing that these look like a good match, just check the sizes: https://www.amazon.com/MoKo-120240mm-Computer-Magnetic-Dustproof/dp/B07R4WWX4W

I've never painted something like this before but the thought I just had was some kind of putty on the bottom side that fills the holes. Like 3d masking tape. Paint the top then peel the bottom layer off and you should have really nice clean holes.

u/ManyTube · 8 pointsr/gaming

That looks like the Antec 300 case (nice!) Those fan vents get DUSTY and they get a lot of dust sludge inside.

It might sound silly now, but I'd reccommend geting some of these http://www.amazon.com/Coolerguys-Aluminum-filter-120mm-black/dp/B0009YFS4A/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1317733610&sr=1-6 and putting them across the vents.

It might sound silly now but you'll be happy you did later.

Personally - I'd even consider putting them on the outside so you have an easier time of cleaning them. (Though unless you take them apart, they'll look a bit like ass)

You only need them on the air intakes.

u/Two-Tone- · 7 pointsr/techsupportmacgyver

To solve the dust issue with that, buy one of these and cut it to fit. https://www.amazon.com/140mm-Magnetic-Frame-Filter-Computer/dp/B077CR74LL/

I had to do something similar with my old HP/Compaq Mini 110c. It only had one vent which effectively killed its ability to properly cool the shitty, single core Atom processor. It would actually throttle because it'd get so hot. An Intel Atom would throttle because of badly designed cooling.

I added a couple small holes to the bottom where the fan was to act as exhaust and its temps dropped substantially.

---

I gave it to a friend a couple years ago, but I miss it. It was so weak that all I could do was use it to program and work on. There was nothing to distract me.

u/wongstongs · 6 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

I cut the front panel wide open and put one of these over the hole https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07R4WWX4W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Used a dremel to do it, reduced temps by 20-25F.

4 140mm magnetic dust filters for $10.98

Versus

12 140mm dust filters for $6.99 and 25 feet of magnetic tape for $10.95. You would need about 22 feet (140mm x 4 sides x 12 filters = 6720mm/265 inches) so 25 feet is recommended.

To get 12 filters, you would spend $32.94 for the premade stuff versus $17.94 for the DIY option. That's some damn good savings OP.

u/DZCreeper · 4 pointsr/watercooling

Your lack of airflow is hurting temps more than the 120mm AIO.

Get a 120mm dust filter and throw another intake fan on the bottom. Run the front as intake as well instead of exhaust. Put both the tops as exhaust. Also swap the radiator fan for something that performs better.

If you still have temperature issues then a custom loop is possible for $300. An EK Fluid Gaming A240 would do the trick. Just FYI, the performance isn't much better than a 240mm AIO with good fans though.

dust filters are a thing you know ;P

For about 25 dollars you can get your case nearly dust free
just byuy 2 sets of this in the sizes you need.
Probably cheaper if you look around as well, this is the first result I found but I'm not in the US.

Your cable management is bad and you should feel bad.

If you stick one of these on top of the fan, it will prevent cables from fouling it up: http://www.amazon.com/120mm-Fan-Grill-Guard-Black/dp/B005VRK5YS

u/faizimam · 3 pointsr/sffpc

not that big a deal, you can buy this kind of magnetic dust cover to fit outside, or even insert under the fans inside:

https://www.amazon.com/140mm-Magnetic-Frame-Filter-Computer/dp/B07BXYWJ9K

Its bad case design, but nothing you can't mod around.

u/dogeatdawg · 2 pointsr/buildapc

You can buy the filter material in rolls or in specific fan sizes. Here is one type of roll.

This is a bit thicker of a filter.

Here is a filter cut to 120mm fan size.

It doesn't even have to be PC-specific, just fine enough to capture dust.

u/Gekko12482 · 2 pointsr/sffpc

You can just cut circles with a dremel and drill 4 holes for the fan screws. If the cut is ugly you can use rubber trim to hide the edges. You can use a fan grill to protect the fan and additionally hide any irregularities in the hole shape. So in short, you can mess up and still make it look good with 2 accessories

So far so good! I took out the hard drive cages since I didn't need them and unfortunately there aren't dust filters on the bottom (probably because most people still use hard drives).

Instead, I got two of these: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KHO0I38 (I bought more fans too, the $12 Cooler Master 4-pack). The fit isn't exact, but at least it'll prevent dust. I liked it enough that I got another for the 140mm rear exhaust fan: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KHO0CZW No dust is getting in my new case!

u/TrMark · 2 pointsr/buildapc

If you have the money to spare I would suggest buying some proper dust filters that screw into the case, I wouldn't risk it with gauze that may restrict airflow or even cause more problems than its worth with lint. Depending on the size of the holes of the wire mesh that may be good or useless.

Here are some dust filters that would be good if you can spare the money. Although I can't find a single one that would go over the two 120mm spaces on your case but you can buy the single 120mm covers pretty cheap and they screw in on the inside of the case so you wont even notice them from the outside.

I saw that video too, which inspired me to do the mods to mine! I bought these filters (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077CSMDDT/) because I couldn't find a single filter that covered all 3 fans. I have 3 filters overlapping across the fans and this arrangement seems to work fine. They're fairly rigid and are in no danger of being sucked into the fans, either!

I was originally going to add the spacers for the front panel, too, but ended up not wanting to bother with it; I'd have to figure out the specific threading to use for new bolts and then find the appropriate-length spacers. Instead I just removed the front panel and I leave it aside when the machine is on, and I just carefully hang it on the front of the case when it's off. This works just fine, and the PC is in a cubby underneath a desk so it doesn't matter what it looks like.

u/MrPutey · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I bought mine in my local computer store (I got the cheapest available), so something like this this should be ok.

u/DarkLiterally · 2 pointsr/buildapc

You really dont want to do the holes and an extra filter behind it because that acts like a double barrier and still impedes airflow almost as much.

There are tons of airflow mods for that case on youtube and if you are super uncomfortable with just removing the front panel i'd suggest just taking a saw and sawing out the "mesh" holes where the fans are so its completely open and then just having a magnetic dust filter for the front like https://www.amazon.com/140mm-Magnetic-Frame-Filter-Computer/dp/B07BXYWJ9K/ref=asc_df_B07BXYWJ9K/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309833041189&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13686601796999302722&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9019076&hvtargid=pla-570601742298&psc=1

u/clupean · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Remove the top exhaust, leave only the 2x front intake and 1x rear exhaust.

Add ultra-fine fan filters (like the ones used for indoor AC units) under your current filters.
This picture shows the difference between the two types of filters.

Hopefully you'll only have to clean the filters every two weeks or so and the inside of the case should remain clean. Note that if you still find very fine particles of dust inside the case then the only way is to add an air purifier.

Fair enough. Have you thought about making your own mesh panels. You could buy something like this

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VBD67DL/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_gBE3DbDE7KEV8

You would just have to build a frame and then you could attach magnets to it to secure it to the case. Don't know how you would feel about that, but most likely would be less than $50 bucks.

Edit:. Found a post specifically about this issue.

If you want to keep dust out of your electronics there are more efficient ways of doing it that using a respirator cannister.

https://www.amazon.com/Computer-Filter-Grills-Screws-Aluminum/dp/B07Z4Z3SZM/ref=sr_1_15?keywords=60mm+fan+filter&qid=1574010342&sr=8-15

If you want to maker it yourself, it's not hard and it's going to be more efficient that what you've designed plus provide more cooling since it will be able to move more air.

I'm not entirely convinced that your electronics require organic vapor filtering. (I'm joking).

u/TransientBananaBread · 1 pointr/buildapc

A couple of things:

  1. My original comment actually only applies to dual fan filters. For single fan filters they have a square filter or round filter.

  2. If you look at the dimensions in the second picture, it is larger than 140mm in one direction which is what is likely causing you issues. This Thermaltake filter is 140x140mm so it will fit flush over a single fan. I personally own that filter and a 120mm version and it's pretty good.
u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/techsupport

I live in cleveland with hard water. Seems odd to me.

I'm going to suggest making certain you have positive pressure on your air flow; more air wanting to come in than out. This means air will only come in from where the fans are sucking air in. Next google and choose filters of your liking. I use fun tact to hold the linked below dust screens. My dust issues are pets and city air.

You may wish to consider that salt is corrosive. You may wish to trade off one dust for the other. Even with some filtering and positive pressure the salt can be an issue. Weigh this against how long you figure you will keep the computer and computer case. You may also, if you are ok with spending a bit more, going liquid cooled. You can have sealed case with a radiator moving filtered air.

It might seem gross; but have you tasted the dust to test for saltiness?

Not at all. I hadn't tried to do a pcpartpicker list for it, so I had to make one up. My build is https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GxpJsZ + Silverstone FTZ01B case + Silverstone FF121B x 3. I went back and forth between getting a 3900X and dialing back the PPT or getting a 3700X and cranking it up. I finally decided I couldn't justify the 3900X for my planned usage. The MSI RTX 2070 Super card is a stand in for the NVidia version I'm actually using.

The Meshify C is too big, the Dan Case has crap cooling (where would a fan go anyway?), and none of the other cases on the market do it for me.

I've spent way more time on this than I should have. This is inspired by the Meshify C, the Dan Case and the DIY Perks MDF case.

You should be able to do this with some MDF and some patience. While the dimensions aren't perfect, the final product should be around 12.3L, which is as small as it gets for having space for two 2.5" drives behind the MB, 2 platter drives, the best GPUs on the market, a CD-ROM, and the best cooling that you can get (no compromises).

You could easily shrink it down by nixing the CD Rom and the two HDs, if you've no use for them.

Amazon or wherever, these are those fine filters, they're almost like nylons or something, they collect everything.

Here are less fine filters but super cheap.

Foam ones are like this.

The better the filter, the cleaner your case will be, but the more often you'll have to clean filters, and the worse your airflow will be (especially if they get dirty).

My temps were pretty good on carpet though, and I never noticed any buildup of carpet stuff, just the regular dust on the edge of fan blades and stuff.

u/ChimairaSpawn · 1 pointr/buildapc

I mean, It might be good for larger stuff like pet hair, but normal dust could probably get in.

I know it's not custom but I did find this pretty sweet deal on amazon

u/Ukeee · 1 pointr/buildapc

Not much you can do with dusts to be honest, it'll always get in every nook and cranny of a case.

You just have to clean your case every once in awhile when it starts to get dusty.

My only advice is getting those dust filters for fans to try and mitigate dust entering the case, not sure how good it'll hold up in your case though

u/OmegaResNovae · 1 pointr/Amd

Aside from all the other comments, if you don't care much about looks and your case is just wide enough, you could rig another 1-2 120mm or 140mm fans to blow directly towards the blower intake fans, using something like this fan bracket or similar, just to force a bit more air in between the gaps.

Alternatively, cutting out a 120mm or 140mm fan opening on the side panel over the GPUs, and just putting one of those fan filters over the hole on the outside, and the fan on the inner side. Noctua makes a nice 120mm x 15mm slim fan that would do nicely for such a purpose.

u/ironfixxxer · 1 pointr/buildapc

That would work. Or just get something like this assuming you've covering 120mm fan intakes.
