My son had no interest in screens until he was close to 2. We took quite a few road trips and flights where we needed to entertain him without screens.

Some ideas we did are:

Get a bunch of new toys. Things like silicon straws, plastic animals, stacking cups, toy cars, baby doll, squigz and other fat brain toys. Don’t introduce them until the car ride.

Get a see through makeup bag like this. Fill it up with toys and then hand it to them and watch as they pull everything out. Then once everything is out, full it up and try again. Then try it with different toys. Then try it part way zipped up or all the way zipped up.

Board books with touchy freely pages like jellycat books.

I have a different version of [this](https://smile.amazon.com/Lay-n-Go-Cosmo-Cosmetic-Bag-Black/dp/B00B04V3PQ/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=flat+makeup+bag&qid=1563228823&s=gateway&sr=8-3) which is super convenient because it lays flat so you can see everything then you just pull the cords to shut it

What about a brush holder for the brushes
I bought this one and it's really decent. there is lots of compartments, a removal pouch and extra zipped pockets. https://www.amazon.com/Travelmall-Professional-Cosmetic-Organizer-functional/dp/B01ELDCK9A/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1505691979&sr=1-4&

No pictures because I'm not home, but I have 3 of these little, stackable sterlite containers, 3 large z-palettes, one of these acrylic organizers that fits nicely onto of the sterilite drawers, & a brush bag to hold my brushes that I rarely use but can't seem to part with. Any pressed powder that I could de-pot & place in the z-palette, I did, which really help towards space saving. I also have done multiple de-clutters over the past year, in order to get rid of colors that were too similar or products that I didn't really like/use. I managed to get my collection down to fit everything in these storage containers, including my brushes/tools that I use daily. Everything except my brush bag fits on 1 shelf in my bathroom cabinet (I have built in set up just like this), & I place the bag in a drawer that has a bunch of necessary, but rarely used things, so it's accessible, but out of the way. I share a house with my cousin, so I have a 1 shelf/2 drawer limit with no counter space to speak of. If I can't fit my stuff neatly into my designated space, I have to get rid of things. Unfortunately, I don't have a proper vanity; I have 7 dogs & their beds/crates take up all the spare space (& then some) in my bedroom. It's a sacrifice I'm more than happy to make.

I actually have a separate stash for traveling because I've been known to break or lose things whilst on the road.
I got One of these cases and it works but I really want one that's got hard sides!

I also have a similar set up. I keep my brushes in this book holder to protect my brushes not only from dust, but also dog hair that seems to exist everywhere in my house.

My day is going pretty blah so far. I just made a nice cup of tea and I'm going to settle in with a podcast to get some work done so that's a picker upper.

This week I hope to accomplish organizing all of my makeup and finally making my own battle station in our study (which is currently being used for storage).

Three things just for me? Well I just got a forgotten paycheck from teaching yoga classes so with that money I am:

  • Putting half in savings so I no longer feel like a broke joke

  • Buying NYX eye brow gel because I'm out of my normal gel and I'm in love with theirs (I tested it last time I was at Ulta but they only had testers, none to buy)

  • Searching high and low until I can find the new ELF Snow White collection because I am in LOVE with the storybook palette and the brush set with matching bag

    Boom!

Thanks for hosting! I love these flash contests!

How awesome are you! The big question is: what's your budget!?

A couple reactions to your list: honestly if she is just starting out, this brush set is OK (not great, but OK). It does seem to have a lot of eye/detail brushes and not a lot for base. The thing is, she won't know what brushes she's in love with until she tries out a bunch. If she's into it, then she might want to buy better quality brushes in the kind she likes. I'm saying this also because I'm a mua and I use brushes kind of unconventionally and I find a lot of mu enthusiasts/pros are the same way (example--it might say "crease" brush, but I'll use it for buffing out concealer or smudging eyeliner). She won't know until she tries a bunch of different kinds, so I think getting a variety of inexpensive brushes isn't a bad idea. It also depends on the face she's working on?

You might want to splurge on one kinda decent set, too, though if you're saving a ton of money getting a more inexpensive set. This one might be good to start BUTTTTTTT if you have a TJMaxx near you DEFINITELY go check it out. You can get surprisingly decent brush sets there for a great price--you also might be able to feel them before buying to check them out. I got that RT eye brush set for, like, $7.99 or something.

The brush/sponge cleaner--If I were you, I'd save some $$ by just getting a baby shampoo or Dr. Bronner's soap. (Not to say that Eco Tools one is super pricey, but if she's washing her brushes as much as she should, she may run out quick). In my kit, I use Parian Spirit or Cinema Secrets, but it's kind of $$$. If I'm running low, I'll use baby shampoo because it's super gentle. For lip brushes or special fx makeup stuff, I'll even use Dawn. The silicone brush cleaner is a cool gadget, but be warned it can wreak havoc on brushes (esp. cheap brushes!)

The organizer is a good idea and it's cute, but the only thing is that type are kinda tricky in that they don't really hold that much. If she is really getting into it, maybe something more versatile? I'm obsessed with Muji organizers, but $$$. WAIT, just checked and they're having a sale: http://www.muji.us/store/health-beauty/makeup/makeup-storage-box.html

They are wonderful because they are SUPER versatile and all kind of fit together, so you can make your own little set up.

What about a cute vanity mirror? https://www.amazon.com/Daylight-Detachable-Magnification-Convenience-Definition/dp/B06XDNCV4M/ref=pd_sim_201_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=KZM8NMHW9YNTDREEHZDN

Brush holder? https://www.amazon.com/Quality-Acrylic-Makeup-Cosmetic-Holder/dp/B0098TKSLU/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1505883877&sr=1-4&keywords=makeup+brush+holder

I use this guy for if I know I'm only doing one client. Would be great for personal use, too: https://www.amazon.com/Travelmall-Professional-Cosmetic-Organizer-functional/dp/B01ELDCK9A/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1505691979&sr=1-4&th=1

OK, I'm going to bed, haha! Have fun, you are an amazing sister and whatever you get her will be cherished.

Disclaimer- this is more a post about durable, travel-friendly makeup bags than pretty ones.

I travel for work at least every other week and have a lot of makeup. I got really sick of using those "2-dimensional" bags that make you fish around for each products.

I currently use the Herschel Supply Co. chapter travel kit. I feel like it's a good compromise between being durable, large, but not hideous. It's also cheaper than other "makeup-specific" pouches than I've seen of similar quality. When unzipped, it opens very wide and I'm able to find things easily. I have it in the polka dot colorway.

On a sillier note, i picked this up from Costco for $15. It's the most ridiculous thing but is actually amazing for travel. I'm able to scoop everything up and just spread it out on hotel bathroom counter when I get in. I'm a bit of a germaphobe and it makes me feel better to my makeup and brushes on something- rather than directly on the counter top.

Its a little under five but I would love this awesome makeup bag before my trip!

Amazon pay Jerron right meow.

u/Rygard- · 2 pointsr/muacjdiscussion

Does anyone have a rec for a brush roll/case? I don't have a ton of brushes or anything, so nothing huge or crazy, but my main concern is holding a few of my larger brushes such as my RT powder brush and Morphe E41. One I'm looking at is this. I like this design or something similar if anyone has any recommendations!

u/saf621 · 2 pointsr/beyondthebump

We traveled for the first time at 11 months, and only about two weeks after we started sleep training. Since he was older we felt comfortable buying a pack n play mattress off of amazon. It folds up so it makes it easy to transport or check when you fly. We put a pack n play sheet over the mattress and then under the mattress that comes with the pack n play to hold it all together. He was able to sleep just fine in the pack n play. The first night was a little rough, but he had just flown for 8 hours and didn’t sleep much on the plane. We had to position the pack n play in a space where he couldn’t see us sleeping in the bed at the same time. We didn’t do any practice beforehand and just decided to wing it. We traveled again at 15 months and he had zero issue napping and sleeping in the pack n play.

With the 4 hour road trip, it all depends. You’ll probably want to stop half way and let her out for a bit. My son does great in the car and we took a road trip a few months ago and he puked everywhere because I think he got car sick. We made sure to stop every couple hours and it didn’t happen again. Also a fun activity is to get a clear bag like this and put a few car toys or soft objects in it. Then hand it to them and they’ll spend about 10 minutes pulling things out and playing with them. Then you fill it back up with new toys or the same toys and they do it again.

I mean, the obvious solution is out there already...

u/ebbster · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I use this one (caution! affiliated links):

a roll-n-go organizer. This is easy to fit everything and put it in the luggage.

But if you're not travelling by plane, something like this is useful.

u/bigrob31 · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I keep my brushes in a a makeup brush "folio" like this. I just got mine for Christmas and I really like it. Before I was using a little cup but it was so full that I had trouble finding a specific brush. It was also hard to travel with, since I'm in college but go home about every other weekend or so. This thing makes it easy to see all my brushes, and I can keep my Real Techniques sponge in the mesh zippered pouch in the middle.

u/bmarshmallow61 · 2 pointsr/bdsm

I couldn’t figure it out at first but heres another , a vintage doctor bag . I just found that they were expensive. I got this one from amazon !

u/naswek · 2 pointsr/lockpicking

This one and this one both have zippered pouches to keep your tensioners secure. I like the first one because the whole things zips closed.

A bunch of people around here, including me, have this one. I would much rather have one of the first two.

u/ernieball · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

My husband uses an old Jansport Backpack and swears it's as good as any diaper bag. I use smaller clear pouches inside the backpack to keep things organized - one for diapers/wipes/chux pad, one for spare baby clothes, one for bottles and formula, one for food/snacks/wipes/bib (now that he's older), one for medical stuff, and one for teethers/toys.

u/harrylovesginny07 · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

What about something like this?

I would swatch the lipsticks on paper to put in the front of each pocket to help find what I was looking for easier. (Like if I had 4 lipstick in one pocket, kiss a piece of paper with each shade and label them and stick them in that pocket)

I hope I explained that easily, it sounded great in my mind but when I went to type it got all jumbled. lol

Cheapest is a set of floral pencil cases for $2.50. I have several mugs and cups that I keep around my apartment now to hold pencils and pens, but a softsided case would be nice to have to carry with me. Plus they're pretty.

Most expensive is the LEGO City Arctic Base Camp at $92. I just think it looks like a fun set with a lot of play value! I would like to get it someday when I have more fun money to burn.

I will occasionally read ^and^write fan fiction. It's so bad, but I can't help it. I also look at wedding stuff and nurseries, even though I'm no where near marriage or babies (I don't even have a prospect of having a boyfriend at the moment).

this if I win :)

Thanks for the contest!

u/Missjujubee · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Mmmm Strawberry bubblegum. Arguably the best flavor.

I could really use something like thisto organize my makeup, but it is an add on item, and you're purchase may not be over $25. In which case I really need a new gel liner.
Thanks for the contest, lovely! :)

u/DSiobhan7 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I'm in! So exciting, thanks for the contest!

u/kohkitti · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Nice, your first contest! That must be exciting. I like the peculiar cost limit of $5.51, it's interesting :)

Coolest thing on my wishlist for under the target price is a handy dandy purse organizer, since my purse is always in a constant state of disarray!

Edit: It's late, I'm completely derping stuff here :c

Oooh I love shopping for other people

First, here are some non-makeup related things.
Planners are always good for people going into high school. here is one cute one and here is another. I'm not sure what kinda style she's into D:
A cute notebook like this one or the one that says "memories of highschool" is a good present that she can fill out throughout the years!
Now more beauty related
here is a really simple but helpful makeup/brush organizer. It's not that expensive either! Or get her a colorful one like this

A cute make up bag would work too! 1 - 2 - 3
I know these are simple, but every girl with makeup needs these. Plus you don't want to overwhelm here with too many beauty things and scare her into thinking makeup is essential for high school. I suggest a makeup bag the most (and stuff it with cute trinklets, maybe even makeup XD) because she can use it for many other things as well.
I also suggest brushes from coastal scents because they're cheap and work amazingly well!

good luck! :) birthdaygraduation
