32 Pack Spanish Floral Folding Hand Fan Women Vintage Retro Pattern Fabric Fa... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074DVWM5G/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_MJ0YCb7EDAMWY via @amazon

Unfortunately the 50 pack i got for $30 is sold out, so that one is the best deal, but the above link is very similar. Just look up hand fans on Amazon, you'll get them for even less than a $1 a piece!

What is “fan clapping”? When one of these devices is opened and closed rapidly to the beat of a DJ’s most recognizable track.

u/elocinic0le · 5 pointsr/bonnaroo

One thing that I don't see mentioned on a lot of packing lists is a hand held fan (like this). They are $1 at Dollar Tree and will save your damn life. Also I like to fan other people, they appreciate it and it's an easy way to make a friend!

There are limited options to deal with the heat, especially when trying to sleep. I'm in the north and think it sucks in the upper 80's. You guys further south must really be suffering. So this is what I was able to put together.

  • Cheap

If it's not too humid you can snag yourself and your family Arctic Ties. I've used these before and, when tied around your neck after absorbing water, they really do help. You can also use things like wet handkerchiefs, spray bottles, and even get yourself a hand fan.

Alternately, you could try dampening a top sheet and laying under that if it's dry enough to evaporate. Also, if there's a breeze, supposedly hanging a wet sheet a little ways in front of the window will help, though I can't vouch for that one personally.

Lastly, if you have a finished underground basement, check on what the temp is like down there. Even partial submergence underground and the fact that heat rises will likely keep it cooler than the first or second floor.

  • Middle Ground

Take a look at adding Camp Fans into the mix. They'll chew through some batteries, but you can bulk up on those ahead of time and make it through without needing major investments. You can also look at oddball solutions like the Chillow (I have no idea if this works well or not)

If you're a do-it-yourself kind of guy, Survival Life has some instructions to a solar powered air conditioner that supposedly outputs air at 65-40 degrees depending on the water temp. Add some ice to that and it could give some nice windows of tolerable temperatures so long as it has power.

  • Expensive

Here you're looking at either/both generators and/or solar. Solar won't do as much if it's solid cloud cover unless you drop some serious dollars on a battery wall, but once that's over you could at least potentially have some power during the day and could charge devices (battery chargers?) to help you get through the night.

Can concur. I literally never go to a festival or even a local indoor show without one now! I've also mentioned this in another post here when someone asked what types of fans I liked, so I'll copy here hopefully you find it useful:

there's sooo many different designs
as well as folding material
and silk style
and in various colors

It really depends what you prefer. My experience the silk one's are lighters and easier to carry, but can tear and the bamboo can break off. The plastic 'spanish' folding style ones are a bit more sturdy and muuuch easier to fold in/out, also making a loud snap noise (if you're into that). But if the plastic/Spanish style ones break they're pretty much useless, the silk one's can still be somewhat functional even if busted. I personally prefer the plain white silk one's and sometimes have people sign them for memories :)

happy Forest!

I use this when not practical to haul around my real sword(s). It's actually fairly sturdy and well-balanced, but too light for daily practice. For fans, I just use a regular giant plastic fan. It's long when folded, but not bulky, and I don't care about being sneaky with a fan. The bamboo ones are a little bit lighter or if you don't mind looking goofy af, you can practice fan forms with a cute little hand fan, but it's... awkward.

u/Hart2375 · 2 pointsr/festivals

FUCK YES to making festivals a larger part of your life. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made :) I don’t know about the best shoes for dancing, but I always wear Vans to shows and festivals and I’ve never had an issue with my feet hurting. I think they’re a great option :) As for things to take the night of or after partying I would recommend a multivitamin, tylenol and a smoothie. The best thing you can really do to help yourself out is to eat lots of fruits and veggies in the days leading up to an event (or all the time!). Also constantly drinking water. I’ve tried a lot of extra supplements and misc. vitamins but they all are kinda extra and not needed to me. Also I constantly eating Cliff bars at festivals even when I’m not hungry. I feel better usually when I really really load up on calories. Healthier ones though!

Just bought this air mattress this year so haven’t tested it longterm, only used it for one festival so far. It stayed inflated well for the first 2 days and then we just topped it off with some more air for the remaining days and it worked great for us. Super comfy and it’s nice being higher off the ground. We put the air mattress in the tent before we inflate it, way easier. No air pump needed we use a car plug adapter and an extension cord. Its super easy to run your car for 5 minutes to inflate it. Make sure you pay attention to the number of prongs on your plug so you don’t buy the wrong adapter or extension cord too! For camping without a car nearby this method won’t work obviously but we always have the car by us.

My boyfriend and I purchased this tent 2 years ago and its made it though a decent amount of festivals. No signs of wear or damage. I know you mentioned a black out tent. I’m assuming to help sleep once the suns up? The heat usually gets me out of the tent before the light, it gets so unbearably hot once the suns up. You said you’re not new at this though so I’m sure you already knew that! :)

For staying cool I would recommend a cooling towel. Get it wet in your cooler ice water and it’s great to keep around your neck. Also small hand fans are a GAME CHANGER for guys and girls. It’s shocking how much they help honestly. Sitting with your feet in a small pool, bucket, or cooler when you’re hanging out at the campsite is super nice too. Just fill with water and some ice cubes and it really helps cool your body down!

Custom make a Japanese fan? Make it the size of the window and that you can attach it somehow? Japanese fan as an example.

u/deadlynugget · 2 pointsr/electricdaisycarnival

I remember that guy! He partied behind us at cosmic meadow. Every time he fanned us, my friends and I would just turn around and open our arms. It was amazing. Also, I had those spray bottles with the fan and he would constantly ask me to spray him lol.

Anyway this is the biggest fan I could find. Did not find any with a built in grip. It 60" wide which is 5ft:

The fabric on these fans start to fray on the edges after a while, but they’re STURDY otherwise. I love them. But keep in mind they’re HUGE. That does make them highly effective. I’ve never had one break after several festivals and concerts. They just wear down a bit.

I’ve searched high and low for quality, sturdy hand fans, and there just aren’t many. They’re either cheap as dirt or they’re flimsy pieces of art that cost a fortune.

u/theblexican · 1 pointr/electricdaisycarnival

Here you go. There's quite a few different designs, I just went for something colorful.

My favorite thing to do to get in/out of the crowd is to team up with a friend to lead our squad. I got this massive performance fan and my friend has a spray bottle. We go through by putting hands on peoples shoulders so they know we are behind them, then we proceed to fan and spray those around us as we walk by. Has never failed, its slower but definitely not as rude plus A LOT of fun!

Also our squad is never more than 6-8 people.

u/BluntBadger · 1 pointr/aves

i believe its similar to this red one. its about the same size, folds/unfolds really easily and its really durable.

Amajiji Womens Folding Fans ,Handmade Sequin Embroidered Fabric Colorful Folding Fans for Dancing Ball Parties (Mixed Colors, 10pcs) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MSV8RSB?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

I personally use the top fan myself, if you open and close it alot one of the sticks may separate from the fan and slide around loosely inside it, but it's massive and moves a ton of air! I buy 3 packs of the bottom link and give away 10 every day. They're a little smaller and I haven't had one break, they just don't move as much air.

u/Trance_Music · 1 pointr/aves

Quality post!

From my own experience, I bought this fan and it broke within 10 minutes of using it (the pin fell out at the bottom and couldn't be forced back together): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AFZDND0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Looking for a really quality one that will last multiple events.

I'm super grateful for this sub, and everyone in it. I have made so many friends, and you people all make my days so much more interesting. It's so nice to have people to talk to when I'm stuck at home all day every day :D

From my under $5 list or you could surprise me if I win.

stitchinbitchin loves me (and I love you too)

I keep a little hand fan in my purse at all times, because I cannot stand being hot. A friend gave me mine but a quick search on Amazon came up with quite a few

No dude. THIS is the fan you need. It’s huge, and makes a huge THRAP sound when you open it. Everyone knows they’re around a hero when you open one of those bad boys.
