Hamilton Beach

Most food processors are under $50, let alone $300. Mine's a Hamilton Beach model and was $37.00 on Amazon.

No problem! Check out estate sales for a good deal if you don't want to pay full price. I have had a large processor for a long time and I don't remember the original cost, but I have been searching for a small one for awhile and finally just bought one new at Costco and it was $25. Honestly, i can't see myself ever not having at least 1. I love my big one, but when I make pesto for myself it's just too big. But a smaller one, you will find a lot of uses for. And you can always just use a small one and make multiple batches at once.

https://smile.amazon.com/BLACK-DECKER-1-5-Cup-Electric-HC306C/dp/B000I0DV6W/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1506795738&sr=1-1&keywords=small+food+processor

This is probably fine for what you would need. And then later on down the line if you find you love it, you could save up for a bigger one. I'm guessing if it has 1 button you probably have to stand there and hold the button down to use it (mine have 2 buttons, one to turn on and one to turn off/pulse, but they work so fast that sometimes I do have to stand there so certain things don't overly process).

u/Esqu1re2b · 6 pointsr/fitmeals

This thing is a beast, I love it. The only downsides are the slightly smaller bowl and it’s heavy as hell but built like a tank. There’s a reason this design has been around forever.

u/her_nibs · 5 pointsr/Cooking

Shouldn't be hard to find good-quality used in good condition -- it's the sort of thing people get as a gift, or get excited about and think they'll use all the time, and then end up not using.

If you can find it going cheap on eBay or some such, the Braun Multiquick is terrific. I buy and sell better kitchen appliances, among other things, as a small side hustle and have tested a ridiculous variety of small appliances and this is the one that gets to live on my counter. It does everything it's supposed to beautifully, comes with a lot of blades, and, importantly, the bowl is freaking enormous (still mixes up small quantities with no problems) and the speed is adjustable, which is a "How did I exist without this?" sort of feature once you get it. Loads more control over the end result!

But Cuisinart is trading a lot on their name nowadays; they are not what they used to be. Considering how many times you could re-purchase the Hamilton Beach if it broke before you'd regret not buying the Cuisinart, and its good reviews, I'd get the cheaper one unless I was a near-daily user. (Or I'd be out scouring the thrift stores for a 1980s Cuisinart.)

Best weather of the year, in a tie for late autumn. I have to admit that as I enjoy it, I also feel a sense of dread at what comes after.

Someone mentioned a mini blender yesterday. This just came through my inbox--4600 yen inclusive of shipping, ordered from Amazon US. Link to Amazon site.

u/TheRealBeerBrah · 5 pointsr/nfl

I'd recommend spending the money on the good Cuisinart.

It's also great for shredding cheese.

they look kinda like this. the chute ad the top is where you feed the food in, inside the translucent part is whatever kind of blade you choose. some will slice, some shred, and one is just two large blades that tear up everything inside very fast. if you are preparing a large amount of food these can be invaluable.

u/FUS_ROALD_DAHL · 4 pointsr/keto

You should be able to grind up turkey meat at home using a small food processor. I have a very cheap 1 1/2-cup model that I got at Walgreens for like $10. Amazon

u/thenuggetscale · 4 pointsr/EatCheapAndHealthy

You’re welcome! Very easy to change it up depending on what you have too...

Change the peas to another vegetable

Add curry paste or other spices when frying the onions

Add coconut milk instead of stock

Add canned tomatoes instead of stock

Add in a handful of lentils with the veg and boil a bit longer

Also: I saw you hate chopping onions. I bought something similar to this (sorry if linking not allowed) and although it takes more effort washing up, I find it is worth it for hassle free chopping. Much cheaper long term than buying pre-chopped onions all the time which are way more expensive than regular onions here in the UK.

This is the black decker food chooper. I have been very happy with this. I use this everyday. It is only $13.99 on Amazon as well. The only complaint it that it is only 1.5 cups.

u/plaidsuitpants · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

You guys are amazing! This sub never ceases to amaze me.

Since I'm super lazy and I stupidly decided to make ALL of the food for my son's birthday party, this beautiful piece of machinery would make my life so much easier. Plus, I've been wanting one for years now...they're so pretty. You know you want to. C'mon...gimme ;) lol

Or if Reddit Raffle decided to have mercy on my poor little soul, these little doodads would be so nifty.

u/Bewarethewulf · 3 pointsr/RandomKindness

I have a teeny-tiny food processor like this one that I'd be happy to send you. However, it makes a horrible, high-pitched squealing sound. Soooooo, if you don't get any other responses, and just REALLY want it (or have bad hearing, maybe?) let me know, and it's yours.

u/forshiggles · 3 pointsr/CFBOffTopic

Okay, there's this one or this one. The first one has all the attachments you need. I cannot speak to the quality of the second one, but it has good reviews and attachments (but no dough hook).

u/interludes · 3 pointsr/MealPrepSunday

Sure thing! This is the one I have and it's great.

u/Mister_Sporks_Hands · 3 pointsr/Cooking

I cannot recommend the Breville Sous Chef (16-cup) (Amazon Canada link) highly enough. It's is the best processor I've ever tested and I've tested plenty included the old standby Cuisinarts and the less than impressive KitchenAids. Worth the price when you consider it has ALL the extra blades included. Beyond the cheese grating question, it has the best design feature ever found on a processor... no blade spindle hole. The whole bowl is sealed. Zero leaks. No blade juggling so half your salsa doesn't leak through. Brilliant. It's the sort of processor that you WANT to keep on the counter all the time. Really changed my cooking processes for the better. Word of caution though, the popularity of the bigger model spawned a smaller (lower power) model and I don't know that it's as good as its bigger brother. Might be but I've never used it myself.

u/databank01 · 3 pointsr/Cooking

I have recently bought a food processor after much research, old Cuisinarts were very reliable but the newer models had some issues. After digging through an unimaginable amount of reviews and such I found what suited me. A Braun K650 CombiMax

Cuisinart Mini-prep. It's lasted me over 6 years and is still going strong.

u/toramimi · 3 pointsr/PlantBasedDiet

Every night I have a base of either quinoa or rice, prepared in my rice cooker with various vegetables and spices. If rice, I'll roll it up with nori for homemade veggie rolls.

With dinner I have a 12 ounce glass of water with two tablespoons of flax and one tablespoon of chia.

I buy my pinto beans and black beans loose in bulk at the local grocery store when picking up my vegetables, usually around 5 or 6 pounds of each at a time.

Cumin, garlic powder, tahini, and dry garbanzo beans go for a good homemade hummus in a food processor. Needs a fresh lemon or two squeezed into the tahini. Original recipe had olive oil and salt, I leave out the oil entirely and either cut the salt down to a dash or none at all.

I keep oats and almond meal on hand to make pdb cookies with the same food processor, just add a banana or two, cinnamon, nutmeg, almond butter, and raisins if you like. The original recipe called for dates and I said eat me I'm doing raisins.

I got peppermint in bulk to make tea with, both by itself as well as mixing with chamomile, mugwort, etc.

I keep almost all of the above in these convenient cereal containers to both extend shelf life, shelf space, and remove any branding or advertising. Mason jars are also awesome!

Don't forget you can dehydrate your own food as well!

Edit: I don't work for Amazon, I just live no-car and order like this to survive!

I can appreciate the desire for top of the line appliances for the kitchen, but I got myself this one and it's been tip top.

u/TankSpank · 2 pointsr/whole30

I have been using this one for the last 3 years and it's taken some abuse (2x weekly use, falling out of the back of my car) and still going strong. I'm generally pretty happy with Hamilton Beach appliances for the price.

besides what I listed?

Tongs(several pair), pancake turners nylon and or silicone, a whisk or two, preferably silicone coated so you can use them in your pans. A mini prep (mini chopper) and maybe a stick blender or counter blender, good skillets (I like to keep a small ceramic skillet (not the expensive ones,a bout $25. and a larger nonstick) the small skillet I like for making my eggs in the morning, cooking a piece of sausage or two etc. the large is for everything else and by large I mean about a 10 3/4" pan. a couple of saucepans, Dutch oven, and a crockpot. this will give you several different ways to cook things, such as braising, slow cooking stir frying an sautéing. also I would invest in a good microwave steamer. that can be used to steam veggies, and cook rice.

mini prep: (I have this one) https://www.amazon.com/Conair-Cuisinart-DLC-2ABC-Processor-Brushed/dp/B0000645YM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469469352&sr=8-1&keywords=mini+prep

shoot almost forgot you will need a casserole such as a 9X13 (highly called for size) and an 8X8 somewhere around that size too. and baking sheets. If you have a same club or costco near you that you can get to they are Cheap there these are Heavy duty and will last you for years!

they have a pack of two of these at Costco/Sam's for about 18 or 20 bucks.

I also like this size for smaller jobs I have two of these also. Bought at separate times because I could't find a deal on these and they cost me a bit.

u/Tendaena · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I need this food processor I've been cooking more fresh foods for my family and this would make my life a lot better and I'd have more time to spend with my family instead of being stuck in the kitchen so much.
Thanks so much for the constest.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

This food chopper looks great. I think everyone could use one, it'll help you eat healthier!

Thanks for the contest!

u/acciocorinne · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Well, what I've found from this exercise is none of my wishlist items make a funny combination. The closest I could get was a food processor and cat treats. You know, cause I could use the food processor to blend the cat treats...yeah, okay, it's a dumb combo, but it's the funniest I could come up with haha. I challenge anyone else to do better with my wishlist :P

The strangest single item I need on my wishlist is this little guy. Somehow I lost my cheese grater, and this is a WAY COOLER one than I had!

Thanks for the contest!! To infinity and beyond!

u/thelazymessiah · 2 pointsr/AskReddit

I eat brown rice and vegetables pretty much Monday through Saturday... Then on Sunday I will cook a nice steak or bbq chicken.

It's a great way to save money and eat better. I cheat all the time but I've become a much better cook and I really look forward to cooking something delicious on Sunday. Trust me if you plan on changing your diet you're going to have to learn to cook if you haven't already. It's really not hard, and once you start to really learn what you like you really do eat quite well for cheap.

Maybe this will help:

  1. Rice Cooker

  2. Spices to play with until you find out what you like

  3. mother fucking rice blends

  4. food processor

  5. decent starter kitchen set

u/the_jowo · 2 pointsr/Cooking

If all you want one for is to make aioli's and vin's you might want to consider just buying a blender. Otherwise [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-DLC-4CHB-Mini-Prep-Processor-Stainless/dp/B000YA8R6U/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1324368473&sr=1-2) is a good basic food processor.

u/caithnard · 2 pointsr/AskCulinary

I have this guy in my college apartment and I find it moderately useful. It mostly gets used when I'm baking pastries, I rarely use it for day-to-day cooking. I do think it's worth it, though, since I really don't want to do something like grinding up almonds by hand. (I did get mine as a hand-me-down gift, though, so money wasn't an issue)

Try to get in the habit of preparing food, instead of grabbing fast food while you're out. It will be tempting to just buy food while you're out, but it will kill your budget, and it's harder to make healthy choices when you're in a hurry. So try to pick out some easy meals to make ahead and store in the fridge, or things that can be thrown together and taken in a box or bag for lunch on the go. Establish food prep as part of your routine, so you don't feel like you have to find extra time to do it.

I'm sure you're on a budget as far as kitchen tools go. But if you can save up, or finagle a family member to buy you some supplies, it will help you tremendously to have some equipment. If nothing else, put them on your Christmas list and make do until then...

Food Processor - This little guy doesn't have a million and one functions, but it will pulverize rolled oats so you can have easy smoothies, and easy oat flour for muffins. You can also use it to make salsa, guacamole, hummus, bean dip. Shred veggies to make shredded salads. Mix dough for scones and biscuits. Heck, you can even make your own nut butters.

Hand Blender - Make smoothies the easy way. Blend soup bases. Puree fruits to make popsicles.

Slow Cooker - Roast veggies & meats. Make soups & chili. Bake things. Cook beans overnight. Slow cookers are awesome. You can chuck your stuff in there in the morning, and when you're done with class, you have food!

u/lad1701 · 2 pointsr/keto

Aw man thanks so much for your support!!

Check out my list of kitchen essentials if you're looking to get started - though I will say, it sounds like you want the food processor ;) it's an incredibly valuable tool that can help with a number of different kitchen minutiae! And I'm a big proponent of impulse kitchen buys so I say go for it! Best one on the market is the Cuisinart 14-cup Custom!

u/abacaxi012 · 2 pointsr/weddingplanning

It's embarrassing how many times I've started shredding my fingers when grating cheese. I have one of those mandoline slicers, but shredding with it is kinda scary. We registered for this 14 cup beauty!

For shredding vegetables I use my food processor. It has blades for shredding things and slicing things.

Mostly I only really use the shredder for cabbage, carrots, and potatoes. Slicer mostly just gets used for potatoes and cucumbers.

Most other tasks I find to just be easier and faster using the knife, but that comes down to knife skills.

I have made banana ice cream with an immersion blender plenty of times! You can make pesto in it but I prefer a mortar and pestle, You can make pico in it, but I generally think pico gets ruined if you use any sort of blending/processing. If you want easy clean up, I'd get an immersion blender- it's great for soups and blending directly on the stove top! Theres a cup you can use to make the banana ice cream. If you want to do bigger batches, I'd get a cheap processor - great for making things like hummus, grating cheese and veggies, dough, etc.

This is the $45 processor I have and I like it.

This is the $30 immersion blender I have and also like.

This is the exact food processor and recipe my wife and I use. We must use the food processor at least every 2 days if not more - it's amazing. I think the real key to mayo making is to make sure the oil is as cold as possible and to pour it in as slowly as possible. It was tough to find a compliant Dijon but I think we got ours at Target. Obviously you can replace the Canola with Olive Oil in the above recipe.

u/ThePrince_OfWhales · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

This little Ninja is one of the most convenient, helpful tools in our kitchen. My wife and I got it as a wedding gift a couple years ago and we use it nearly every day. It's AMAZING for chopping veggies for recipes. Got an onion? Chop it in half, drop it in the Ninja and POW you've got chopped onion in 2 seconds. I use it almost every morning to make smoothies for breakfast, perfect serving size for one.

So yeah, I recommend!

Cuisinart. I love mine. It does everything I need it to do and is super durable. I used a cut rate Oster for a while, but the Cuisinart is so much better, it is worth the extra money. Also, the Oster broke after a year.

u/trappedinsuburbia · 2 pointsr/vegan

My parents got me this one as a gift about 10 months ago, and it has actually held up really well despite the low price tag! And I feel like I've really put it through its paces by blending up nuts and the like. If a cuisinart or other fancy food processor is out of your budget for now, I would highly recommend this one.

u/dizzyvonblue · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I think a Food processer is very important! You can use veggies in crazy ways if you can break them down. Even nuts can be used as a cookie base. It's a little more work but making homemade sauces can be so much healthy, especially if you can sneak in extra veggies!

Lets all sing Portion Control amen. And don't forget measuring cups and spoons, to control condiments, you could also just use the cups instead of the fancy portion measurer

I also recommend getting one of these under desk peddlers promise yourself you'll use it when watching T.V or doing reddit.

Pedometer a nifty affordable way to keep track of how much you are actually walking. I'm going to buy one just to make myself walk more!

Tape measure this is going to be surprisingly important. I've been trying to get back into shape since last September and I've only lost 15 pounds. I didn't keep track of my measurements, and I wish I had. My pants are almost falling off, but the proof of the numbers would be more of a morale booster. Easier to pass on the second helping of Chinease food if you KNOW you're making progress!

I wish you great luck! I think eating healthy is most important, but it feels so good, to just work the heck out,and be covered in sweat, and know you whooped that workouts ass! And another idea is to watch your department stores, I got my $200 stationary bike for $40 bucks, because it was a floor model, and was missing a little cover on one of the edges that touch the floor.

u/VeggieChick_ · 2 pointsr/veganrecipes

Recipe (and additional notes) found at https://veggiechick.com/mashed-cauliflower/. =)

Mashed Cauliflower

  • 1 medium head white cauliflower, (discard core and leaves and break into florets)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted vegetable broth (or can use 1 tablespoon olive oil)
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 leek, trimmed and chopped fine
  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon vegan butter, optional
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  1. To begin, fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, add the cauliflower and boil for 10-15 minutes or until soft. Drain and leave the cooked cauliflower sitting in a colander in the sink to let any steam escape (note: this helps the puree to be smoother and not mushy).
  2. Meanwhile, in a medium skillet, heat the unsalted vegetable broth (or olive oil if desired) over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and finely chopped leeks, and cook for about 3-4 minutes or until the leeks are tender, stirring occasionally. Add to a food processor.
  3. Then to the food processor, add the nutritional yeast, vegan butter, almond milk, chives, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Once the cauliflower has let out all the steam, add to the food processor. Starting on low power, start blending and increase speed until creamy. You may need to stop the processor and stir in case some of the florets get stuck at the top. This recipe makes about 4 cups mashed cauliflower, or roughly 1 cup per serving. Taste and add salt, pepper, or additional nutritional yeast as desired. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.

Can't say that I've ever used my food processor for bread, but I really like the model I got for general cooking purposes:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KHLN7K2/

I like it because it's easy to clean, has the right features but doesn't try to do too much, and is easy to lock in place compared to some other models.

u/sxzxnnx · 2 pointsr/Austin

Baked sweet potato mashed with some butter and sprinkled with a little brown sugar and cinnamon. Some steakhouses have it on the menu but you could just make one at home. Wash the potato then put it on a baking sheet in the oven at 350F for 30-45 minutes. Then peel and mash. You can also jab it with a fork a few times and stick it in the microwave for about 5 minutes. I think the oven baked ones have a better flavor.

If he doesn't protest that he is being treated like a baby, I would try to get him to eat a pureed version of his regular favorites. Get a small food processor like this one. Also try the hospital food yourself. It is often way under-seasoned. If you or other family members know how he likes his food, you might be able to spice it up enough to make him eat it.

I actually have 2 food processers. My first is a 7 cup one similar to [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-FP1600B-8-Cup-Processor/dp/B0038KPRG6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1344264139&sr=8-4&keywords=7+cup+food+processor). The second one is only 1.5 cups. It's very small and honestly not very good with any amount more than a cup. I think its [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-HC306-One-Touch-Electric/dp/B000I0DV6W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344264230&sr=8-1&keywords=1+cup+food+processor). I also would like to get a spice grinder [like this] (http://www.amazon.com/203-42-Electric-Coffee-Grinder-Stainless/dp/B00004SPEU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344264296&sr=8-1&keywords=spice+grinder), for when I need to grind spices, nuts, or make some breading-I am partial to coating chicken strips in a cracker similar to cheese itz, but the small food processor doesn't get it fine enough.

That being said, you mind be able to get a blender. I use my blender when making things that are more like smoothies. I am unable to handle curry and not very partial to hummus so I cannot say if that would work.

And this is my blender. vitamix 5200

The blender was an unasked for wedding gift that I had no idea how much I’d rely on. I use it a few times per week at the very least, and it still works perfectly.

There are so many new models out for both- I would check reviews to make sure what you end up finding is still well-made.

u/painesgrey · 2 pointsr/parrots

I use this little guy. It doesn't prep a ton of food, but is perfect for making up a few cups' worth of chop, which typically lasts me a month or two.

I still find that it wants to liquefy watery foods like bell peppers, so I typically either chop them by hand, or only give them a pulse or two in the processor.

Another trick that I use that most chop recipes don't mention: steel cut oats. They help absorb the excess moisture, so the blend is not as mushy.

I thought my wife was nuts when she got the one America's Test Kitchen suggested, but it's worth it. It's quiet and just works.

Depending on how much garlic you use, and how small you want to make it, you can also consider a mini food processor. It's great for everything from a rough chop to a mince, but you won't get truly perfect paste. Not that many recipes need that to begin with.

I use something like this in the kitchen I work at. Works beautifully. I know they look like a novelty, but they can be very effective for small batches. I usually make a cup or two at a time, then keep the minced garlic in the fridge for use in the next couple of days.

I've been making these black bean burgers a lot:

They actually taste better than store bought and they're really easy to make! And when you have extras you can freeze them for a quick meal anytime. Good luck! :)

I'm lazy and just buy frozen pre-cut veggies. shrug. She prefers her veggies soft anyways so it's just easier. I just cook them according to whatever directions are on the bag and mix with some cooked grains and beans and mix it all up and freeze in an ice cube tray. For some of the veggies, like frozen kale or spinach, I do my best to squeeze all the excess water out before mixing in. I'll also add some canned pumpkin or other pureed squash to help it all stick together.

If you prefer fresh veggies this is what I use as a food processor for myself.

Edit: Here is a picture of a batch I made earlier this year. This lasts about a month or so once frozen into cubes. Birdie Chop

It's on the small side (3 cups). If you do large batches of food, you may want a larger one (5 to 8 cup). Cuisinart and Black & Decker appliances have worked well for me, so anything from them is probably good.

u/Quellious · 2 pointsr/YouShouldKnow

I'd probably return it and invest the $200 into a food processor. I have this big bad boy. https://www.amazon.com/Breville-BFP800XL-Processor-Stainless-Steel/dp/B005I6ZKCE

If you can get that at Bed Bath and Beyond, they should let you use the 20% off coupon even though it says Breville is excluded.

KitchenAid and Cuisinart also make decent food processors.

For soup, an immersion blender is probably a better tool (I'd also recommend Breville, although I have KitchenAid). At least with Vitamix, the sound of the motor for 5 mins, or however long it needs can be intense.

u/Mr_Smithy · 1 pointr/Cooking

So you actually just nailed the exact debate I've been having with myself for the last month. The stand alone system seemed like the way to go. The issue I ran into is I have THIS Cuisinart Food Processor which is an absolute beast, but for some damn reason they don't make a dicing kit to go with their best selling, most powerful model. So I have to decide, sell this one on ebay and downgrade to the less powerful 13 cup model that has a dicing kit, or keep the better food processor, and get the kitchenaid attachment that probably won't work as well. 😫

I have a mini chopper like the one you linked. You definitely won't get the results they show in the pics--e.g., mine shows instant salsa with perfectly-cut chunks of tomato, onions, peppers, etc.

It only works on firm veggies, and doesn't provide an even chop until everything is very finely diced. It's basically good at blending something to smithereens, and anything soft like tomatoes or avocados just turns into a sloppy mush. It's great for onions, garlic, cilantro, etc--anything you want very finely diced. I also like using it for salad dressing, because it basically acts like a mini blender. But you're not going to get perfectly-chopped big chunks like they advertise.

I've recently gotten into cooking. I've been trying to eat better and not eat so much fast food. I never really liked cooking. The extent of my cooking was making pasta. Recently though, within the last month, I've tried several different recipes. I've actually found out that I love cooking and I'm pretty good at it too! There are some recipes that have failed, but I've learned to eat better and enjoy making healthy food. Although I love cooking, I don't have a food processor which I've found may be helpful while cooking. I've always wanted one, but for whatever reason, I've never gotten one.

Thanks for hosting!

Food processor! Hide that shit in everything! This is what I have to do with my SO, who claims to 'hate' all kinds of delicious foods. Like mushrooms for instance, but she sure loved those mushroom raviolis I made. Ate the whole plate before I told her it was mushrooms, ricotta, parmesan and garlic. I found a cheap one that's small and easy to store. It's handheld and comes with 2 bowls with lids, so you can store unused portions in the fridge. Mine is similar to this one:

u/PurpleViolettron · 1 pointr/Cooking

Do you have a blender already? Or are you opposed to buying a food processor/blender type of thing? Because my personal love of a food processor is actually this set from Ninja. If you want something a bit more, this is the next step up. And if you just want the food processor part try this.

u/JohnoTheFoolish · 1 pointr/EatCheapAndHealthy

For this kind of job, a little guy like this does a fine job. It's a bit tricky if you want anything other than 'puree' but it's great for things like hummus or guacamole.

u/caffeinated-mom · 1 pointr/Cooking

I agree with everyone here that good knives / cutting boards are essential and truly all you NEED.

However...

Sometimes it's nice to be able to chop up a TON of onions in a jiffy if you're batch cooking.. or to be able to quickly and evenly slice thin potatoes for chips.. the list goes on and on. So on that vein I have two recommendations for you:

Cuisinart 14 Cup Food Processor - I've had a similar model for about 15 years and it is virtually indestructible. I use it when I do once a month cooking, big batch cooking, pie doughs, and for sauces or chili when I don't want my kids to realize they're eating a bunch of veggies. :-) I've also heard they make the best whipped cream, but I've never actually tried that (I love my Kitchenaid too much). Definitely comes in handy if you have a whole bag of onions to chop and time is precious.

Mandolin Slicer - I don't have this particular brand, but the reviews are really good. I typically pull mine out when I need to slice a bunch of things and they all need to be precisely the same width (like if I'm making chips, for example). It's far from a necessity, but it is nice to have when it's needed.

I have wasted countless dollars on gadgets like food choppers and garlic presses and all they end up doing is taking up space. These two items, though, have stood the test of time. I turn to pretty frequently and think any cook would be happy to have them.

u/Apocalypstix · 1 pointr/ketorecipes

The thing I have used the most on keto/cooking at all is this!
I'd also recommend a food scale.

u/MooMooMai · 1 pointr/vegan

Could you tell me the capacity on it? Only ones I'm seeing are the one that I listed and then this one.

u/OlafIsMyBrother · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

You need a food chopper on your list. For real. I use mine daily. There are some that are more expensive and some that are cheaper. Don't go for the cheapest ones. You will be replacing it every few months until you realize you've already spend what you could on a decent one. You don't need to spend hundreds on one either, unless you're getting a full size one. This Chopper is perfect and I am needing a new one because my husband lost the blade that went to the one we had. It chops up everything!

u/ferengiprophet · 1 pointr/Cooking

>I take it the processor doesn't have any sort of tamper?

This is my food processor and it does have a tamper

>Do you have a pic of the size of the processor relative to the amount of material being processed?

I don't have a pic but the 3 cups of almonds filled the bowl about 3/4ths of the way through

>Pulsing for a while once it turns to a powder until it clumps up might help as well

I'll give this a try

u/Sonicjosh · 1 pointr/Cooking

I have a small Ninja chopper which I thought I would use more, but it's become just a smoothie machine for me. As a smoothie machine it's nice, but with the size of it there's a whole bunch I can't that I could do with a normal size food processor, anything involving dough or making more than a very small batch of something like hummus. I've done peanuts in mine before, along with ice and frozen fruit.

Unless it's the things I mentioned, I just use my knife, it's just easier to clean up and I hate doing dishes. Decide what you need for yourself.

This is the one I have, although if you can afford just a little more space than that, this is probably better. It'd be a tough sell to get me to buy the second one today as the food processor I've been looking at is $40 and I already have a blender, it's a weird product that's kind of a blender and kind of a food processor.

u/nycsep · 1 pointr/AskCulinary

3.Scarf -->Fall is coming and then Winter, this is SUCH a good acessory to make you warmer and look better, you can wear it around your neck or as a headband It's a cream color so It's super easy to wear with anything; you could even wear your flats ;)

4.Food Chopper -->Think of how easy it would be to make some salsa or guacamole with this! (Now my mouth's watering)

5.Tie Hanger--> You can so use it to hang headbands and belts and scarfs, not just ties! Mess be gone!

6.Shot Glasses--> These ensure a fun night, and who doesn't need shot glasses? There's never enough!

7.Too Faced Matte Collection--> I know for myself I always think, oh I don't want to pay that much for makeup but you know what? It's worth it. Too Faced is such a good brand and the combinations are endless, they're very well pigmented and work so good.

Total: $99.44

I have an extra tip for you! Don't buy elf products from here, they're 50% more expensive and if you buy them on their webpage and spend 25 or more, you get free shipping and they ALWAYS have special offers.

Go Ben!

If you're not going to be making stuff like pastry dough, you won't need a really big one. I have this guy, super cheap and great quality for what my needs. For $15, it's awesome.

OOPS! I read it wrong.... <.<

Because of course my cat needs to live better than me!

The Cuisinart hasn't been nice in decades and is now made my Lifetime brands.

Check out this unit from Braun.

Well, as you probably figured from the fact the instructions were still on the counter, the B&D is brand new. I was a little concerned at first since it was so inexpensive relative to others of a similar capacity ($35 vs $100), but after digging through the reviews it seemed solid, and after using it once I can say it works well. The only thing I cannot attest to is it's longevity, however after seeing it through it's first rodeo I can say confidently that I'll definitely get my money's worth.

The kitchenaid Cuisinart version was $25 at Costco recently. Works well for my purposes.

Edit: Whoops, sorry it was the Cuisinart. Same as this one: Cuisinart DLC-2A Mini Prep Plus 3-Cup 250-Watt Food Processor

We bought a Braun Combimax after reading online. It is strong, quiet, and well outfitted with accessories. My favorite thing is that the box has a label printed on the top flaps that show how to repack the unit and all of the parts.

However, they aren't common. You may opt for a KitchenAid or a Cuisinart simply for their ubiquity. If you need an accessory, pop over to the local store and get one.

Another consideration is use. Will you use it a lot? If so, how much space does it take up? If not, where will you store it for easy access? Does it have a juicer? Does it have a blender? Most of them will chop, whip, dice, shred, etc.

A bog standard Cuisinart 8 cup food processor. I was allowed to pick it out so I had to decide between sizes. My view on it was bigger is better but lets not get crazy. I was right. I can comfortably grate four potatoes in one. You can go even larger but the price gets crazy and at some point doing it in batches wins against the hit to your wallet.

I checked a lot of threads on /r/cooking when picking it out and it was the overwhelming recommendation. I can see why. The only criticism I have of it at all is that in the case of shredding/grating, it results in very long one inch/2.5cm pieces. If we're talking cheese that's not a big deal but if its a potato then I have to remove it and give it a rough chop to get it down to a better size. But hell, I made a carrot cake with it last weekend and I'd rather use the food processor to do 80% of the work and a kitchen knife once over to finish than spend way longer doing it by hand.

I have a second criticism now that I think about it. Washing. You have to make a call when you use it. Is the time saved going to be less than the extra time washing the bowl, blades, and feed tube thingy? They're easy to wash but its still a thing you have to deal with that takes longer than the 10 seconds to wash your chef knife you'll use for everything else.

Bottom line - if I was given the choice to get one again I'd totally do it. It's very useful even though it's not perfect. I don't pull it out for everything but the things I do use it for I would hate not having it.

I bought a Hamilton Beach food processor (this one, in particular https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00755KNCS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and I've found it incredibly easy to use/clean and very effective. I made a huge batch of carrot hummus in it right off, and have used it to chop veggies, this thing is inexpensive and will chop things very quickly. Or pulverize them, if that's what you want :)

You know, I just got this super cheap but small processor. Small is important because you may decide you don't need to make 3 weeks worth of food in one batch. Dishwasher safe is big and an easy to remove blade.

I've been using this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00006IUX0/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?qid=1396216715&sr=1-8&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70 to make popsicles and breakfast mish mash for ny toddler. Goes through frozen fruit and raw baby carrots easy too.
