Nice I have the same scale. I use this to fill 00 caps: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HJBFC6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The smallest one has 00 caps fit perfectly around it on the outside of the funnel tip and holds itself there quite snugly so you can use both hands. Another option for those without 3D printers.

why not go for a stainless steel funnel? Hit up a restaurant supply store, and you'll be set for super cheap. Otherwise, these look fine.

I bought a set of small funnels off amazon and coated them with rustoleum “never wet” The paint just slides off the funnel into the bottle leaving very little waste.

Unfortunately, no. If you’re completely new to developing and haven’t yet done black and white, there’s a bit of an initial expense. I’m going to just list off everything I use for developing. It’s actually pretty compact, I’ve thrown it all in my car on impulse and developed C41 at friends’ houses a few times. I store it all in a small cooler which I also fill with water while developing. Since the developer needs to be 102°F with moderated precision for the duration of the developing time, it helps to have a larger body of water that won’t lose temperature as quickly. So first step for me is to fill this cooler slightly upwards of 102° to put the tank in while I’m not agitating. If you’ve got a cooler, great; if not:

---

  • Cooler - $27.50 on Amazon

  • Changing bag - $13.95 on Adorama

  • Accordion bottle (x2) for developer and blix - $14.99 on Amazon

  • Regular bottle is alright for stabilizer - $3.95 on Adorama

  • Tank and reels - $31.77 on Amazon

  • Funnel(s) to put chemicals back - $2.20 on Amazon — it helps to have a few to avoid the developer and blix coming into contact with each other

  • Thermometer (ideally waterproof, digital is nice) $4.99 on Amazon

    ---

I think that’s about it! You can definitely go cheaper if you look around. The one thing I wouldn’t cheap out on though is the tank/reels. I started with a really cheap stainless steel setup. My reels came pretty bent up and took ages to load, like half an hour at times. I’d often have film stick to itself. I tried C41 with it one time and got blix everywhere, plus it was leaking in the cooler underwater. Everyone says Patterson is the way to go, and I haven’t tried much else but it’s served me well.

I was given a fryer. Never use it. Too much of a pain to clean, is a unitasker, and just takes up space. Not really answering your question, but I second just getting a Dutch oven or cast iron fryer and use that instead (plus can use for a variety of other things too). Couple that with a fry/candy thermometer and you can fry to your hearts content (with even more control that the fryers). I also bought this funnel/filter for a variety of uses, but it works great for straining oil to stick in the fridge for reuse (one of my favorite kitchen gadgets): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0123J1S60/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/Huplescat22 · 3 pointsr/AskReddit

I use the same fry recipe but with easy to find Russet baking potatoes, which I suspect after reading your comment, may be the third best choice. Peanut oil is best for frying at high temperatures and you can reuse it. In fact it browns fries better the second or third time around. I have some that’s been through 10 batches and it still seems fine.

I let it cool then dip it out with a soup ladle, funnel it back into the bottle and store it in the fridge.

EDIT: I’ve been using one of these deep-fryers. Its cheap as dirt but, at least on mine, the temperature gauge is a bit fluky. I generally assume that it indicates about 20 degrees low. Also the cord that plugs into the back is polarized, but it can go in either way and the user has to pay close attention to the markings to get it right or else fry the thing's tiny brain and then it goes to hell. But still, with all that, it makes some great fries with a lot less mess than straight up stove top work.

You can get a cheap canning kit: https://www.amazon.com/Presto-09995-Function-Canning-Kit/dp/B001V9K8A6

It will save fingers and faces :)

Then a cheap stainless funnel set up: https://www.amazon.com/Norpro-Stainless-Steel-Funnels-Set/dp/B000FKERMW which I boil while managing the bottles.

So like a total of $22 bucks.

This hasn't been suggested yet, exactly, so...

I use a $5.61CAD canning funnel, specifically this one: Norpro 607 Extra Wide Plastic Funnel, Green https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B000HJ99XS/ . Just recently got it after years of getting powder on the counter every time I mixed a bag. Works great.

Using a scoop, you get powder all over your hands and it sticks to the sides of the scoop then flakes off onto your counter. Would rather do without.

u/achtagon · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

Also if you want to go wild you can get a vacuseal attachment and vac pack your jars!! I have things I open a year later and still fresh. I just had to do a purge though as my new wife pointed out that some of my vac-packed jars were 8 years old!

See: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000UQ428A

Be sure to buy the wide mouth versions. All sizes come that way or small mouth; but the small mouth is harder to fit your hand into for cleaning and for filling. Ooh - and for filling get one of these to make your life easier: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000HJ99XS

For pouring I use a stainless steel funnel. But depending on the bottle size, I might also use a 25Ml serological pipette with hand pump.

Downside to the pump & pipette combo, you need steady hands as it's just over 20 inches long, can be a little unwieldy.

u/Liljonny11 · 2 pointsr/vaporents

Not sure if I'm allowed to post links to puffitup ( I am not advertising FYI just giving some helpful links)
https://www.puffitup.com/Boundless-Universal-Adapter-p/bound.106-wpa.htm
And
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.amazon.com/Funnel-Compatible-Boundless-Flowermate-Swift/dp/B07HM8QZH3&ved=2ahUKEwinieCgzdblAhXEMd8KHb8MDy4QFjAAegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw3EO9jepsWTtxfLHh08b1da

FYI anyone not using the WPA is using the CFX/CF wrong. I absolutely hate using my CFX or CF now with the mouthpiece. It's a completely different device through it. Honestly even a j hook weird setup out of the WPA helps. It just cuts the draw resistance in half, allowing for bigger draws. And for cleaning I use a pick to scrap off just where the screen is if it gets gunky on the inside, takes 5 seconds, it really just works for a long time until the reclaim builds so much you need to boil the piece in milk for stem milk or iso wash. The funnel is so worth it too. I thought I was dumb for spending 10$ on a piece of plastic but the huge issue with this vape is that bud falls in to those cracks holding the mouthpiece but now I just pour in, takes 1 sec to pack.

u/garbonsai · 2 pointsr/fermentation

For books, I highly recommend Fermented Vegetables and Fiery Ferments. The Kindle editions of both go on sale regularly. In fact, Fermented Vegetables is currently $2.99.

For lids, I assemble my own. The new Ball Leak-Proof Storage lids aren't leak proof, but they're better than the old-style white ones. Sturdier too. Buy them at your local grocery store—they'll be way cheaper than Amazon. You'll also need 3/8" x 5/8" rubber grommets, which you can find in your local DIY store in the electrical section—you want ones that have a 3/8" inner hole and fit into a 1/2" hole, with an outside diameter of 5/8". Finally, 3-piece airlocks, which are going to be cheapest at your local homebrew store (they should be a $1, maybe $1.50). 3-piece are easier to clean than the 1-piece. From there, you just drill a 1/2" hole in the lid, insert the grommet, and then insert the airlock. Support the lid around the hole as you insert the airlock so you don't crack the plastic.

Other equipment:

  • Sauer Stones are my favorite glass weights. Right now they're $10.95 for four. I think I have 20 or 24 of them at this point. They work great in conjunction with a cabbage or horseradish leaf to keep everything under the brine.
  • You can never go wrong with having a couple of food-grade 5-gallon buckets kicking around for mixing kimchi, or salting large batches of sauerkraut, or even fermenting in. Again, these are cheapest at your local DIY store. Get a lid with a gasket, and make sure you grease the gasket with food-grade grease.
  • Jars. Stop at garage sales, thrift stores, and rummage shops. You'll occasionally find a good deal on mason jars, or a unique Fido jar, or who knows what. The more you ferment, the more you're going to end up in situations where you need odd-sized jars. If you come across Fido jars with bad or missing gaskets, these work really well.
  • More jars. If you need larger jars or want to buy new, Fido jars from EverythingKitchens.com by way of Google Express is the cheapest I've found them. Free shipping for buying a certain amount, sometimes you get a discount from Express for your first order, blah blah blah.
  • Even more jars. If you need gallon sized jars that you want to fit with an airlock, this is the cheapest I've found them. Get the plastic lids, then see the instructions above. If you need extra lids (for storage), these fit and are of good quality. The 1-star review is from some dumb-dumb who ordered the wrong size.
  • Oh. One more thing. Pouring things out of mason jars sucks. They always dribble, etc. But they're also the best way to store, say, fermented cordials, or to mix up your brine (cap and shake the shit out of it). These lids do not come cheap, but they are well worth the purchase price. Leak-proof, with a removable rubber gasket, we use them for everything from drinking to storage. And they pour like a dream. Easy to clean too.
  • Actually, one more one more thing. Get yourself a good strainer/filter/funnel set. This one is, again, not super-cheap, but I got rid of all my other ones and use it exclusively. It disassembles, screws to wide-mouth mason jars, has a plastic strainer for the first stage and a fine-mesh filter for the second stage, the narrow bottom part is silicone and is removable, and you can put a coffee filter in the fine-mesh filter portion if you need to.

One last thing. I see folks suggesting sanitizer. It's absolutely pointless for lactic fermentation. You're not sanitizing the vegetables that go in, or your hands, so there's no point in using anything more than soap and water on your equipment. If you're talking about brewing beer or cider or wine or something where you're looking to introduce a specific strain of bacteria, yeast, or fungus, then you need to sterilize.

u/homebeach · 2 pointsr/coldbrew

I have made some changes to my ratio and have improved my methods. I used one of these to filter the large ball jars into smaller ball jars using paper filters. And yes, with one funnel this is tedious and uses a LOT of filters. I now use 1 and 3/4 cups coffee to 64 ounces of water. Have added two more stainless wide mouth funnels. So - next day when the brew is done, I set three small Ball jars with a funnel and paper filter in place. Pour off the entire batch into all 3 jars simultaneously, adding some thick and thin brew to each filter, and just dump the remaining grounds. Go away and let it drip, and then even out the jars to half way up and top off with water. I am now using three paper filters where I use to use 4, 5 and 6, trying to filter sludge by the end. Much quicker, less work, and I will do this forever.

It's kind of pricy but I found dropper bottles on Amazon:
Tool Parts New Arrival 50PCS 10ml... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MGFCXWX?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

And little funnels:

Stainless Steel Mini Funnels for... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078Z9LWDW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

And tiny glass beads:

TOAOB 500pcs 6mm Round Glass... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018LPC6R0?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

And spent a day transferring all my bottles into dropper bottles. I found that the Citadel labels peel right off the pots and slap on the droppers pretty easily.

You should note that the funnels don't perfectly fit those little dropper bottles but it works. The beads are a perfect fit, I put two in each dropper bottle. The bottles come from China, so if you order they take like 2-3 weeks to arrive. You'll also get some bad ones, I think I found like four when I transferred my paints. Now I don't spill anything and my paint doesn't dry out faster than I use it!

I did find that using a sharpie to color the tips of the caps on the shade bottles made them dirt easy to find when I've got a bunch of droppers out.

Let me know if this helps you!

Glad to hear it, man. That thing looks solid. And by the way, [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Norpro-2-Inch-Stainless-Detachable-Strainer/dp/B00004UE6N/ref=pd_bxgy_k_img_y) would be a must-have for me to go with it.

My one gripe about the DeLonghi is its temperature range, which only runs from 300-370. It's less than most-- by 50 degrees on the lower limit, and by 5 degrees on the upper. I think I'm just being whiny though.

The machine is probably the best for what it'll be used for. I don't see much purpose poaching with your deep fryer (using it below 300 degrees), and anything above 375 is probably tempura. Unless your mom dreams of making competition-worthy tempura for real Japanese people with this thing, I wouldn't sweat the five degrees.

Glad I could help. Feel free to run any more thoughts by me.

u/Nanofibrous · 2 pointsr/AskEngineers

Hi there,

I was brainstorming your problem from the perspective of fluid flow/pipeflow. I also assumed that your 3d-printed funnel is shaped like a typical funnel like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Clear-Plastic-Funnel-Micro-Container/dp/B00G703K18

The first concern I had with this idea was that you'd be altering your airflow measurement because you wouldn't be measuring the velocity of airflow from the direct channel anymore - you'd actually be measuring the airspeed as if the airflow was coming out of a channel as wide as the larger side of the funnel- which (again, this is assuming air laminar flow is similar to liquid laminar flow) would mean that you'll end up with readings much slower than the "true" speed of your airflow.

I thought of two possible things to get around this:

  1. Would it be possible to attach a thin tygon tube to one of the outlets on the narrow axis of your device on one end and the other end attached to a balloon? You could measure how much air passes into the balloon over time by measuring the volume and dividing by the cross-section area of the tygon tube.

  2. Do you only have access to that one ananometer? I hope there is a version out there that would have a smaller internal diameter for an application like this.
u/Hutobega · 2 pointsr/ageofsigmar

Why yes I did except for a few technical paints. I took a solid day to do and it's not that hard though in my case many of my paints were harder and needed severe watering down so right now they are not in the best of shape BUT if you'rs are in good shape should be no problem!

Here is what I used:

https://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Dropper-dropping-Bottles-Removable/dp/B00V479TVE/ref=sr_1_20?crid=3AH1GI9Q6GALS&keywords=dropper%2Bbottle&qid=1555967511&s=gateway&sprefix=dropper%2B%2Caps%2C166&sr=8-20&th=1

https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Miniature-Essential-Super-Outlet/dp/B078Z9LWDW/ref=sr_1_6?crid=1PK6V6O4TN4HG&keywords=small+funnel&qid=1555967555&s=gateway&sprefix=small+funel%2Caps%2C165&sr=8-6

And you can throw in stainless steel ball bearings as a mixer as well but I got a bad batch that ended up rusting cause it was a lie lmao. But the bottles and the funnel are the only items you really need. For getting paint out you could get nice metal scrapping tools to help with the process.

Like I said it takes time but was worth it when I did it.

I was originally going to buy a UV LED strip similar to the one you linked. What I ended up doing is below...

I bought a $5 Lowes bucket, and some foil AC/heating tape. I cut a square hold in the bottom of the bucket for this light and mounted it with longer 4mm screws than it came with, going through washers.

I also bought a solar powered turntable display to ensure that small items got even exposure. Cover the turntable with a small amount of foil to prevent the bottom of your print from either leaving a mess on the turntable, or curing to it.

Added a UV flashlight to cure the bottom of the print with a bit before putting it into the curing chamber (UV Bucket of DOOOOOM!).

And finally, for clean up after printing, I bought a more permanent filter and funnel.

u/Jurph · 1 pointr/Coffee

Use a wider-necked juice bottle like the 1.75L "simply" bottles; make sure you have two of them, or one bottle and a 2L container.

Put in 100g of coffee, ground to the same coarseness you use for French Press. Fill it with cold, filtered water and let it sit in your fridge for a day or two. Make sure to flip & shake after about an hour to ensure you don't have pockets of dry powder plugging up the neck of the bottle.

When you're ready to strain it, get a couple of cheap sink strainers, or pantyhose, or a nut milk bag. Put them in a funnel. Put a clean empty bottle in the sink, set the funnel in its neck, and set your filter(s) in the funnel (if you're using sink strainers you'll need at least 3 stacked up). Pour from the cold brew bottle -- gently! -- so the settled grounds don't come loose. When you get to the end of your first pour the filters will clog up quickly, so go slowly.

Once you've transferred the cold brew to the clean bottle, cap it and set it aside. Rinse out the brewing bottle, clean it, and repeat the transfer process, pouring back to the brew bottle. Repeat that process as many times as you like until there are no more big particles. You can do a super-fine final pour through a paper filter if you really want, but in general your particles will sink to the bottom and as long as you pour slowly you'll be fine.

You can get the whole cold brew setup (sink strainers, funnels, juice bottles, and beans) for $20-$25 and the bottles should last 6-10 refills before you notice the plastic getting discolored.

You can often find canning jars without lids at garage sales and thrift stores. You can buy lids at any hardware store, or other store that sells canning goods.

Some jars have wide mouths, some have regular mouths (it's based on the diameter of the jar opening. You can buy these plastic lids
http://www.amazon.com/Ball-Regular-Mouth-Storage-Caps/dp/B0000BYC4B

or you can get the more typical metal lids and bands. http://www.amazon.com/Ball-Regular-Mouth-Lids-Bands/dp/B000BWY314/ref=sr_1_9?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1405299770&sr=1-9

The plastic ones are easier to use for storage because you don't have to wash both the lid and band. But since you aren't canning anything, you can reuse the metal lids and bands as many times as you want---as long as they are not rusty.

A wide-mouthed funnel like this makes it a lot easier to pour rice in.
http://www.amazon.com/Ball-1440010770-Home-Canning-Funnel/dp/B00203K1MW/ref=sr_1_40?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1405299891&sr=1-40

You could also pour your rice into plastic freezer bags and stick them in the freezer or fridge.

Another option (probably the best)--buy canisters at thrift stores or garage sales. They're expensive new, but cheap used.

Oh, another option! Store rice in plastic Coke bottles. Or old glass iced tea bottles.

Don't buy more brown rice than you can eat in 6 months. The oil in the hull can go rancid (best if you freeze or refrigerate if you can). But the hull and the oil are very good for you.

If you have a mason jar funnel and refold a normal coffee filter into a cone (or purchase something like a set of chemex filters), you can do a decent pourover. Before I purchased a chemex I would occasionally do a home-rig pourover with the filter basket from a Bunn machine. Controlling the water temperature and grounds saturation does improve the quality of coffee you make, so it's worth trying it out.

Probably not what you're looking for but it's a decent alternative.

Norpro Stainless Steel Wide-Mouth Funnel w/ Handle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004UE88/

It might take a little bit to find one that fits correctly, but this works and it's so much cheaper.

Get a cup that you can fit beneath your grinder. Preferably smaller the better. Tare the cup. Grind, then measure the dosage and dump the cup into your portafilter. Give the portafilter a shake (like trying to flip an omelette) to balance out the grinds.

Remove the funnel then tap the bottom of the portafilter with your inner palm so the grounds cover whatever spaces the funnel left. After that you just tamp and you're good to go.

Worst case scenario take the basket you're using on your portafilter and go to a supply shop to find one that fits. Ideally you want one with the thinnest 'walls' possible, yet allow it to fit to the point where you can remove it without much resistance, therefore disturbing the settled grounds.
