My dad has one I was just saying last night would be good for smoking, but it doesn't meet the "flat" criteria you want. It's butane, refillable, it has both a torch and regular flame function, and both are adjustable in intensity. He has apparently ordered me one.

You ignite it with a button on the bottom. You don't have to hold any button to keep it lit, which is handy, but technically less safe.

What about this one, the only issue is that they say it could be a choking hazard, Other than that it seems pretty safe, great price!

They also have them with bottles, but I have my job supply any bottle that needs to be hydroed.


Basically same thing you were gonna buy but Victor which is what all the pro fab guys use. They have flashback arrestor at the handle instead of at the regulator.

Krep your rig in your truck. Some heat and cold wont bother it. Keep the bottles off and the regulator "closed" (handle loose) while not using it and the setup will last your for many many years. Plus parts (like hoses) are carried at every welding shop.
