I've been looking through reviews and seem to like these. here are more if you want to browse. I have really long and thicker hair kind of like Sophies but 1/10th as pretty. Nothing ever holds in my hair so I'm thinking I'm gunna buy these and* report back haha

edit: purchased with two day shipping. see you soon, rollers.

Flexi Rods.

I am Loooooow maintenance. Makeup routine is 5 minutes (foundation, mascara, lipstick - if I'm feeling fancy, a swipe of blush). These will hold a curl for me for more than a week (I use the pineapple method at night).

To use these, I wash, set, and sleep in the set overnight. Flexi Rods are the be all end all as far as I'm concerned. That and a headband similar to [these])https://www.amazon.com/Oureamod-Headbands-Athletic-Moisture-Headwear/dp/B01GMH4VC2/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1479768947&sr=8-11&keywords=headbands) and I am all set.

Flexi Rods are ridiculously versatile. Like I said, I'm often in a headband, but for the style you showed, flexirods would be my first choice. Easy peasy, and the curl pattern would keep for ages.

I have a set from my mom that is an older version of this model. It really is the easiest way to curl your hair. It gives a lot more volume imo.

u/Kimberkley01 · 12 pointsr/Vindicta

My hair is kinda meh. It's not super fine but it's poker straight. I've always liked curly hair so I always had perms. While perms are easy they're expensive and the end result does not look natural imo. Then I discovered foam rollers like these

Hair Rollers Night Sleep Foam... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077XNYLLB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

These babies have been a total game changer for me. You wrap your hair up and they're comfortable enough to sleep in. The end result is completely natural looking curls that last all day. On day two it's not as curly but it still looks great.

I'm mentioning these because anyone who wants to add volume to their hair should try them. They will make your hair super curly if you use a lot. But if you wrap large pieces of hair and only use a few you should end up with gorgeous waves and amazing volume.

For a non heat method I use Conair foam rollers (the pink ones in this set. Put them in when your hair is 80-90%dry and take large sections. Make sure to spray sea salt spray at your roots for volume( while your hair is wet) and use hair mousse). Here is a pic of how mine turns out. Obvs use hairspray and oil and stuff too. I only ever use nonheat methods to curl my hair and it has really preserved its health especially since it is colored, would really reccommend!

Has anyone tried curl formers like these from Amazon?

Do they work? Do you have any photos of the results? I have slightly naturally wavy hair but don't really know how to make it work for me (yes, I already know r/curly hair exists before I get like 20 suggestions for it). I have found that doing a dutch braid on my hair overnight will give me decent waves, but I also wanted to have other options.

u/cornbreadfiend · 6 pointsr/muacjdiscussion

To be honest, I don't have much knowledge with hair stuff, but I've been looking at this one and this one just based on customer reviews. I like that there are clamps instead of pins and the storage compartment looks good too.

u/inside-us-only-stars · 6 pointsr/femalehairadvice

I'm a big fan of no-heat curlers. These are the ones I have. Leave them in while your hair dries and the curl generally lasts longer than heat curls do, in my experience.

I have dealt with acne for over 10 years and I had/kind of still have sometimes the same problem. Something I wish somebody would've told me sooner is to use vitamin e pills. I have bought SO many products, used retin-a creams, went to the dermatologist but the one thing that definitely helped calm down my pigmentation areas/redness in scars is vitamin e capsules. This is the one I use http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EQ0C30/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
I've found that combatting the problem instead of concealing it got me better results.

I pop the capsule with a needle and apply it to my problem areas and then I spread the leftovers all over my face. The NEXT morning my face will look drastically better and then I don't have to worry as much about concealers.
On top of that, I also take them orally in the morning and night.

Another thing I did for the longest time was spray green tea on my face every morning. This helped decrease the redness around my face DRASTICALLY. I just put the tea in a spray bottle, stored it in the fridge, and every morning sprayed my face with it. I don't do it as much anymore but only because I haven't had the need to.

One thing that helps conceal my scars is mousse foundation. This might just be with me, but I feel like the mousse settles into the scars and after I apply powder foundation, my face pretty much looks flawless. I have been using the Maybelline Mousse foundation for years and years. I try other foundations but always end up going back to this one.

Here it is http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=138294&catid=183551&cmbProdBrandFilter=42698&aid=338666&aparam=138294

Hi there! When I posted my thank you for the strawberry hair rollers not too long ago some people expressed interest in a) seeing me as a strawberry patch kid and b) feedback of how they work, so I present to you this album :P I tried to be informative in the captions, but let me know if you have any questions.

By the way, this is the link to them on Amazon, and it's $6.55 with free shipping (they came in a little under 2 weeks for me, so not too shabby!) for a set of 12.

I live in the desert now too, I’m not the springiest of chickens and I’ve stopped coloring my hair. I too can’t style my hair and allowed humidity to do the work for me most of my life. For my current desert, single digit humidity issues I learned that lots of layers are my friend to help keep the weight of my hair pulling out the curls (prior to desert living I was 3b-3c). When I found the CG method I started experimenting and learned I can only co-wash once then I have to do a re-set wash. I get much better curls if I sleep with my plop but I find that uncomfortable. So I started looking for other strategies and I found this take on old fashion foam rollers. Holy cow, the difference in my hair is night and day. I still plop for a lot longer than most, 1-2 hours depending on how much time I have, then I use the rollers (I’m using basic CG method products and procedures, nothing special) for a couple of hours till dry. This is time intensive but I will do this on weekends and wear the rollers while I do around the house/yard stuff. The resulting curls are fantastic and survive my nightly pineapple great. If there are a few curls that pull straight I just loosely roll them again while I get ready for work, no additional products, and they curl right back up. The curls last for days! I’m still battling frizz but I’m so happy with these rollers. I don’t care if people consider this cheating or whatever, it works for my situation. I do get very tight curls when I first remove them, but they fall out into my former natural curls pretty quickly.

Sure! Here's what I used and really liked. I'll follow up in a few with the tutorials I found most helpful, I have to dig for them a little.

Curler set

plus extra jumbo size rollers

With these clips (I ditched the covers that came with the set, at the suggestion of youtube)

More to come shortly once I find the other links!

ime, if i use curlers on my bob length hair it makes my hair really curly and I have better luck with curling with a straightening iron or curling iron. That being said if you want to try curlers, these steam curlers are my favorite curlers I have used. They're really gentle on the hair since they're steam, heat up easily and hold the curl, and the set comes with a varieties of sizes to play around with.

u/Hughhefs · 3 pointsr/BravoRealHousewives

Hey there!!

I just wanted to say I have really thin hair and I ave been using hot rollers for weeks after watching this video. They have CHANGED MY LIFE!!! I ended up with these. I would advise going really light on the hair spray or forgoing spray completely if you have thin hair. It just ends up weighing it down.

https://www.amazon.com/Conair-Instant-Rollers-Exclusive-Included/dp/B007S69QAY/ref=sr_1_2_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1485189896&sr=1-2&keywords=large+heated+rollers

u/Jessie_Lightyear · 3 pointsr/weddingplanning

ELF has a pretty good, reasonable priced setting spray if you're looking for one but don't want to drop $50.

Ah I always underestimate hair thickness XD I also have trouble with ends when I use the wand to curl my hair cause I'm scared of burning my fingers. My strategy is either to get someone else to do it or I have these hot curlers that have worked really well for the past couple years. You have the same potential problem off too much hair in one of them, but you're far less likely to have straight ends. I definitely prefer them, especially when I'm doing my own hair. They save a lot of time cause I can be doing something else while they're curling.

You'll want to give them plenty of time to warm up (the light says 15 minutes, but I usually let them go for a half hour) and then I leave them in while I do the rest of my morning routine (45 mins - 60 mins, but it doesn't hurt to go longer) a few pins and hairspray and I'm good! Also, they keep your hair out of the way while you do everything else.

There is also the problem of having different sized curls. You'll either have to be patient and do a few rounds of them or pepper the odd sized ones through out your hair. For example, I use the large pink ones on the back of my head. bottom layer since there's a lot of other hair to help hide the fact that they're not as tight and I use the tiny white ones above my ears to get a nice tight curl. That's the chunk of hair I fiddle with the most, so I give it a little extra curl at the beginning of the day.

u/MsQuirky · 3 pointsr/HaircareScience

If you wanted to do curls OR beach waves sometimes without heat styling, I've had fantastic success with rag rollers (I got these). Just make sure to only wrap when your hair is DAMP, not soaking wet - then sleep in them overnight (I slept in a satin bonnet but YMMV). More rollers = tighter curls (gently finger comb them out in the morning - they'll look like Shirley Temple style when you first unleash them). Fewer rollers = loose waves.

u/GetsEclectic · 2 pointsr/Nootropics

I would drop the vinpocetine:

http://www.longecity.org/forum/topic/23457-vinpocetine-ditch-it/

Try taking the bacopa before bed, it makes some people tired.

Maybe lay off the CILTEP for a few days and try supplementing some glutamine, did wonders for me.

Try adjusting your choline intake, too much makes some people depressed, but not enough will also make you tired and brain foggy. Too much will give you muscle soreness and possibly a headache from muscle tension.

You could try some n-acetyl-tyrosine and see if it helps your motivation. I wouldn't take too much though since one of your ADs is a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. Have you always felt this unmotivated, or is it a recent phenomenon? If it's just a recent thing, what has changed in your life that might have caused it? If it is chronic, and n-acetyl-tyrosine works for you, you might want to ask your doctor about trying ritalin/methylphenidate.

I would also try to get off the SSRI/SNRI, serotonin is depressing. There is a common misconception, possibly due to incorrect ideas about how MDMA works, that serotonin makes you happy. SSRIs actually increase suicide risk for the first few weeks because the excess serotonin makes you depressed. The anti depressant effects take a few weeks because they are due to physiological changes in your brain due to the extra serotonin.

Do you take a multivitamin or any vitamins other than D? Personally I think the base of any nootropic stack should include a good multivitamin, some antioxidants, and probably fish oil, although some people react negatively to fish oil. Not including any racetams or ciltep or anything purely nootropic, every day I take:

AOR Ortho Core

B Complex

Vitamin C

Vitamin D-3

Vitamin E

Fish Oil

Green Tea Extract

Pine Bark Extract

Magnesium

Calcium

Probably less important, but I also take acetyl carnitine, alpha lipoic acid, alpha gpc, glucosamine/chondroitin/msm, rhodiola rosea, eluthero sibricus, jiaogulan, mushroom product including reishi and chaga, glutamine, l-phenylalanine, creatine, coq10, ashwagandha, lion's mane, bacopa, and astragalus.

In addition to all that I take various nootropics sort of randomly as I feel like, including sulbutiamine, piracetam, aniracetam, pramiracetam, noopept, and forskolin/artichoke/hesperidin.

Last, and probably most important, get plenty of good sleep.

u/shmemily_ · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I use one of these clips to sort of clip them back in a loose poof. https://www.amazon.com/Conair-Roller-Super-Clips-White/dp/B000R87B1Q/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1481039101&sr=8-1&keywords=hot%2Broller%2Bclip&th=1

I find if I don't pin them back too tight, I don't get weird kinks. When I'm finished, I use a fine toothed comb to brush them back into place.

u/Vanska1 · 2 pointsr/Hair

As a girl, I would think about a large round brush that I could use with a hairdryer. Basically take your large round bristled brush and while your hair is the tiniest bit damp use it and the hairdrier to create that wave. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002JKQ9E/ref=twister_B0002KZUP8?_encoding=UTF8&th=1) I have a girlfriend who uses large hot curlers (something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002JKQ9E/ref=twister_B0002KZUP8?_encoding=UTF8&th=1) that would do the same thing but you might not need that much curling power. :-) GL!

I was trying to post your last one that I had the song and it disappeared on me lol

This is $1.99 & free shipping. They are cute little hair rollers in the shape of strawberries. My little one loves it when I let her sleep in curlers so she can go to school with curly hair :)

These are the best hot rollers I've ever used. If you've got longer hair you'll need two packs. I lost some of the little metal holders so I bought a more expensive set of hot rollers and threw these out, and I've regretted it ever since!

Pretty much zero damage steam rollers. The steam tames my frizz, and the curls last for days. My only suggestion is to buy an extra pack of the large rollers.

Edit: Changed buy link to cheaper bundle with fewer curlers. Most people don't care about the small rollers, so imo don't spend money on them.

u/queendweeb · 2 pointsr/UnresolvedMysteries

I'm in agreement that they mean plastic curler. I'm from DC, which isn't that far north, in terms of linguistic speech patterns. We say curling iron up here. Curlers are those plastic things. Also, the report refers to it being "jammed" into the throat, I suspect it was recovered with the body.

I'm guessing it was likely a foam curler of some sort, like these, or a variant on these. The plastic curlers you mention tend to be totally open through the center, and likely wouldn't have caused suffocation. These would have, though, and the smallest ones could be swallowed, I'd think.

u/A_Clever_Name9 · 2 pointsr/FancyFollicles

My hair sucks. This is the only thing I have used that had excellent results!
Bad mama jamma

u/daclamp · 2 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

DON'T DO IT!

Perms are scary, scary things and very damaging for your hair. Get yourself a set of Caruso steam rollers and see what you think of that. If you don't have time for such nonsense, try letting your hair air-dry for a bit, apply a styling cream and twist it up into a few buns until it dries. Let it down, comb gently and spray. That's how I add more curl each day.

Just don't get a perm. Please.

Sorry about the long link but this worked wonders for my hair when I got married. The steam is great and the foam rollers are comfortable. Let them cool completely in your hair and sit. Do some trial runs and see what works. Good luck!

u/Poorrusty · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Rød grød med fløde.

  1. Reasonable!

  2. I have never broken a bone in my body, although my index toe is broken, due to my mom falling down a hill when she was pregnant with me. It's crooked. My brother has a few webbed toes. I think this is due to his dad being a raging alky. Moths are drawn to the light because they think it's the moon light which they use to help create their internal flight patterns. Eventually, they get so worn out trying to reach the "moonlight" that they die. Kind of beautiful, that metaphor, really.

    Thanks for the contest!

I have a set of these Conair rollers and love them. I don't use the smaller rollers. The eight larger ones do the trick, and I have pretty thick hair past my shoulders. I recommend using these clips with them instead of the wire ones that come with the set.

I've used them at home and on travel for about a year now, so I don't know if they'll last forever, but I'm very happy with them overall. They don't seem to be doing the slightest bit of damage to my hair, either.

u/BetheyBoop · 1 pointr/Hair

u/attigirb · 1 pointr/AskTrollX

I've never used that first kind -- the texture looks like Velcro?? I meant this kind of curler (am on mobile so can't make a clean link): https://www.amazon.com/Conair-Foam-Rollers-48-Pack/dp/B001KYS930

These aren't bendy like your second link -- instead they have a sort of barrette insert to snap shut on your head. The foam also has a decent amount of give, so that you can wind the curl tighter on the curler.

u/ktwat · 1 pointr/Hair

How long/what texture is her hair? If it's fine and mid-length, I love these strawberry curlers for soft waves when I put them in dry hair, and shirley temple curls in wet. However, if her hair is longer than shoulder length, they won't fit in the curler and might tear. I've had one rip in half on me in the two years I've worn them, but they're so cheap you can get multiple packs.

u/-runredditrun- · 1 pointr/whatisthisthing

Wonder why you can't link to Amazon. Do you produce ref-links for some reason? Or do you have some kind of malware that changes links to reflinks connected to their own account to get money for links you post?

Wow I am surprised on how many comments I got on rollers. I’m going to try and link the ones I have below . Mine are like this but grey. And huge. They look like the grey ones in the models hair—not the pink ones I bought them at Sally’s hair supply years ago. I wash my hair., condition it Wrap it in a soft towel for about ten minutes. Then I add a bit of anti frizz mousse,”brush “my hair and section it and roll it in the giant rollers with a good amount of hair on each one. IMy hair is mid back length so it takes awhile to dry. I take them out and get the softest hair. I brush it and put it in a tight pony for about 30 minutes to set it. Then take it out and it doesn’t even feel like my hair. It’s not straight like using a straightener —it’s straightened out with a lot of body and some gentle wave. . But I have super frizzy corkscrew curls naturally. This style will last me three days. When I do this with my hair I get so many compliments. Also , I roll the rollers under so my hair has a slight under curl at the ends. link to curlers

They make these really hilarious pool noodle looking things that you can wrap your hair around (wet) and they're actually super comfortable to sleep with in. You can easily play around and adjust how curly/wavy you want your hair to be by wrapping larger sections or smaller sections around them and they won't damage your hair at all. You can order them on amazon: Here!

My hair is bleached platinum and I recommend steam rollers for zero damage! There's slightly more of a learning curve than regular hot rollers (though, minimal) and I really enjoy being able to style my hair without heat. I use the Caruso rollers, I bought mine at Sally's Beauty Supply but they're on Amazon as well.

Thank you thank you. I need to get my schedule under control so that I feel like I have time to put my hair in curlers (it's a bit of a process).

I hope more people share their photos. I feel like when I wear colors in the proper season, my complexion looks more creamy and delicate (like the curled hair photo) and in the photos with coral or orangey blush I look strangely pale or just off. I think we probably have some members with even more starkly different before and after photos.

BTW, will you be posting some findings on your color season? Or maybe a photo for the weekly challenge? I am so eager to see some of our discussions in action. Talking theory is fun and all, but variety is the spice of life.

u/hmbmelly · 1 pointr/AskWomen

I have fine straight hair and have finally found some things that work for me:

  • No heat methods: foam curlers or mini buns all over the head overnight
  • Curling: Use a heat setting spray like Redken Hot Sets before curling. They'll be crunchy, but the curls will stay. Alternatively, I've found that recently using volumizing shampoo and conditioner (lighter, fuller hair) with NO pre-curl product helps the curls stay as well. For longer hair, I really like the Topstyler clamshells or similar products that let the hair cool down first, creating glossy, bouncy curls that stay.
  • Waving: I just got the Bed Head Deep Waver, and it is my favorite thing. I think because you work your way down the hair while holding the previous wave in place, the waves have a chance to set before dropping. And it takes 5 minutes!
u/bananasmcgee · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

We're going to play it by ear at the salon. If she's excited, we can try to get her hair done. If she's not having it, we'll just pass and do it later. I just didn't want to get it done if it was just going to be ruined a couple hours later.

I think it could go either way. She LOVES girly things right now - bracelets, necklaces, mom's shoes... But we will see. I might get a package of foam curlers as a backup, but otherwise we'll just comb it and put a bow on her or something.

u/Nymrata · 1 pointr/FancyFollicles

Thank you! I do have some great success with hair rods like these. I think they're meant for wet setting, but if I sleep in them I can put them in dry. You can get a very similar ribbon curl, but it's hit and miss. Good luck finding something that works for you!
