Here's what's worked for me so far:
Skim through Loomis books.
Do not use drawing on the right side of the brain or keys to drawing.
Pick up Scott Robertson's how to draw.
Practice until you built up good control over your lines and visualize shapes. (This step will probably take months.)
Do a shit ton of figure drawing (observation exercise only)
recommended: quickposes (site), croquiscafe (youtube), line-of-action (site)
After some exposure to quickposes with a focus on observation, you can now use michael hamptons book for more understanding/correcting.
Continue figure drawing (add construction now). Attend life model drawing if you can.

I'm very close to discharge, probably today or tomorrow. The switched all but one of my IVs to oral and put me back on lower dose of diuretics. In addition to controlling fluid that way, they are giving me Plasma to lower my my INR, (like a blood clotting factor? IDK) so they can do a paracentesis before I leave. Couple other loose ends and I'm outta here. Lol
this one is great too
try this as well

EDIT> I'm NOT affiliated to the company. It's just a damn handy reference tool.
Definitely would recommend everything by Hogarth. Dynamic Figure Drawing is one of my favorites.
I have trouble recommending a particular book on realistic face drawing, but the book which helped me the most in terms of synthesizing expressions was How to Draw Anime and Game Characters Vol 2: Expressing Emotions.. I think it's a good place to start with faces because there are fewer variables to worry about. It has really helped my realistic portraiture too.
