[The ER Bible] (http://www.amazon.com/Emergency-Nursing-Core-Curriculum-Sue/dp/1416037551) It covers everything you will see in the ED from ruptured globes to epidural bleeds. It is a little old now, published in 2007, but still a great resource for a new RN.

Sheehy’s Manual of Emergency Care is really good.

I also like Emergency Nursing Made Incredibly Easy, but if you have to pick on, go with Sheehy's.

There are a few blogs I go to and a few podcasts I listen to, although with the exception of NurseEM, they're mostly for physicians:

Emcrit.Org

NurseEM.Org

RebelEM

The first one is a staple for emergency nursing and often recommended for CEN studying.

Book 1

Book 2

Watch your preceptor for time management and prioritization. You'll get plenty of skills practice as you go. Look it up if you don't understand. Watch the attitude of your coworkers and monitor how it affects you and the rest of the unit. You will probably get jaded quick but perhaps not every ED is the same. Good luck. Rock that shit.

I can't believe no has has mentioned the book Pass CEN!. Awesome resource. Outline format. Very little fluff.
