It's basically impossible to openly read The War of the Flowers and still retain any shred of masculinity. It doesn't help to try and explain the content either, being as full of angry fairies as it is.

I recall also picking up a clearance copy of The Witch Book along with a couple cookbooks. The clerk cocked an eyebrow and said "I don't think I'd want anything you're planning on baking." Probably could have used that as a springboard if I was a little faster on my feet. Oh well.

I really like Rodales New Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening , it's not super in depth, but has bits on tons of different stuff to get you started. I'd maybe just give up on the seedlings at this point, and go for store-bought, but then again I don't have much seed-starting experience. I live in Maine and I just plant my carrots directly into the ground since transplanting them is a pain, and that usually works just fine even with the short season. Good luck, your soil sounds nice, I think you're gonna be fine!
