Just buy a bun maker, and save yourself the hassle: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071J9TNPL/

Source: Am dad of a young girl that dances at a dance studio. That and he's making that bun insanely tight and will turn her into JoJo.

u/peahat · 12 pointsr/BALLET

I think a really nice ballet bag would be cool. You could do a little research on what other dancers typically keep in their dance bags an fill it with goodies! Like a cool water bottle, a resistance band, a cute sweat towel, hair accessories, extra tights. I'll edit my comment with some ideas when I have a second.

Edit:
Nice gym bag,
Resistance band,
My favorite way to get a perfect bun,
Good sweat towel,
Spill proof water bottle(VERY IMPORTANT!),
Tights.

Either of these will help with the bun! I used to like the snap bracelet type bun maker better, but now I’m all about the donut.

Haven't watched the clips so I can't say for certain, but it could just be one of those velcro pads that girls use to hold their bangs back.

Just chiming in. There are "hair donuts" you can buy specifically for this purpose, but you can also cut the toe out of a sock, roll it up, and use it inside your bun. This method will make the bun bigger, more shapely, and easier to secure.

Something else you might try is a texturizer. It makes your hair more voluminous and less slippery.

I wasn't sure if you had prime or not. So assuming you don't this is the cheapest item on my wishlist. This is one of the oldest items on my wishlist and I'd love it for my kitchen. :)

You can get one of those thingys that help you create a hair bun from the drugstore and just swirl your brush in it to switch between different color powders.

Edit. Found this on amazon. General idea obviously.

Gifting is fun and this contest is awesome. I've got some variety on my Christmas wish-list.

Okay, first, we're going to the electronics. My tablet, named Tabby, is naked. She needs to be a bit more modest with this sassy, but classy, red cover.

Alright now we're getting a little thirsty and it's time to take a quick water break. What's that? You've got a glass but you need a STRAW?? I got choo covered, my friend.

Alright alright back to the list. It's tiiiiiiiiime for some detective work, Watson! Let's look for something for my/our messy hair. 'Cause we look a right, but oh-so-wrong, wreck.

AND boom! The total comes to 19.99 and we've got a penny left over for good luck!

What about "padding" your hair using a bun form? My hair is nearly waist length, but baby fine so my buns for ballet class were always on the wimpy side. I always use a donut when I put my hair into any sort of updo, it gives volume without adding lots of weight, and gives me something to anchor bobby pins into for stability.

I'm a figure skater, so I was worried in high school about cutting my hair off too! I didn't like that I wouldn't be able to get a bun, because for synchronized skating, everyone's supposed to match. In college, I cut it off to a pixie, so I couldn't even get a ponytail. I ended up just hairspraying it down so it wasn't flopping around, and getting a headband headband that matched the other girls' ribbons on their buns. We also had some girls with really short hair, and got them some teeny tiny bun forms so they could still get a bun that matched. If you can get a ponytail, get a matching teeny bun form, cover as best as possible and then use a hairnet to smooth the bun down and hold in sticky parts. Some bobby pins and you should be good to go!

Cutting my hair was one of my favorite descisions I've made in a while! I feel much more feminine and attractive than before; I think it depends more on how you cut it to suit your face than whether it's too short. Go for it!

Hair donuts come in different sizes. Here's a small one on amazon that would work better for fine hair: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D6DJCG6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Qp5pybK7G7BWE

I'd love to try the sock bun!

I can't imagine the shipping is high on that, but I can't figure out how to see what the shipping cost is. Can anyone help me out with that? It MUST be under a dollar.
