highest priority-bass package!!!

That's right, stop dreaming, start playing.

> There are bundles on Amazon for about $250 that include an Epiphone guitar and the PS4 edition.

Worth noting that you can save some money by buying the guitar and game separately. The game including the cable is currently $41 on Amazon, while the guitar is always about $130. And any electric guitar will work, so you can trade that out for any other guitar if you like.

u/ZagatoZee · 8 pointsr/rocksmith

Game and cable - $30-40
Guitar on it's own, as low as $99.

Ibanez guitars are pretty good for metal, but also pretty versatile, and on rare occasions are seen used in some jazz bands. Can be around $200, if that's what you're willing to spend?

Do you have a friend you could borrow an old guitar from for a few weeks? If you are sure you are going to keep it up, it would definitely be worth spending a decent chunk on a decent guitar.

If not, then this or this would be a much better starter kit. I bought a cheap starter kit and within two months bought one of these guitar. It was such an improvement. This exact kit wasn't an option for me, but I'd definitely have gone for it if I had the choice. The epiphone one would be more suited for harder rock and metal, where as the Squier would be better for softer rock and country. That said, you can get a massive variety of sounds out of each for any style, so no need to worry.

If you do want to spend more on a nicer guitar, there are so many more options out there, but they wont come with all the little bits like guitar pics, an amplifier, cable, stand etc. It could get pretty pricey, so if you're not sure, stick to the starter kits for a while until you think you want to upgrade to something nicer. Here is an example of some stuff I picked out for someone a while back that wanted to go for a lower-mid range guitar starting out. Price could vary a little bit though. depending on the guitar.

Sound via hdmi from the xbox is laggy.
TV's also process their pictures before displaying them (also laggy, unless the TV has a game mode, sometimes even then)

That tends to make things trickier than they need to be for a music game.

PC has a bit more flexibility too - you can always install the game on a newer PC, and bring any DLC you've bought with you.
you can move from the 360 to an xbox one, the DLC will follow your xbox lve account, but you may have to rebuy the base game.

If the TV has a VGA input, can't you just use a pc to drive it?

The bundle guitar
seems OK,
I bought the older PC bundle, which came with a Les Paul jr instead of a Les Paul special.

I've been playing for a little over a year now. I still don't have an amp, I don't need one, I just use my PC.

u/Dayton002 · 4 pointsr/guitars

I'd recommend this guitar ( https://www.amazon.com/C-1-Schecter-Beginner-Electric-Guitar/dp/B005WPU8ZA?keywords=schecter&qid=1537242727&sr=8-3&ref=mp_s_a_1_3 ) it's a great brand and a good budget guitar. As for leaning how to play I'd recomand picking up rocksmith 2014 edition, its available on steam, xbox one, and ps4. You can get it for $20-$30 and the cable for around $30. I'd recomand the pc version since it's much easier to download custom songs and so on. It's great for beginners, teaching you the basics and has a few dozen songs with the game and literally hundreds of songs you can get and learn to play.

Traditionally, the Bigsby on a Telecaster is the Bigsby B5 or a variation of that. The B5 is a higher quality than say the B50 or B500 which are variations but built differently, and it is only marginally more expensive. If you have a traditional string through bridge on your telecaster, then you’ll have to change the bridge to something that accommodates for the strings to come across the top.

I've been pretty happy with this Epiphone Les Paul Special II.

u/Jaeryth · 3 pointsr/rocksmith

Looks like a pretty good deal. I have the Epiphone SG for rocksmith and I'm pretty satisfied with it.

u/slash178 · 3 pointsr/Guitar

The Squier Bullet is a universally recommended starter guitar.

People here will likely also recommend Rondo music guitars (not on Amazon).

Starter kits are a ripoff. Spend a little more and get a starter guitar and an amp.

u/B3nny_o · 3 pointsr/Guitar

What else do I need and are these good choices?

u/scorpious · 3 pointsr/Guitar

Yeah, you might get tired of it. So what?

Ask for something cheap for christmas and promise to give it a solid 6 months before giving up.

Better than online would be a local store and get them to include a good basic setup, just to make sure the guitar is actually playable when you receive it. Good luck!

Oh, and I started much the same way I describe; family had a clunky acoustic for years and eventually wanted to up the ante, mom got me a cheapie elec/amp and the rest is history!

u/SteelFeathr · 3 pointsr/Guitar

Hey guys, newbie here. After reading up on it I decided to get a used Yamaha Pacifica. However, I couldn't find any used 112J/112Vs in my local Guitar Center, only the entry level PAC012. I'm not too comfortable with buying used without trying the guitar hands-on, so my options right now are this:

  • ~$100. Used PAC012 at local Guitar Center (played it, think it's in good condition though I don't really know what to look for)
  • ~$200. New 112J from Amazon. I would get it from Guitar Center or the likes, but Amazon is the only seller I've found that sells the Old Violin Sunburst finish, which I like the most.
  • ~$300. New 112V, from anywhere.

I'm a broke college student, so I'd like to get the best bang for my buck. Does the upgrade from PAC012 to 112J justify a $100 increase? Or the upgrade from 112J to 112V another $100? I think I'll be getting a Roland Microcube to go with it, and play it through my headphones with a 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)
u/_Lettuce_3 · 3 pointsr/weezer

For me personally I would say a Fender Squier SSS or HSS depending on your taste. You can usually find for ~150 , but get the one with the trembolo.

You could also choose a squier telecaster for about the same price, but thats up to your taste in music.

If you arent a huge Fender fan an Epiphone SG might be good, but i dont have any past expierences with it

My friend has this guitar and he says its great for starters at its price https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000N2Q6WG/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1514488630&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=Ibanez%2BGRX20Z&th=1&psc=1

I always wanted instruments as a kid. I was fascinated that people made their own original music. The two that I wanted the most was a guitar and a bass. I own 2 guitars, a ukulele, and a guitlele.

Link to the one on my WL

Fun facts:

One of my uncles is in a band in Mexico. He plays the saxophone and the trumpet.

My paternal grandfather, that lives in Mexico, taught himself how to play guitar.

I was named after a singer in a Mexican band.

But all the cool kids have one!

u/Tjinsu · 2 pointsr/Guitar

Take a look at the Squier Mustang. They're very comfortable and light weight guitars and really easy to maintain as hundreds of them are around, really good beginner guitar. $150 and can probably find one for $100 or so used easily.

u/ZachOps · 2 pointsr/Guitar

Im sure that is more then good enough, My uncle bought me this one for a start.

u/original_pastafarian · 2 pointsr/casualiama

because of the electronics, it was actually more expensive than if I was buying a cheap electric guitar

you might get better value from:

You should be able to find this kind of deal at your local retailer. It's a shit instrument that wouldn't be used professionally, but it's a fine toy.

Singing is my greatest strength actually. I have a very naturally almost operatic voice, very proud of it.

u/Vinicelli · 2 pointsr/Guitar

Les Pauls are solid guitars don't get me wrong, but Squier has undergone a big quality upgrade in the last few years. Out of the two you just mentioned I'm a fan of SGs from what I've played and plan on getting one in the near future. You can get one for under 200$ with a little digging. This ones an Epiphone but you're paying for the name with Gibson as well. http://www.amazon.com/Epiphone-Special-Electric-Guitar-Cherry/dp/tags-on-product/B0002D01IG

u/notjosemanuel · 2 pointsr/Guitar

Yeah there's not much around me in terms of music related shops, I'll just pay for the shipping and get it from Amazon, I have my eyes on the Oscar, the sg and the les paul

u/Radedo · 2 pointsr/personalfinance

Sorry, [this](Epiphone Les Paul SPECIAL-II Electric Guitar, Vintage Sunburst https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002CZUV0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Qoqzzb2X8TKTH) is the link, but the deal has already expired. If it makes you feel any better though it stopped working not long after I placed the order (I tried telling my friend and he couldn't get the same discount).

u/Simone232 · 2 pointsr/Guitar

So something like this or this?

u/darkfear95 · 2 pointsr/Guitar

I recently bought a new guitar off amazon, after playing one at a friends place and I really liked the sound, however I've got a question about a similar model. Why does this guitar seem to have something before the final place the strings go, while the guitar I bought doesn't?

If it's cosmetic, that's good. I bought the one guitar purely based off of the color. Any help?

u/KaNikki · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Would this be suitable for a 16 year old with no musical background? If so, would there be anything else I should include with it? I hate getting someone a gift and them having to get other components.

u/yayaja67 · 2 pointsr/BassGuitar

This was my first bass: https://www.amazon.com/Electric-Guitar-Starter-Beginner-Package/dp/B003GWQJUE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496162154&sr=8-1&keywords=davison+bass+guitar

They don't come much cheaper than this, and it was actually pretty decent. I got a good year out of it before I out grew it and upgraded to a Squier. I still use the amp it came with.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Holy shit! My birthday is on September 4th as well! :D

Happy (almost) birthday, birthday twin! :D

u/Renegadent · 2 pointsr/Guitar

Is this guitar suitable for a beginner or would I be better off going for a used one? It looks like it's at a great price and I've been hoping to get into learning for a while now. I was planning on perhaps using this with Rocksmith. Thoughts?

u/FatBabyBrother · 2 pointsr/Guitar

You really need to go to a guitar store before you throw down $X for a guitar... ignore the color and the logo... I just sold my MIM Strat because it felt awfull (neck is to small for my hands) turns out I really like the wider Gibson/Epiphone style bodies.

Also, don't spend $300 for your first guitar.. maybe in a year (if you last a year) upgrade.

Here's an Epiphone for $149 (on sale, Its a $300 guitar)

http://www.amazon.com/Epiphone-Special-Electric-Vintage-Sunburst/dp/B0002CZUV0/ref=sr_1_2?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1451256946&sr=1-2&keywords=epiphone

I have one in Wine and its a solid guitar.. but you really have to put whatever you want to buy in your hands and feel it for yourself.

u/SlowMobiusHS · 2 pointsr/Guitar

You can get a new Squier Bullet Mustang and a Boss Katana 50 for $370 plus tax. That's a pretty fine starter rig.

You can save a little on the amp and go with something smaller like a Blackstar ID Core, but the Katana is probably a better overall choice.

u/alexinkpen · 2 pointsr/greenday

It's a kinda crappy beginner's guitar cause I don't know how to play it

u/radioactive_seagull · 2 pointsr/rocksmith

I just saw this on amazon (non-affiliate link), seems like a great deal within your budget and it's got very positive reviews so far. Definitely a steal at $99.99.

u/tclayson · 2 pointsr/guitars

If you want something for around $100 then look at Squier (by Fender). Basically they're poor man's Fender. I've had a couple of them, and still have one and they're very good for cheap low-end guitars.

I wouldn't get the one in your question... I've never heard of that brand, and judging by the condition of their website, I don't hold much faith for their guitars.

Definitely go for a Squier.

http://www.amazon.com/Squier-Fender-BulletStrat-Trem-Daphne/dp/B001L8IICM/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1342989728&sr=8-4&keywords=squier

In a similar vein, if you can spare a few more $$$ then have a look at the Epiphone range. Epiphone are the Squier's of the Gibson world. The'yre usually a bit more expensive than Squier, but you get a bit more quality. I have an Epiphone dot guitar which is as good (if not better) than my Fender Strat, and cost less than half as much. Here's an example of a nice entry level Epiphone: http://www.amazon.com/Epiphone-Special-Electric-Vintage-Sunburst/dp/B0002CZUV0/ref=sr_1_121?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1342990146&sr=1-121&keywords=epiphone

Remember Amazon's probably not the best place to go for guitars. You will probably get some better deals elsewhere. Have a look around. I would definitely go for a well known make when it comes to budget guitars. If the name is not well known, and its cheap then its definitely not worth it. High quality less-well-known guitar makes are very expensive, so when you're looking at the low end of guitars go for something well known.

u/gdsmithtx · 2 pointsr/Guitar

You may want to wait for Black Friday deals if they will be available for you in Canada.

If it were someone I was buying a Strat-style for, and I was buying now, I'd spend a little more:

fear cuts deeper than words

Edit #1 - Replaced #1 #2, #9, #13, #15, edited some text, added bonuses

Okay, so a lot of my items are similar, or are kind of "flexing" the rules, but I will leave official rulings up to you. Here goes!

  1. Something Grey - Strip of magnesium - This actually just got gifted to me. This coal trash can is silver, which is basically grey :D

2)Something reminiscent of rain - Zen Garden - Flexing the rules. It's only related because it's a garden. An umbrella!! I don't have one of these, and I have no idea why.

  2. Food related - Pineapple corer/slicer

  3. On wishlist not for me (this is for my fiancee) - Apple Cider k-cups

  4. A book you should read - Everyone should have the Joy of Cooking

    6)Item less than a dollar - MP3

  5. Something related to cats - This is related because of that scene in "Christmas Vacation" where the cat gets electrocuted

  6. [Beautiful but not useful - Lego adoption of Brandenburg Gate](
    http://www.amazon.com/LEGO%C2%AE-Architecture-Brandenburg-Gate-21011/dp/B0050R0V3O/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=E9RD1GO4V1KF&coliid=I22USNN7FC4LVL)

  7. Movie everyone should see once - Not on wishlist - Harlan County, USA. This documentary is nearly perfect in every sense of the word. This movie is so powerful, and so real, it's just unbelievable. One of my favorites. I always suggest it when someone asks "what documentary should I see?"

  8. Something useful when Zombies attack - Kinect Your Shape Fitness Evolved - You need to be able to Outwit, Outrun, and Outlast.

  9. Profound impact on life - Guitar. I really want to learn how to play, and my dad was going to teach me, but he passed before he was able to. It would mean a lot to share that passion with him even though he's already moved on

  10. Add-On Item - Cat6 cable!!!

  11. Most expensive item -It's actually the guitar, so I went with the 2nd most expensive which is a Logitech G19 keyboard Nope. It's actually this amp.

  12. Bigger than a bread box - Mizuno backpack

  13. Smaller than a golf ball - Not sure if a k-cup would count, but I threw it in there. If it doesn't count, I will find something else It doesn't. Here's some ship and anchor cufflinks I really want for my wedding :)

  14. Something that smells wonderful - Kind of cheating, but a different k-cup. Donut shop coffee is the BEST. Changed to a different beverage. I have a horrible addiction to this stuff, and it smells wonderful (to me)

  15. SFW Toy - Legos are a toy!! :D

  16. Helpful going back to school - I listed the Zen Garden again because it's helpful to have something peaceful when going back to school

  17. Something related to your current obsession - I am OBSESSED with Lorde. I have stated this many times over the last week.

  18. Something amazing/awe inspiring - SERIOUSLY. LOOK AT THIS FUCKING CHAIR. THIS MOTHERFUCKER RIGHT HERE? THIS SHIT FOLDS UP SO YOU CAN CARRY IT. NOT GOOD ENOUGH? SHIT, SON. THIS BITCH HAS TWO ARMRESTS FOR YOUR LAZY ASS. STILL BITCHING? GUESS WHAT DICKLIPS, THIS BITCH HAS TWO CAN HOLDERS AND A FUCKING COOLER. YOU DON'T EVEN NEED TO GET YOUR BITCH ASS UP TO GET A DRINK, BAM, YOU ALREADY GOT ONE. IT EVEN HAS A POUCH TO HOLD YOUR OTHER SHIT, IF ALL OF THIS ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH. YOU NEED TO HAVE THIS CHAIR.

BONUS #1 - I looked through your reddit history (not very hard, but I did look), and came up empty, so I'll just post something later that might fit.

BONUS #2 - These blankets are made in Oregon, and look SUPER cool. Not on my WL (I have more than enough blankets), but I really like them.

I may attempt the bonuses tomorrow, we will see. This is definitely a placeholder until rulings on some items are made. Fix'd :D

For rocksmith something without a tremolo bar might be better so it's easier to change tunings. It's not that hard but why have the inconvenience when Rocksmith doesn't make use of it.

It's a Squier Affinity, specifically I bought this starter pack: https://www.amazon.com/Squier-Fender-Dreaming-Start-Playing/dp/B00GGY67I8.

I think it was a good starting guitar, although I probably should have just started with something with humbuckers based on what I wanted to play. But I wasn't sure at the time if I was going to stick with it and it seemed like a good looking guitar for the price.

Even though I have a much nicer guitar now I still play with this one sometimes. Mine was setup pretty well and I don't have any complaints really for the price!

u/SparkCSGO · 1 pointr/Guitar

from what ive seen most pedals are like 50 dollars or so, id rather not spend more than 100, i currently have this amp https://www.amazon.com/Sawtooth-ST-AMP-10ST-AMP-10-10-Watt-Electric-Guitar/dp/B00FBRUSAE

u/djeneratorofhate · 1 pointr/Guitar

225 USD is pretty short for a guitar AND amp. If that's what you can spend then I would strongly recommend you to take the "starter packs" from Fender Squier (arround 200-250usd I guess) that include a Squier Fender guitar, a 10W amp, picks, jack...

The quality isn't too bad, and should give you a nice beginning with guitars.
You should also try some guitars in your local shop to see which one you seem more comfortable with.

Is this cheap little guitar ok enough to use this "game" on/and learn how to play? http://www.amazon.com/Electric-Accessories-Beginner-Starter-Package/dp/B002RXXOX8/ref=pd_sim_vg_9

u/truthink · 1 pointr/rocksmith

Ya? So not mentioning those details kinda indicates some issues they're not sharing? I'm open to not buying it. Before finding it, I was set on buying this Epiphone Les Paul and getting a quality setup.

Logic Pro or Pro Tools are both very adept DAWs(though very lengthy and taking a class on it is much recommended) but by god you can make incredible things in them.

I'd recommend a MIDI guitar (http://www.amazon.com/You-Rock-YRG-1000-Controller-Electric/dp/B003DC78FW) This is an example, should look around for the best. They allow you to play guitar, but instead of inputting it as sound waves, it inputs it as digital data(MIDI). This "digital data" is the notes, velocity, chords, length, etc. but with no sound.

You then use "sample libraries" that will take those notes, and play it with the sound of a cello. Or the sound of a keyboard. Or a trumpet. This is all done very simply from the first 2 programs i mentioned.

u/Mephiska · 1 pointr/rocksmith

You don't mention a budget, but really for a starter guitar I have absolutely no complaints about the Les Paul Special II. It's a fantastic starter guitar and you won't realize it's "really crappy" after. It's from a reputable company with a warranty, and the quality out of the box is way above the awful, cheap no-name brand I tried at first (and immediately returned).

Honestly if you're just starting I wouldn't drop a ton of money on an expensive guitar, especially brand new. The LP Special II is cheap enough that you don't feel like you wasted a ton of money if you want to move on to something better later on, and you may even want to keep it around.

I was so happy with the LP Special II that I picked up the Epiphany DR-100 Acoustic Dreadnought, and was again impressed with the quality for the price ($99).

u/madshm3411 · 1 pointr/Guitar

I started with this guitar about 15 years ago, and I still have it today. Squire makes some excellent guitars for the price.

The pack comes with a shitty amp, but you'll pay the same price for the pack on Amazon as you will for the guitar itself, so it at least gets you started. Once you start to get good and decide you like playing guitar, you can upgrade the amp and it will drastically improve the sound of the guitar.

Like anything with guitar, it's just a suggestion - everyone is different - but I'd say you can't go wrong with that starter pack.

u/Retroactive_Spider · 1 pointr/rocksmith

Just search for "Fender Squeir" on Amazon, you'll see what's up. Avoid the bundles (comes with a case and/or amp). You can always pick those up later. Here's the difference between what you see:

  • telecaster - has three pick-ups (the sensors under the strings) and a tremolo ("whammy") bar. The bar makes the strings audibly go up and down while you press it, but can also cause the guitar to go out of tune sooner. The area where the neck meets the body also has more room for your hand to fret the super-high notes.
  • stratocaster - has two pick-ups and no whammy bar.

Just got this one it's coming in on Monday.

u/SaveLivesGetLaid · 1 pointr/Guitar

My suggestion would be to save up for double that amount if you can. That would put you in the range of some decent beginner guitars. To be honest, $50 is not going to get you a lot, even in the used market. But a $50 guitar is better than no guitar, so if that's your budget and that's your plan, then you should go for it.

Based on what you've said I'm deducing that you want to start on an electric? I would not recommend going "below" a Squier Affinity series Strat, which you may be able to find used for <$100, but keep in mind that you will have to budget for a practice amp as well.

The best thing to do might be to borrow your friend's guitar if he has an extra, or let you "try" his. This way you can get a feel for the instrument, and decide if that's really something you're interested in while you do your research.

u/akhroat · 1 pointr/pakistan

so i was initially eyeing this one. but after u mentioned an hss combo i found this one. hss guitar is $100 more but comes with 20 watt amp.
which one offer best value for the money?

u/tmwrnj · 1 pointr/Guitar

Seconded. Epiphone and Squier have starter packs for around $200 that include very playable guitars. A sub-$100 off-brand guitar is likely to be an exercise in frustration. The lowest I'd go would be the Schecter C-1 SGR.

u/Themysteriousstrange · 1 pointr/rocksmith

I highly recommend Ibanez and epiphone. Jackson also has a good model at $200. Just make sure you don't get a Floyd rose. They're terrible for a beginner and a hassle for even experienced guitar players.

But if you can find one with a standard style bridge they're great for a beginner

You could go to a guitar store to get a feel for the different kinds of guitars, but I understand that's really hard to do as a beginner. It's hard to know how you like to play before you know how to play I guess is what I'm saying.

Also $150 can get you a perfectly fine beginner guitar. If you went up to $200 you'd have a lot more options, but $150 is doable.

This one would probably be good

But not anything with a bridge like this:

Haven't played in a while but looking to get back into things. Was wondering which of these three you all would recommend:

Option 1 - Ibanez AS53

Option 2 - Epiphone Les Paul 100

Option 3 - Ibanez AG75

Any major differences between the two Ibanez models other than color and extra knobs? Will the semi-hollow body of the Ibanez models impact the sound in a major way? Any thoughts much appreciated :)

I agree with this. A Fender Squier Strat, (even the affinity) is a GREAT first guitar with the understanding that you are going to spend 9 months to a year learning what it is to play guitar. Then you will have a better idea of what you want and you can trade up.

Squier is like a rite of passage for many guitar players. Plus, if you decide it's not for you, you're not out more than a couple hundred bucks.

You can get very cheap package guitar and amp deals for beginners.

Example:

Squier by Fender Affinity Stratocaster Beginner Electric Guitar Pack with Fender FM 10G Amplifier, Clip-On Tuner, Cable, Strap, Picks, and gig bag - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008F4UQVQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_9DNtzb0CYQDBF

I've got some experience with an acoustic, I'm looking to move up to electric now. No need to worry about amps, pedals, or anything like that. I have a plan. The main thing I need to worry about, obviously, is what guitar to get. I'm on a tight budget (up to $200, but you can try to convince me to $250). I'm only looking for a simple, entry-level guitar, nothing that requires the mother-of-all-amps or a studio to sound good (I'm a budget college kid :P)

The two I'm considering are the Yamaha Pacifica or the Les Paul Special-II (any other ideas for LPs?). I do want to be able to play a mix of both pop/funk and also classic rock/heavy rock, so I need something with a decent enough pickup set.

Looking at these two models in particular, I've found this:
[For the Yamaha.] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001CC3Q74/sr=8-1/qid=1496817722/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me=&qid=1496817722&sr=8-1) No clue what those numbers and letters in the "Style" menu mean... help pls?

...and this, for the Special II Also a bundle option there. Like I said, don't need amps, but still, if my original plan doesn't work, tell me if that pack would be any good.

So yeah, that's more or less where I'm at. Ideas? Suggestions? Anything in particular I should look for? As I said, I have NO CLUE what many of these 112V or J or whatever tags are supposed to mean, so uh... given what I was looking for, maybe you all could help fill me in? As I said for anything on the instrument that depends on amps, pedals, etc., don't worry, that's covered.

EDIT: Formatting derps.

About the amp I can tell you that is really cool, in It's software It has a shit ton of pedals to modify the sound, for a bedroom player I'd really recomend It.

It's one of these

https://www.amazon.com/Epiphone-SPECIAL-II-Electric-Guitar-Ebony/dp/B0002CZUUG

It's in black like the link. It needs a bit of soldering work (something is loose in it so it has intermittent connection) and the knobs have been replaced to white. I can take actual pictures of it in a bit. I would want $120 shipped and insured (I wouldn't make much money off of this due to the cost to ship, but I would rather just get rid of it).

What are the requirements for a guitar? I know nothing about them but have been looking on amazon and at some local pawn shops. What are your thoughts on the difference between something like this and something like this?

u/ChickenTaco · 1 pointr/Guitar

I started on the equivalent of this and then about $100 line 6 amp: http://www.amazon.com/Epiphone-Special-Collection-Electric-Guitar/dp/B0002CZUUG

It's the only thing I have used in this price range so I can't speak to anything else but for a beginner I would recommend it.

I think an important thing here is to also pay for someone to set the guitar up (adjust the truss rod, action etc).

u/Scorp63 · 1 pointr/Guitar

If you want a GREAT electric on the cheaper side by Epiphone, they make this guitar which was actually suggested to me as a beginner. It's an amazing guitar, and I've been using it some for Rocksmith until my lessons for Acoustic begin in August.

u/reddyu2319 · 1 pointr/Bass

I'm currently using this Davison bass guitar.

If you want that more les paul sound I would look at this one instead:

if you want to go cheaper but still a really quality guitar (this guitar can do a variety of sounds due to its pickup configuration):

Much obliged. I actually ordered an Epiphone LP Special II Les Paul just a few hours ago. Assuming I actually stick with guitar this time around, I figure I'll have enough experience to walk into a guitar shop a year from now and pick exactly the guitar I want.

Any recommendations on strings/tools? Should I plan to turn my neck in X months? I noticed from a review on this particular guitar that the strings are lighter. Should I invest in a set of heavier strings and truss/rod adjustment now? I've held other guitars years ago and in a very amateur appraisal remember liking lighter strings because I didn't have to press so hard to get a note. I don't remember much more so hopefully this won't make Rocksmith impossible to play.

u/XiXLLAMAXiX · 1 pointr/rocksmith

Linking the guitar I used with rocksmith for about a year. Currently $100 for the guitar, a small amp, and travel bag. +$10 for the soldering iron I had to get to repair it when I managed to step on the cable... decent enough for if you want to get something cheap to start off with.

Hey guys, I'm new to guitars and reddit in general, so please be patient with me if that's all right. I just started playing guitar for the first time. I know almost nothing about it and have some minor musical knowledge (played clarinet for a year or two.) I ordered my electric guitar from Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002RXXOX8/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1496877024&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=electric+guitar&dpPl=1&dpID=41ZEJsVcjkL&ref=plSrch , as seen here. When I first got it, it played perfectly and seemed to be completely all right, but when I tried tuning it for the first time, one of the strings became "loose" and way more movable than the others. It doesn't produce any good notes and sounds awfully sour. Here are some pictures to show what happened.

http://i.imgur.com/Zf2NFIe.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/iK1OQM0.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/EIQX5IZ.jpg

So, what exactly happened to the string? If it's broken or needs to be adjusted, how can I fix it? Is the guitar playable like this? Thanks in advance.

a lot of those bands use guitars like Les Pauls and SGs with a HH pick up configuration. i personally would point you toward the epiphone Les Paul or SG. They are made from mahogany which will give you a darker sound for heaver stuff. http://amzn.com/B007AGR6KE this is an epiphone SG that would kick ass for your first guitar or a cheaper one here http://amzn.com/B0002D01IG that would work alright, on the les paul side here is a great one http://amzn.com/B0002CZURO
but for a cheaper one i would recommend this one http://amzn.com/B0002CZUV0 . however, the same guitar comes with a bundle with an amp and everything to get you started for 200$ here http://amzn.com/B00A6D50L0 . also because your going to be getting into guitars im going to point you to some places for you to learn how to to play and reliable places to buy stuff from

for lessons http://www.justinguitar.com/

for guitar tabs http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/

to learn how to read a tab http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/lessons/for_beginners/how_to_read_tabs.html?no_takeover

places to buy stuff

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/

http://www.zzounds.com/

http://amazon.com/ <it works but i would not use it as my primary for guitar stuff

also try to stay away from guitar center until you have a good knowledge base or they might just rip you off. Sam ash is a good store and any localy owned shop will probably do you good. if you live in the Atlanta GA area i highly recommend Ken Stanton Music but they only have 5 stores :(

oh yeah also your going to need to replace guitar strings when you do buy one (well you don't need to but i would do it) so here is a video on how to do that http://youtu.be/DrLKlJS1wEo . now your going to have to buy new strings at some point. The 2 brands i highly recommend is daddario and erine ball (i personally like daddario) a pack of string from them is like 5-6$. now strings come in different sizes for beginners i would recommend a set of 9s like these http://amzn.com/B0002H0A7E or these http://amzn.com/B0002M6CW6 . just follow the video on how to replace strings and you will be good.

you will need a tuner also. for a beginner i would get on that clips on the head stock like this one http://amzn.com/B005MR6IHK also with that you need to learn what notes to tune a guitar to E standard tuning is EADGBE (Eddie Ate Dynamite Good Bye Eddie) but with your music taste you are going to need to learn E flat and Drop D aswell. E flat is (Eb,Ab,Db,Gb,Bb,Eb) and drop D is just E standard with the 6th string tuned down to D (DADGBE). any way that should be enough to push you in the right direction for learning guitar. hope it works out for you. if you have questions you can just PM me or something.

Hello,

I'd recommend a LP style guitar, and a Marshall or valve amp (up to 30W) depending on what kind of audience you're playing to.

Guitar similar to this:
