How far away do you need to hear it?

If it's not too far, you might be able to attach a bell to the door frame which the patio door will ring when it closes.

At first I thought oh that's definitely a mini replica of the liberty bell. But upon closer inspection it's not. This is the closest thing I could find, and it looks very similar. It's called a purser's bell. Is pricey though. Hopefully this helps on your search.
