I would definitely think about using combat tiers or acrylic display risers to simulate being able to move freely in Limbo. Could also use these risers to simulate debris (e.g., floating rocks and crystal geodes, etc) hurtling across the battle map. Could additionally have tiers of battle maps, representing higher and higher elevations, with the Githyanki fort at the zenith.

I found some rules for ship-to-ship combat here.

After a bit of shopping around I went with these

I’m really happy with them and the Nendoroids fit fine on them as long as they don’t need much room. But I think some of the bigger ones like Ishtar or Shimakaze will have to put in the back row.

u/Monkeysnott · 9 pointsr/criticalrole

I use these, they may not have a height meter but they work well.
Figured i would share them for those of us that are poor. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015TOTPSE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_x7cCzbCSTRB2S

We had 165 guests, and probably bought about 60-70lbs of candy (most websites recommend you have 0.5 lbs /person).

We used CVS and Amazon for bulk sized bags of the typical stuff (5lb bags of kitkat/reeses, peanut M&Ms, Haribo gummy bears and gummy cola; 1lb bags of Dove chocolate) and various online vendors for non-traditional gummy/licorice, since I'm a candy-fiend who wanted brand name, extensive, yet slightly outside-the-norm variety. We used Sweet Factory and Economy Candy, since they had the most extensive collection but there's a ton of different online vendors out there, that are all similarly priced, such as Candy Warehouse and Oriental Trading (good if you want to shop by color, and don't care about brand) We thought about springing for personalized M&M's, but found them kinda pricy and not worth it--since we had so many other types of candy, I doubt anyone would have noticed. If we were JUST doing M&M's, we probably would have done it, though I remember the shipping time taking awhile (at least in late April, during the start of wedding season)

Our candy was out the entire time, and at the end, all the chocolate was gone, most of the gummies were gone, and the licorice was eaten the least. The most popular of the unique candies were Gummy ice creams. We had about 10 or 15lbs left over, which we ate for a few days, then gave the remainder away.

All our glass jars came from various thrift stores and Michael's, and were a range of sizes, heights, and shapes. We got the scoops, bags, and a few plastic risers from Amazon, some trays from Ikea for the scoops, and then gave everything to our coordinator to set up and lay out, and let them figure out what looked best. It was a HUGE HUGE hit,and one of my favorite things to plan.

Thanks! The risers are these ones from Amazon, and the cabinet is in front of a window so it's actually just natural light coming through.

Amazon. I tried the 12” version but they are too tall. Here is the link for 9x6 that worked for me.

u/nolonger_superman · 5 pointsr/Gameboy

I got these from Amazon. They look ok, but I might try building a wooden stand or something. If you touch these, they tend to fall off the stand and cause a domino effect. If they're going on a shelf and you won't touch them often, it's probably a good buy. If they're within reach of a 6 year old, I'd recommend something sturdier.

u/HeyitzClay · 5 pointsr/amiibo

Not sure of the dimension of your cabinet but these will really make your collection pop.

u/BugbiteSwords · 5 pointsr/grandorder

The stand appears to be one of these.

u/Ecuagirl · 5 pointsr/amiibo

Deltof are used by many amiibo collectors. You're right about the best use of space though. Three tier racks help with that issue

u/NortWind · 5 pointsr/fossils

You might want to have it cut with a trim saw to reduce the bulk of the matrix. Then I would get a stand, so the specimen could be displayed upright, which will reduce the amount of dust on it, and make it more visible.

u/TheConfuzled · 5 pointsr/mineralcollectors

Also, sorry for making two comments, but I recommend that you sell off stuff you don't want, especially the smaller and lower quality pieces that many start off with as first pieces.

Here's some links for specific stands that I recommend. They should be versatile and are budget friendly.

U-Stands. Great for highlighting pieces in the back of displays and adding accents, sometimes can be rotated to create a two level effect.

Easel Stands. Good for displaying slabs or even books.

Sliding Stands. Good for vertical pieces, and can hold much more than you would think. Really wide pieces can start adding too much weight, so don't push them too far.

Peg Stands. Subtle and easy to incorporate into any display. 1 2 3

Slotted Acrylic Stands. Meant to hold labels so they're easy to see for pieces in the back or on higher shelves.

u/fightclub98 · 4 pointsr/vinyl

I bought these, comes with two and they're cheap.

u/catonegg · 4 pointsr/funkopop

No problem! I'm using these. If you get the 2-pack you save a little bit per riser. Also each one comes with a little screwdriver. I now have 10 identical screwdrivers.

u/Neobobfalcon · 4 pointsr/funkopop

Not sure if that one is the same size but I use that same model for my amiibo display

The stands are awesome, they are adjustable, it will accommodate different sizes as needed so it will even work on larger cases.

u/AnimeCreator · 4 pointsr/amiibo

the biggest issue i see here is the waste of space each shelf has. what you need are a few riser stands, make sure you measure the size of each square panel you have so you dont waste money buying something you can't use.

overall you're looking for something like this

also please put that link statue on a shelf whenever you can. its...its just wrong to leave it on the ground

I suggest either:

Depending on what you're arranging. Admittedly not from Ikea, but they fit well and look nice.

u/Spongekabob · 4 pointsr/amiibo

The IKEA Detolf cabinet is really nice. Looks fantastic, and is very affordable, I believe its 60 bucks. Ive seen so also other collectors on this sub also use the detolf cabinet, and everyone ive talked to about it loves it as well. I also use some typical acrylic risers from Amazon. Makes it so each shelf can hold around 36 amiibo (4 shelves, 144 amiibo total).

Actually these are just tops from acrylic display cases from a place called daiso japan. I think you can buy them in larger groups on their online us website & they come in different sizes.

and the nendoroids are on these.

u/LemonMIntCat · 3 pointsr/AnimeFigures

The Detolf is pretty awesome, currently have 2 of them to manage most of the amiibo. I also use these acrylic stands to make it look even better! It brings up the price quite a bit (I have 7 stands so far) but I think it's worth it to really display the collection.

u/Ghostkill221 · 3 pointsr/KingdomDeath

I know some people are getting Wave 2 Soon, and with it the Spidicules. The spidicules is one of my favorite showdowns, and unfortunately due to a unwieldy model, doesn't get as much love as it should in my opinion. So I wanted to encourage everyone to try something like this to help them out.

Tools Needed:

  • cooking pot
  • Tongs
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Superglue
  • A base (mine was the small one of these 3 from: Amazon
  • Optional: 2-3mm Drill and headpeg: Also Amazon (putting a headpeg and base on the body isnt needed for the final product but it really makes assembly much easier)

I thought this was going to be much harder than it ended up being.

Simply add salt to water(increasing boiling temp), bring it to a near boil, Submerge midsection of the leg you want to alter, then use the tongs to bend it slightly. Be sure not to submerge for too long, and try to keep the part that slides into the body out of the water.

Keep refitting the leg back into the main body and then adjusting it until its about how you want it, then glue it all together.

I previously showed my modded spidicules (sans a pair of legs and paint) but I wanted to help anyone whos getting the model new to have a more enjoyable experience with them.

Feel Free to ask any questions!

Edit: If anyone want to do the headpeg thing. I drilled a hole throughthe assembled body (without Face.) put greenstuff over the hole from the inside. then just glued the flightstand stick into position.

Edit 2: in case anyone tries this, i should mention that the headpeg actually uses 2 of the flight stands glued together.

Here's a comment with some stand recommendations that I gave to someone else.

Here's some links for specific stands that I recommend. They should be versatile and are budget friendly.

This is all really for cabinet sized pieces, but I don't really know what you have so this may or may not work.

I have a 13". I also have some wire display stands I use when I'm showing my stuff at comic cons. I took a spare one, bent the bottom straight, and taped it to the back.

It's a little hard to stick it into my bag like this but it works incredibly well to prop it up, and is very light.

Not sure that link is the actual stand, they come in multiple sizes. Right brand though.

u/keanex · 2 pointsr/vinyl

They look nice, but it's super easy to build a small "now playing" and etc shelf. I built two with no skills building anything for $10 total and 10 minutes of work. These are wall mounted and would look really nice if I put more work and skill into it.

Since these will be almost completely obstructed from view, you can replace them with cheap aluminum stands that will serve the same purpose.

This is what I use. Just ordered several more actually. Dimensions:

> 9-Inch W by 6.25-Inch D by 6-Inch H. Each step measures 2-Inch D.

These used to sit on built in shelves, but I just bought a half-height half-width Ikea Billy with a Glass door to display them instead. Set it up last night actually. Glass shelves with one of these on each shelf. The craftsmanship on each step-display is inconsistent, but for the price it is great.

I can upload a photo of my previous setup and new setup (as of last night) using the risers if you like.

Edit: Apparently I bought the last two in stock (sorry). It is sold directly by Amazon so they will restock.

u/the_nobu · 2 pointsr/araragi

Cool, great timing. Happy shopping!

By the way, I've also purchased acrylic risers that really helps make your display look better. The figures are typically much shorter than each individual shelf so the risers help balance the look.

u/BILGERVTI · 2 pointsr/AnimeFigures

I give the resin 2 or 3 minutes under the lights and that's enough to fully cure it.

If the model and rotating display are too tall to fit under the light, I support the light on some plastic boxes. Try not to look at the light and keep pets away.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VLXR7Z1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Unfortunately the rest was scrap that I had been hoarding. I salvaged that M3D mini frame from the garbage, the red UV blocking Polycarb was salvaged off of a broken laser cutter, the handle and hinge were from the junk pile (but could easily be printed), and the rest was stuff I had lying around (wire, tin foil, electrical tape, glue). You can buy uv resistant polycarb from amazon and for the case many people use small boxes or buckets like the lixhult from IKEA or a paint bucket for which they make a clear lid.

You can use a plate stand. They sell them for displaying decorative plates. Frame shops also sell mini stands for holding picture frames up without brackets. I don't know of any record specific items, but those would work fine. (Edit spelling *shod = shop)

u/DeackonFrost · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

Since you have a bunch of tiny figures you could display the most out of them with different kinds of raisers like this one or something more crazy like this one. I just linked the first thing I found, I bet you could get a better deal if you search a bit more.

u/CrowClone · 1 pointr/amiibo

u/nfreakoss · 1 pointr/gamecollecting

Sure. These are what I got, though I definitely got them cheaper (the price fluctuates so much). Don't spend more than $15 on these, the quality isn't that great; they look exactly like you see in the picture, screws and all, and aren't too stable.

u/pinkmagedon · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I actually really like the ferris wheel. Maybe you can use uhh, those hankercheif/scarves to make make-shift tents, or a circus ring to go with it. Possibly set up a mini game for small prizes, or 50 cents off or something to that effect. I'd use a flat color table cloth so everything else pops out more. White/black, probably.

something like this would display things quite well, too. Maybe for the cups. They have a whole bunch of different kinds and sizes.

u/antxcore · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

Alot of people recommend this
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00737IQRC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AQODV8VBSAK4A
But it's mainly used as a raiser. You might be able to makeshift use it as a single display.
Otherwise if you're talking about a single enclosed container for a single figure, there's not too big of a market for cheap display cases that I know of.

u/kingofquackz · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

The one in the second highest shelves of the middle and right detolf is from the container store. It's a 5x5x10 inches (dxhxw) riser.
There is a 4x4x4 riser in the second shelf of the right detolf as well which I got from amazon.

u/ShadowCrossZero · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

I used this one for the nendoroids, and these for some of the scales.

u/hotpinkfishfood · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Well to get stuff off the table take some small cardboard boxes and wrap them in pretty paper. Then you can set your stuff on them at different heights. It catches the eye more.

EDIT: I just randomly found these and thought they would be prefect for you.

u/BlamSham · 1 pointr/photography

I'm actually trying to do some jewelry photography myself.

The first method I tried is shooting on glass with diffuser panels. Then underneath the glass, I had another diffuser panel with a bright continuous light right behind it. That made the background pure white. There were no shadows because it was on glass. And the reflection doesn't show up if the background is bright enough. Unfortunately, using this method, there were a ton of reflections that I couldn't really control.

So then I tried shooting inside a light box. I cut a hole the size of my lens in a piece of big white cardboard. So the only reflection what would show up is the lens, which is easy to spot remove in photoshop. Inside the lightbox, I have the piece of jewelry on a piece of acrylic. Something like this:

https://www.amazon.ca/Medium-Profile-Riser-Clear-Acrylic/dp/B0095MH2ZU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485548418&sr=8-1&keywords=clear+risers

To make the background pure white, I put a light underneath the lightbox (I put the lightbox on top of a cardboard box with a hole it in). Then I also put a light right against the back of the lightbox. So the bottom and the back of the lightbox are very bright and make the background pure white (or very close to it so that you can just fix the levels in photoshop).

Here are some test shots I did recently:
http://imgur.com/a/DS6SI

The last one was done without a lightbox. It makes the gem stones look much more dynamic, but the lightbox makes the whole thing look cleaner and without any bad reflections. I might try and do multiple exposures so that I can get the best of both worlds with dynamic stones and also a clean overall look.

The main issue I'm having with the rings is that the clients wants the gem at the top and the band at the bottom. I've just been flipping them vertically in photoshop which looks alright, but sometimes it looks a bit funny because it's like a mirror image of the piece of jewelry. I might end up having to use wax or a fishing wire to get the rings to stand up properly in the correct orientation.

If anyone has any advice or tips for me as well, let me know. I'm not charging much ($15 per piece), and there were 37 pieces of jewelry to photograph... so my method can't take very long for each piece of jewelry.

edit: shooting with a Canon T5i at f/11, iso 100. Using a Canon 60mm f/2.8 macro lens. I'm using focus stacking also.

Oh man, all sorts of possibilities! You could go with the tried and true method of stacking the Pop boxes themselves and using those. This post for example, you can see OP used them as tiered stands on the bookshelves. Probably cheapest option since the boxes come with the Pops, most of the time.

After that, you can try buying plastic/acrylic risers. Amazon and the container store have these available most of the time, Amazon having more sizing options. Most people use the clear acrylic ones with their detolf glass cases from ikea. But they’re definitely not limited to just those cases

After that you can try making your own out of foam board. The stuff is pretty cheap at Micheal’s or Walmart and with one sheet, I think you can make ~2 stands. This was the guide I followed. Didn’t use her exact measures, but more so as a template. I’ve got 2 two tiered stands I made from this method.
Hope this helps some!

u/legacyblade · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

I have two sets of them. They don't TECHNICALLY let you fit more figures in the case, but they let you rise up figures in the back. Which lets you have more per-shelf without them covering eachother up.

Varying the verticality of each figure helps the display look more dynamic as well. (This would help a lot with your collection especially, since most of your figures are about the same size)

u/When_Ducks_Attack · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

I bought a set of these, they've worked out perfect for me... but I don't use detolf. I've got a couple of these... better use of available space than trying to retrofit to detolf-style towers.

Not sure if it would negatively affect how the disc based systems function, but some kind of raised-in-the-back, angled shelf display in each cubby would be a cool option to both eliminate some of that negative space and feature the full design of each console better. correct, my process is: detach from plate into ipa bath #1, pick up and brush in bath with paintbrush to remove excess resin, bring over to waste bin, clip supports, wet sand base / areas to touch up, dip in ipa bath#1 again and paintbrush off any more excess resin exposed by removing supports and produced during wet sand, then final dip and paintbrushing in ipa bath #2 to ensure as little resin remains on the mini as possible.
