Cycle: TTC for 22 months

Ovulation cycle day: I stopped using ovulation tests a few months ago as my cycles have always been pretty regular, and I started forgetting and didn't want to spend more money on them. I knew about when I would be ovulating, so we just made sure to hit that window. I noticed EWCM on CD 12 and my app calculated (I assume from previous history) that I ovulated on CD 16.

Relevant BD/BD method (SMEP, Shettles, etc.): BD on CD 9, 12, 14, 17 and 23!

Tracking methods and apps used: Glow app

Symptom spotting: I had fatigue and headache on CD 16 and 17 and the sore breasts began on CD 18 and haven't stopped since! I've also noticed in the past week that my nipples have been sore. The even bothered me throughout the day from rubbing on my bra! I thought it was definitely odd that my breasts were that sore for so long.

Day of positive test(s): The evening of Friday, June 2, CD 28, DPO 12! I bought a test on my way home from work because I just had a feeling. Honestly though, when I took it I was just expecting a negative, as that has always been the result. I could barely finish in the bathroom before it turned a blazing positive!! Didn't even have to use 1st morning urine!

Supplements and medications: I have been taking prenatals since before we started TTC. I wasn't sure how soon we'd conceive, so I wanted to be sure I had a good supply of nutrients in my body beforehand, in case it happened quickly. Here is the list:

New Chapter Prenatal - (3 pills a day)

NOW DHA/EPA - (1 pill a day)

Solger Folate - (1 pill a day)

Vital Proteins Beef Liver -
(I was taking 1 pill a day, now I upped it to 3 pills a day)

Viva Naturals Krill Oil - (1 pill every other day)

Great Lakes Collagen Powder - (I haven't been taking this while TTC, but I've already purchased some and will be using it every day!)

Birth control history, if relevant: I haven't been on birth control in many, many years.

Health conditions/medical tests: Chronic headaches, although I have noticed that it's pretty much food related. That and my acne. I've been eating much better the past couple months and it's made a HUGE difference. I never was tested for anything, since we were TTC for 22 months. Hubs did get tested in March and everything came back completely normal. I had my yearly checkup in July, so that was when I was going to discuss my next steps.

Other (advice, magic secrets, freaking out, miscellaneous): According to all the apps and my calculations, today I am 4 weeks, 1 day! Hubs and I couldn't be more excited!! I know it's still really early, and that scares us a little, but we've never seen a positive test before and today I AM PREGNANT! It's been a hard 22 months for the both of us, but when we saw that positive, it made it all worth it. As for how I'm feeling today: I have been cramping a little bit and my chest is still sore. No morning sickness yet, but honestly I can't wait for ALL THE SYMPTOMS! I'll be calling my doctor on Monday morning to schedule my first appointment. :D

I’m so sorry for what you’re going through, it sucks when these things are not in our control. Another commenter mentioned doing some yoga, and I agree- there are a lot of good free classes online. You could start with some slow, even breathing ( inhale for a count of 4, exhale for 4) and then begin to extend the exhale (inhale for 4, exhale for 6)- this will activate the relaxation function in the parasympathetic nervous system.

I’ve been taking this adrenal health supplement for quite a while and I really notice a calming effect. I like tulsi tea for that as well.

The Overwhelmed Brain podcast has been a great help to me.

Also, I don’t know how cleanly you’ve scraped all your jars and bowls, but I’ve been surprised with scraps in times of need before.

You are not alone! Up until a few weeks ago I would have never turned to anyone in my life for the things I talked about online. I’ve gotten a great amount of support from strangers on Reddit, there is no shame in that. Sending you love and support!!

sounds like you need to load up your Retinol and Vitamin D stores. Find local farms and only buy from ones that meet your standards for animal treatment. Ruminants are extremely important for holistic farming and bringing life back to the land.

Have you tried any supplements?

I’m about 3 weeks into carnivore and week 2 was absolute hell on my stomach.

I did some research and added the following supplements and I’m back to all good. They aid with animal fat digestion. I added the iron because I feel it helps with PMS emotional symptoms.

I also did a 24 Hour fast with just bone broth, which helped too - a reset kind of. And 1 Metamucil tablet a day for 3-4 days.

lipase

ox bile

iron

Good luck!

u/curryoutnow · 3 pointsr/Supplements

That supplement looks good, however it contains 5-HTP and melatonin. I do not like raising serotonin in my body(see Ray Peat's advice about serotonin). I prefer using ashwagandha for inducing sleep, a CO2 extract will do nicely.

I use this: https://www.amazon.com/Himalaya-Organic-Ashwagandha-Caplets-Anti-Stress/dp/B0002BBATC

It raises testosterone, lowers cortisol, improves thyroid function.

I wasn't overcome with an urge to explain myself at the time, I see this type of comment and hear it so often outside of reddit that it evoked a gut response. Returning to my computer after a few days and seeing a suggestion from a mod to elaborate I’ll try to do so now. Wall of text incoming:

When you first realize that something comforting you is actually holding you back and preventing you from moving out of the situation that causes you pain there is a collision of urge with reason. You’re wracked with anxiety, and the thing you’re using to meet that need of comfort, love, or stability no longer invokes the same untainted relief it once did. You now see the thoughts of meeting this need you have as craving, and when you resist it even just a little bit the craving can intensify. It feels like a positive feedback loop of fear, anxiety, physical/in-your-body discomfort, clouded thinking, action you now recognize as a bad choice, temporary relief, shame/self-loathing, then back to fear...

This can go on for years somewhat unconsciously. You may have moments of clarity that recede back into the darkness, and the same epiphanies come back around like they’re in some wide orbit. This in itself can add another layer of shame and fear, you’ll feel yourself getting older and the pain of missing out on life can reach a fever pitch.

When someone says “the cravings lessen but never go away”, to a person who is in the throws of these cravings, and who is likely seeing the physical discomfort and the obsession as one symptom, this is a life sentence. Why would I even bother to stop if this skin-crawling, hot, tense, thought-scrambling craving never goes away completely? So you’re saying that, unless I keep smoking weed I’ll never feel completely normal and clear-headed again (if you can call the high and the after glow "normal and clear-headed.")

I’m up for having a go at a thorough explanation, so first of all, let's ask “why do I feel this need to comfort myself?” We need some insight and background knowledge to make more sense of this. Chances are you’re dealing with, and bare with the idea for a second, multi-generational trauma. Every human born will experience this to some degree, even if it’s not your standard definition of ‘trauma.’ Plus you’re dealing with a current life situation that is inherently unfulfilling. Multi-generational trauma can be something as obvious as rape and degrees of molestation, non-sexual violence and verbal abuse and as subtle as pernicious patterns of co-dependency, coldness from a caregiver and subtle verbal takedowns from family members and life-long friends, or even a series of common social experiences that can be scarring when accumulated, which can leave one wondering if it’s really there at all, and you may ask yourself “why am I being so dramatic and sensitive when others have it so much worse?” Inherently unfulfilling life situations can also take on a wide-range of forms that from the outside may or may not be obvious.

There’s even more background info that is necessary to consider: We Americans (pardon my assumption) live in a capitalist democracy that, in practice, is a “meritocracy.” what it means for you is this: you feel when something good happens in your life you’re completely responsible for it (job, lover, other personal accomplishment) but when something bad happens or nothing happens you’re also responsible. This is a relatively new idea in the world, and seemed absurd to non-americans even 200 years ago. You don’t choose where you’re born, who you’re born to, what befalls you in early childhood or even adulthood, but this culture and economy, which is spreading through the species, runs on the idea that whatever you want you can get with personal hard work and vision. I’m not saying this is bad or good, it's just something to recognize, especially when we condemn ourselves for not meeting certain goals and expectations.

We want a simple answer to our problems, and there usually is one, but we need to synthesize it from a complexity of information, some of which is specific to you, and we have to avoid latching onto a pre-packaged answer floating around society. e.g. you have a disease, this is what it will be like forever, and it’s not your fault because there’s something wrong with your brain. People saying that trying to help forget just how fucking intense it is in the beginning, damning a newly-hatching mind to ultimate despair. I’ll tell you right now the beginning is the same and different for everyone. personal, highly individual pains that haven’t been felt in years will emerge, memories long forgotten will flood back in. It’s a relief (you’re no longer smothered by the plant’s effects) and it’s painful at the same time. In my personal case I needed to see a therapist for a couple months even before I quit completely to work through trauma that i didn’t even know i had, that echoed down through my life from my childhood and pre-teen years.

Okay, getting to the point. You’re going to still have cravings, lucid dreams of smoking, and moments of despair questioning your choice to stop if you’re situation and understanding of the situation that first drew you to a dependence on weed hasn’t changed much. If you’re not convinced you need to stop smoking or ingesting weed to regain the energy and emotional clarity to move out of your shitty situation then it's futile to try. I’ll post a list of reasons to quit smoking at the end of this reply (that I didn’t come up with, I saw it on a youtube video) that you can write down and carry around with you to remind yourself. You'll know you've made the decision because the cravings will have subsided substantially, and soon will all together unless triggered by acute emotional pain. If not, work on other things first, find a therapist and a good PCP, especially a DO or an MD that understands integrative medicine.

There are a lot of supplements out there that only make really expensive piss. Some good ones to research and consider buying are relora, which you can get off of Amazon, the one I take is by Pure Encapsulations, a high-end adrenal support complex like this or this, creatine, vitamin D if you live in a place or have a lifestyle that doesn’t get much sun, omega-3 if you don’t eat fish often. I doubt I need to mention drinking plenty of water, cutting out some of the bullshit food, and going for a walk once in awhile.

You may be overtaken with the idea that, because you’ve lost time you need to go full-tilt, you need to do all of it all at once and to an extreme to compensate and “catch up.” Don’t let yourself get trapped by that. You’ll burn out.

Accepting the idea that you need to say no to friends family and the internalized expectations you have shackled to you, to think of yourself and meet your needs in a direct rather than roundabout way, is easy when you realize that there are so many people that couldn’t say no and they got sick, and I mean actually sick, like cancer, heart disease, fibromyalgia, or they committed suicide. That probably won’t be you because you’ve read this far already.

Closing suggestion: think of what you loved when you were young, recall the subtle pull that you felt. Where were you being pulled? Don’t force it, and if you don’t feel it yet or feel a gut-tightening revulsion to this idea then don’t despair, just work on meeting your needs and self-parenting until you’re clear enough.

That is a very high amount of adderall. Ritalin releases a lot of norepinephrine and adderall releases a ton of norepinephrine and adrenaline (both energy producing chemicals in the brain) which is probably why you aren't feeling much of any energy from the kratom. This product has helped me tremendously on the days I don't take kratom: https://www.amazon.com/Gaia-Herbs-Adrenal-Support-Phyto-Caps/dp/B00F1J8EKI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1494279118&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=adrenal+health&psc=1 This helps restore the adrenal glands which kratom/stimulants deplete.

Sure! Generally, the diagnosis is done through a breath test. Please understand the breath test is not available from every practitioner. I wound up getting a referral to a GI clinic where a physician’s assistant I saw was quite accustomed to prescribing SIBO breath tests. Another place to get it without issue is from a naturopath if you’re open to seeing one. They are quite accustomed to prescribing these tests.

The test is performed at home by eating a limited diet for a day, fasting overnight, and then drinking a lactulose solution after taking a baseline and before performing the remainder of the test. Samples are taking by breathing into a test tube or other collection device over the course of an hour or so, while you begin to digest the lactulose. It measures how your body responds to this sugary solution. A limit of the test is it will only pick up on overgrowth in the upper part of the small intestine, while some people have overgrowth in the lower regions.

If you test positive you will likely be prescribed Rifaxamin, which is an antibiotic that doesn’t get digested until it hits the small intestine, so it’s perfect for targeting SIBO. The only problem with it I found is it is very expensive ($1500 for a three-week course, with multiple courses almost always needed) so depending on your health care coverage, you may or may not be able to afford it. My insurance did not cover it, so I had to find another way to treat my SIBO.

One study found some herbal OTC preparations are just as effective as Rifaxamin and a lot less expensive. So I did both, in succession. They were:

  • Candibactin-AR together with Candibactin-BR
  • Biotics Research FC-Cidal together with Biotics Research Dysbiocide

Then I had symptoms of fungal overgrowth, which is very common following SIBO treatment. I did several rounds of OTC treatments for that (monolaurin and undecylenic acid).

This process took me about 7 months, although I did take some breaks. I now only take a probiotic and a supplement that helps me digest proteins since I have trouble with casein (milk protein) and gluten (wheat protein). I am not cured or anything, but I am 10X better than I was last January. I don’t have chronic pain in my gut and other IBS-like symptoms.

Feel free to ask any questions, I’d be happy to help.

I'm only mentioning this because you're desperate, like I am/was, and I can feel that you're pretty open because of it. You probably do a lot of research like myself, so look into products from Ancestral Supplements. They have so much incredible info on their site, and the owner is a biologist or biochemist who is extremely helpful. Shoot him an email if you like. Look at the reviews for their liver, specifically look at "brain fog" and there are quite a few positive responses, especially from the chronically ill. Even if vitamin panels are "normal," we can still be deficient in basic nutrients, and at the very least, can feel better when we take the best sources of those nutrients. I personally don't love eating meat but their Spleen literally reversed my mystery anemia.

On the diet topic.. I've assumed you've tried multiple diets/ eliminating foods from your diet but have you? That can often make a huge difference.

I'm so sorry and I feel your pain bc my brain fog from POTS is awful too. Could you see some type of holistic practitioner? They can point you in the right direction towards certain herbs//supplements that can help. Possibiliies include CoQ10, PQQ, Choline, Omega 3, Ginkgko Biloba, Ashwagandha, and Rhodiola.

Consider the following an extremely half-assed DIY self-experiment -- complete with a lack of follow-up testing right now -- but I had some strange "low-normal" iron levels in my bloodwork late last year, including ferritin. I wasn't wild about the bio-availability debate with supplements, so I decided to take a "food forward" approach with it and deliberately up iron-rich foods (like cooking spinach-beef meatballs in tomato sauce in a cast iron pan, haha - or less extreme, making breakfast cookies with oats and a lot of blackstrap molasses).

I've been supplementing with beef liver pills the last 4-5 months and anecdotally, they seem slightly helpful. At some point I'll recheck bloodwork. I like this approach, though, because it provides a spectrum of nutrients and I don't have to feel bad about not eating liver more frequently now.

I really admire your humble and curious vibe. Thanks for your openness and honesty. I hope my information is useful to you.

I get most of my protein from Vega Protein & Greens. The rest comes from tofu and seitan.

I gain muscle by eating about 1.2g protein per pound of body weight per day and taking my carbs and fat on an as-needed basis.

For heart health, make sure you're getting monounsaturated fats (avocados are a good source). These fats should be your primary fat intake, as [replacing saturated fats with monounsaturated fat has been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease] (http://www.eatrightpro.org/~/media/eatrightpro%20files/practice/position%20and%20practice%20papers/position%20papers/dietary-fatty-acids-paper-.ashx).

There are 3 primary types you should be concerned with: ALA, EPA, and DHA. I get my ALA from flaxseeds; chia seeds are also a valuable source but I like the taste of flaxseeds better. For DHA and EPA, I use [these capsules] (https://www.amazon.com/Potent-Vegan-Supplement-Essential-Vitamin/dp/B00QCR00SW/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1486332828&sr=8-1&keywords=amala+vegan+omega+3); there are several competing products that perform the same function on Amazon. That's an interesting idea! Can you swallow the whole tablespoon at once, though? I think the point of the pill-sized frozen bits is that you can swallow them (er... like pills) without having to taste them much.

We have very similar genetics.

Never take cyanocobalamin, but especially with MTRR you need methylcobalamin. Similarly for the MTHFR you should never take anything that just says "folate" or "folic acid," only take methylfolate. The forms you're taking make those genetic issues worse.

Strongly recommend replacing all the B vitamins with dessicated liver: Perfect Desiccated Liver - Grass Fed Undefatted Argentine Beef Liver (120 capsules, 750mg per capsule, Net wt 90g) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J47LEMS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_j0uWzbG1BMAV6

It will provide the right forms of the vitamins in a natural ratio with some minerals and proteins that smooth everything out. I have yet to find anyone who didn't have a much better experience on it as compared to a B complex or isolated B vitamins.

I was "chilled to the bone" for the longest time, but I figured out that I was actually experiencing an iodine deficiency. Most the iodine you get in your diet is going to be from iodized table salt, but your body doesn't uptake sodium as easily on Keto. (conjecture: I think that without pairing the sodium with glucose, you're not absorbing sodium through your stomach, and are only getting sodium absorbed through your lower GI tract, please correct me if I'm mistaken). I started taking Kelp once a day, and within a week I was back to feeling relatively normal.

My vet now gives both of these products to all dogs and cats in kidney distress. He was so shocked at how much my baby improved and lived 6 more years. In fact the blood test before he passed showed his kidneys were functioning perfectly.

If it wasn't for contaminated pet food, that was eventually recalled, he might have lived a few more years.

Haven't used them yet, but I am stashing samples from my OB as well.

There is this traditional medicine that I've been using for depression. My parents won't let me have SSRIs since the doctor recommended against taking them if you are under 25.

So far, I think it is working. I take way more than the recommend dose (4x as much). But I think it does work. It makes the mood swings less wild. And it helps me sleep at night too.

It is called "ashwagandha." OTC.

That would be addressed through diet assuming you have food sensitivities such as gluten. If you cut gluten out then keep in mind that a blood test will not show the anti-gliadin antibodies, so i dont know if you rather wait for your next blood test before cutting out gluten to make sure that's what it is. Here is a study on the link between high ferritin/low iron and inflammation btw:

As far as the brand. I use zhou'sbut i've tried other brands and they're more or less the same.

Here is another list of supplements that are shown to reduce inflammation:

I feel your pain for sure! I saw you said your whole body was a problem area. I used to weigh 265lbs and I’m 5’9” I lost a lot of weight on keto. I recently switched to the carnivore diet and I started losing weight extremely fast and feel so awesome! I don’t know what you think about it, it’s a bit controversial. My bloodwork is perfect after about 6 months of doing it. If you did do it I suggest getting some beef organ capsules off amazon. I have to do that because I have a hard time eating organ meats. They are full of vitamins and minerals. They have one with heart, spleen, kidney, liver, and pancreas(Ancestral Supplements Grass Fed Beef Organs (Desiccated) - Liver, Heart, Kidney, Pancreas, Spleen ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XP7Z1KN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_1KEmDbDH6YKXJ ). Also check out r/zerocarb for some good info on carnivore diet. I’m not trying to tell you what to do. I’m just sharing that it worked wonders for me! Have a great day and I hope you are doing well! Let’s build up those calves together! Lol

I'm impressed your diet was so efficacious that's great. And avoiding gaba agonists is a very smart idea. You're doing everything right and I'm proud of you for having the strength to put up with these things and not go back to prescriptions or other things that feel better in the moment but cause damage in the long run.

I'm not sure if supplementing pharmagaba will downregulate natural gaba production or not I think it just makes it available to be used where naturally needed. The taurine and theanine are both just amino acids but again I'm not sure if it will desensitize your receptors or downregulate gaba production but they are safe and I believe don't have withdrawal symptoms or anything even used long term. Theanine is found in green tea and taurine from food in our diets BTW.

Phenibut works mostly on gaba b receptors where benzos are gaba a, it's the most effective non benzo I've ever used and is non sedating and can actually improve cognition rather than mess you up, but probably not right for you because it is an actual gaba agonist and will cause issues used long term but for a night of relief here and there it's my favorite.

But basically all these things interact with gaba and sounds like none of that is what you want, which is very smart let them get to normal without outside influence.

The adaptogen route may be a good place to look into for your situation. They basically balance everything out without actually being an agonist of any receptor, plenty of research an explanations from a quick Google search will help you figure out what they do. Cortisol is a stress hormone and both chronic pain and anxiety can throw it off which really messes you up in a lot of ways. My dad has chronic pain and anxiety as well and nothing ever helped and he never bothered with supplements until I talked to him and saw his sleep patterns and other symptoms matched with some cortisol disorders and adrenal fatigue. I got him the pharmagaba and he uses that for sleep and feels better mentally and physically when he uses it at night. I also got him:

Gaia Herbs Adrenal Health Daily Support Liquid Phyto-Caps, 120 Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F1J8EKI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_M83fhFGcFhabe

And after a week or so it leveled him out mentally and gave him energy physically and with only that and pharmagaba he's getting the best sleep in years actually making it through the night instead of waking up every night at 3am blasted with anxiety and can't get back to sleep for hours.. Anyways, after talking with him I was blown away by the improvement it made, far more than even I had expected so that or any similar product would be a good option in my opinion.

So that product or other adaptogens combined with the magtein form of magnesium and (optionally based on your feelings regarding gaba) pharmagaba would be my recommended stack.

Side note: I recently ordered some magnolia bark extract from lift mode, I haven't tried it yet but after some research on the mechanisms of action it seemed worth a shot, haven't tried it yet but I'm hoping it'll be calming and help with sleep and anxiety. I like lift mode brand specifically because it's very pure and you get the results of purity tests with orders but you need a scale to reliably dose. There are lots of other brands that have it in capsules but I feel less confident that those kinds of things have the right amount of the two main active compounds in magnolia bark. Since you're new to looking at supplements, purity and actually having the amount they advertise and having quality ingredients etc can be a challenge.

There are so many supplements with so many claims I ALWAYS reference the info from examine.com as well as trying to find reputable academic sources of information on each supplement. Labdoor.com is another fantastic site to reference when trying to decide which brand is best.

Also not sure if your opinions towards it or legality in your location but cannabis can be very helpful. Definitely focus on cbd though, some strains with high thc low cbd can take away anxiety for some but increase it for others. Pure cbd is awesome for both pain and anxiety though. It can get very expensive though I personally require very high doses of cbd orally but that's most effective whereas low thc high cbd strains that I smoke are much more cost effective but don't work as well as high dose pure cbd taken orally.

You're right let me rephrase. I think nutrition from certain GLANDS and ORGANS can help streamline the growth and health of another organism. Not required, but much more efficient than having to "grow" all of your own micro-nutrients from combining different plants together.

I take these:

Organs from grass-fed pasture-raised new Zealand cows. All else is plants + minerals.

hi,perhaps you might want to pay attention to your diet. These items will help to boost your energy levels:

  • Almonds, nuts and other seeds
  • Kale, Spinach and Leafy Greens
  • Fruits like bananas
  • Oatmeal and whole grains
  • Eggs and Salmon
  • Yogurt and fermented foods
  • Humus and Beans
  • Coffee, green teas
  • Dark chocolate

You can boost your diet on these items I mentioned and you will definitely see changes. If you still feel the fatigue I would suggest you try taking Vitality by Eu Natural. It contains Ashwagandha, Zinc, Holy Basil and other natural vitamins and mineral extracts. You can find it here https://www.amazon.com/Vitality-Adrenal-Support-Fatigue-Fighter/dp/B07CSDXBGD

One final piece of advise I can give you is to exercise regularly as much as you can. Even if that means light exercises or taking the stairs instead of the escalator, walking instead of taking transportation. In short staying active and do not forget stay hydrated! Drink water, natural fruit juices!

I hope I have been able to help

I had the same issue.

When I first started losing my hair, I jumped on it right away with fin. Hair stopped falling out within 2 weeks, no b.s. But i quit it after 4 months because the sides were devastating.

Fast forward about 8 years and I try fin again, thinking maybe EOD i can keep my hair and mitigate side effects. Did this for about a year, and while I had no sides, the hair kept falling out. Not quite at the same rate as no-fin, but I'm still losing ground. I moved up to 1 mg of fin.

Fast forward a year and a half, and my shedding is still the same. WTF, i'm wondering. It works perfectly (and instantly) the first time around, but now seems to only reduce my shedding by about 50% after 18 months of usage?

I've been researching the thyroid a lot the past year. Got into the Ray Peat forums. I'm not going to delve into that diet/lifestyle and its efficacy, but while my GP said my thyroid was in healthy range, Ray Peat's indicators of hypothroidism (low pulse rate and low body temp) were both present with me. My body temp was always 95-96 range and my pulse was in the 50s, which is only healthy if you're an Olympic swimmer.

Iron deficiency can also lead to hair loss. Now taking iron supplements is dangerous for men, so this is something to talk to your doctor about. But here's what i've been doing, and it's the first time in years i've been able to put my head under a faucet and have literally ZERO hairs fall out.

Lugol's 5% iodine solution. I do one dropper of this a day along with 2 brazil nuts. You need selenium (i do two brazil nuts) with iodine. This is thyroid fuel.

Dessicated liver tablets. This is my preferred brand because it's undefatted and most stuff on amazon is defatted: http://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Desiccated-Liver-Undefatted-Argentine/dp/B00J47LEMS, but it might not matter.

I also do 3-4 spoonfuls of Coconut oil a day. This is also thyroid fuel and some studies show it has DHT lowering properties.

I also massage my head every day. I don't do the 20 minutes morning/night some people advocate, that's just too much. I try to do 3-5 minute sessions throughout the day. I noticed when I started that my scalp was very tender, and now when I do it, i'm virtually pain-free.

I'm sorry I can't provide the exact scientific breakdown, but this is not a regimen of my own invention. It's an abridged version of a regimen i saw on another forum. I've been on fin for almost 3 years. EOD for the first year, every day for the last two. It was only in the past 3 months (since starting this regimen) i had an actual stop in shedding and my hair is actually starting to feel thicker.

Go ahead and say i'm a shill for the above products (lol), but this is a regimen for a very small niche of fin users.

We took it for about 30 days and had no noticeable effect. It may have been the brand wasn't on par with others?

Look into Ancestral Supplements Grass Fed Beef Liver. You're basically getting all the benefits of eating liver without actually eating liver. You may still have to cut out coffee, but I've seen a major difference. I don't generally succumb to the placebo effect. The reviews sucked me in (I've never been a vitamin\supplement taker) and I have to agree with them. It's been about two months.

I take the Bone Marrow as well and good god, I have more range of motion and less joint pain that at any time in life. I tend to be really seized up. Even chiropractors can't or have an extremely difficult time popping my joints. A week of this and I was popping all over, including my lower back where I have the most problems. The popping settled down and now I just have what feels like incredible range of motion for me.

If you do try them I would love to know if your iron levels actually go up, assuming you get it tested on a semi-regular basis.

u/thebilbobobbins · 1 pointr/StackAdvice

I generally just take the most potent Ashwagandha I can find. You need to be careful though, because it can cause thyroid problems, which can lead to arrhythmias.

Here's an example of a supposedly "most potent" brand I use https://www.amazon.com/Organic-Ashwagandha-Superior-Absorption-Supplement/dp/B077TVZH1K/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=most+potent+ashwagandha&qid=1557058169&s=gateway&sr=8-3

But, because supplements aren't regulated, it's difficult to tell when one brand is truly stronger than another. For example I use to use these https://www.amazon.com/HERBAL-Premium-Organic-Ashwagandha-BioPerine/dp/B07HYHDMW8/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=ashwagandha+ksm+66&qid=1557058235&s=gateway&sr=8-9 and I could swear they increased my libido more than the other brand, even though they're supposedly "weaker".

For the first brand I take 1 a day, for the 2nd brand I took 2 a day.

u/ecksbe2 · 1 pointr/Stutter

Most people don't know I stutter, 15 years ago - everyone knew. I've gotten more confident and fluent over the years, but this past year my anxiety has gotten bad - and unsurprisingly, it let to more speech blocks. I asked a friend for help, and although it's not for everyone, I found this herbal supplement helps me a lot: https://www.amazon.com/Himalaya-Herbal-Healthcare-StressCare-Anti-Stress/dp/B000H87TMC Note: I am extremely sensitive to medications. Always seek advice from your doctor. But this has been working wonders on me! No more muscle tension and I'm sleeping better which reduces stress and increases my fluency (if that's your goal!).

There are two that have helped me. I hear that others are down on this stuff, but it’s helped me ease into eating organ meats and I’ve absolutely noticed improvements that nothing else could give me. Feel free to DM for more info.

1 - Ancestral Supplements. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XP7Z1KN/. They have a variety of offerings (more on their website) and the owners are really active in answering questions, and their answers built my confidence.

2 - Mountain Sticks organ meat sticks. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CQGRMDI/. They make two flavors. One is even AIP approved. Both are Paleo certified. They’re not the most amazing tasting, but they’re ok and I can tolerate them. I have been sort of started to like the cranberry ones.

I’d like to hear if you learn anything further.

I was taking these as I built up my ability to stomach eating actual organ meats, and I think I’m about ready to do so.

This one? https://www.amazon.com/Ancestral-Supplements-Grass-Liver-Desiccated/dp/B01MSBZYQW I guess you take 6 pills a day.

They also have organs version. Any thoughts on that?

That’s all good !!

This product (see below) got some great reviews. I think you should invest the money in something more potent and with more than one active anti inflammatory ingredients.
