Using double sided toupee tape has been a lifesaver for me with this. It holds better than the stuff marketed for women. One side stuck to my shirt, the other side stuck to my chest, and voila! I’ve now turned a cleavage-baring top into a work-appropriate shirt!

u/slavkody · 54 pointsr/ABraThatFits

Burlesque performer here!

Like another poster said, I'd recommend covering the nipples with something more nipple friendly than just tape. You can get nipple petals at Walmart, drugstores, online - tons of places! As far as actually taping the dress down, I'd go with a strong, double sided tape like Topstick or some wig tape (I prefer single pieces to rolls, personally). You can get wig tape/Topstick and petals at most beauty supply stores.

I have used both Topstick and wigtape for my wigs AND pasties for years and never had one slip off. Even after hours of go go dancing, everything was still firmly affixed.

I'd also contour around and between the boobs. Because they deserve to look as glorious as possible!

I'm not trans, but I have short hair that rarely grows. So I got a wig on a whim off amazon.

This is what it looks like

Second pic

I went to a party with this wig on, and to the mall. Everyone commented on how much they loved my hair and totally shocked it was a wig. Look up ways to make wigs look more realistic (powder, maintenance, etc).

Seriously, wigs are totally fine and there's a TON of them out there that look super realistic. Plus, there's many reasons people wear wigs other than balding issues, so it's nothing anyone would likely call you out on.

This was the wig I bought. Only 17 dollars on amazon. I had to style it a bit, and give it a big haircut (I'm really short, this was really long). There's a lot of great ones out there that aren't terribly expensive, and if you want to super invest, there's real-hair wigs as well.

It's never EVER too late. And transitioning before puberty would, unfortunately, not have stopped the male-pattern baldness enough. So take this chance to be exactly who you want to be. You only get one life, so live it exactly the way you want to.

Hey! I actually did a marceline cosplay a couple months ago (althought different outfit of hers). I did it all for under 50$ by thrifting most of the outfit (and using my own jeans). A grey tank top you can probably get anywhere for really cheap.

For wig, I really recommend this one. It was cheap, held up no problem for an entire weekend of a convention, and looked way better than anything you'd get at a party store for the same price: Canada link, way cheaper for the US of course & how it actually looked on me as marceline

Hope that helps at least for the wig!

Only $15! I still need to learn how to maintain it, but at least I know that replacements are cheap if I bungle it too badly.

u/IzzyTheAmazing · 5 pointsr/FancyFollicles

I just recently started wearing wigs regularly, so here's what I have to offer that I've learned recently.

First of all, you'll need a wig comb and cap, so be prepared to have one of those. I put my hair in pin curls under the cap, then put the cap on so that my hair doesn't look like a wild mess when I take the wig off.

Kanekalon is the best wig fiber, and it's not expensive. The one I'm wearing now is one I got on Amazon for less than $20, and everyone compliments me on it.

So things you should know:

  • The hair on a wig is meant to be cut and tailored to your face, so there's more hair than you'll need and it'll look weird. It won't ever look like the pictures, so be prepared to style it a little.

  • This shit tangles easily, so be really careful and have a wig comb handy.

  • Don't use regular hairspray or products on it. This is a fiber, not hair, so don't use normal hair things, or treat it like hair at all.
u/PanisCup · 4 pointsr/crossdressing

This site Has very cheap wigs, but I'm not too sure on how good of quality they are :I

I would also recommend looking around Amazon, I found my wig on Amazon, and I believe the price is continually going up (I got it for $15) plus it's pretty decent quality

Good luck!

The hair chalk is alright, the color definitely faded over the day, but there was no fallout on my clothes or anything. I also had to significantly wet the chalk to get it to color well, but the color was cool, a sort of faded eggplant grayish color. Haven't tried the other colors yet, we shall see how the lighter colors go…

u/Malari_Zahn · 3 pointsr/weddingplanning

Another solution to holding the straps in place at your shoulders and along your back would be toupee tape. I'm a burlesque dancer and use toupee tape to keep my clothing in place while dancing and even use it to keep my pasties (heavy, very rhinestoned!!) on!

My typical wear time is about 6-8 hours, with a lot of sweating and movement. I just make sure my skin is dry and lotion free when I put on the tape and I've never had any issues with it staying on. [This is what I use] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000F3DXLU/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_a_it?qid=1462717181&sr=8-2&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011&keywords=toupee+tape&pi=SY200_QL40).

For the first month I suggest tampons dipped it pig's blood or fake blood. Whichever looks more real.

Second: lady bugs.

Third: A regular looking envelope, but inside is a piece of paper soaked in pig's blood. Nothing has to be written.

Fourth: A nice parcel with a styrofoam head.

On the fifth, leave a fruit basket. Don't do anything to it.

After that, I have no idea. Just be careful: I'm not a lawyer.

That looks really nice on you! I suggest pulling it down a little more. It should sit at the top of your pointer finger if you put your pinky finger at the bridge of your nose.

Have you tried it with a wig grip? I find I feel more comfortable and secure when I wear a wig grip under my wigs. They are pretty cheap on Amazon. Search on YouTube on how to make a wig smaller/tighter. There are lots of tutorials that show you how to make them feel more secure.

Also, Amazon has some really nice, inexpensive wigs. I have an "It's a Wig" Konis or Justine that's really nice for $30.

This one looks similar to your picture and has good reviews.

I got a decent wig from Amazon that's a fairly decent price right here. Buy filing them in I mean getting some a brow pencil, brow gel, or brow pomade to fill in the brows with color. This is what I'm talking about.

Looking at some of the amazon wigs, that's just the name of the wig seller's company. They add it to the beginning of a lot of their products. The store that sells them is TLTSHOP and they have other products like TLT Fairylights. You can also see in the description that it comes with a "TLT wig and a TLT wig cap". These kinds of companies normally add their shop name in the product name. Just like SWACC does for this wig or eNilecor does for this one.

If you look down at the product description it says that they're "TLT wig adopted 100% Matt high temperature fiber from South Korea, which is often known as Japanese silk." but they also state "Wig Material: Imported Japan Kanekalon".

TL;DR not a different material just a seller adding their name to the product name.

Sure, most of the big box home stores like Lowes or Home Depot sell them I believe they just call them table leg blanks or something similar. They are usually with the hard woods in the slots underneath the dimensional lumber. I use a lot of the 1.5x1.5x36 inch oak blanks for my practice projects and tool handles. But you can cut and glue up bowl blanks with them. Super glue finish is a good finish for pens but there is a learning curve. My only tips for it are use thin ca glue like this . Use blue shop towels to apply it (put a little on the towel and swipe while lathe is running slow) and you can get accelerator but it’s not needed. I use 2-3 coats then finish with friction finish its the best method I’ve come across. I don’t mind handing out tips if you need any more just ask. Have fun

I got hit pretty hard by this pre-HRT, but between HRT, finasteride, minoxidil, and dermarolling my hair is pretty much entirely back. The temples are the only spot that didn't really come back, and there is actually quite a lot of baby hair there that I'm still hopeful will start growing thick, normal hairs like everywhere else on my head has (seems to be happening, albeit very slowly). For now I'm pretty content with my hair, but if I ever wanted to really reinforce a super feminine hairline all it would take is a small hair transplant of 1000-1500 grafts and I'd be golden.

For now I'm using a wig while I wait on my new hair to grow to a decent length. This is the one I currently use and I love it.

All the world is a stage indeed!

I absolutely LOVE the stage life too! I'm in a sketch comedy group on my campus, here's a few pictures of our performances. I also spent some time on a speech team, which is a really complicated thing to explain, but basically we wear silly suits and perform really awesome monologues or public address speeches. And OF COURSE, I've been apart of the Vagina Monologues for the past three years. I directed this past year, and I'll probably be directing next year too. Here's some pictures of those performances.

Then there's all those high school performances, but those were weird and I was weird and I prefer not to share pictures from then...

A five dollar item? This is a cheap wig stand (how appropriate) that is on my "Lil Stuff" wishlist :-)

Thanks for the coolest contest ever! I've really enjoyed looking at the other entries. And your pictures ROCK too!

I personally go through Etsy. It's fairly easy to use, doesn't charge much for hosting. She's also going to need Paypal and a bank account to tie to the Paypal account.

I am going to suggest getting (or borrowing) a good camera/camera phone for the pictures. Also, buy a foam head to help model the hats easier, because then they have definition and aren't lying flat.

The thing that I find works well for me is not only cross posting my stuff everywhere but also finding a niche and catering to it. I can say that my crocheted My Little Pony hats have sold well, and so have my Pokemon hats. Every few weeks, I post to their subreddits, and mention them on my facebook (not linking to that, sorry), on occasion I do give-a-ways.... she's going to have to, for lack of a better term, whore her shop out. Get people to notice it. Get them to spread the word. Do special games or sell something unusual.

She also has to know that orders aren't going to come in right away, nor will they always be that common. And that's okay. My shop laid dormant for the entire summer, but that gave me time to focus on school and a (very) few designs.

When it comes to pricing... find something similar and price around that. That's my best advice. I price the same as most other people selling beanies, and when I factor in time x cost, I only make several dollars an hour (though, like I mentioned, I end up getting paid to watch tv, so yay).

Feel free to ask anything else you may want to ask, and wish her luck from me!

This is my day-to-day wig. It came in three colors when I started buying it, but I'm not sure anymore. You'll have to look around on Amazon.

[This] (https://www.voguewigs.com/katherine-5974-wig-jon-renau.html) is my more expensive wig; it's a Jon Renau, style "Katherine," color code "8RH14" aka "Hot Cocoa" (look under "See More Colors"). You can see both the style and the color on the link, but unfortunately not together (it's out of stock). I'm not sure, but I think this is a popular item.

The Jon Renau is the wig I made my debut in: the first time I went out socially presenting female. It was special. :)

I had two. The first one was super long and curly can be found Here

The second one was a shorter, but just as curly. Can be found here

They are cheap. So they didn't look too real, but that may be because I was used to seeing my colored hair. I'll post some pics in a minute.

Alright, here are some pics. With a few added bonuses of some coworkers wearing the long one and looking like terrible drag queens.

Growing up mixed (Black and white) with a white father was a struggle. When my mom deployed for a year when I was a kid, he had to learn how to manage my hair. If he can learn, so can anyone.

For the dads out there, below are the steps to learning how to manage and style your daughters hair.

  1. Go to a black hair supply store (they will 100% have what you need at an economical price)

  2. A cheap long lacefront wig $20-$40. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B014KQDCE0/ref=pd_aw_sim_194_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=RVYDFT9FJMAKWP2795CE

  3. Foam wig head $5-$10. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005ACLU3E/ref=mp_s_a_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1482019533&sr=8-3&keywords=foam+wig+head&pi=SY200_QL40&dpPl=1&dpID=41%2BBuQwRC%2BL&ref=plSrch

  4. Wig pins $2-$5 https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0048L3JPU/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1482019390&sr=8-1&keywords=wig+pins&pi=SY200_QL40&dpPl=1&dpID=41ee645ztuL&ref=plSrch

  5. Wig stand (essential) $10-$15 https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01874IQX8/ref=mp_s_a_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1482019489&sr=8-3&keywords=wig+stand&pi=SY200_QL40&dpPl=1&dpID=31aBtBNWLRL&ref=plSrch

  6. Find YouTube tutorials, and don't give up!

These tools will allow you to learn how to do your daughters hair with the confidence that you've perfected the style. For all of you dads out there, good luck!
u/edith_cd · 2 pointsr/crossdressing

I recently bought this wig. The quality is pretty amazing given the price (currently $9). It by no means passes for real hair, but IMO it looks as good as the wig I got from wigs-us.com for more than three times the price.

The trade-off for the shockingly low price is that it ships from China and took about three weeks to arrive here in the US. Also, I've been told these break down faster than more expensive ones. Regardless, at $9 a pop I was able to get a couple of different ones to experiment with colors and styles.

I'm not sure of my head measurement but I know it's larger than average. The aforementioned wigs-us wig doesn't fit super well, while the cheapie Amazon wigs actually fit around my scalp a lot better for some reason. I would highly recommend them for experimenting prior to investing in an expensive wig.

I can't help you with the poses but I have some experience with the hair. I have hair that's all the way down my back right now. Do a tight french braid. If it's thick enough that a single one leaves a visible lump going across the top of your head do pigtail french braids. If you have an excessive tail left over, try doing a french braid crown like this: http://babesinhairland.com/wp-content/uploads/IMG_2622E.jpg

For your wig, get some detanger to comb through it. It won't prevent all tangles but it'll help ease straightening it out again. When you're not wearing it, put it on a foam head and the head on a stand Some T pins will help keep it in place. During transport I've found it helpful to loosely braid the wig and put a hair net gently over it too.

u/MilkFroth · 1 pointr/bassoon

I honestly don't like duco cement. I don't like putting extremely hazardous materials anywhere near my mouth. I prefer [this] (https://www.amazon.com/Bob-Smith-Insta-Cure-Super-Thin/dp/B001NI4JWI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1468043557&sr=8-3&keywords=Bob+smith+glue). It dries in seconds, and forms a really good bond with not just the thread, but the wood as well, making it a fantastic sealant. If you are going to use nail polish, I'd suggest melting a bit of beeswax on the inside of the tube to protect against leaking, as that has been a major problem for me every time I just use nail polish.

High end professional superglue. Known as cyanoacrylate glue chemically. It comes in super thin (almost water-like) consistency, up to a thicker gel. There are different "working times" available, from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. That's how long it takes to bond and mostly cure.

You can get applicators to attach to the bottle to pinpoint where you want it. A bottle of the good stuff (high viscosity, 60 second working time) should run $10 or so, but this would be enough to attach a canoe to your garage, if used correctly. This is the type I would use. Water thin for maximum penetration. The applicator tips are a few of bucks for a multi-pack. You will find a million uses for the stuff once you get it in this form.

The biggest things, if you were to try to do it this way:

  • You get one shot
  • Wear gloves!!!
  • This can give off some minor irritating fumes. Use outside, or just work near a fan.
  • Use as little as possible on the side (just enough to reconnect the wood fibers)
  • Use more on the very edges, as that is an area more likely to get knocked around again.
  • Go slow. Don't work on more than 1" at a time.
  • Masking tape can hold things in place and over corners while you work on another spot.

Note: This following step may get some luthiers up in arms. I would NOT RECOMMEND THIS FOR AN INSTRUMENT OF HIGH VALUE. This is a bit of a shortcut. But in this case, for the split kerfs and the rest that area inside the guitar, I suggest polyurethane glue. One of the bigger brand names is Gorilla Glue. Use tiny amounts, trying to pinpoint it as well as possible. One of the properties of this glue is that it does expand a bit while curing, which is great for filling small gaps. But if too much will push the other repair apart, so don't go crazy. Apply drops from a toothpick if you can.

And short of me doing it for you, that would be my best advice.

By the way, have you plugged it in and checked the electronics yet? Just curious.

I would be this sexy fox I always been called a vixen so I can finally be the part.

Then I would wear these shoes

One of these nights I'm going to give you my soul to squeeze cause I'm Foxy, Foxy

My stripper name would be desert vixen since I live out in the desert and I normally am a vixen to those.

I would buy [this]{http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008I0OXR0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3PU7L9H0YP05S&coliid=IK7W28HM3Z5PD) cause I love having different hair.

This is the glue I have always used for building rc planes:

http://www.amazon.com/Bob-Smith-Insta-Cure-Super-Thin/dp/B001NI4JWI/ref=pd_bxgy_hi_img_y

Its called bob smith brand. I believe that the lightmode kit actually uses this exact same glue but they put a label over it. There are 2 types I use, thin and gap filing (which is thicker). I am not sure which I am going to use for the helmet yet, I think gap filling would probably be needed but it looks like they might be using thin in the kit.

Also there is a spray on accelerator I use which instantly cures the CA glue. It gets pretty hot though when you spray it on so my only concern with using the accelerator is that it could damage the helmet finish from the heat depending on the finish.

If you are worried about it, you can buy medical grade cyanoacrylate (for veterinarians) on Amazon, but I just use regular ol' super glue and an accelerator (although accelerator's not really necessary unless you're using thicker CA like a gel).

Okay, so I've got a problem. I bought a wig but had to return it because it was too small. And I'm thinking that most wigs are going to be too small (hats never fit well). Measuring from my hairline to where my skull meets my spine is 62cm. Obviously this is going to drive the price up. I'm okay with a synth since I'll be wearing it 1-3 days a week. Curly/wavy brown, about 14-16 in. This is what I bought and I liked it but it was uncomfortably small. It hurt to wear and would start moving up my head since I have a large skull. I've tried looking but most places don't have an option to filter cap size or if they do, they only carry like four different wigs.

So, do you know of a shop that caters to big brained large skulled ladies?

I just got one of the melody Susie wigs on Amazon. It was $15 and it's the best one I've had. Highly recommended for the cost.

Here's the thing about wigs: pick an appropriate and realistic style, color, and length given your clothing style, face shape, eyebrow color, and skin color, and you don't actually need to spend a ton of money. If something looks plausible, most people won't give it a second thought. The catch is that you might need to experiment a bit to get the right style. Get some cheap wigs off Amazon, borrow some from a friend, mess around with PhotoShop, (or do what I did and copy your sister's hairstyle).

This is a $14 synthetic wig for cosplayers: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008GR4L18/ It happens to be the one I was wearing when I went in for my first HRT consult, during which I managed to surprise both my doctor and her intern by removing what they thought was my actual hair. I assumed a trans specialist who is herself trans would have seen enough wigs to immediately identify one, but nope.

Thanks! I haven't advanced too far into makeup yet, so I'm just making sure I get a strong base down before trying to do anything else. My wig was from amazon. It's this one. It's been a decent wig so far. I'm saving up for a higher quality one, but I'd recommend it for a good starter wig.
