I worked at a theaterpub and got to work on developing the popcorn process for the theater. The best theater popcorn uses a coconut oil base as the popping fat. You want to use pure coconut oil or get a product like this or this. These products are primarily coconut oil with annatto for coloring, and they are solid at room temperature. They are better than regular oils or butter flavored liquid popping oil because the coconut oil tastes richer and more unctuous.

You also want to get Flavacol popcorn salt. This is a commercial product, and I've never seen it offered in retail, but you can get it from Amazon. Flavacol is a superfine powdered salt with butter flavoring and annatto. It's a finer grind than the popcorn salt sold in grocery stores. When you make popcorn, you add the coconut oil to the pot, heat it up, then add the popcorn and the Flavacol. It sticks to the kernels as they pop, and the popcorn doesn't need to be salted after popping.

Finally, the butter. You can't use just straight melted butter, because the water fraction of the butter will soak into the popcorn and make it soggy. You need to use clarified butter. Melt a pound or so of butter in a pot on the stove, and let it simmer for awhile. You want to let the water underneath the butterfat reduce and boil away, but you don't want to let all of it boil away or the butter will burn. You want to allow the milk sugar in the water to begin to caramelize. This will flavor the butterfat with a wonderful, nutty aroma. Once that happens, let the butter cool, then pour off the fat. Use this clarified butter to butter your popcorn. It won't make the kernels soggy. You can refrigerate any leftover butter tightly sealed for next time.

Once you have butter on the popcorn, you can add flavorings. But anything you use needs to be very finely pulverized. That's why Kraft-style powdered cheese is so popular. Even powdered parmesan cheese like you get in the green can is too coarse to really stick, but you can pulverize it finer in a food processor.

One of my favorite seasonings is bacon, cheese and chive. The bacon needs to be fried crisp and drained well, then frozen before processing. You can't get it quite as fine as parmesan before it balls up, but you can get it close enough. Then pulverize some good parmesan, Reggiano or Grana Padana. Mix together the bacon and parmesan with some Kraft-style powdered cheese, dehydrated chives, black pepper, cayenne and a hint of garlic powder to taste. You can add a little cornstarch to this mixture to keep it from clumping.

If you like popcorn, you should try mushroom popcorn which pops up rounder. It's not my personal favorite, but it's used by lots of kettle corn companies, and the shape is distinctive.

Here's a good recipe for butter toffee popcorn. It's better than caramel corn, because butter, and the candy coating is more crispy. This recipe includes peanuts, so it's like Cracker Jack, only better. I've made this with alder smoked salt and toasted chopped almonds/pecans instead of peanuts, and it's a big hit. Sort of like smokehouse almonds with caramel corn.

uh.... no.... There is more to it than that.

1st most restaurants don't use butter they use a buttery oil like whirl or similar. It tastes totally different and is the restaurant flavor people are talking about. You can't even buy this stuff in the store (why i don't know) This is the "secret sauce" most people don't know about. It's normally used on all grilled buns and stuff like mushrooms and veggies or anything cooked on a flat top. Ask someone who works there and they will tell you all about the buttery oil.. (ps.. that stuff with crushed garlic is amazing.) Is this stuff healthy .. oh hell no. lol

2nd to have your stuff taste like a restaurant more so than even the butter oil they use it's almost about thinking how a cook would. What's that mean... Being busy and not giving a dam half the time. How do they get that char? .. they have a really hot surface thats already been on then throw the item on it and do something else. Most home cooks basically touch the food to much. They get to mixing and stuff when in reality you just let it sit there and toss it maybe once or twice. It's a really nasty habit to break when your cooking for your self.

TL;DR
So .. if you want your food to taste like most food joints. .. get you some whirl and stop moving your food around when you cook it.

Why did you pick Coconut Oil? While it does all the things you mention, it has safer alternatives that are just as good. Mainly Coconut Oil is comedogenic (https://www.beneficialbotanicals.com/facts-figures/comedogenic-rating.html), high rate of clogging skin pores, and generally can cause more problems to skin than solve for some people. Most suggested oils from /r/SkincareAddiction are: Jojoba Oil (but also is a little comedogenic), Neem Oil, Hemp Oil (0 comedogenic). All these oils also have moisturizing, anti inflammatory, anti redness, etc.. benefits.

2.Price

1 ounce for 14$ at your shop, or something off Amazon, 16 ounces for 8 bucks. Yes, a cooking oil can be used topically, it's the same.

3."Uses of Oil", some sentences have words like "seem" which sounds like you guys don't even know about the product. Anti-Cancer, sounds so fishy, don't think there's enough evidence for that. Generally refine the page, also add more content, coconut oil can do much more. Anti-inflammatory, don't think main usage will be against bug bites, but more commonly skin redness, acne, etc.

Then the "How to use coconut oil" section, either remove it at all or rewrite with some actual guides, how to store (because it starts melting at around 24 celsius degrees), etc.

Sure! Here is what I personally do for that picture:

  1. Weigh your Nutribullet cup & blade (or whatever blender you have). For example, the Nutribullet Rx 45 oz blender cup and the blade together weigh 720.5 grams.

  2. Pour 375 grams of cold water in Nutribullet Rx 45 oz blender cup.

  3. Add 5 packets of Splenda (Only because I’m using the Base Powder, which means I have to add my own sweetener) (And yes, I made the mistake of not knowing I needed to add sweetener a few times; my god that tasted awful.)

  4. Add 70 grams of Keto Chow Base Powder (5 servings)

  5. Add 150 grams of MyProtein Salted Caramel Together with the peanut butter, it will be roughly 25g protein for each of the 5 KC servings. (If you're using the pre-flavored Keto Chow, of course replace all of these 3 steps with just a single step of adding KC powder. Then re-calculate calories accordingly for how much avocado oil is needed.)

  6. Add 104 grams of Chosen Foods Avocado Oil (Adjust this up or down depending on how many calories you want.)

  7. Add 60 grams of Peter Pan Peanut Butter (200 calories per 32g serving) (Any peanut butter will do; this one is just cheap.) Note that this is less than 2 servings for 5 meals of Keto Chow. This helps to a) keep the net carbs and sugar down but b) still taste amazing!

  8. Add another 375 grams of water on top of all the ingredients. Water on the bottom AND the top helps to blend really well. Blend it all up for a smooooooth silky texture.

  9. I calculated everything so it would be exactly 2000 calories for 5 meals. So therefore, each meal is 400 calories. The macros per meal are 28.72g fat | 3.9g net carb | 25.85g protein | $2.60. Not bad for $2.60, right?

  10. Now, as to how to pour it out so each serving is the same, as in the picture with all the nalgene bottles: Weigh the full blender and subtract the weight of the cup & blade alone (from step 1). For example, if my entire blender pitcher weighs 1870.5 grams, and the empty cup & blade weigh 720.5g, that means there is 1870.5 - 720.5 = 1150 grams of liquid. 2000 calories divided by 1150 grams of liquid = 1.74 calories per gram. If I want to measure out 400 calories, then that is just 400/1.74 = 230g liquid. So I measure 230g blended liquid into 4 containers. For the last one, I have to pour, add a little water to blender, close it, shake, pour it back in, repeat once more. I do this just to get every last calorie out! I also add 50-100g water to each nalgene bottle because I blend it a little thicker than I like just so that it fits in the Nutribullet. Then of course put the bottles in the fridge overnight like normal for easy grab and go in the morning.

  11. Adjust the avocado oil (or any of the ingredients) however you like to match whatever calorie target you want. I want 400 calories per meal, but you might 450 or 500 or 600, etc.

  12. [Edit]: To clarify, I only have 2 of these 5 meals per work-day Monday through Friday. I have one 400 calorie meal for breakfast, and one 400 calorie meal for lunch, Monday through Friday at work. I make 5 meals on Sunday (2000 calories) and that lasts me for Monday’s breakfast & lunch, Tuesday’s breakfast & lunch, and 1 leftover for Wednesday’s breakfast. I then blend 5 more KC meals on Tuesday night so that I have 1 more meal for Wednesday’s lunch, Thursday’s breakfast & lunch, and Friday’s breakfast & lunch. So then I have a total of 800 calories (actually 830 because of 2 fish oil capsules) before a normal physical keto food dinner each weeknight with my girlfriend since she likes to actually eat with me for dinner! (She DOES do KC for breakfast and lunch during the work-week too though, just like me, but she likes actually eating dinner!)

    Anyway, that's how I make my Keto Chow! It might seem like a lot of work. HOWEVER, doing it this way, I only have to do it twice per week, since that makes 10 meals and I only have it for breakfast/lunch during the work-week Monday through Friday. And once you make your Keto Chow in bulk in a blender, you won't go back. It's so silky smooth, and blended together with the peanut butter, mind-blowingly delicious! Pretty freaking amazing for $2.60 per meal! I have lost about 45 lb doing this and have almost 8% body fat. And I have the abs to prove it, thanks to Keto Chow! (NSFW!) ;)

I wrote up a one page guide for someone who wanted to wanted to try prostate massage with her husband. I've included it below. I should point out that the cleansing part is totally optional. If she doesn't care about getting a fleck of poop on her finger, or you get the suggested Nitrile exam gloves, then I wouldn't bother with it. Feel free to ask questions here or via PM if you'd like.

First, a few words about human anatomy and physiology...

If your guy has no anal play experience, he needs to learn to relax his anus so that you can get a finger or toy in there without pain. Secondly, once you are able to get past his anus, he will very likely feel conflicting sensations of pleasure and the need to defecate. So, a little work needs to be done before the fun can really begin.

The human anus is actually comprised of two circular muscles, or sphincters. The outer sphincter you have voluntary control of. However, you do not have voluntary control of your inner sphincter because it is controlled by the autonomic nervous system, which unconsciously controls other bodily functions like heart rate. This arrangement is a very clever fault-tolerant mechanism to reliably control defecation.

So, while he can control his outer sphincter, gaining control of the inner sphincter will take a bit of training. Initially, his body will associate sensations from the inner sphincter with the need to defecate, so he will need to train himself to also associate these sensations with pleasure through relaxation and arousal before you can attempt any kind of penetration. A good way to do this is with a small silicone butt plug, some really good water-based (i.e., not silicone based) lube and some time and patience.

With butt plug and lube on-hand, start by lubing up his anus and the butt plug, then use gentle but constant pressure to slowly insert the butt-plug past his anus and into his rectum. Again, he needs to be very relaxed and preferably aroused before you'll be able to get the butt plug in without experiencing pain. It's probably best to attempt this while he receives a hand job and/or blow job. Once you get it in, he may very well feel like he needs to defecate. As I mentioned above, this is totally normal, so it's always best to do this within a few hours after he last pooped. This way he'll know that these feelings are false and can just power through them. Once the butt plug is in, just leave it there and continue to keep him aroused. It may very well take multiple sessions before he is comfortable with the butt plug inserted and starts to feel pleasure. This is the time and patience part of the training.

A word of caution: this can, and should be done without any pain. If he feels any pain, stop whatever you're doing and reassess the situation. While there is a great deal of opportunity for pleasure with anal play, there is also a chance that it will be painful for him, or worse, cause some damage to some very delicate tissue. So, go slow and make sure you know what you're doing before proceeding.

Early Preparation:

  • You'll need really good lube meant for anal play. Sliquid Silk (amazon link) and Sliquid Sassy (amazon link) are excellent examples of water-based lubes designed for this purpose. Coconut oil is great too, but it is a bit messy, so put down towels before you open the jar. Some people even put down painter's plastic sheeting beforehand. I’ve found Kelapo Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (amazon link), to be excellent. Protip: There is nothing better for hand-jobs than coconut oil.

  • If you decide to try Coconut oil, it will usually come in a wide-mouth jar, which can be cumbersome to handle once the fun starts. So, consider moving the oil to a liquid-tight container like this one or an old lube dispenser that has been thoroughly cleaned. Transfer can be done by first immersing the sealed jar in a sink full of hot water to liquefy the oil first. A secondary benefit of transferring the oil to a new container is the chance of contaminating the oil is much lower.

  • If you decide to use a different lube, try to avoid ones that contain any parabens (e.g., methylparaben, ethylparaben & propylparaben) as they seem to exhibit weak endocrine disruption properties. In addition, a small percentage of people are also allergic to parabens and get contact dermatitis when exposed to it. Ever get a rash from poison ivy? Same thing. Although pretty benign, Glycerin should also be avoided because it can act as a laxative.

  • If you're squeamish about the possibility of getting a bit of poop on your finger, buy suitable nitrile (not latex) exam gloves like these.

  • Another option for those that want to minimize the risk of poop messing up the festivities is to get yourself an eight ounce rectal syringe from the local pharmacy or Amazon (amazon link) to flush out any poop in the rectum. Instructions for use are below.

  • Trim fingernail(s) short and make sure there are no sharp edges. This is super important.

  • Optionally, get yourself some sugarless Metamucil and follow the directions on the container for several days beforehand. The psyllium fiber in the Metamucil will encapsulate digested food so very little feces is left in the rectum once you poop. This can really help if your diet is low in fiber.

    Pre-fun Preparation:

  • If you purchased the rectal syringe mentioned above, about a half-hour before the fun commences, fill the syringe with lukewarm water (it shouldn't feel very warm to the touch). This can be accomplished by squeezing the bulb, dipping the tip into your source of water, releasing the bulb and let it fill up with water, then tip the syringe up and squeeze the bulb again until water just starts to squirt out. While water is squirting out, quickly dip the tip back into the water and release the bulb. Repeat this process until the syringe is full of water with no air inside. Lube up your anus and the tip, and while sitting on the toilet, gently insert the tip all the way in and then gently (you don't want to squirt water up too far) squeeze the bulb until it's nearly empty and then slowly pull it out. You can then expel the water and any poop fragments. Repeat until the expelled water runs clear. This sounds involved, but can be done in a few minutes once you get the hang of it. Optimally, this procedure should be done shortly after pooping.

  • Have him pee beforehand. His bladder is just above his prostate (i.e., further in), and it might be uncomfortable for him if you hit his full bladder with your finger.

    Now for the fun part:

  • You need to get him very aroused, which will engorge his prostate as it prepares for ejaculation. This will make it much easier to palpate through the rectal wall, and will also increase the amount of pleasure once you locate it.

  • Have him lie on his back with his knees bent, or have him hug his legs for better access. Having him on his back will give you access to his penis for the optional hand-job and/or blow-job

  • Lube up his anus and your finger and then slowly insert your finger into his anus, adding lube as needed. If you feel resistance to the point of any pain, then he’s not relaxed enough and you need to stop until he is relaxed.

  • Once you’re in, he may feel like he needs to poop. This is normal and will (hopefully) pass.

  • Once you're in as far as you can get, start gently feeling around the anterior wall of his rectum, toward his genitals, for a lump of tissue that is firmer than everything else. It will be one to two inches in.

  • Once he gasps and starts moaning from the pleasure, you found it :-) If you can’t find it, he is likely not aroused enough, so give him a blow-job or hand-job to help you locate it.

  • Now experiment with the position, motion and amount of pressure to maximize pleasure. Some guys won’t like direct stimulation, so move to either side of the prostate.

  • At this point, he could have a diamond-cutter of an erection, or go totally limp. He might enjoy a hand job, or just want to concentrate on the back door feelings. It varies from guy to guy, so experiment for best results. For me, penile stimulation and prostate stimulation are both pleasurable, but different and conflicting sensations, so I like to enjoy prostate stimulation followed by penile stimulation. Again, your guy may be different and want them simultaneously.

Empties:

  • Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser- I loooooooove this cleanser, not a HG item since it's not like it works miracles on my skin or anything, but it doesn't irritate or break me out or any of the stuff that usually happens to my skin.
  • Josie Maran Argan Oil- I know, I know. It's overpriced. But it's so easy to pick up a little $10 (or $14? I can't remember) bottle when in line at Sephora. I don't think I'll be repurchasing because I might have found a replacement.
  • Coconut oil- My skin (on my body) loves this shit. Baby soft err'day. And my hair drinks it up too. I haven't had a haircut in almost a year and this helps my postpone my haircut until I decide what I want to do with it.
  • Sample of F.A.B Ultra Repair Cream- It's okay. I didn't irritate my skin or cause a breakout, and it moisturized my skin well without feeling greasy, but it feels too plain for the price.

    Purchases

  • Nuetrogena Naturals Purifying Face Wash- I hate this shit. My face hates it. Even my sister (who isn't at all into skincare and will basically use whatever is in the bathroom) hates it. It irritated my skin and seriously dried out my sisters face.

  • St Ives Exfoliating Pads- They're very gentle. Brighten my skin overall, but do almost nothing for my post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. These irritated my sister's skin, which is strange because her skin hardly ever gets irritated, but maybe because it was her first time using any sort of chemical exfoliation (she's 17, I'm not forcing skincare products onto a 6 or 7 year old).

  • Stridex Maximum Strength pads (red box)- I haven't worked up the courage to use these on my face, put they do a pretty good job with my bacne! At first I was like "fuck this shit" because after I used them on my back a few days, I started getting these big cystic pimples. I attributed them to the Stridex and just tossed them with the rest of the skincare rejects under my sink. But because I'm stupid and am not one to learn her lesson the first time, I tried them again. And tada, they worked and didn't cause big red angry bumps. I'm still not sure what caused them the first time.

  • Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel- I wash my face with this when I feel that raw honey won't be enough. I like the way it feels and smells, and it doesn't irritate my skin.

  • More Raw Honey- Probably tied with Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser for my favorite cleanser. I love the way it leaves my skin moisturized and soft.

  • Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask!!!- I'm excited I finally bought something that's talked about on the sub. I just got his two days ago. Spot tested it on my chin, no bad reaction, so I tried it on my forehead and nose yesterday. No big improvement, but I like the way it feels. I also think it brought some of the little bumps on my forehead to a head, so I popped those little suckers this morning. (sorry for the gross imagery, I'm a picker, I can't help it)

  • Last, but not least... Hemp Oil <3 - I got it as a replacement for jojoba oil since it had a zero on the comedogenic scale (I don't know why I still really check it since something could be an absolute zero on the scale and still fuck my face up). I mixed it with some coconut oil when I got it, and oh my sweet god, it was the best body moisturizer ever. The richness of the coconut oil and the lightness of the hemp oil combined perfectly to create heavenly soft skin on my legs. I'm still not sure if I like it on my face ( I like the way it feels but I'm not sure if its clogging my pores). I decided to drink some in my smoothies at the same time I decided to try it on my face, and I broke out in a small rash/whiteheads around my mouth and chin area. This happens whenever I try to take any sort of Omega supplements, and I'm not sure why. :(

    TL;DR: I'm sorry this is so long. I buy and try a lot of things.

Cavender's sounds great on popcorn. I'll have to try that. I tend to like it prepared movie theater style - coconut oil, flavacol and fake butter. Cooked in a aluminum bowl with aluminum foil over the top and holes punched in the foil to let the steam escape.

This way is pretty good too....

Big ups to my friend Ren, who is the single hardcorest Yurucamp fan I know, for providing advice and involving a friend of hers who made this for their own Yurucamp re-enactment last winter. Original recipe: https://cookpad.com/recipe/5012229

I hate it when recipe bloggers do their life story before the recipe. Here's what you came for, extra info follows thereafter. Amazon links to harder-to-find goods included, but you can find this stuff at any decent Asian market. All I'm going to say is that if you like cooking and you like Yurucamp, you absolutely have to try this before you die.

INGREDIENTS

1 tbsp sesame oil

1 tbsp (or more) chili garlic oil/chili oil/rayu/etc.

1 clove garlic, minced or pressed

1" peeled fresh ginger, minced (or if you have it, 1 teaspoon of ginger paste)

1/4 lb ground pork (we omitted this due to medical dietary concerns)

1 tbsp doubanjiang (You can double this if you like it really spicy

1 1/4 cups cold water

1/4 pound tofu, cut into 1/2" cubes (doesn't have to be perfect)

4 tbsp goma shabu/sesame dipping sauce (If you understandably don't want to pay $20 for this, you can make it yourself - this looks like it's easy enough to do using tahini as a base)

2 packets miso ramen flavoring from ramen packets (if you can get it from a local Asian market, get the kind that comes with the fresh [not freeze-dried] noodles so you can cook the noodles in the broth, otherwise substitute with 2 tbsp white miso paste, 1 tbsp soy sauce, and a little bit of sake or dry white wine)

1 tsp chicken bouillon/stock powder (I use and highly recommend Better than Bouillon paste, it's lower in sodium and lasts forever in the fridge)

4 leaves Napa cabbage, thick white parts cut out from the leaves

A handful of bean sprouts

Fresh mushrooms (We usually use enoki and shitake, but if you don't have access to those, regular button mushrooms or baby bella will work fine)

Scallions, sliced into 3" sections (Don't use leeks, they're not the same, but if you can get access to Tokyo negi/naga negi, that's the real stuff)

Pork gyoza or similar potstickers, thawed to room temperature or fresh and not frozen (as many as you can fit around the rim)

  1. Cut the cabbage into thin slices. Keep the white core parts separate from the green leafy parts.
  2. Cut the roots off of the mushrooms if they have them, remove stems from shitake/button/baby bella.
  3. Heat a nabe pot or stock pot over medium-high heat. When hot, add the sesame oil and swirl to coat.
  4. Add the garlic and ginger to the oil. Stir, cooking until fully aromatic (1-2 minutes at most)
  5. Add the ground pork, stirring to break up chunks. Cook it until it's cooked all the way through and no longer pink.
  6. Add the doubanjiang and stir to coat. Cook for a minute, stirring constantly.
  7. Add the water and increase the heat to medium-high. Bring to a boil.
  8. Add the goma shabu, chicken stock, miso ramen flavoring/substitute paste, and chicken stock. Stir well and bring to a boil.
  9. Put the tofu, mushrooms, white parts of the cabbage, and dumplings into the pot. Cover, lower the heat to medium, and cook for 3 minutes.
  10. Put the scallions, green cabbage parts, and bean sprouts into the pot, cover, and cook for 3 minutes more.
  11. Top with chili oil/chili garlic oil. Serve it up, and save some of the broth to cook noodles in to finish it off.

    This can't be beat served in a nabe pot over a portable gas burner, family-style, but you can easily just do this in a normal pot. I doubled the recipe to feed four people, and used some different toppings/ingredients. It scales up well, just make sure you don't go over the rim of your pot.

    In terms of quantity of toppings, ;ess is more, and I found this out the hard way. Don't overload with everything, you can easily just use half of what you prep and add more to cook after everyone takes their first share. Also, the dumplings tend to fall apart if cooked too long, so go for them first.

  • Shoe trees - Jos. A Bank has sales. Look at Nordstrom Rack too.
  • Lexol conditioner
  • Venetian shoe cream (though lots of people swear by coconut oil)
  • Damp cloth (pretty sure you have one already)

    Put shoe trees in them whenever they're not in use. Don't wear them everyday. Let them sit with shoe trees in for a day after you wear them before wearing them again.

    Once a month, maybe once every 3 months, do this: Wipe shoes down with damp cloth, apply conditioner, let sit for a while. If you're happy with how they look, you're done! If you're not, apply the venetian shoe cream or coconut oil. Rub in until it's got the kind of shine you want.

My general rule is to try not to exceed a dollar a pound for food, but of course there are some exceptions.And stockpile when prices are good - it's really hard to switch all at once to a new diet on a budget, because you end up having to pay full retail costs for everything. Once you start stocking up though, the costs keep dropping as more and more of what you eat comes from deals you found.

A couple months ago, I got a gallon of organic coconut oil on sale for $17.50, free shipping with amazon prime. I see it's gone up some, now it's $23.39. Looking at the site, I see that's the price for 1 gallon, but if you get two gallons, it's $247. (WTF?) It's not virgin, but if you're okay with coconut oil that's slept around a bit, it's a good deal.

I make my own yogurt, so it's just the cost of milk, $1.99 per gallon give or take. Once you start making it, you can share in the collective outrage of DIY yogurt people at the $1 per 5-6 oz price stores charge for milk, just because they let it ferment for a day.

A few years back, chia seeds were $10 for a 1 pound jar at walgreens in a black friday deal, but you also got $10 in store credit when you bought them, so kindasorta free. The same week they had some other items that were ten dollars, but free after store credit too. We have approximately 50,000 walgreens within biking distance of my house, I just pedaled from one to another flipping the deals back and forth, and stockpiled the chia seeds, gave some to my daughter, and the rest haven't gone off yet. They seem to last a long time. :)

Flax seeds I stocked on up when they were $1.29 a pound in a manager's special.

Hummus - I buy dried chickpeas and make my own, so it's maybe 50 cents for a pound of hummus after you add in some other ingredients.

This week campari tomatoes are free at meijer after using a coupon so I got two pounds.

Generally, for fruits, vegetables, and chicken and pork I try to stick to $1 a pound. Sometimes for beef I go up to $2 a pound.

Make sure you find refined avocado oil. There is a lot of "virgin" avocado oil out there that has a significantly lower smoke point - around 375F. That stuff is great for your salad dressing, but not what you want for searing.

If you've only tried virgin coconut oil (which is most of what you'll find in stores) you'll probably be surprised by some refined coconut oil. I get [this stuff]

It doesn't taste or smell of coconut at all.

I just use a tiny dot of coconut oil and rub it on my fingers until they are just barely shiny, then once my ends are dry, I lightly toss around my ends in my fingers. It's soooo easy to go overboard with coconut oil. And yea, what Mechiko said, you will want to cry trying to get the stuff out with traditional no-poo techniques. :/

Also, this is the oil I use, I usually use 1 tub for cooking and 1 tub for beauty reasons. I've gone through 3 tubs for cooking so far, but my beauty tub is still 90% full and I've been using it for almost a year now. All right here goes. I adapted the oil recipe from an old post on /r/treedibles by a guy who claimed to be a biochemistry student. I had it saved but it looks like it may have been deleted because I can't find it anymore.

Anyhoozle...

Ingredients:

  • Coconut oil: You can look around on the internet for reasons that coconut oil is preferred, but basically it comes down to it being almost 100% saturated fat, which is the best for cannabinoid absorption.
  • Cannabis: You can really use whatever form you want. The batch I had the best success with was 1oz of trim/shake and ~1/4oz of AVB. I like trim and shake because it's cheaper and it came pre-ground, so it meant less grinding for me. Note that this was before the closing of SR, so whatever you can get will work just as well. Also, keep in mind that trim/shake and AVB aren't nearly as potent as nugs. If you're using whole nugs, you'll have to break them up or grind them before you start.

    I used just enough coconut oil to cover the AVB/trim mixture, with about 1/2cm extra oil on top. If I remember correctly it came out to somewhere between 1.25-1.5 cups. My suggestion is to add just enough to cover your cannabis, then round up to the easiest fraction for baking (i.e. if you add a little less than a full cup of oil, add the rest of the cup so it's easier to make the brownies.)

  • Optional-Soy lecithin: Soy lecithin is an emulsifier that improves both the extraction process and your bodies absorption after consumption. Not totally necessary. I've never made it without it, but supposedly it makes a marked difference in potency. I've seen some sources claiming soy lecithin may have adverse effects on heart health; if you're really concerned, do some research and make the decision for yourself.


    Tools:

  • Coffee grinder and a small brush: You want to get the decarboxylated cannabis as finely ground as possible. The coffee grinder is perfect because it'll get it really nice and fine, and you can use the small brush to get all the stuff left behind. I had a friend try to use a food processor because he was doing a big batch, and although it got it pretty fine it was a bitch and a half to get all the stuff left behind.
  • Crock pot: Crock pots will give you low, consistent heat, which is what you want. If you don't have a crock pot, you can use an oven set at 200°F. Note that consumer ovens can be inconsistent temperature-wise, so I recommend the crock pot. Plus, crock pot food is fucking amazing, so it's a win-win.
  • Oven/freezer safe dish: I used a souffle dish, but you can also use an egg dish. Theoretically you can just put the oil straight into the crock pot, but I wouldn't advise that unless you are making some serious bulk. It'd be a pain to get all of the oil out of there every time you have to freeze it and at the end.
  • Sheet pan and aluminum foil: This is for decarboxylation. There are about as many different methods for this as there are strains of cannabis, so if you have a method you prefer that you have had success with, you can try that if you wish. In any case, decarboxylation can produce quite the aroma. Sometimes you can just cover it up with an air freshener/smoke eliminator spray or by cooking another especially aromatic food at the same time (like sauerkraut). Some people have had success in containing the smell by placing the cannabis in a lightly sealed mason jar when you bake it. I've done this once before when making a tincture, but I was doing it with a very small amount (~1/8th) of cannabis, and I can't really attest to its effectiveness.

    Steps:
    1. Decarboxylation

    Note: If you're using AVB, you can skip this step. The vaping process took care of it for you, albeit at a loss of potency.

    A lot of people don't decarb before making oil, thinking that the heat from cooking the oil will accomplish the same thing, but that is not the case. When you are decarboxylating, you are converting THCa to THC. THCa is found in much larger portions in raw cannabis, and is far less psychoactive than THC. That's why eating straight nugs won't accomplish anything unless you eat a huge amount. When you decarb, you are converting the carboxyl (COOH) group on THCa into carbon dioxide and water, which are released into the air. That's why sometimes you'll see decarbing referred to as "drying," although that's not quite accurate. Carboxyl groups are released at a much lower rate in the oil, so you won't get the most out of your oil unless you decarboxylate beforehand.

    First, preheat the oven to 225°F. If you're using whole nugs, either break them into smaller pieces or grind them in your grinder. Spread the cannabis evenly in your oven-safe dish, cover it with foil, and put it on the sheet pan for ease of removal. Put it in the oven for 20-25 minutes. Let it cool for ten minutes or so.

    2. Grinding
    Take your time with this step. The finer the consistency, the more effectively the THC will be absorbed by the oil. Be prepared, there will be powder in every nook and cranny in your coffee grinder. Take your time and get all of that powder out with the brush. There's no reason to waste cannabis because you're too lazy to get it all out. My ground cannabis was kind of clumpy, but the clumps will dissolve when you put it in the oil.

    3. Adding the Oil
    After getting the powder into your oven-safe dish, it's time to add the oil. As I said before, you just have to add enough oil to cover all of the powder with at least 1/2 cm extra. If you want to add a lot more, that's fine, you'll have to eat more of the finished product. If you're using the lecithin, the ratio is about 3/4 tsp lecithin for every 1 tbsp of oil (1 cup=16 tbsp).

    4. Cooking
    Now comes the long part. Put the dish in your crockpot on low (or the oven) for 3 hours. Keep in mind that crockpots and ovens take a little while to get up to temperature, so I recommend you turn them on while you're grinding. Keep the lid on your crock pot or, if you're using the oven, keep the door closed the whole time. Every time you open the lid/door you're letting heat escape and cooling down your oil, which will affect the efficiency of the extraction.

    After the 3 hours is up, take your dish out and let it cool for 30 minutes or so. Wrap/cover in foil, then put it in the freezer for 2+ hours (I did it overnight just for convenience). The foil isn't entirely necessary, but it helps if you spill any to keep you from losing it.

    Not many recipes include freezing. I'll try to explain what it does based on what I can remember from the other guy's explanation.

    Picture the cannabis plant cells in the oil. Inside of these cells are all the cannabinoids that we want. When you freeze the oil, the liquid inside the cells forms crystals that pierce the cell walls and release the cannabinoids into the oil, further increasing the potency of your final product.

    After your 2+ hours are up, take the oil out of the freezer and let it reach room temperature. I remember the recipe said it would take around 15 minutes, but I found it took a little longer. If you want, you can put it in the crock pot before you turn it on and let them both come to temperature at the same time, after roughly 25-30 minutes.

    Cook the oil in the crock pot another 3 hours, starting the countdown after the oil has liquified again. The recipe ended here, but I found that my oil didn't quite look as dark as promised. If you want, you can do what I did and repeat the freezing/cooking process 1-2 more times. It can't hurt. When it's done, it should be black. Like blaaaack. Like you just struck oil in your kitchen. I'll update with a picture of mine once I get on my phone again.

    5. Straining
    This is the bitch part. I still haven't found a method anywhere that works as well as promised. I usually just use coffee filters and strain it into an old mason jar or salsa jar. Unfortunately if you just wait for all of the oil to strain out you'll either be waiting for a long time or leaving oil behind in the plant matter. One thing I tried that worked pretty well was using one of those lime/lemon juicers (like this) and putting the balled up filter inside. Whatever way you do it, just try and get as much out as possible.

    And that's it for the oil recipe. Now, for the brownie recipe, I used this. They were ridiculously delicious. I used a slightly different baking pan, but it came out to about 2 batches from the recipe. With the 1 oz of shake/trim + the ~1/4 oz of AVB, it takes maybe a 1.5"x1.5" piece to get me to a good spot. They are poooootent. I actually kind of wish they were less potent because the brownies taste so good.

I'm gonna sound like a broken record here, but a lot of these problems can be fixed by taking much longer with the preliminaries. You sound like you're like me and a lot of women. You take a while to get warmed up. And he wants to jump in with oral or PIV before you're even halfway warmed up and ready for it. I started out buying coconut oil at the local health supply store (Kind of like GNC, so try there) and used it to create body scrubs. After I told my Mom how awesome it was when she saw some on the clearance rack at the grocery store she bought it for me. Ask for help to find it to prevent searching forever or you can just buy it online. This is the brand I got from the health food store, it was more expensive because it's food grade, but to me it felt nicer than the cheap one from the grocery store. Once it melts into oil I couldn't tell the difference.

I'm currently sporting platinum blonde hair (bleached from natural black), and while my natural texture isn't too badly damaged, my hair's been way drier than I'm used to. A combination of coconut oil, argan oil, this hair masque, and some CHI products are keeping it soft at the moment.

I'm using this blue-tinted shampoo and conditioner to maintain the blonde color, but back when I was sporting pink hair, I used the TIGI bedhead sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner and it was fairly good to me (didn't wash color out all that fast, kept hair looking shiny and feeling soft and healthy.)

Just get the white, unrefined virgin coconut oil, make them, and freeze them. They will be cold going up, but they won't melt so fast you can't make it happen. It will work just fine. So you just need the oil, and suppository molds to make them into doses. I've used this oil for many things so I am very well informed in how it will react to different temps and how fast it melts. You don't have to worry about it.

Adding to your great comment for Whirley-Pop no fail amounts:

  • 1/3 cup unpopped kernels
  • 2 tbls coconut oil
  • 1/2 tsp Flavacol or fine salt

    Heat the Whirley-Pop and oil until hot. Add popcorn and flavacol. Stir occasionally with the handle and remove when popping nearly stops. Add to a large container and and if needed, add a hint more Flavacol to the popcorn.

    Bonus: Add ODell's Supur-Kist topping or Snappy Butter Burst for butter flavor.

I don't know if it will work for you, and by this point it is almost cliche, but... coconut oil. I look ridiculously shiny when I go to bed each night, but this has been one of my first winters where it didn't feel like half of my face was flaking off. This is what I use and a tub of it usually lasts me about 5 months, so it works out as not being too expensive. I use it on my face, legs, hands, everywhere. It is magic.

You could order it on amazon! It's usually in the "natural foods" section of stores, if that helps. You won't find it by beauty products, it'll be with cooking or pantry items. It says Walmart carries it in stores, so check in a few places. It might be in the pharmacy section by supplements (e.g. Vitamins), in the cooking section by other oils (e.g. Olive oil), or in a natural foods/organic section.

  1. I use the following, in order of preference: butter (4tbsp), heavy whipping cream (1/3 cup), avocado oil (1/4 cup). All are great but butter is aweome.
  2. If you order the weekly special (10% off) and grab 4 bags (5% off) you'll get both discounts. There are coupons out there occasionally as well. Without coupons it works out to 84 servings at $2.69 cents before your fat/oil source. If you go with Baja Precious avocado oil from Amazon, with subscribe and save it works out to $0.55 per serving. That's $9.70/day if you do 3 shakes. Now Ultra Omega 3 works out to $0.23 per day bring you to $9.93 per day.
  3. Immersion blender is the way to go. I spent the first month using shaker/blender bottles. It's slow and doesn't always fully mix. Immersion blenders are super easy to clean and it takes me about 3 minutes (or less) to fully clean with hot water and dish soap.

    I use a gallon pitcher, add (1.5 cups avocado oil or 2 cups of Darigold heavy whipping cream or 24 tablespoons of melted Kerrygold Irish Grass Fed salted butter), 6 scoops of ketochow, fill it 3/4 of the way full with water, give it 60 seconds with the immersion blender, let it sit for 2 minutes, and do another 60 seconds with the immersion blender. Then it goes into 6 bottles which is good for 2 days worth. I usually do 3 pitchers for 18 total servings, or 6 days.

    I normally don't need anything else to get me through the day, but I keep extra stuff in the refrigerator if do need a snack, or I'll replace one of my Ketochow servings with a combo of bacon, eggs, cheese, and veggies.

    I am lazy AF so I also regularly visit Costco and buy bags of Babybel cheese minis (regular, white cheddar, and light), packages of Kirkland precooked bacon, and boxes of Kirkland peeled hard boiled eggs. I also buy cauliflower, broccoli, and avocados for snacks. I'll occasionally grab a few rotisserie chickens, cut them in half while they're still warm, and refrigerate them, and have half as a meal when I'm craving something more substantial than Ketochow. 350f for 30 minutes heats them up perfectly.

    The only downside I've encountered is having to buy a bunch of sealed bottles (and having to wash them).

One consideration is the fat composition of whole milk and soy milk, which (going by soybean oil's composition for the soy milk) have a lot of saturated and omega-6 fats respectively, with soybean oil being around 50% (!!) omega-6. Which is why I'm personally going with Light Fuel rather than Schmilk or Athlete Fuel so that I can customize the fat profile, using something like olive or avocado oil and supplementing with coconut and fish oils.

(btw, the cheapest olive oil per unit volume I've been able to find in-store or online (apart from possibly costco in-store) is this, the cheapest coconut oil in smallish containers that you can stick in the microwave is this, the cheapest coconut oil without concern for container size is this, and the cheapest canola oil is this. Keeping in mind that prices at your local grocery stores may be cheaper, that online prices may change etc.)

Definitive research that moisturizing your skin in general will have an effect on deep skin tears such as stretch marks has not been discovered as of yet. That's the scientific consensus as far as I've been able to find.

At the same time, it is also true that keeping your skin moisturized and healthy as much possible is the best way to let it heal and stay tight and flexible. To that end I drink lots of water for internal moisture and use the best possible moisturizer on the outside. My anecdotal evidence is that I see a difference in a short time period using coconut oil. It is a healthy, natural way to keep my skin feeling amazing. I would use it even if I didn't have stretch marks.

It's best to use organic virgin non-refined coconut oil that can easily be found online.

I've always had very fine and dry hair, so my regimen would not work for most girls.

I was horrified when I discovered that my hair was falling out an inch after the root due to straightening my hair twice a week. I was very upset because I've never failed to use heat protectant on my hair and always used the lowest heat setting. Clumps of hair were falling into the sink after every styling session.

My old method was to wash my hair every 3 days and straighten it. At the end of the day I would put my hair up in a braid to avoid having the styling fall out over night. I used a lot of hairspray, shampoo, and conditioner. In retrospect this was way too many products.

I work from Monday until Friday every week, and have weekends off. Therefore, Friday night my hair is kind of oily but it looks and smells clean. After my last client is finished I put some coconut oil in my hair for one or two hours and spend some time brushing the natural oils to the ends of my hair. It looks terrible at this point. When the time is up I wash the coconut oil out of my hair with my shampoo and conditioner. I normally never have to do this more than once. After this my hair is so soft, shiny, and beautiful.

The rest of the weekend I spend putting it up in a French Braid and washing with water twice a day. After it is dry again on Sunday night, I put it in three inch hair rollers and spray lightly with water. This sets my hair to give it Hollywood waves. Most of the time I'll have to lightly heat style the front strands of my hair. I also finish it off with two drops of coconut oil to give it some extra shine. After this my hair is ready to be put in pin curls for the night and I never spend more than 5 minutes in the morning.


For me, 5 days never gets my hair greasy because I never go to the gym to work out and rarely sweat. My apartment is always cool. I think this contributes to why I can last two days longer than most girls. My individual strands of hair are very fine, but my hair per square inch is quite thick. This is a terrible combination to control, so the above method works best for me.

(I have the giant versions of all of these. I bought the salon container of Redken and haven't had to buy new shampoo or conditioner in 7 months because it's so huge. They must weight 5 pounds each!)

In all seriousness, washing your hair every day sounds nice, but it's extremely excessive. People with really thick strands and oily hair can get away with it, but I've never really heard of people actually washing their hair with shampoo every day unless they work out at the gym every morning and sweat a lot. I think most girl wash their hair with conditioner for three days, and then shampoo it. I have a friend who started balding because she washed her hair with a lot of shampoo once or twice a day since she heard that's what she should be doing. It wasn't. Please don't do this.

Please make sure you bath every night at least. I know I shouldn't have to say this, but someone may read this and think they only have to shower twice a week. I bathe once in the morning and once at night, but put my hair up so it doesn't get wet. You don't want to stink, you just want to keep yourself healthy. Plus, a nice bath really helps you relax. A lot of girls mention that 'swimming in your own sweat and grime' is disgusting. I don't really know how much dirt you can get on you within six to eight hours, but doing it twice a day should be more than enough, especially if you are using soap and washing it off.

Then I would empty the popcorn into a giant bowl. I would stir it around and use the popcorn salt for about half the time, and then used finely ground Walmart type popcorn table salt.

You don't have to drench your hair, but yeah, cover it all enough so that you can feel the oil is evenly distributed. Some people do this dry, but I find starting with damp hair helps to spread it out when I comb.

I tried real butter just the other day on my popcorn and still felt it was missing something. Some people search out that movie theater taste and prefer it to real ingredients.

For those people, beta carotene colored coconut oil, Flavacol salt, and butter topping is all it is. Flavacol has the added benefit of being super finely milled salt, it doesn't have the problem sticking to popcorn like normal salt does.

I can make popcorn that tastes just like the movie theater stuff. The main secret is just to use what the theaters use. I know, not very amazing, but it works!

1 tablespoon is 130 calories. I would start off with one tablespoon a day for a week. Eat it when you normally feel sluggish. It will not hurt you to eat more, some people eat 3 or more tablespoons a day. But I think I've read if you eat high doses at the beginning it may lead to having-to-poo-to-much syndrome.

The point is, if you want to sustain lo-carb and not have the keto-flu, MCTs are your best option. Eventually your body will get out of the flu and you won't have to rely on MCTs for energy, your body will be able to use fats and protein effeciently for energy. But you may not want to stop eating coconut oil because it's awesome.

If you're still having problems with your eczema, try fucktons of coconut oil, along with regular amounts of your prescribed medication. I live in bone-dry Fairbanks, Alaska and it helps a lot. Don't get me wrong, I still have to vacuum my bed every day, but it's not as bad as it could be.

Just get a hunk of oil and then drop one or two drops of the essential oil in your mouth. Swish around for 20m. You can go longer if you wish. Many studies note that if you can tolerate it length of time in contact is more important than overall concentration in dose.

I've been using this Coconut oil, which is expensive, but is lasting us for a very long time and tastes really good. Eggs fried in it are superb!

I just grab olive oil from Sainsburys with our normal shop. I usually get some just a few notches up from the cheapest, but I doubt I'd know the difference to be honest.

Not many people know that I make a lot of my own products. I don't trust chemicals, so I make most of my own cleaning products. I also make my own toothpaste, body wash, hair and face products, etc. I make a lot of them using coconut oil. It's such an amazing item and it can be used a million different ways. I especially love the toothpaste I make from it. It makes my teeth feel so clean. Another thing I like to do with it is mix in a little sugar to make a lip or face/body scrub. It tastes like frosting. Its SO good. And coconut oil is much healthier than other oils. I dont use any other oils or butter/margarine anymore. It has all been replaced with coconut oil.

Not necessarily lifting related, but examining your diet in-depth is the best way to figure out what supps you should spend money on.

My analysis of my own diet suggests I am deficient in vitamin K, vitamin D, vitamin C, and thiamin. I get plenty of omega-3's from my diet.

My top picks for supplements then are vitamin K and vitamin D (I do not go into the sun... death from melanoma in my family). To get more thiamine I've just been trying to eat more pork (beef is not a fantastic source, so I've been trying to expand my horizons a bit... lol). I don't worry about vitamin C.

Vitamin K is not cheap, but vitamin D is. It's easy to get vitamin K from greens if you like rabbit food... I do not.

For lifting, creatine hasn't helped me much so far, but I did gain a lot of (lean) weight when I started taking it, and it made me look huge. Creatine is super cheap, too. There are cheap sources of coconut oil out there, just avoid the boutique buzzwords like "extra virgin." I bought this stuff.

You can cook a coconut oil extraction on a stove top on very low heat, but you have to watch it closely and stir very often. Consider making a double boiler, put a small pot into a big pot with simmering water. A slowcooker is just a safe way to prevent overheating the oil, though I would strongly recommend getting one not just for ABV but for cooking in general, especially for turning cheap cuts of meat from tough and terrible into mouthwateringly delicious.

Go to a heathfood or vitamin store like GNC and get some soy lecithin, grind up the ABV by hand if you have to or with a coffee grinder, mix coconut oil, ABV powder and lecithin in the small pot, put that into the bigger pot with water that is barely boiling or even a step down from boiling so it's too hot to keep your hand in but not yet boiling. Let it sit for 2 hours heating, stirring and topping off water after about an hour. Remove from the heat and let it cool, pop it in the freezer for at least 2 hours. Repeat the heat and freeze steps at least one more time.

You can substitute propylene glycol or vegetable glycerine if you can't find lecithin, you can even put nothing extra in but it wont be as potent. You can even forego the grinding and still get a good result, but if you have access to a freezer please do freeze it as it makes a huge difference. Heat > freeze > heat > freeze, it really helps release all the goodies as the freezer makes ice crystals that shreds the ABV on the cellular level.

Once you have your coconut oil (you can use cheap coconut oil, I use this stuff: http://amzn.com/B00A2A88ZW ), I also add in a few drops of lemongrass oil, some believe the myrcene in it helps with potency, even if that's bull it still helps make it smell better and helps with any burps you get eating the oil not tasting like ass. If you're the type that tends to get gas from eating ABV you can help a bit by pouring the hot oil through a cheese cloth lined wire mesh strainer, you'll have to go slow and help force the oil through with a rubber spatula or something like that since the oil will start to filter through very slowly.

For the same price give or take a dollar this sells at BJs wholesale as well. I recommend unrefined coconut oil. I too have a picking issue and have some bad picks on my face. getting married in one month is causing unreal stress but trying to lather up rather than pick my hands and face.

At 4 months it's twice a day. General schedule is:

  • Week 1 in hospital, no dilating
  • Week 2 in hotel, static dilation (just push in to depth and hold for 15-20 minutes) 3x/day
  • Week 3-4 in hotel, start dynamic dilation (once at depth, you push in for 10-15 seconds firmly, then release pressure and try to keep the tip in the same spot, but rotate the end you're holding on to in a cone shape) 3x/day
  • Month 2-3 at home, continue dynamic dialtion 3x/day
  • Month 4-6 at home, dynamic dilation 2x/day
  • Month 6-12 at home, dynamic dilation 1x/day (note, usually by month 9 you can drop this down to once every 2 or 3 days... your body will tell you if you need to do it more often... if it's been too long dilation will be more uncomfortable and harder than when you do it more frequently)
  • 1 year+ at home, dynamic dilation as needed. Usually 2-3x/week. Sex can partially replace dilation, and over time it'll need to happen less and less often. Some girls a few years post SRS dilate once a month. YMMV

    So, at that point you'd be doing dilation 2x/day. Month 2-4 was probably the most important to do to schedule in my experience.

    Hard to say. I've always been sexual, but can take it or leave it when it comes to sex.     I continued on way longer than I needed to for a few reasons. One is that my body had only been on HRT for 1.5 years when I had SRS. I've seen anecdotal stuff that it takes longer than that for your body to adjust. This was corroborated through my experience of feeling more masculine, body hair coming back, etc in Thailand after SRS. It could've been other factors, no way to know. I meant to drop it down about 6 months post op and just forgot.

    Largely it's a thing of habit that I formed and kept with. Get blood work done to figure out your levels post op (don't be like me and go a year post-op to have it done lol).

    I thought about that myself. It's pretty cheap to do honestly (like $10-15 USD IIRC). It's not been needed for me though. It's cheaper to get them while there than shipping them.

    It's really easy. They give you a pamphlet that has you do some drawings. They ask you about how long you've felt "as a woman" and things like that. Seemed to be more of a paperwork/proper legal process kind of thing more than an in depth psycho analysis. It was maybe 30 minutes long. They speak broken english, but it's understandable and easy to communicate. Just don't use obscure words or get too far into your responses.

    Your call. I've been with guys larger and thought about buying it as well. I'd say it depends on how much larger, as well as how frequent sex is. If you're having sex with this partner 2-3x week after month 6-9, then probably won't do much to help. If you're having sex with them sporadically or otherwise don't want to have to ease into sex with them, then pick up a large dilator.

    If you're comfortable with this partner, I'd personally probably just try it and work on it as it's a reason to have more sex. If it's a little more of a every so often partner then I might get it to make it easier when together.

Get cold-pressed unrefined virgin coconut oil. Organic is nice too.

Keep in mind, though it does not seem to be comedogenic for either me or my bf, it can cause breakouts in people who are more sensitive. So always patch test first.

  1. Ferrets are itchy animals. What you've described is pretty normal. However, if you feel it is excessive, try incorporating an oil into their diet. Salmon oil or coconut oil are both excellent for improving fur and skin condition. Dosage is no more than 1/4 tsp at a time, no more than 2-3x a week. (to get them to try it, rub it on their nose so they are forced to lick it off. don't be discouraged if they don't take to it right away)

  2. It's never too late to re-train a ferret. They are very smart animals.. just stubborn. If your ferret is refusing to use the box then it's time to re-evaluate the supplies you use. They are seriously one of the pickiest animals I've ever known in terms of what is acceptable litter box conditions.

    What kind of boxes and litter are you using? Where are the litter boxes placed?

    Box size, in my opinion, is the biggest factor in whether or not a ferret will use the box reliably. Most ferrets prefer to be able to get their entire bodies into the box and have room to turn around. A lot of the smaller triangle and square boxes don't allow room for this. I personally use a cat sized litter box. It doesn't have to be a jumbo sized one or anything, just a regular cat sized box. I used a scissors to cut away part of the wall in the front so they can get in and out of it easily. Since I started using cat boxes about 2 years ago, my ferrets have been amazing with going in the box. There hasn't been an accident in months.

    Next on the importance list is box location. Please keep in mind that ferrets are burrowing creatures. They like places that are dark and enclosed. The reason why ferrets back up into a corner to potty is because their ancestors in the wild are actually solitary creatures. Backing up to potty allows them to keep an eye on their environment so they aren't vulnerable to attack. Ferrets still have some of that instinctual behavior, so having a box with high walls, and putting it in a corner will help a lot. Just as an example, I have a box in my closet and one underneath an end table.

    It's also important to note that sometimes it's easiest on everyone involved to just give in to them. If they have chosen a place to potty, and they do this continually.. just put a box there. It will make them happy and save your sanity and your floor. I see so many people who are vehement about forcing their ferret to go to a specific place to potty. They are hilariously stubborn animals. They will not let you win that battle.

    As for litter type: many ferrets do great with pelleted litters, many do not. My ferrets do not like pelleted litters, and so I switched to a scoopable litter made from walnut shells and it made an absolute world of difference. Also, if you are using pelleted litters, be sure that you are completely dumping out the box and refilling it every 3-4 days. Perhaps consider trying a new litter type? Be sure to mix the old with the new 50/50 for a few days so they don't get the idea of digging in it.

    (Just a note, since there's always someone who want to try to tell me that scoopable litters are bad: they aren't. The things to avoid in litters: anything made from cedar, anything made from clay, anything that is artificially scented, and anything that contains "crystals". Natural litters made from things like wheat, corn, or walnut shells are safe (Swheat Scoop, World's Best Cat Litter, and Blue Buffalo walnut shell litters are I think the most commonly used) - they do not harden and expand like clay litters. The clumps fall apart fairly easily, and if a ferret for whatever reason decides to dive in - they are made from natural materials that aren't going to harm them.)

    That's just my 2c. Using a scoopable litter, a cat sized box, and keeping the litter boxes in covered places works for me. I legitimately cannot remember the last time my ferrets missed the box.

Based on this and the things you've said in response to other comments, I'm getting a better feel for your wife's situation, and I don't think this is necessarily a true loss of libido situation.

FWIW, my own hunch is that most true cases of libido loss that don't have other medical causes are really cases of low-level chronic depression, or what the shrinks call "dysthemia," which comes with a general loss of the ability to feel pleasure from much of anything.

I went through this and I felt dead, no pleasure at all from things that normally felt good. When someone is in that kind of trap, the dysthemia needs to be treated before there's any hope of getting back to the point where sex is enjoyable. In fact, I think that's why CBT works so well as a treatment for low libido – it's very effective at treating mild depression without hitting people with meds that further reduce libido.

But the picture you have drawn is very different. Your wife is high cuddle, she's orgasmic, and after a good session in bed she's surprising herself by how much she has enjoyed it. She's not numb at all, she just has the brakes on almost all of the time and has a hard time shutting them off.

My read from this is that your wife's libido issue is mainly "just" baby stress and lack of time. It hits women with responsive desire especially hard because they have to shift gears and get aroused from a cold start, and there's usually not enough time without distractions.

If I'm right, then you mainly need to fix your circumstances. And that starts with coping with stress. One of the best ways is to learn to meditate and actually DO it for at least 10 minutes every day. Also do whatever you have to do so both of you get more sleep, more exercise, and more time in green spaces.

But the other essential piece of the puzzle is making time for yourselves without the kids in the house, preferably at least once a week. Sign up for a "Parents Night Out" evening daycare program, or the Saturday morning or afternoon version of the same thing. Google it. Many YMCAs, churches, temples, and synagogues do this one night or day a week, and it can cost as little as $20-30 in some areas. Or find a single mom or another couple with kids the same ages as yours and propose a swap: maybe they take your kids one evening or you take theirs the next morning, or vice versa.

Then when you do get the kids out of the house, pamper her or get her to pamper herself. Make it a mini-spa at the start, with a glass of wine and a long bubble bath, or whatever helps her relax and forget about the stress she's carrying. (Maybe she can get a head start on this while you drop off the kids.) But take it from another LL/RD: it's a LOT easier to get in the mood for sex if you've had an interval to relax first and you're already mellowed out!

Yup. It's so easy for it to come across as "You're broken and I'm trying to fix you so I'll get better sex." And I don't think more talk is what you need. I think instead of discussions you need to focus on actions that will actually change your circumstances.

Here's one simple option to think about in addition to the things I already mentioned (paraphrasing something a friend wrote yesterday):

  • Get a good, inexpensive folding massage table, some coconut oil, and at least two nice big soft towels (if you don't already have some).

  • Get a good book on sensual or erotic massage.

  • Start practicing on each other. It feels wonderful and it can be a huge education about your partner's body and how to give her maximum pleasure.

    If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't discuss any of this with her until the table arrives. Make it something you did on impulse because you wanted to give her a treat, and then offer to give her a massage. Do NOT tie it to any kind of sex afterward! That will come eventually if you get her feeling more relaxed and open to sensual pleasure. Just make it a standing offer of free massages with no strings attached whenever she wants one.

Coconut Oil! I use it for EVERYTHING. I make shampoo for myself and my dogs. I use it as face wash. I use it to cook with. I use it as lotion, polish for furniture, chap stick, hair conditioning, homemade deodorant, sunscreen, toothpaste, to take internally to help with colds and weight loss. I actually do have really bad psoriasis on my scalp and have found coconut oil to help, at least temporarily (for 1-2 days after application), by reducing flaking, itching, shedding hair.

However, it makes my hair stronger and scalp feel more hydrated. Here is the kind I use. I would suggest going to your local organic grocery store (Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, etc.) and picking up the "extra virgin" type. I read somewhere (but have no current citation) that this is the least processed and most beneficial to the skin.

I don't hate, but I do dread August 1-4. My mother passed away August 1, 2004 and her funeral was on the 4th. To date those 4 days were the worst I've ever spent on this planet and even now 9 years later those days are very hard to get through.

I love August 23rd because it is my Mamaw Louise's birthday. She is turning 82 in a couple of days. For majority of my life I lived across the street from her, so I spent A LOT of time over at her house. I would even sneak out at night to go sit with her while she knitted/crocheted/crafted. She has been my best friend since, well the day I was born I guess. I love getting to celebrate her.

And I also love August because it does start marking the end of summer. Even though here in South Louisiana we still have to worry about hurry-canes, and deal with humidity and heat until practically November. There's something great about crossing from August to September to get you in the fall frame of mind.

How to make delicious homemade home-style popcorn:

  • Pour oil (peanut, canola, or vegetable) in a pot about 1/8" deep and crank the heat
  • Pour popcorn kernels in until covering the bottom of the pot (but not piled on top of each other)
  • Place lid on pot slightly ajar to allow steam to escape
  • If popcorn is getting too high in your pot, remove the lid and place in your sink (you do not want your popcorn touching the watery condensation from the steam) and allow popcorn to spill over if need be
  • Turn off heat as soon as the popping slows/stops and pour popcorn into large bowl
  • Melt butter (as little or as much as you want) in the still hot pan (pro-tip: use the butter knife to cut the chunk in half again and again to speed melting
  • When butter is bubbling it is ready.
  • Pour half of the butter over your popcorn. Add regular table salt. Gently stir popcorn with butter knife. Pour remaining half of butter and add salt, stir again.

Shavers...

 

After all of the cordless electric shavers I've used over the years, my Remington F5-5800 Foil Shaver gives me the smoothness shave I've ever had without using an actual razor. I finish off by edging up and trimming with a [Philips Norelco G370] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FED5DU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_F702AbWT46ATE) (it was <$100 and it's probably outdated by now) I've used it for ~4-7 years and dropped it a few times. It leaves the skin a bit rough, though, but I've rarely ever nicked myself with it (if at all).

 

Instructions & Maintenance...

 

Read the instructions and follow proper maintenance (brush, clean, oil, etc.). Always.
And for the record, both of my shavers are easy to clean. The Remington requires more effort, especially once a month, but the Phillips only requires a quick brushing (I add Andis Clippers Clipper Oil). The "hardest" part is letting the Remington dry for so long before putting the head back on. Don't brush the clippers while it's on, btw. Seriously, you'll ruin the brush and end up needing to replace it.

 

Battery Life...

 

If the instructions say to let the battery die before its first charge, I do so. If it says to fully charge it for X hours before its first use, I do so. Now, people of Reddit had a particular conversation about battery life once. I never looked into the matter myself, but I started practicing it with all of my chargeable devices. After the initial required drain (if instructed), I always charge it after it hits 30-50%. I do my best to never let it drain completely to 0%. The idea is that the battery will actually degrade much quicker if it drains to 0% and will need to be replaced sooner. Feel free to call me a fool on this one, but please explain your reasoning.

 

Razers & Magic Shave...

 

This one requires a story or warning.
I wet shaved with my brother's razor when I was in high school because my cordless one (probably a Phillips) wouldn't work properly when I put it back together after taking the top apart for a full-ish cleaning for the first and last time (the school started reinforcing its facial hair policy).

Though it was my first time, and I shaved against the grain, I didn't cut myself or apply anything to my skin before or after. My face was so smooth that I kept touching it. Three days later, I start noticing bumps. By the fifth day, I had full on razor bumps everywhere I originally shaved. Bump Stopper II took a month or so to really any progress and around three months to really make an impact, but it left my skin dry and very flaky. Eventually, I moved to Skin Tight Razor Bump Ointment Extra Strength. It burned like hell in the beginning, but showed better progress. That and washing my face daily with soap and a towel of course.

Since I still had to shave, I just went over the bumps with a shaver and routinely wiped the blood away. Due to a barber's suggestion, I started using Bump Fighter Razors. He warned me that they were going to miss some hairs, but it worked well enough.

At some point, I was recommended (powder blue) Magic Shave because it would "eat those bumps up" (oh, boy). This stuff stinks, flakes all over the place, and can tear up your skin if you aren't careful. I tore a descent sized section of my skin off when I dragged a wet towel down my chin at the wrong angle once. I could see the skin sitting intact in the towel with the inner-end of my hairs barely sticking out of it. Was a really weird moment. That section of my face was pink and hairless for awhile before it healed over. Looked funny on my lovely complexion. For the record, I only used it every three or four days. Three is the minimum, IIRC.

If you're going to use Magic Shave, use a wet towel to wipe it off (prepare to rinse repeatedly), designate a magic shave cup that is to be used for nothing else, consider only wearing boxers, bring a broom and dust pan, and stay in one room or outside. Hell, turn the vent on, you stinky mutt. Overall, I do not recommend Magic Shave's original formula (powder blue). I cannot speak for its powder gold fragrant or creme light fresh scent version, though.

Now for razers...
I started using the cheap pack of (dark blue) Gillette dual-blade razers from Walmart in high school. They worked very well. Here are my instructions: Shave with the grain, rinse the blades after every stroke, thoroughly rinse the blades after you're done, wipe them carefully with a toilet paper to get extra crud off, and let air dry somewhere. Hell, thanks to another Reddit conversation, I kept a short round plastic container of isopropyl alcohol around in college to "shake" the razer in as a finishing touch of cleanliness. Supposedly, the alcohol evaporates after awhile, so I just let it air dry after that (read the 4/24/18 edit at the bottom). The blades lasted a pretty long time doing all of this before I need to pull out a new razor. That combined with how cheap they were...

 

Razer Bumps / Ingrown Hairs...

 

I found that daily shaving, Skin Tight creme, and actually washing or just wiping my face with a clean damp paper towel kept the bumps from fully returning. A trick I discovered to get rid of the ones that lingered was to grow my facial hair out. It looked awful for a month since the bumps returned as the hair grew (they might have been curling into the skin), but there's a point where the bumps start to recede into the skin and all you have is a full beard (minus some areas of the lower neck). Now just maintain it or shave it off. What you'll find is a smooth face with practically no bumps. You must keep the hairs from growing back, though (and maybe wash your face?). Mess that up, and the lingering bumps will return.

Oh, to hell with Bump Stopper II and don't bother with Skin Tight. My physician recommended Tend Skin Solution after I graduated college, and, let me tell you, it works better than both. I hear the ingredients aren't that bad for your health either.

 

My Routine...

 

I wash my hair (including facial) with Bubble & Bee's hard water shampoo (the price is worth it, especially since it lasts for a surprisingly long time), pour on and rub in their vinegar rinse ratio (a fourth of the bottle tops; it's optional when you purchase the shampoo), wash that out, apply Nature's Way Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil to my facial and scalp hair while still damp/wet (I'm not 100% certain about using it on the scalp yet; used to use AVEDA Dry Remedy Daily Moisturizing Oil twice or thrice a week), brush my facial hair (soft bristles for the cheeks and neck; medium bristles for the beard and moustache) once in the morning, and apply Tend Skin Solution twice a day with cotton balls.

I should be using the foil shaver daily, but I don't always. Hence why I brush my cheeks and neck.

 

In closing...

 

If you're close to (or cool with) any Afro-American males, especially ones who've just started growing facial hair, consider having them read this so they can learn from my mistakes. Those razor bumps were rather unsightly.

 

tl;dr: Use Tend Skin Solution for razor bumps, wash your face, follow instructions, foil shavers leave smoother skin, read the section on battery life, don't shave against the grain with a razor, and don't use magic shave or bump stopper II.

 

EDIT (4/24/18):
About my shaving cleanup steps. I later realized that letting the isopropyl alcohol dry on the razer caused the blades to dull quicker, so I started rinsing them off and wiping them with toilet paper a second time as the final step.

Not very greasy since it's so light. But it can take a little while to absorb, like any oil. It doesn't cause me to break out, but that's pretty individual.

I buy whatever brand's cheapest. I've definitely bought this before. I just look for something with minimal processing (extra virgin or virgin) and no ingredients other than coconut oil.

I hope you will try a kale smoothie!! They are hella nutritious. Here is my jam: buy a head of kale at the store (purple is the bomb), take it home, cut off the stems, wash it, dry it, chop it up, and put it in a big Ziploc bag. Then i stash it in the freezer, so it stays good and never goes bad or wilts. I keep an old protein powder scoop (1/4 cup) in the Ziploc, and throw 2 scoops in my morning smoothie. You can use any protein powder you like; i use Jay Robb whey or egg white powder. I also put some grass-fed unflavored gelatin because a lot of the keto/paleo sites recommended it. I also add a few (about 1/8 cup) of frozen blueberries to help the flavor.

Make sure you leave enough space in the jar for it to blend properly. My Ninja individual jar has a "max fill" line which is helpful. blend the shit out of it or else you'll get the "liquid salad" effect. I will add some Kerrygold butter, or olive oil, or coconut oil to the shake if I need more fat that day.

I used a Magic Bullet blender for a long time, then I upgraded to a Ninja, which is what I use now. Someday i want to get a Blendtec or a Vitamixer, but I don't have six hundo to throw down on a fucking blender.

I buy the Nature's Way brand of coconut oil, to me it tastes pretty coconutty. I tried to get my dad to eat some, because MCTs help with memory in addition to all the other amazing things they do, but the stubborn old man won't eat it because he is convinced it will make him fat. That shit is like catnip to me, I love it. I love all the other great "fat bomb" recipes folks post on here. Good luck!!

I have thin-stranded, quite fine hair, but a LOT of it. It's fairly delicate but can seem to take lots of abuse lol

I did co-wash for about 6 months using Tresemme Naturals, but it just didn't do great things for my hair, it was dull and dry and kind of sad. I went back to using regular shampoo and conditioner, I use Fructis Triple Nutrition and I love it.

Here is the protein mask, available at Sallys.

Here is an example of coconut oil, brand doesn't matter, as long as it's virgin, cold pressed oil. You can find it at the grocery store in with oils, it's solid and white at room temp, but melts in your hands, it's also completely edible. A hair product with coconut oil in it is NOT a good substitute! Apply 3" away from roots, conditioner by itself gets it out just fine.

Have you tried coconut oil? I love it for my popcorn, especially if you get the made-for-popcorn kind. Also you shouldn't use Olive Oil... it burns faster. If you're gonna use anything use Canola Oil.

hear me out. right next to the popcorn were bottles of orville redenbacher popcorn butter flavoring. i did a 1 to 1 taste test. one batch made with vegetable oil and melted butter poured on after completion, one batch made with half vegetable oil and the butter flavoring.

the butter flavoring one was much more butter flavored. i will be using that flavoring stuff every time.

I have worked it out... well I googled it and now my popcorn tastes like it was fresh popped in a theater.

You need to:

  1. cook in coconut oil
  2. use Flavacol salt added to the oil before popping

    There is special coconut oil but I just use plain the special stuff is just colored.

    I use a fancy schmancy popcorn popper that lets the steam out but you should get excellent results following this advice (but still add the Flavacol to the oil with the kernels)

hmmm okay. that texture stuff is kinda hard to gauge without knowing what your climate is like but I'm pretty sure I've got the right stuff. Its about 66 F where I store my oil and it is harder than cream cheese from the fridge. Still smells super coconutty and gives be a belly ache like pure mct if I eat a ton of it. The price fluctates, I might have caught a sale/Subscribe deal, but $20 is still very fair. I did research for switching and honestly, I couldn't find too many cons to using it this way. I use it in BPC, minute muffins and frying up food. The only downside for me is lack of coconutty taste, but my husband hated that so it washes out. :)

And that's it! Get a big pot and put it on the stove... put the coconut oil in and let it melt. Add the flavacol salt and stir a little. Put one kernel in and wait until it pops... once it does just put all the corn in and turn it off when it stops popping every 3 seconds or so. Best popcorn around.

I had to plug the text into google translate (haha), and i can see that jar is coconut puree. It will still contain oil that will usually float to the top. However that white paste is going to be the pureed flesh of the coconut.

This might seem a little weird but screw it, I need coconut oil.

As most people in this sub already know, I cut all my hair off last month when my Dad died. I'm happy I could fulfill one of his last wishes but I went from waist length to above shoulders hair and I pine for it daily like you'd pine for a lost love.

Coconut oil is an insanely awesome deep conditioner and I'm trying anything to keep my hair healthy and growing as fast as possible.

Sure thing. I scoured the web and /r/MFA looking at guides until I settled on this method:

  1. Rinse the shoes off in cool water to remove any loose debris.
  2. Using a soft-head toothbrush, thoroughly scrub the shoes with a mixture of dish soap and water.
  3. Blot the shoes dry with paper towel.
  4. Using a cloth (I used an old undershirt), apply Saddle Soap to the shoes and leather insoles. Remove any excess soap with your cloth and let the shoes sit a few minutes to dry.
  5. Using a new cloth, apply a conditioner to the shoes. I personally used coconut oil. Let sit and dry.

    Note: I linked to the products I personally used. Allen Edmonds also sells saddle soap in a much more reasonable 3 oz size. If you used too much coconut oil, you may see a white film develop. Just rub it off with your cloth. This guide was also helpful.

As a note, this bread turned out to be relatively sweet and dense, in comparison to what I'm used to. It doesn't taste like regular bread.

  • 7 Large Eggs (50g / 1.7 oz each)
  • 100 g Butter melted (100 g / 1/2 cup)
  • 30 g Coconut Oil (30 g / 2 Tbsp)
  • 200 g Almond Flour (200 g / 2 Cups)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder (5g / 0.2 oz)
  • 1/2 teaspoon xanthan gum (2g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt (2g)

    Instructions


  • Preheat the oven to 180 C (355 F).
  • Put the eggs in a bowl and beat on high for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Add the melted butter and coconut oil, and beat until smooth.
  • Add the almond flour, baking powder, xanthan gum and salt, and beat until combined and thick.
  • Scrape into an 8-inch X 4-inch (20 cm x 10 cm) loaf pan lined with baking paper.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until a skewer comes out of the middle clean.
  • Slice into 16 thin slices and store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days or up to 1 month in the freezer.

I've been drinking Propel daily and have felt fantastic as of late. It's not cheap, but it's not too expensive either.

I love Keto Chow and JUST placed another order. One thing I've learned is that it's better to buy the smaller cartons of the heavy cream, as I don't go through it too fast (I only take one serving a day for lunch). I use this for the oil. I can find it in the grocery store.

Got it from my regular grocery store, same aisle as the olive oils. It's so awesome. Completely flavorless. I use a deeper skillet or regular pot, pour in enough to submerge a tortilla, on medium heat, then fry the tortilla wedges til they're crispy. I toss out the used oil afterwards.

As for the chia, I don't know what would work as a whole meal from those little suckers. They're like the size of a poppy seed. So short or getting a low carb baking mix from the netrition website and mixing them in like that, or like a cracker like you originally posted, I'm kinda stumped beyond using as a seasoning type thing. I use it every time I shower. As soon as I get out of the shower and dry my face I splash a few drops on my hands. Then I rub my hands together and then massage it into my face and let it absorb in. It will rehydrate your face after you shower and keep it healthy. The antibacterial properties really help with acne. I also stopped using soaps or any chemicals in my face of any kind. These products tend to dry up and irritate the skin which leads to natural oil imbalances and acne. I literally dealt with acne for 10 years before discovering this. I love Coconut oil for my high temp stuff. It's a bit on the expensive side, but it is cheaper if you commit to buying a larger amount. The other suggestions I've seen here (Avocado oil, ghee, and lard) are all great, as well, but the neutral flavor of coconut oil tends to lend itself to more applications IMHO.

Really simple solution. If the protein intake is already adequate, just add your own fats for as much extra calories as you want. 15ml = 125ish calories. Add 1-2 servings of those to each of your shakes.

Avocado oil or Heavy cream (depending on your taste/texture preferences) is the general recc. Butter is also an option if that is more to your taste. You will have to experiment. A combination of those is also something to try, like avocado + heavy cream.

Olive oil is the less expensive option.

I hear Macadamia oil and Hemp oil are good but they also have a much stronger taste and hemp is more expensive.

I can link to best prices for bulk quantities (4-7lbs) of any of the oils if you're interested. I spent a bunch of time on this building my own DIY keto soylent.
