I failed to keep the mascaras I went through this year... my bad... But I always use Maybelline Lash Stiletto.

What have I learned? I should really tone down my purchases of products like eyeshadow palettes and blush palettes. It takes FOREVER to get through one. And yet I have so maaany.

I do a combo of Milk Shake leave in conditioner all over:

https://www.amazon.com/milk_shake-Whipped-Cream-Leave-Foam/dp/B006FXKP0Q

Then follow up with OGX Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Extra Strength from about my ears down to the ends (just past waist):

https://www.amazon.com/OGX-Renewing-Penetrating-Sustainable-Ingredients/dp/B005DYJZ7M?th=1

Then a dab of Kenra Silkening Gloss all over:

https://www.amazon.ca/Kenra-Platinum-Silkening-Gloss-2-26-Ounce/dp/B0013VY4AM

And finally Kenra Blowdry Spray all over:

https://www.amazon.ca/Kenra-Platinum-Blow-Dry-Spray-3-4-Ounce/dp/B003UNPS0Q

Caveat to all this: I have EXTREMELY thick, coarse, porous hair. It's the only reason I can get away with it.

It's supposed to be good for hair or something like that.

Did you ever not see this in an Indian store?

If you have very fine hair straight hair this will obviously be pretty difficult. You want some natural wave in there.

First off, something to hydrate and add a little shine. A small amount of something like OGX's products. Don't overdo it. Spray it in while wet, comb it all very well.

While your hair is wet, work in something with a very light hold. Something without a lot of weight, a cream rather than a hard wax or something. Hanz de Fuko Scheme Cream seems like it would work great here (I feel like an HdF shill with how much I mention them. I swear guys, I just really like their products. I wish they were paying me). When I say "work it in", I mean you don't want to just run it through your hair. You want to really play around in there. Go nuts. Get it all through there. No need to comb again, leave it as is. Should give it good texture as it dries.

I wouldn't bother blowdrying here. Just letting it air dry would be the much better option. While it's air drying you can occasionally take your hands and just tousle the front and top around. Why not right?

__

Cut is pretty much.. not even a concern. You'll grow it out to this length, go in, show them this picture and just say you want it trimmed up to get the front/sides to the right length. And get some texture in there. Some longer layering.

That's pretty much it. This was my hairstyle for most of my preteen years before I hit that awkward emo/scene stage.. Pretty easy to maintain, though a little frustrating. Gets very frizzy in the humidity. Get one of those anti-frizz sprays, should help a lot.

Enjoy!

Here's how you'll get as close as possible. After you step out of the shower:

  1. Towel-dry your hair.

  2. Use a leave-in conditioner like this one. It will act as a heat shield and protect your hair.
  3. Blowdry your hair into position while brushing it in the direction you want using heat.
  4. Once it's dry and in the position you want, add just a little bit of argan oil. You can really get in there an mix it in at the roots and your hair will still fall back into place easily because of step 3.
  5. Now add a small amount of your matte product, and make sure you emulsify it by rubbing your hands together first for an even coat. Do the same thing as the oil. Get in there and coat the roots. Remember, less is more. It's really only needed to provide a bit of texture as your hair is already in position from the blowdrying and softened from the oil. The more you add, the less hold you'll have (as paradoxical as that sounds).

Yes! I use the Oshima tsubaki brand. When I was in Japan I bought the original and also a 'hair version" from the same brand.

Camelia oil is very rich, so I find I need very little otherwise my hair looks greasy. I have fine hair, but a lot of it, and the ends are bleached so they are a bit dry.

The hair version is a little lighter in consistency and also works well - a little goes a long way.

I find the best results are when you rub a couple of drops in your hands and apply to damp hair.

I never use conditioner anymore, cos this oil is so effective.

Apologies if the formatting is off here, I'm on my phone!

I've burned through oils, man. It's just not worth the investment. I get beard balm and the coconut oil. Shower --> apply coconut oil to wet beard. Let dry ---> apply beard balm to dry beard. Comb out through every stage.

I use a 1-inch flat iron and 3/4-inch curling iron for these styles every morning because otherwise my asian hair would just be flat, stiff, and straight.

If you guys who also have a two-block have any styling questions I’d be glad to help you out :)

edit: I ask my hairdresser for a soft two-block (with #2 all around the sides and back) and for straight/blunt bangs up to my eyebrows.

  1. rub a tiny amount of this junk throughout damp hair,

  2. spray this magical stuff all over head,

  3. air dry,

  4. don't wash hair for, like, four days. Seriously four.

Anyone interested in argan oil might be better off buying pure argan oil online, rather than Morccanoil. I know everyone LOVES that brand, but it contains a lot of silicones, as does One n' Only. You want the benefits from the argan oil, not a product that fakes healthy hair. It's worth the price to get quality stuff.

I personally love using it on my ends when my hair is already dry. It really does wonders :)

u/[deleted] · 7 pointsr/AskWomen

You can use any virgin coconut oil that you'd find at the grocers but dilute it in a spray bottle with water. Then after your shower shake your spray bottle and spritz it all over your hair. If you want a thicker oil I'd suggest Moroccan oil -- this is a great brand. Either way you'll smell yummy all day :)

u/faerielfire · 5 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

Unfortunately, according to the ingredients list, its mostly cheap, coating silicone, and very little 'oil'.

u/MaliaXOXO · 5 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

TBH the S.W. Toner is too expensive for the quantity
Here's the custom recipe I've created for it.

  1. Thayers Alcohol-free Rose Petal Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera, 12 oz ($10)
  2. Bragg Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar (With the Mother), 16 Ounce - 1 Pack ($10)
  3. Miracle Botanicals Premium Bulgarian Clary Sage Essential Oil - 100% Pure Salvia Sclarea - 10ml ($10)
  4. Miracle Botanicals Organic Australian Sandalwood Essential Oil - 100% Pure Santalum Spicatum - 5ml ($30)
    Total= $60

I think the best think you could do is to focus on de-frizzing and less on keeping it straight. The more you use heat to style your hair, the worse your frizz problem is going to be.

I would start with experimenting different shampoo/condish combinations. I like Matrix Sleek OR if you are as frugal as I am, the Suave Knock-off (BTW its cheaper at the store then amazon for some reason) I only used those as an example because thats what I use, obviously you may get different results.

I also got mythic oil as a gift and i LOVE IT! I apply it to my damp hair once a week or so to the ends and its really lovely. It helps make the waves look less like one big mass. And there are cheaper versions of this too, I've seen a few at the grocery/drug store.

I'm no pro though, so the best I can say is to keep switching up products until you find the right combo, and shampoo and conditioner really make a huge difference IMO. Next time you get a haircut, go to a nice salon and talk to your stylist! They go to school to learn about this!

u/aleebsi · 4 pointsr/AsianBeauty

Oshima Tsubaki Oil is more cost-effective. It's available on Amazon.com, and some people (myself included) have found it at their local TJ Maxx.

It's a hair oil, but some people use it for their face as well. I just use it for my hair, because I have another facial oil.

Avoid head and shoulders.

A post I made earlier:

I am no expert, other than my almost 2 yeard. Here is what I do & I do not have problems with itchy, dandruff, etc.

Clean: I use Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap. http://www.amazon.com/Grandpas-Soap-Co-Pine-Ounces/dp/B00028LN1K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373586004&sr=8-1&keywords=grandpa+pine+tar

I use it for my head, beard, and really, everything else. Never use dandruff shampoos. This is great for the whole body, and easy to bring with you.

I give my beard a good wash (with soap above or another brand, which is the same brand of conditioner below) a few times a week. Depends what I did during the week and whether it needs it.

Condition: Every time you wash, condition. Even when you don't wash, condition. 5-6 times a week.

I use these guys: To smell good: http://www.amazon.com/Organix-Nourishing-Conditioner-Coconut-Ounce/dp/B000TG850M/ref=sr_1_4?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1373586168&sr=1-4&keywords=organix+coconut+milk

To aid with repair: http://www.amazon.com/Organix-Anti-Breakage-Keratin-Conditioner-Ounce/dp/B00ADR6L08/ref=sr_1_6?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1373586204&sr=1-6&keywords=organix+anti+break

Follow directions on bottle. Easy to use.

Post shower: Let's talk about oils, etc. Many things you can use. Stay away from creams. Hard to get to skin without making beard messy. Pick any oil (coconut, argon, hempseed, grapeseed, jojoba, etc). The key is to get it to your skin and also on your hair. That is where Mr. Boar Bristle Brush comes in (see below).

Before I leave this section, check out: http://www.amazon.com/Organix-Nourishing-Coconut-Breakage-Serum/dp/B000N758A2/ref=sr_1_2?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1373586204&sr=1-2&keywords=organix+anti+break

I use this to help tame fly-aways during the day, or if I feel my beard needs a pick me up. They make several varieties, so the best thing is to get into a store, smell the ones you like, and try. Again, using regular oils works the same.

Brush: This guy is your friend. It doesn't pull hairs, causing breakage. It also goes deep and helps spread those oils throughout your skin.

I can help with some of this stuff...

Magic Wand, if you're looking for the original HV-260 by Vibratex (Formerly Hitachi) Then you can order one from these places. I've bought mine from Amazon, but right now most retail places are about the same price, so you can be sure you're getting the real deal.

I know many people with the Lovense Lush and are happy with them.

Not sure about the anal hook, if such a thing exists. Lovense does make a remote controlled buttplug

Handcuffs? Like metal police-style ones? Not recommended. Process that rope and use that, or get something in leather or neoprene

For nipple clamps, something adjustable is good for beginners. I tend to use good old-fashioned clothespins mostly. I do have a pair of clover clamps and they hurt like hell, most people I play with cant have them on long.

Did you watch that WykD Dave video I linked before? Processing rope isn't hard. I was hesitant too my first time, once I got one down and saw how easy it was, the rest was smooth sailing. Like I also mentioned at the time, butcher block conditioner is easy to use, warm the bottle for a while in warm water to melt any solids in there, apply it to a rag, then rub down the rope with it. It doesn't take much, I used just under half a bottle to do my whole rope kit (the same one I linked you).

Edit: My next wand purchase, if I ever get to the point where I can afford to drop this kind of cash on one, will be the Doxy Die Cast which is 150% more powerful than the Hitachi and has a silicone head so it's more body-safe.

Edit2: Mineral oil or jojoba oil without wax can also be used to treat rope.

I recommend getting the split ends trimmed since there is no way for products to truly repair the ends; this also keeps it from splitting further up the strand.

Oshima Tsubaki oil used sparingly is a lifesaver for dry, damaged hair. I like to apply a tiny amount mixed into leave-in conditioner and let my hair dry naturally. You can apply it to dry hair as well but I feel it's more beneficial to taming my hair mess went applied wet. If you go overboard, your hair can end up looking greasy! It's a very close second to pure argan oil for my coarse, dry, frizzy, thick hair but since this is AB, I thought it'd be more appropriate. You can find it on Amazon or eBay.

u/AgentKittyfeets · 3 pointsr/AskWomen

Hair Oil. Garnier's Dry version. I swear, it's a miracle to me. I work it into damp hair, let my hair sit in a towel for a few, then work a bit more into the ends before I blow dry. It cut down the time to blow dry, and my hair is really soft and less frizzy!

I also use a spritz of heat protectant when using my straightener/curling iron.

And once a week I deep condition with Hair One.

I love Camellia oil. (Amazon) This is the brand I use, but I'm sure any 100% pure oil would work well. It's multi use and I sometimes put a few drops in my shampoo as well as my night moisturizer.

u/ohgoodgracious · 3 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

So, you know, this is a day by day thing.

On my worst days, it goes a little something like this:

Shampoo with a no/low sulfate shampoo. Condition with Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner. Dry with a not-so-rough towel or a nice t-shirt.
Comb hair. Apply It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product. Comb that through. From there, work in some Nexxus Humectress. Comb that through. Do another scrunch dry with a towel or t-shirt. After that, work in some Garnier Fructis and shape the curls. And if it's a really humid day and I think my ends may feel dry or crunchy to the touch, I put a tiny bit of Fructis Moroccan Sleek on the ends. Air dry whenever possible.

In low humidity, and better hair days, it goes like this:

Shampoo with a no/low sulfate shampoo, or possibly a Co-Wash. Condition with Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner. Spritz a bit with It's a 10. Apply Fructis Sleek and Shine. Shape curls and/or use diffuser.

I second grapeseed oil. Acne sufferers are usually low in linoleic acid, so it's good to start with a oil high in that. This oil is thin and sinks in quickly and leaves a nice glow on your skin. It's a staple in my skincare as an oil cleanser and moisturizer (body as well!) I even have my boyfriend using it!

The one I use (8oz) for ~$10

Hi,
are you talking about this argan oil? cant find one fore extra thick and coarse hair

u/DaisyKitty · 3 pointsr/RBNLifeSkills

Okay, the voice of authority is speaking here. I know exactly what you're going through. Although my NMom would complain plenty about my hair, she never offered a single word of advice or help.

But never fear, I will eagerly impart to you all the knowledge I have acquired!

First, set aside your brush for the moment. If you have dry curly hair, brushing can be the worst thing you can do. It will only make thing worse.

Second, identify your hair hair type. In your case, your hair is likely dry or sun-damaged. Look for that type on the bottle of shampoo before you purchase it. You want a gentle shampoo that does not strip your hair of its precious oils. And guard against the tendency towards self-hatred you might have as the child of an N and don't overwash or overscrub because you think you are dirty or bad. You're not. Treat your hair gently; our curly or kinky hair is among the most fragile and can break easily.

Likewise find a conditioner that reflects your hair type. Coconut oil conditioners and shampoos are good ones, but go onto Amazon and find shampoos and conditioners that are both cheap and highly rated (the two do not need to be mutually exclusive) I like Dessert Essences coconut shampoo and conditioner.

Make sure you work the conditioner gently through your hair with your fingers. And then let the shower water rinse it out without you doing anythingmore than running your fingers through it. This will detangle it on it the spot and you won't need to comb it when you get out of the shower. When you do get out of the shower, bend forward, and let your hair come forward (if you have long or longer hair) and then in that position, wrap and towel around your still detangled hair. The towel will soak up the excess water.

Now comes the magic.

You use a de-frizzing product. Yup. They exist.

I would have Hermione hair without one simple product Now this may not be the exact one for you, but for me it's the best.

What it does is coat the hair in a some sort of silicone stuff, so your hair, when dry, is instantly silky. At the same time, it adds a little weight to your hair so it is no longer fly-away, fluffy or sticky-out-y.

Use a small amount on damp hair, maybe the size of a dime in the palm of your hand. Rub your palms together so you have product on both hands, and work it gently through your hair, making sure you are moving your hands down towards the ends of your hair. If you use too much you'll know it because your hair will be lank and greasy feeling in a day or two. You'll probably have to feel your way to the right amount and will make a few mistakes at first. ETA: TO BE PERFECTLY CLEAR, DO NOT WASH THIS PRODUCT OUT. This stays in your hair.

That's it. DO NOT BLOW DRY. You and I cannot do that. Maybe you'll want to put the towel back on.

The next day if you want to comb it, use a comb like this one Okay, that one's expensive but 1) it's wide tooth and 2) the ends of its teeth are rounded so they don't scratch your scalp or cut into any hair.

But my guess is that that you will not need to always reach for a comb, that running your fingers through your now silky silicone treated hair will be more than enough.

When you do go back to brushing don't use brushes with boar brush or plastic-y nylon brush on them, splurge and get a good one like this one It has wood tines/bristles that glide through your hair and don't tug and saw at it, the way brushy brushes do. They also stimulate, not scratch the scalp.

If as the days progress you feel things are getting too fly away, you can rub a very very very small amount of melted coconut oil between your palms and rub it through your hair. That will bring things back under your control.

I've tried to make these pearls of wisdom as uni-sex as possible, i.e. for both long and short hair, but if you have any questions let me know. Fly away hair is the worse, it makes you feel so not up to facing the day!

u/Celladoore · 3 pointsr/PolishGauntlet

I noticed the main ingredient in CND Solar oil is Jojoba oil, so I just bought some and decanted it into a amber glass dropper bottle, and use it like twice a day. If you want to make it fancy you can add some lemon or lavender essential oil, but plain jojoba works amazing for me. I also use jojoba for a hair oil(add it to my conditioner and straight for frizzies), and use it as a moisturizer for my face. Stuff is magic yo.

Before that I used coconut and teatree, which also works well(and works as a handy antisceptic).

Edit: Oh and using it is easy! You literally just put a drop on each finger and rub it in. Jojoba oil as well as sweet almond oil has the added benefit of supposedly being the only oils that can penetrate the actual nail plate, so it can help hydrate your actual nails in theory as well. I don't have any peer reviews studies about in on hand though, so I'll just have to trust the blogs I've read about it on, and Solar oils claims.

The four things that helped me the most were washing my hair less, hair, anti frizz serum, letting my hair air dry/using less heat, and using a bit of argan oil.

My hair is a similar texture to yours, and I used to wash it every day or at least condition it every day. Now I wash and condition it every other day and. On the days I don't wash it, I put some dry shampoo on my roots and brush in in before going to bed. I also switched to washing my hair at night and letting it air/towel dry, and this is probably what helped the most. On nights when I do wash my hair, I brush in a small amount of argan oil once my hair is mostly dry. I also live in a humid environment so I comb in a bit of anti frizz serum in the mornings.

I also avoid heat in general. I used to straighten and curl by hair using an iron a lot, and even though I used heat protection spray, it damaged my hair. I don't straighten my hair anymore, and I use rollers or braids to curl/wave my hair now.

I wash my hair once a week. Typically on Thursday so it's nice and clean for the weekends. I use Pureology Hydrate Shampoo along with the conditioner.
Coconut oil hair treatments every other week or my hair does something weird.. Haha.
Moroccan Oil daily. I will NEVER live without this stuff. It is liquid gold. Even the smell.

SPF, low sugar diets, lifting heavy, and also oil pulling!

u/lubkin · 2 pointsr/AskReddit

I swear by this.

This is a great guide on Oil Cleansing. I personally use this Argan Oil and then CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser to wash off the oil and then proeceed with my routine.

EtA: Please ask if you have any more questions regarding this issue (including timing, etc.). My main concerns with my own skin is dryness + enlarged/clogged pores and my knowledge base reflects that.

It doesnt affect the pillow at all actually. This is the one I use, it's awesome.

https://www.amazon.com/OGX-Renewing-Penetrating-Sustainable-Ingredients/dp/B005DYJZ7M

I just put it in my hair while wet before bed (just pour on your hands and rub your hands through your wet hair, I also comb/brush my hair back after), and when I wake up my hair is proper thick. Then in the morning i wash it normally and blow dry and its epic.

I actually bought it to try make my hair shiny and improve the look of it but it added so much volume as well.

You cam also achieve decent results just with a good conditioner, just keep it in your hair for long, stay in the shower longer than normal. Then blow dry afterwards. But the oil for sure adds a next level to it.

u/Im-an-ME · 2 pointsr/beards

I use Argan Oil and a one drop of Coconut Oil and call it a day. I am sure you could change the coconut oil to something else if you thought the scent was too strong.

Also I can pick these up at my local Walgreens too. A bit more expensive but if you don't have Prime.

E.G.T. Timetox Gel Smile-Line Patch (just noticed I'm getting smile lines)

Konjac sponges (took one out to use)
Also spotted (but not bought) were some kind of hair conditioner, and hair oil which I think was Camellia Oil

Change your shampoo. I recommend OLX Moroccan Argan Oil. These bottles will last you a long, long, long time because they're concentrated.

https://www.amazon.com/OGX-Organix-Morocco-Shampoo-Conditioner/dp/B00OU0IHQU/ref=sr_1_6_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1518576240&sr=8-6&keywords=ogx+moroccan+argan+oil+shampoo&dpID=516pMIGuCIL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

You don't have to wash your hair every time you shower; you can just shampoo a couple times (or less) a week and either just rinse it between times or use a "co-wash" like this stuff:

https://www.amazon.com/Pantene-Pro-V-Truly-Natural-Co-Wash/dp/B00IOYI1LO/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1518576347&sr=1-1&keywords=pantene+cowash&dpID=41R9M-11-FL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

Stop rubbing your hair with that towel! Just squeeze your hair with it. Yeah, it's still going to be pretty damp. Now rub a couple drops of this on your palms:

https://www.amazon.com/OGX-Renewing-Penetrating-Sustainable-Ingredients/dp/B005DYJZ7M/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1518576435&sr=1-4&keywords=argan+oil+of+morocco&dpID=412vEqXkxwL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

and wipe your palms on your head and then comb your fingers through your hair.

Done! Oh, you want styling products?

https://www.amazon.com/Pantene-Natural-Defining-Styling-Packaging/dp/B012DD93QI/ref=sr_1_1?srs=7301146011&ie=UTF8&qid=1518576516&sr=8-1&keywords=pantene+custard

Scoop up about a teaspoon of this, rub it between your hands, bend over, and then squeeze this into your hair, moving your hands around to make sure you get all your hair. Yeah, sounds weird, but it really works better than rubbing it in. Now finger-comb, and let dry.

u/SpazMjr · 2 pointsr/curlyhair

My husband bought himself a bottle of this stuff and swears by it. His hair is curly but he keeps it very short. He bought this when I started CG cause he fell in love with my shea conditioner but didn't want to use all of it. Not sure how he found it but he loves it. He rinses in the shower, water only most days, then two pumps of this stuff rubbed into his scalp. It's awesome. His scalp is much healthier and his hair looks very healthy.

u/SammaATL · 2 pointsr/scuba

I agree, braids. I did mine differently though.

I split my hair ear to ear horizontally, and braid first that top half to one side, then the bottom side (not french, just a nice tight braid). This lets the mask strap fall between the 2 braids.

For live-aboards, I would do a fresh water rinse toward the end of the day, and I'd stroke a little bit of a silicon/olive-oil hair conditioner like this one https://www.amazon.com/Garnier-Moroccan-Treatment-Frizzy-Unmanageable/dp/B008DF6XB4.

If I was doing a night dive or a dawn dive, I'd leave my hair in the braids, if not I'd take it down after it was mostly dry, and re-braid it before bed with a bit more syrum. I typically only washed my long hair 1 or 2x a week anyway, on a live-aboard I only washed it near the last day.

I also added a latex swim cap after a year or so and that added another layer of easy on/easy off, but it also meant I had a bright blue head in every picture.

u/jollibhe · 2 pointsr/curlyhair

1.) Blue: a classic, blue jeans. Need I say more?

2.) Summer: what says summer more than memories of being a kid and making sandcastles? Exactly .

3.) Food related: okay, so this is personal. I am Italian and no one I have ever met has this in their homes. We make our pizzas in normal ovens or just go down the street to one of the many takeaway restaurants. What is a pizza oven and why does anyone need one!

4.) Someone else: I decided to go random wishlist on this and what better way to learn something new about someone that go through their lists?! So I got /u/krispykremedonuts and her wishlists are full of amazing things. And a lot of socks. Someone get this girl some socks! I would get her socks. 😂

5.) Book: you need to read Sum: 40 tales from the afterlives. I recommend this to anyone who would listen. It's 'speculative fiction,' whatever that means, but essentially it's 40 short stories about what may happen after we die. It may sound weird, but seriously, trust me. Read the wiki page of it if you need to be convinced or the Amazon product description. It really makes you think and sticks with you!

6.) Under $1: This was hard! But I found the cutest mini-pens. One dollar, free shipping, AND adorable. BAM!

7.) Dogs: I've been considering getting this fancy brush. It's supposed to be super good for dogs with long hair!

8.) Not useful but awesome: Okay, so I have been obsessed with the idea of being able to print photos from my phone since forever. Useful? Most definitely not, awesome...HECK YES! Check this out!!!

9.) Movie: Life is Beautiful. It's about selfless love. It's beautiful and I can't speak more about it without bursting into tears. If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't seen it, WATCH IT. It's incredibly beautiful and moving.

10.) Zombies: You definitely need a machete to defend yourself. This is even sharp on both sides!!!

11.) Needs and current goals: At this moment in my life, any sort of clothing would change my life because there is only so much sewing you can do before your clothes start looking very sad. BUT, since it has to do with current goals, a pair of workout leggings would really help in my workout goals! I've lost 3kg in the past 3 months! It's not a lot, but damn I'm SO happy :D :D :D

12.) Add-On item: Oh, add-ons...groans

13.) Fandom: CAW!

14.) So expensive: $11,703.38 carpet cleaner. I don't even know. But at least it has free shipping!

15.) Sharks: temporary tattoos!

16.) Good smells: I adore the smell of rosemary.

17.) Toy: I absolutely loved my jump rope. I had the red one! I got super good at it and my friends and I would jump rope together around the neighborhood like a bunch of weirdos. Such good memories though :D

18.) Writers: never underestimate the need of coffee in any job you may have.

19.) Current obsession: so it's almost summer and I am obsessing over which ankle bracelet I want. I feel naked without them. It's a problem 😂

20.) Random: this is what I got one of my last contest winners. I saw it on one of their wishlists and couldn't resist!!!

Use a serum or argan oil in it while tame to prevent frizz, and keep it healthy, and soft if you get really frizzy hair. I like Moroccan Oil, you only need a really small amount, and your hair feels incredible and leaves you without frizz.

  2. Everyone has different ears you may have trouble with 8-6 but 6-4 is buttery I for example had trouble from 2-0 but every other stretch has been simple and painless you can try tape if needed I keep a few rolls of this around the house for my ears and its intended purpose the one for my ears sits on my desk.

3)Do not use acrylic please don't I use hematite and glass plugs to size up exclusively (I like the weight in hematite and it's relatively cheap) If you cannot afford either then steel is acceptable as long as its surgical grade. You can use other types of steel but be warned things may not go as planned also tapers to the side start now with dead stretching and it'll be much easier when you finish and get to your goal size.

Leave in conditioner, wearing a cap, and oil treatments work as well.

Plus it sounds weird but I’ve been using coconut oil on my face for like 10 mins before I wash my face, and have been leaving it in my hair every For around an hour before I shower on weekends and my hair and skin have been feeling way better.

But I recommend buying 2 leave ins, one an oil and one a cream, then if you want, you can use coconut oil before you wash your hair and wash/moisturize your skin

u/GetOffMyLawn_ · 2 pointsr/Rosacea

I use MSM cream on my face and it works well. I have not tried oral MSM nor MSM eye drops. IANAD, I can only tell you about things I've researched or tried for myself.

Try erythromycin eye ointment. Or you can get azithromycin eye drops. It's off label for ocular rosacea but a study has shown it works. Beats taking oral antibiotics which upset your stomach.

Castor oil eye drops are supposed to be helpful for lubricating the eyes and have medicinal effect. You might want to try those at bedtime. You can get regular eye drops that contain castor oil to use during the day.

If that's not lubricating enough you can put ointment in your eye at bedtime. You can get OTC stuff like Stye or Bausch&Lomb make something similar. Basically petroleum jelly and mineral oil with a couple other things.

Don't forget to do warm compresses on your eyelids twice a day. It really helps. The day I got diagnosed I did a warm compress at bedtime followed by lubricating drops. When I woke up in the morning I had a big ball of gunk underneath my eye and a great deal of relief. But the warm compresses unblock the oil glands and those are what lubricate your eye, tears are not enough. That may be why Xiidra or Restasis aren't working for you. You need oil, not tears.

Wash your eyelids and eyelashes to get the gunk out. I do mine in the shower with Cetaphil. Some people use baby shampoo.

SERUM!! Hair serums are magic for lashes and eyebrows, I would recommend anyyyy of them that have castor oil. There’s a lot of cheap and good ones on amazon.

Here’s an ok castor oil, most of the bad reviews are from allergic reactions so do a patch test on your wrist.

ALSO I wouldn’t recommend using eyebrow pencils or anything that drags the hair. Makes them more sparse when the hair falls off faster since the pencils like to drag the roots. I like to use an angled eyeliner brush and a dark brown eyeshadow for my brows, blending with spoolie and cleaning up fallout with a beauty blender.

Reusing an eyelash album but here’s what my brows usually look like! They’re kind of similar to yours I think? Idk

This is basically a lifetime supply. The other thing you should do is use conditioner in the shower (every single time). The good news is, you only need a small dot. Just put it on your beard and let it sit a sec while you wash yo' body.

u/kitcat_kittycat · 1 pointr/transpassing

It is way post-Christmas but I'd revisited your other post because I remembered your hair. My hair used to look like that.

Gurl, your hair looks seriously dry and damaged, and I think that is 99% of the reason why it looks so frizzy in these photos. I dunno if you've spent much time over at /r/curlyhair but it is worth getting there for an in-depth look. But basically, right now I would bet you shampoo your hair every day and if you use a conditioner it has silicones in it. The silicones build up in your hair, necessitating a harsh shampoo to get rid of them. This means you're constantly stripping the oils from your hair, day after day, and it's seriously messing them up. You gotta remove the silicones from your routine, stop shampooing as often, and moisturize the crap out of it.

That said, as a fellow poor person here is what I would do if I were you:

Buy

  1. VO5 Shampoo. You want the cheap kind that comes in these types of bottles, ~$0.50-1.50/bottle at a drugstore or grocery. I have no idea why these cost so much on Amazon, that's crazy. Doesn't matter the scent, just pick one without silicones. Look on the back, there shouldn't be anything in the ingredient list that ends in "-one". Most don't, but there are a couple that do, I think the "strengthening" types.
  2. VO5 Conditioner. Again, SILICONE-FREE. Again, you should not be paying more than $0.50-$1.50 for this.
  3. Nature's Gate Conditioner in Jojoba or Aloe. I like Jojoba better. This is a nice base conditioner that's also silicone-free. It's probably going to run you $5-$7 a bottle and may be harder to find in a grocery or drugstore--this you may have to order online.
  4. Jojoba Oil. You do not want "hair oil" that you find in most drug and grocery stores. Look at the ingredient list--it will be basically industrial-grade silicones that won't do shit for repairing your hair. So you gotta find the real stuff. Crunchy-granola stores, Trader Joe's, Wegman's, Whole Foods will probably sell small bottles of it, usually by a company called Desert Essence (I literally have never seen any other brand of Jojoba Oil sold in any physical stores). This is the most expensive item on this whole list. If you buy it in physical stores you'll pay about $10 for this 4 oz bottle. If you buy online, you can find much better deals--this brand is cheaper per ounce and it's working for me. But you may want to get the smaller bottle at first just to see if you like it.
  5. A normal-type comb for distributing hair-care products though your hair.
  6. A wide-tooth comb for detangling.
  7. Shower cap (optional)

    Next, it's time to

    FIX DAT HAIR

  8. Wash with the VO5 Shampoo. We're getting all the residual silicones out. Use the wide-tooth comb followed by the small comb to gently distribute it through then rise. Now put it away. You will not need this again for at least a week.
  9. Take your Nature's Gate Conditioner, and draw the outline of a circle about quarter to half-dollar size on your palm.
  10. Fill that circle in with jojoba oil. Yes this is a lot of oil. Your hair needs it, trust me.
  11. Mix the oil and conditioner together.
  12. Massage it into your hair. Concentrate on the ends. Comb with the wide and small-toothed comb to really distribute it evenly. Be gentle because technically you're not supposed to comb wet hair but darnit, I've found it turns out better that way.
  13. Now, ideally you put your hair up in the shower cap and wait at least 30 minutes. Maybe take a long bath, or primp, or watch Netflix, or whatever. The idea is you let the oil really soak in. At the very least take your sweet time taking the rest of your shower.
  14. Rinse. Your hair should not feel squeaky when you pull on it in the shower. You don't want it to. That would mean it's not moisturized.
  15. Gently detangle with fingers and wide-tooth comb (NOT THE SMALL ONE!) and let air dry.

Ideally your hair will look a lot smoother and more manageable at this point. Hopefully it is not limp. If it feels limp and heavy, then I apologize, I told you to use too much jojoba. Use less next time. If it is not smoother and more manageable and still looks frizzy then you need to use MORE jojoba. Whatever the case, move to the next step:

    ALL DAY ERRY DAY

This is what you'll be doing to your hair on a daily basis. Notice no shampoo is used. That is fine! The VO5 conditioner is cleaning enough, promise me!

  16. Wash your hair with the VO5 conditioner. Pretend it's shampoo. That is, rub it in your hair, focus near the roots (not those delicate, delicate ends), rinse out. Use more if your hair is feeling limp or you think you used too much jojoba. Use less if it's not or if you haven't done that much that day. DO NOT USE THE SHAMPOO SRSLY YOU DON'T NEED IT
  17. Repeat steps 2-5 from "Fix Dat Hair". You probably want to use more conditioner and less jojoba, but that will depend on whether your hair is feeling frizzy or limp. If it came out of the the FDH routine still frizzy, then by all means, load up on the jojoba. If it feels limp, then dial the jojoba back and make more of your circle conditioner. As always, when you're conditioning focus your attention on the ends and middle of your hair.
  18. DO NOT RINSE YET. Now you do the rest of your shower-related routine. This gives the conditioner and oils a bit of time to sink in, just not as much as for the big ol' oil treatment above.
  19. Rinse. Gently dry to dampness with towel, finger and wide-tooth comb detangle, let air dry.

On a weekly basis--at most--you are allowed to replace the VO5 conditioner with the VO5 shampoo. But to compensate you must use extra jojoba because of all the oils you're stripping, and ideally you give it extra time to soak in. Shampoo day is usually the day when I stop being lazy and actually shave my legs and shit. I mean, ideally you shampoo less than weekly but you do what you can tolerate.

When you first start this up you might feel like your hair is extra-greasy at the roots. This is normal. Your hair is used to you using the equivalent of dish soap on it every day and has been overproducing oils to try to compensate. The oil production will back down as it gets used to your new, gentler routine. Give it time! If you are really self-conscious about it then use a soft boar-bristle-type brush to distribute the oils from root to tip.

Do NOT flat-iron or use a hair-dryer during this time period. The heat is damaging your hair further. It will make things worse. Anyway, once you see how lovely your curls are in their natural, healthy state you won't feel the need to. :)

If your hair is very thick and coarse then as you get used to the routine you may even want to finger-comb a few drops or more of jojoba oil through it while it's still damp to help moisturize, after the towel-dry. You may want to do this anyway if it's very damaged (especially at the middle and ends).

Anyway, I promise this will help. The routine took my hair from being a mess of split ends and nastiness to shiny and healthy, and it's turned my boyfriend's curly beard from a Brillo pad to a soft, bouncy cloud. It is a hell of a lot cheaper than keratin treatments and all that, too. If you go to the /r/curlyhair sub they have all sorts of product and routine suggestions, but I like using the above because they've worked for me and are comparatively cost-conscious.

The Issue: I started patch testing a new Vitamin C Serum right about the same time I started a five day course of oral antibiotics (levofloxacin). On Day 3 of the patch test (Day 5 of the antibiotics), I noticed I was breaking out in the area where I had been patch testing, but also all over in the typical places where I break out. I was quick to get bummed about the Vitamin C Serum breaking me out but then realized maybe the antibiotics could have been causing the wider breakout on my face. Is this a thing that happens? I tried googlin' but nothing much came out of it.

Skin Type: Oily, blemish-prone, sensitive, currently a bit dry in places.

Current Routine:
I've been using everything in my routine for forever, introduced the Treclin in August and the Vitamin C at the beginning of this week.

AM

    PM

Essential oils just search for - obviously that's where part of the experimentation comes in. I use a mix of Frankincense, Amber, Cade (SUPER STRONG SMELL!!! very smoky), Black pepper, and sometimes Sandalwood. I have a problem with lotions on my face. I've found that I break out when I use products with dimethicone in them (which is most lotions unfortunately.) Dimethicone is silicone and if you see something ending in "-cone" a lot of times it's silicone too. Since realizing this I've cut out silicones from the products I use, such as conditioner and face moisturizer.

I've also switched to using jojoba oil as a moisturizer, it is very similar to your skins natural sebum. It is recommended on acne.org, which is a site with a ton of users and reviews. You can purchase it from health food stores like natural grocers or online. You only need a little bit for your face, so a 4oz bottle will last me 6 months or so! I also add a drop of tea tree oil to the jojoba oil before I apply it to my face, it's a natural anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-microbial. Good luck!

Hey OP!

Congrats on the good genes! I have long thick black hair too and started the following regimen which really helped me:

  1. Wash twice a week, before washing, use ayurvedic hair oil for at least 2 hours (ideally overnight), wash with ayurvedic shampoo and hemp conditioner. Wash always with warm and never with super hot water.

  2. Comb hair with a wide toothed wooden comb for detangling and a finer one for styling. I like this wide comb and I can't find the tail one (maybe they don't sell them on the US website, I bought them from Europe). I cannot recommend this wooden comb enough, it has single handedly reduced so much hair fall and also improved the distribution of oils.

  3. I have relatively dry hair so I usually style it with this serum before leaving the house. I never use this on my scalp.

  4. My PM routine is basically massaging the scalp with some pure argan oil and a few drops of rosemary oil (rosemary is great for increasing blood circulation to the scalp and increasing hair growth), and sometimes some tea tree if I spot a bit of dandruff (tea tree is said to reduce dandruff). Then I just throw it into a loose braid

  5. I forget to do this every 6 weeks but once every 2-3 months I just trim off the split ends with a pair of hair scissors. Regular craft scissors are too blunt, don't use those.

  6. Misc: Eat clean and healthy, and give your scalp a massage for 3-4 minutes every night, don't go crazy with all the colouring and keratin treatments, stay away from things that aren't natural. Change pillowcases at least once a week.

Those would be my top tips! Hope that helps xx

Oshima Tsubaki Hair Oil is my top recommendation! It's from camellia japonica and is a staple in a lot of Japanese households. It's made my hair softer and shinier than before.

Styling!
You mentioned that you dont want to "weight it down with product" and how im interpreting that is that you don't want it to look greasy or over-worked. This is fine, it's my same preference.
If you have fine hair, do the following with your head hanging down. This will help volumize your roots while you style. Keep product away from your roots. If you have regular/thick hair, do this upright.
Here's what you do -- Invest in 3 things --> moisturizer, sealer, styler.
I've tried literally hundreds of dollars worth of fucking useless products. Here is what i've found works best for me.

  • STEP ONE - Moisturizer: Davines AIO Hair Lotion or LUSH R&B Lotion This will moisturize your hair without making it look greasy and weighed down. Basically this will help accentuate/define the natural texture of your hair. Try keeping it away from your roots otherwise your roots will start to look greasy. You dont want this.

  • STEP TWO - Sealer: Argan oil it shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg. I find this to be a very good brand that lasts you fucking FOREVER. What argan oil does is, in addition to being very good for your hair cuticle health, it takes that moisturizer you just used and seals it into your hair. Plus it adds a little shine and a little bounce. Apply it by using LITERALLY TWO DROPS in your fingertips and rub your fingers together and just apply it mostly to the ends of your hair. Once you've done that, use that last remaining shine left on your fingers/palm to scrunch your hair, kinda like you did with the towel. Keep the oil away from your scalp. It WILL make you look greasy.

  • STEP THREE - Styler: This will depend almost entirely on your hair type, but after tons of trial and error... ive found Oribe Creme for Style works great at creating hold, sealing in moisture, and still giving you hair you can run your fingers through. Its on the pricier side, in my opinion, so ive linked you to the small size if you wanna try first before committing to a large size. What i do is kind of what you did with the STEP ONE moisturizer. Squeeze out a SMALL amount...like, a quarter of an inch of product, into your fingers and rub between your fingers. Now run it through your hair, keeping it away from the roots. If you've got wavy or curly hair, do more of a scrunching motion. This is the part of the styling where you try to put your hair into a position you like. I like my hair parted on the left and pushed back, so this is what i do. Once ive brushed it back using my fingers (NOT a brush), i just walk away from the mirror and go on about my day. It is at this point, until your hair completely dry, that you just stop fucking with your hair. Dont touch it. dont move it, dont brush it. Just let it be. Once it's dry, you are free to let your hair fall forward, a little into your face or whatever. Because you pushed it back while it was drying, you'll have some nice volume at the roots, when it falls forward.

So yeah, this may seem overwhelming, but you can cherry-pick what you are willing to do. Honestly, aside from the head massage, i literally only do the oil/hairwash/style thing once every 5 or 6 days. So it really doesnt demand that much time.

I figure while im here, i'll also address some things i often see people commenting:

    F.A.Q (my opinions as answers)

  • If i dont wash my hair every day, it gets so greasy: I cant begin to tell you how much damage you're causing your hair by washing every day. My secret weapon for refreshing oily hair and giving it another 3 or 4 days of wear is a dry shampoo. Batiste works great, and it comes in different colors, so if you have dark or red hair, you dont have to worry about your roots looking powdery and white. Hell, in a pinch i'll even just use a small amount of baby powder massaged into the roots of my hair. Wash your hair less.

  • Dont cut your hair: This is bad advice all around, in my opinion. To keep your hair happy, you have to be mindful of split ends you may get. Going to the stylist and asking them to LITERALLY ONLY cut off your split ends every two months or so is great and should only run you about $15. They wont remove any length (be firm when saying that you only need split end removal) and your hair will constantly look healthy.

  • The awkward phase is inevitable: This is and isn't true. It is absolutely true if you just let your hair grow with absolutely zero styling from a professional. This is totally fine to do! You may look like a hair bubble for a few months, but you will get longer hair in what seems like a shorter amount of time, and then once you're at a happy length, you can go get a hair cut and the stylist will give you an actual shape to your cut. HOWEVER, the route that i chose is the longer path -- but the more "stylish" path -- which means that every 4 months or so, ive gone to the stylist so at every single stage of growth, ive had a proper shape/cut. This means that my hair length isnt as long as it would be otherwise, but the great thing is that i've been able to see the possible style for my hair at every single length.

  • My hair is boring: This is pretty easily remedied! Like with anything else, consult a professional. Ask any long haired friends you have, whose hair you like, who their stylist is and book an appointment! They might recommend layers, they might recommend parting your hair differently, etc. Be firm in telling them you're not interested in getting rid of length, but if your hair is fine, maybe adding volume, or if you have a SHIT TON of hair (first, congrats) maybe its a matter of taking away some weight. If you've got hair-goals, show them a picture of someone whose hair you admire. Maybe a Hemsworth or something.

Okay...i hope this helped at all!

I bought both on Amazon - I use the actual oil not shampoo. I usually massage it into my scalp every couple of nights and then sleep with it on. Typically I wrap up my head with a scarf or bandana just so the oil doesn't get on my pillowcase and cause breakouts on my face later.

I'm an otter. And what do you do? Swim around on my back and do cute little human things with my hands.

Giant baby otter. A little long but awesome.

Thisis .45 cents over. :(

I don't get too deep into shampoos, but I grew up using Paul Mitchell - Shampoo One and The Conditioner. After a 20-year break where I was buying my own shampoo... I decided to swap back. I love what it has done for my hair. My hair is thick, coarse, and straight.

One thing that I love though is this.

It makes my hair gel so soft. I use it on my kids' hair, and they have wavy hair. It keeps the frizzies at bay. I use it after a shower while my hair is wet and a few spritzes in the morning to brush my hair. It seems to help a lot with breakage (I'm not nice to my hair).

These aren't Asian products obviously, but they are still pretty awesome.

This is my hair. I use Aussie shampoo and conditioner, and lately I've been using Moroccan Oil after showers. The oil was a bit pricey, and was the first hair product besides shampoo/conditioner I've ever bought, but it smoothed out my hair from the very first use!

I shower once every few days, and never straighten, blow dry, or dry-brush it. I comb it with a wide toothed comb in the shower sometimes, but usually I'll just run my fingers through it. Then again, my hair isn't just frizzy, it's also curly as fuck and naturally tends towards dreads...

So for dry hair you should def use nourishing shampoo and conditioner and a conditioning treatment (Olaplex) at least once per week. After shampooing squeeze the water out of your hair and apply conditioner over most of your head (not roots). Leave it on for a few minutes to soak up the conditioner. Then rinse. Finish with a blast of cold water on your scalp.

Not sure if you let it air dry or blow dry. If air dry, spray a treatment on (like It’s a 10 or All Eyes on Me and then an air dry cream.

If blow dry, spray on a heat protectant spray. Then blow dry, then apply hair oil to the ends.

I think you should consider using argan oil on your hair like this one from Amazon. It helps to moisturize and nourish dry hair. Overall, making your hair healthier and of course easy to work with.

At the same time, you might want to re look at the type of products you are currently using. To me, it seems like you have thick hair and not all hair products work well on thick hair (fellow thick hair dude here). If pomades are your thing, I compiled a short list of a few of my favourite pomades here. Hope it helps!

I’m half Bengali and this oil is staple in all Bangla households. I can keep it in my hair for around a week and experience no breakouts on my skin. Some people hate the smell, but it really makes your hair healthy

I started to use Amla Hair Oil https://www.amazon.ca/Dabur-Amla-Hair-Oil-Bottle/dp/B000JWQ3N2

Its a brand well known in certain parts of Africa,Asia and the Middle East my grand mother used to use it in the 60s, it helps soften the hair and brings more shine, my hair care routine is pretty simple with Tresemee Shampoo, Vatika Conditioner and the ordinary hemi squalane for my dry scalp and then when my hair is damp I apply a very small amount of Amla and then braid my hair and Ive never felt my hair softer!!! Even the texture is different!

This has been a real problem for me as well. The only thing I have found that works for me (results may vary!) is to apply a little oil to my beard/skin after I've gotten out of the shower and dried off - while the hair and skin is still moist. I use a couple drops of coconut milk and a drop or two of argan oil. Nothing fancy just the cheap stuff seems to work, it's diluted in a siloxane base.

Drop it onto your palm and rub it in with fingers or very GENTLY with a brush so as not to irritate the skin. As time goes on and the rest of my skin and hair dry, the beard is left with that little bit of oil keeping things "moist". It's great for the hair on top as well, just don't use too much or you'll get that slightly greasy look/feel.

I found mine at Target but I'm sure they probably even have them in grocery stores near the hair care section.

This is the EXACT same stuff as Josie Maran, and I use it on my face every day - https://www.amazon.com/Virgin-Organic-Argan-Hair-Face/dp/B00IT1HKV4

It's amazing!

FWIW, I shed 2-3 eyebrow hairs any time I wash them in a non-gentle way. And they've also been getting really dry. So I put a drop of argan oil on them :)

How long have you been taking the prenatals?

I started using a spray on anti breakage serum just on the tips of my hair after I shower. It’s helped the appearance and feel. I just buy a cheap drugstore brand. The Biotin shampoo and conditioner by this brand is inexpensive but nice as well.

You are a master with makeup! No criticism from me there! But, if you want some CC on your hair I'd suggest using this shampoo: https://www.shophairstory.com/www/product/869693000106
I have the same problem you do with frizzy flyaways and they drive me NUTS! Once I switched to this shampoo it was like night and day, crazy. Sometimes on really humid days I'll put some oil on the ends (if I don't my hair makes a horrible triangle shape). I use this brand: https://www.amazon.com/Loreal-Mythic-Oil-Unisex-Ounce/dp/B00576OC1U?th=1
I'm sure you can use pure cosmetic grade argan oil too but I like this one because it is a blend of a few different oils. I don't do much else with my hair except straighten the front baby hairs. My life goal is to never have to do a lot with my hair haha.

I agree with greenbudha's comment, natural oils are the way to go for dry skin if you're looking for a more natural yet effective approach. I started using argan oil 6 months ago for dry skin and never looked back. I recently discovered rose hip oil as well to use on my skin at night. If you have never used these oils before, you could test a small amount on your skin in case you have a different reaction to these oils. Here are the products I use:

Once upon a time I treated a baby chick eye infection with chamomile eye drops with success...Her eye was red and oozing, and closed shut. If that is what is going on with your Silkie then I'd say it's early stages and easily treated with herbal eye drops. Make a strong Chamomile tea (organic) let cool and do drops a few times a day. I did not use Castor Oil, but after some reading seems like it also could help. Castor Oil has antiinfammitory properties too/ Cold Pressed Castor Oil is the all natural kind. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HE3QBXA/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_dZYVCb7G2CHBM

Side Note: Chamomile tea bags are an old remedy for conjunctivitis.
