Oh man. Brace yourselves, I am a total Amazon junkie. (Note: These may not all be BIFL, but I'm responding to the OP in specific.)
And, saving the best for last:

EDIT: As requested by /u/Mogrix, I posted List Part II: Electric Boogaloo, with more items from my Amazon history.

rack is super modular and customizable and light, super would recommend for space and budget peeps who spent all their money on shoes instead
Here's a similar one for $30
Put all your gpu’s on here https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00336TY0K/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1519650163&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=shoe+rack&dpPl=1&dpID=415PANUlISL&ref=plSrch
It’s very economical and you don’t have to pay overpriced miner prices!
Target or Amazon
I like this shelf for storing most of my shoes, i clipped off the hanging door part and just screwed it into a wall:
https://smile.amazon.com/Whitmor-Over-Rack-36-36-Pair-White/dp/B0019FOUQ0/ref=sr_1_10?crid=3IQ48DCP4SSQJ&keywords=hanging+shoe+organizer&qid=1556836083&s=gateway&sprefix=hanging+shoe+%2Caps%2C180&sr=8-10
However my three fanciest pairs of shoes do live in their shoebox full time. I like to keep them in boxes to keep them clean, and I always know where they are. Everything else goes on the rack.
It sounds to me like you want some sort of cubby so you can roll the dresses and have each in its own spot so you can take one out without the others toppling over.
A few ideas:
Looks like this one, I have 3 of 'em stacked up

I have the same rack
I think this is it.
OP you've got this!
You can totally just do a mini-crib and they are suuuper cute, affordable, and you can usually use them as long as a standard sized crib.
Here's some cute ideas I saw that you might like.
I live in a 3 bedroom apartment with my in-laws and my sister-in-law so I feel you so much. My husband and I just have our little bedroom and bathroom that is "ours".
I've utilized lots of little space-saving tools and ideas:
Here

Even cheaper option: https://www.amazon.com/Whitmor-Tier-Pair-Floor-White/dp/B005KC6DY0/ref=sr_1_8?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1519652215&sr=1-8&keywords=plastic+shoe+rack

Edit: NOT my ebay posting. I saw it a while back and gave me the idea to search for it on Amazon.
I actually have the same one! Here's the Amazon link:

Shoe rack, surplus goes under my bed.
Those that are actively being used for D&D, Frostgrave, Gloomhaven, or whatever current game we're playing I keep them in Letter Trays except the taller ones go on Spice Racks on a shelf all near the gaming table for easy access. The rest go on this Shoe Rack in a seperate room until they are needed.

It's from amazon. I have the same one but skinnier

I have enough shelving now, but when I was in school I had a cheap shoe rack like this one. Another great option for space saving is an over the door rack.
I used these storage “cubes” (not actually cubes so it comes with 3 different sizes of panels 😛 but it turned out nice that way) and corrugated plastic
It's [this one from Amazon] (https://www.amazon.com/Seville-Classics-Resin-Wood-Composite-Utility/dp/B00336TY0K) stacked on top of one another
Edit: I have the same one(s)
C'mon...gimme - Surprise me!
for my want/need: Im trying to reorganize my closet - and desperately need things to make max use of my space I live in a small place with too much stuff, and Im overwhelmed at the moment with trying to whittle it down and reorganize so I dont like in chaos all the time. Id be most greatful for anything off any list.
For something less functional and more awesome - this badass Orgrimmar mug
Youre both hot. Like, stupid hot. Like ...I need some shades because Im burning my retinas out staring into the sun hot.
I have 3 of these (just added a third...damn this sub!). They look nice and do the job. Two are side by side, and I stacked the third on top of one. I'm sure in the next year I'll need another.
http://www.amazon.com/Seville-Classics-Resin-Wood-Composite-Utility/dp/B00336TY0K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408905017&sr=8-1&keywords=shoe+rack
I use shoe racks like this to store my long boxes. Works out pretty well, each "nook" can hold two 660 count boxes.
What storage containers are those?
edit: Found it
The ghetto solution is to use a shoe rack like this one. Somebody posted their desk setup using one of those to hold a few desktop synths a few months ago and it looked great.
https://www.amazon.com/SONGMICS-Non-woven-Organizer-Cabinet-ULSH11H/dp/B00ZOH2J5I/ref=mp_s_a_1_13?keywords=shoe+rack+40&qid=1572900090&sr=8-13
Over the door everything. It's not the most visually appealing look, but it's the best way to maximize your storage space. My personal favorites are the shoe rack and the bathroom organizer. Spend the money for the good ones, not the cheap vinyl shoe bags.
Nice, similar design to the one I bought off of amazon for $20.
Obviously doesn't look as nice as yours but mine lives in a coat closet so no biggie. If anyone's interested in one and has no carpentry skills or time, it works great.
They have this shoe rack at Amazon for 40 bucks. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ZOH2J5I/ref=sxl1?ie=UTF8&qid=1467238769&sr=1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65

I definitely second getting rid of unused stuff. I try to do that every 6 months or so.
Maybe form a compromise with your boyfriend and turn the office into an office/dressing room. It would benefit him as well by helping keep your room cleaner. You can have a wardrobe in there or build a cubby type thing in there. Or go to ikea and pick up one of these:
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10196431/#/20255590
It's affordable and really useful for organizing. You can get bins that fit in each cubby. That way you can have a bin for each accessory. a few for bags, one for scarves, etc. You can organize each purse bin by color or by the type of bag. That way you will know where to look for something specific.
http://www.amazon.com/ClosetMaid-15-Cubby-Shoe-Organizer-White/dp/B002IT6E6A
You can pick up something like that for your shoes and stash it in a closet or in the dressing room. It organizes and you can still stack things on it or hang things over it.
Here you go dude 😏
Seville Classics 3-Tier Resin Slat Utility Shoe Rack, Espresso https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00336TY0K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_SD93Ab150JDXF
Your closet sounds similar to mine.
We bought these and they work great and fit on the shelves quite well. Perfect for jeans! I can fit 6 pairs of my jeans and my husband can fit 4 of his. He’s a bit taller than me.
https://www.target.com/p/river-birch-y-weave-medium-green-room-essentials-153/-/A-53764194
They’re also good for sweaters and long sleeve shirts. I purchased a smaller size for tees and tanks.
There is room to hang clothes under the bottom shelf in our closet. Instead of hanging clothes I put a shoe rack there and a low and kinda wide plastic set of drawers.
We already had our shoe rack, but it’s similar to this.
https://www.amazon.com/20-Pair-Storage-Organizer-Entryway-Stackable/dp/B01LXRS4SI/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=shoe+rack&qid=1550509915&s=gateway&sr=8-4
My plastic drawer set is one piece, but the size of like two of these put together. (I found mine at TJ Maxx and haven’t seen another one in store or online.)
https://www.amazon.com/Honey-Can-Do-3-Drawer-Plastic-Storage-Wheels/dp/B009INB22K/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=plastic+drawers+wheels&qid=1550510086&s=gateway&sr=8-4
Something like this may work well for you too.
https://www.amazon.com/Sterilite-29308001-Drawer-Drawers-Casters/dp/B000MPQ2S2/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=plastic+drawers+wheels&qid=1550510086&s=gateway&sr=8-3
I just picked up this one from Amazon, mainly because it was highly rated by TheWirecutter. I’m pretty happy with it. Solid construction, can be put together in several configurations for different sizes of shoes/boots (especially if you get the two-pack). The width will fit three pairs of men’s shoes or boots on each level.

Ah okay, thought you had the same one. If you are in America, might want to try this one http://www.amazon.com/Seville-Classics-Resin-Wood-Composite-Utility/dp/B00336TY0K/ref=sr_1_1?s=storageorganization&ie=UTF8&qid=1429809445&sr=1-1&keywords=shoe+rack
This shoe rack seems to be popular here (I've seen people ask about it often when small collections using it are posted) can be stackable, and doesn't break the bank.
Not sure of the budget, but another idea might be a sneaker cleaning set (brushes, wipes, and solution) from brands like Jason Markk or Crep, etc. ($30-$50 range)
Bald for St. Baldrick's

I hang all my tops and dress pants. Jeans, chinos, shorts, underwear, and socks are folded in drawers.
I have this tie and belt rack and three of these shoe racks.
I think it's a bug tbh. Look at the breadcrumb above the picture of the rack. It lists as Computer Components > Computer Cases. You can in fact visit that url:

I've had it for a month. Seems solid.
I use this

Obviously doesn't fit 50 like the description says, since you have to take off a few racks to fit the hitops and only 4 fit a row, maybe even 3 if you have big feet
I have some of these and if you set up the shelves right, you can get two rows that fit boots per rack.
I have this shoe rack and it is great.
I wanted something even cheaper and so I bought a bunch of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005KC6DY0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
$10 and work like a charm.
edit: don't forget the zipties.
I bought three of this rack off amazon and have them organized like this
Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B074H1WTQX?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
I keep them in my closet on the floor, with my built-in shelf, but my house is almost entirely hardwood. I take them off as soon as I get inside anyways I carry them around.
Have you considered one of those shoe organizes that hangs on the back of a door?
This bad boy It's not bad. Has wheels that lock. Not the sturdiest thing, but the more shoes you have on it, the sturdier it gets.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00336TY0K/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1481205639&sr=8-2&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=shoe+rack&dpPl=1&dpID=415PANUlISL&ref=plSrch
Just Amazon's cheap ones. The good thing about this one is that you could stack them as many as you want. A bit tricky with high tops tho (only top level can hold high tops). So if you have a lot of high tops I suggest getting something else. As for size, I wear 9.5. So i think it should be fine for size up to 12~13? I mean if you don't mind the rears of your shoes sticking out a little bit, you can put in whatever sizes you want.
11-12 sorry man, heres a link to the shelves, two different sizes of shelves
Tall http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S0Q1COO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00
Wide http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RYGUOMM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00
We have 1 closet to share between two people- me and my husband. I hang dresses and skirts there. I have a door-mounted shoe rack on the back of the bedroom door, and hooks for purses, scarves, belts and jewelry on the walls in the bedroom. I have a single 3-drawer dresser for pants, shirts, cardigan and, underwear, and my nighstand is a tiny 2-drawer dresser for pajamas and leggings. Our bed has drawers under it where I store some of the sillier things like halloween costume pieces, or holiday gear, as well as bulky things like snow jackets. I had to downsize by about half when I moved into this place and I've never looked back!
I've seen this pop up few times. These are stackable.

> Whitmor 6486-1746-Wht Over-The-Door Shoe Rack, White, 36-Pair
https://www.amazon.com/Whitmor-Over-Door-36-Pair-White/dp/B0019FOUQ0
Possible causes:
I once was at my wits end and made a scratching post by stapling a material my cat liked to the sides and back of a wood shoe stand, like this one but half the size: https://www.amazon.com/ClosetMaid-8983-Stackable-15-Unit-Organizer/dp/B002IT6E6A/ Worked great, saved our carpet.
Last but not least, Prozac is available for cats. Also calming pheremones like Feliway and other over the counter things you can try without going to the vet. Mental health issues aren't confined to just humans.
This guy right here
Does anyone know of a shoe rack that is stackable (or at least very tall, since I have many shoes) and has shelves with enough clearance for men's ankle boots (i.e. 7-8" between shelves)? This seems surprisingly difficult to find. The closest thing I've seen so far is this but the reviews leave something to be desired and I'm not sure I could get away with stacking several of them. Any other ideas?
They're called drop front shoe boxes. You'll need the large size to fit sneakers. They're kind of pricy but here's a link to them on
Amazon
For anyone asking for shelf ID, I believe it's this: https://www.amazon.com/SONGMICS-Organizer-Entryway-Translucent-ULPC44S/dp/B074H1WTQX/ref=mp_s_a_1_29?keywords=shoe+shelf&qid=1565832699&s=gateway&sprefix=Shiebshelf&sr=8-29
I need either this shoe rack because we need something that will fit into a cubby and I am tired of our shoes being everywhere in the house, or these potholders since we're down to just one and I am positive I am going to drop a dish full of food one day with just the terrible one we have.
This would be cool
You could store them length wise and get quite a good amount in there, and it should be big enough to store controllers, cables, the system if need be, etc.
This is the one I use: http://smile.amazon.com/Songmics-10-Tier-27-Pair-Organizer-URXJ10Z/dp/B00U5MA8NW?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
You don't have to use the cover and you don't have to build it up all the way. This way if you don't have enough shoes, it won't look so empty. Then you can build it up as you get more shoes.
What about getting something like this?
Tall shoes can live on the top rack or on the floor next to it, everything is visible.
Here. You just need to not include the middle shelf and you have space for high tops. They are also stackable.
I love this shoe rack! It's from Amazon
But they probably sell it at the container store too.
Quick Update:
Started looking into Shoe Storage by SongMics on Amazon
SongMics 10 tier stoarge closet
Maybe this might be something in my budget range. Has anyone had any good experiences with this product?
Yeah I’m only 2 years in and have a history of obsessing and overdoing things so I’ve got checks and balances in place lol
I do desperately need a better solution to my storage, but what do you do with the boxes after you put the shoes in there?
Also are you talking about this product: https://www.amazon.com/SONGMICS-Organizer-Entryway-Translucent-ULPC44S/dp/B074H1WTQX/ref=sxin_4_ac_d_rm?ac_md=0-0-c29uZ21pY3Mgc2hvZSByYWNr-ac_d_rm&crid=VU3XS8PO2OGN&keywords=songmics+shoe+rack&pd_rd_i=B074H1WTQX&pd_rd_r=c614cb64-59e5-445a-869f-fadcd2f5ad41&pd_rd_w=C2zq0&pd_rd_wg=2g7me&pf_rd_p=404c4843-2c96-4d0d-a5fe-2b0598693e61&pf_rd_r=HXW1VE0YJMJ80GNKC63F&qid=1568910952&s=gateway&sprefix=songmics%2Caps%2C545

Drop-Front Shoe Box on Amazon
or Container Store
Thank you! I loved the dress so much that I bought another in light blue.
Would you believe it's from Amazon! This is it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013LCFM0Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_s8BRyb7EADVC9
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XO3DVOM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Q0X8BbDJ0EVJP
I bought one of these over two years and it’s still in great shape.
It’s a little flimsy but I fixed that by just supergluing the rods into their holes. Other than that, the thing is a rock and sturdy
I dont think I have a lot of shoes compared to most ladies so that probably helps. I have something like this in my closet - https://www.amazon.com/Oceanstar-2-Tier-Bamboo-Stackable-Shoe/dp/B00BNRO59G/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?keywords=shoe+rack&qid=1558389713&s=gateway&sr=8-9 and then we have a tall metal storage rack in the garage that houses shoes that we don't bring inside (like muddy hiking boots or rain boots).
I don't know how MTurk works, since I am just now hearing about it, so I'll just throw out $42.
<$10 - Funko POP Sam :D
<$25 - Lego Indiana Jones 2 (PS3)
<$50 - Shoe rack
I bought one off Amazon too, you can check my post history for a pic while I look up the name but it’s a metal rack with adjustable shelves. Mine is made up of two separate shelves that stack.
The shelves are made by SONGMICS
Here is the one I purchased.
Not completely identical, but this is pretty close.

I personally have this one, which is nice because you can add more and stack or extend them.

Here ya go fam
Yeah, I got three of these that stack nicely. I can fit 3 pairs of boots (11.5) on shelf if I alternate direction on every other shoe.
They are bamboo and the finishing is not great. They're kind of splintery. I got a sliver just from picking up a piece out of the box.
I bought this shoe rack from Amazon.
I organize from top to bottom: boots, heels, wedges, flats, sneakers.
I try to only fill up at least five shelves because years ago I was a shoe addict and I realized that was such a waste of money for me.
Not having the rack filled to capacity means I can put my shoes wherever I want if I'm feeling lazy and organizing it nicely later on isn't a daunting task.
Any friends will be fine.
We love this for shoes:

Happy birthday! [i would like this shoe rack] ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005KC6DY0/ref=aw_wl_ov_dp_1_4?colid=1UNWGQGD45Z44&coliid=IEAXBPXQ2AWQP&vs=1) because when the kids come home they just throw them in the box and it is always messy. It really drives me crazy cause it seems like I am constantly picking up someone's shoes.
I have these shoe racks. Incredibly easy to set up, fits 3 pairs side by side per rack. Sturdy and not bad looking.

Probably not what you're looking for but I figure the more contributions the better.
You can put your more valuable shoes on the top shelves to avoid the pup going to town on them.

I gave it some feet to lift the back so I could put the power supply underneath. AND.. you get 2 racks so if you mess one up..
Its actually very sturdy and looks nice in person. I don't think I would travel with it, but it works great at home.
