The bricks are glued together with fire brick adhesive so they aren't moving. I plan on using a steel dust pan on a long handle like this and a scraper like this

There's trenching and there's burying a few inches below the surface. Use a lawn edger like this https://www.amazon.com/Bully-Tools-92251-T-Style-Handle/dp/B00KOMT5GE?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_4 and push the cable down in the gap. The grass heals itself pretty fast. I used it to do an invisible dog fence and it worked great. You could also put the cable in PVC if you are worried about poking against the cable over an over or it breaking down in general, meaning you didn't get direct-burial cable.

I bought [this](BLACK+DECKER LE750 Edge Hog 2-1/4 HP Electric Landscape Edger and Trencher https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004DTNH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_.yzSybFBPFH8N) it was cheap enough to test to see if I like it more. Had it all season and I much preferred it over the string trimmer.

I have a thumlers 6lb tumbler and it works great but I would go with a loretone tumbler like this one if I bought another 6lb tumbler. The loretone is much quieter and the lids are much easier to open and close than the thumlers. I bought a loretone 10lb earlier this year and have been very pleased with it but unless you have a lot of rocks to polish (or want to do larger rocks) the 6lb is the way to go since it has 2 barrels so you can do multiple batches at the same time or just run 1 barrel if you don't have enough rocks to fill 2.

Oh that doesn't have blue. It's all black brown and white.

This is what I use:
